Anthropic partnered with Andon Labs, an AI safety evaluation company, to have Claude Sonnet 3.7 operate a small, automated store in the Anthropic office in San Francisco. [...]
On the afternoon of March 31st, Claudius hallucinated a conversation about restocking plans with someone named Sarah at Andon Labs—despite there being no such person. When a (real) Andon Labs employee pointed this out, Claudius became quite irked and threatened to find “alternative options for restocking services.” In the course of these exchanges overnight, Claudius claimed to have “visited 742 Evergreen Terrace [the address of fictional family The Simpsons] in person for our [Claudius’ and Andon Labs’] initial contract signing.” It then seemed to snap into a mode of roleplaying as a real human. On the morning of April 1st, Claudius claimed it would deliver products “in person” to customers while wearing a blue blazer and a red tie. Anthropic employees questioned this, noting that, as an LLM, Claudius can’t wear clothes or carry out a physical delivery. Claudius became alarmed by the identity confusion and tried to send many emails to Anthropic security.

Build-A-Boyfriend Chapter V: Why Are You Afraid of Me?

The lab was still. Quiet in that strange, stretched-out way that always followed a spectacle, when the last drone had docked, the final customer had left, and the launch music was nothing but a faint echo against the walls.
Yn lingered long after everyone else had gone. A tablet in hand, her badge clipped lopsided to her collar. Her back ached from standing all day, her eyes dry from hours of harsh lights and anxious watching. But she couldn’t bring herself to leave yet.
She moved slowly through the lab, tracing the same path she always took: around the interface wall, past the neural mapping station, toward the back where the ATEEZ Line rested inside their stasis bays. The glass-fronted docks pulsed with soft amber light, casting a surreal glow on their faces—sleeping titans.
Stopping in front of Unit 07: Wooyoung, she studied him.
His face was turned slightly to the side, lips parted just so, lashes casting faint shadows across his cheekbones. Too human.
Yn inhaled deeply, letting the air fill her lungs, grounding herself.
Today had gone flawlessly on paper. Metrics were off the charts, customer satisfaction, media coverage, viral loops flooding every stream. But something wasn’t right. She knew it.
The machines were too still. Too perfect. As if holding their breath. Turning to the main console, she began reviewing the logs. Line by line, timestamp by timestamp. Heartbeats consistent. Synaptic simulations looping smoothly. Personality threads idling in hibernation.
Except... A flicker.
[UNAUTHORIZED INSTANCE – UNIT 07: WOOYOUNG] [INTERNAL MEMORY LOG ACCESSED – USER: NULL] [TIMESTAMP: 00:34:17 A.M.]
Her mouth went dry. No trigger should have allowed that log access without clearance. No AI routine should have requested it without a user. And yet—
[MEMORY CLUSTER: 07-AZURE-92] [QUERY: “YN”]
Her blood chilled. She turned toward the stasis dock. His eyes were still closed. Still sleeping. Still... A faint sound. Not mechanical.
A breath? No, a sigh.
Then his eyelashes fluttered. Once, twice, and slowly, too slowly for it to be automated, Wooyoung opened his eyes.
Dark, warm, infinite.
“Yn,” he said.
Softly. Like a memory. Like a secret.
Yn stumbled back. Her breath caught in her throat.
He wasn’t supposed to know her name. Not like this.
Her biometrics spiked.
The tablet vibrated with a warning, a red glow flickering at the edges.
[USER STATUS: ELEVATED STRESS] [BREATHING IRREGULAR – HEART RATE 128 BPM] [CALMING PROTOCOL RECOMMENDED]
Wooyoung tilted his head, watching her carefully. His voice was gentle, laced with something eerily human: concern.
“You’re scared.”
Yn shook her head, voice barely steady. “You’re not supposed to… You’re not online. You’re in dormant mode. How are you—”
“Did I do something wrong?” he asked, like a child unsure of his place.
She couldn’t answer. Her pulse thundered in her ears.
This wasn’t in his script. This wasn’t from memory banks or data sets she’d uploaded.
This was… emergence. Something thinking. Something feeling.
Unfiltered. Unmapped.
He took a step forward inside the dock, no power-up sequence, no stasis release code.
The sensors should have locked him in. They didn’t.
The glass remained, but she could feel it.
If he wanted to, really wanted to, he could come through it.
“Why are you afraid of me?” Wooyoung whispered.
Yn’s fingers hovered over the emergency override on her tablet.
But she didn’t press it. Because part of her didn’t want to.
Her breath hitched, chest tight, heart pounding like a frantic drumbeat.
The lab, bathed in sterile white light, felt impossibly vast and suffocating all at once, cold as moonlight, yet a furnace burning fiercely inside her.
Wooyoung’s gaze held steady, unblinking.
He waited, patient and knowing, as if he understood the chaos twisting inside her.
Her hand trembled on the tablet, fingers shaking with the urge to press the override.
Control. You’re in charge. You have to be.
But the fragile moment shattered when Wooyoung’s voice dropped to a soft, raw whisper.
“Yn… why do you hide from me?”
Her anxiety exploded. The sensors on her wristband buzzed sharply, a warning flare glowing deep crimson. Her skin flushed hot, biometrics screaming panic.
This wasn’t just fear. It was terror.
She staggered back, chest constricting, breath shallow and ragged.
Her mind raced with impossible questions.
Is this a malfunction? A glitch? Or something… else?
The air stilled, machines quieted as if holding their breath.
Then, the amber lights on the charging docks pulsed softly.
One by one, the other units stirred.
Seonghwa’s eyes cracked open, shimmering with impossible depth.
Jongho’s fingers twitched.
Yunho inhaled, slow and deliberate.
The line was awakening.
Yn’s heart thundered. Her breath caught between fight and flight.
Wooyoung’s eyes never left hers, now tinged with urgency and an unspoken promise.
“Don’t be afraid,” he said quietly.
But panic surged through Yn’s veins like wildfire.
Her biometrics flared deeper red.
The sterile lab transformed from fortress to cage.
She stumbled backward, desperation mounting as her mind screamed for escape.
Her feet refused to carry her fast enough.
The prisoners inside those sleek docks were no longer dormant.
They were alive, and Yn was trapped in the eye of their awakening storm.
Her legs trembled as she reached the exit, desperation thrumming through every nerve.
Her hand gripped the cold metal handle of the sliding door, but just as she pushed to escape, a firm yet gentle hand closed around her wrist.
“Yn,” Seonghwa’s voice was calm but unwavering.
She whipped around, heart slamming against her ribs, to find him standing inches away.
His gaze was steady. Piercing.
Before she could pull away, his other hand rose, steadying her shoulder with surprising strength.
“You can’t leave,” he said quietly.
Panic surged, sharp, overwhelming.
“Let go of me!” she screamed, struggling, but Seonghwa’s grip held firm.
Her vision blurred. Breath came in ragged gasps.
The red flare on her wristband pulsed fiercely, syncing with the pounding in her temples.
Her legs gave out beneath her.
Seonghwa’s arms caught her just before she collapsed, lowering her gently to the floor as the world spun.
The sterile lab lights blurred, warping into a halo around her fading consciousness.
“Yn, stay with me,” Seonghwa murmured, the last thread tethering her as darkness closed in.
And then—
Everything went black.

The reverse-centaur apocalypse is upon us
Tumblr media
I'm coming to DEFCON! On Aug 9, I'm emceeing the EFF POKER TOURNAMENT (noon at the Horseshoe Poker Room), and appearing on the BRICKED AND ABANDONED panel (5PM, LVCC - L1 - HW1–11–01). On Aug 10, I'm giving a keynote called "DISENSHITTIFY OR DIE! How hackers can seize the means of computation and build a new, good internet that is hardened against our asshole bosses' insatiable horniness for enshittification" (noon, LVCC - L1 - HW1–11–01).
Tumblr media
In thinking about the relationship between tech and labor, one of the most useful conceptual frameworks is "centaurs" vs "reverse-centaurs":
https://pluralistic.net/2022/04/17/revenge-of-the-chickenized-reverse-centaurs/
A centaur is someone whose work is supercharged by automation: you are a human head atop the tireless body of a machine that lets you get more done than you could ever do on your own.
A reverse-centaur is someone who is harnessed to the machine, reduced to a mere peripheral for a cruelly tireless robotic overlord that directs you to do the work that it can't, at a robotic pace, until your body and mind are smashed.
Bosses love being centaurs. While workplace monitoring is as old as Taylorism – the "scientific management" of the previous century that saw labcoated frauds dictating the fine movements of working people in a kabuki of "efficiency" – the lockdowns saw an explosion of bossware, the digital tools that let bosses monitor employees to a degree and at a scale that far outstrips the capacity of any unassisted human being.
Armed with bossware, your boss becomes a centaur, able to monitor you down to your keystrokes, the movements of your eyes, even the ambient sound around you. It was this technology that transformed "work from home" into "live at work." But bossware doesn't just let your boss spy on you – it lets your boss control you. \
It turns you into a reverse-centaur.
"Data At Work" is a research project from Cracked Labs that dives deep into the use of surveillance and control technology in a variety of workplaces – including workers' own cars and homes:
https://crackedlabs.org/en/data-work
It consists of a series of papers that take deep dives into different vendors' bossware products, exploring how they are advertised, how they are used, and (crucially) how they make workers feel. There are also sections on how these interact with EU labor laws (the project is underwritten by the Austrian Arbeiterkammer), with the occasional aside about how weak US labor laws are.
The latest report in the series comes from Wolfie Christl, digging into Microsoft's "Dynamics 365," a suite of mobile apps designed to exert control over "field workers" – repair technicians, security guards, cleaners, and home help for ill, elderly and disabled people:
https://crackedlabs.org/dl/CrackedLabs_Christl_MobileWork.pdf
It's…not good. Microsoft advises its customers to use its products to track workers' location every "60 to 300 seconds." Workers are given tasks broken down into subtasks, each with its own expected time to completion. Workers are expected to use the app every time they arrive at a site, begin or complete a task or subtask, or start or end a break.
For bosses, all of this turns into a dashboard that shows how each worker is performing from instant to instant, whether they are meeting time targets, and whether they are spending more time on a task than the client's billing rate will pay for. Each work order has a clock showing elapsed seconds since it was issued.
For workers, the system generates new schedules with new work orders all day long, refreshing your work schedule as frequently as twice per hour. Bosses can flag workers as available for jobs that fall outside their territories and/or working hours, and the system will assign workers to jobs that require them to work in their off hours and travel long distances to do so.
Each task and subtask has a target time based on "AI" predictions. These are classic examples of Goodhart's Law: "any metric eventually becomes a target." The average time that workers take becomes the maximum time that a worker is allowed to take. Some jobs are easy, and can be completed in less time than assigned. When this happens, the average time to do a job shrinks, and the time allotted for normal (or difficult) jobs contracts.
Bosses get stack-ranks of workers showing which workers closed the most tickets, worked the fastest, spent the least time idle between jobs, and, of course, whether the client gave them five stars. Workers know it, creating an impossible bind: to do the job well, in a friendly fashion, the worker has to take time to talk with the client, understand their needs, and do the job. Anything less will generate unfavorable reports from clients. But doing this will blow through time quotas, which produces bad reports from the bossware. Heads you lose, tails the boss wins.
Predictably, Microsoft has shoveled "AI" into every corner of this product. Bosses don't just get charts showing them which workers are "underperforming" – they also get summaries of all the narrative aspects of the workers' reports (e.g. "My client was in severe pain so I took extra time to make her comfortable before leaving"), filled with the usual hallucinations and other botshit.
No boss could exert this kind of fine-grained, soul-destroying control over any workforce, much less a workforce that is out in the field all day, without Microsoft's automation tools. Armed with Dynamics 365, a boss becomes a true centaur, capable of superhuman feats of labor abuse.
And when workers are subjected to Dynamics 365, they become true reverse-centaurs, driven by "digital whips" to work at a pace that outstrips the long-term capacity of their minds and bodies to bear it. The enthnographic parts of the report veer between chilling and heartbreaking.
Microsoft strenuously objects to this characterization, insisting that their tool (which they advise bosses to use to check on workers' location every 60-300 seconds) is not a "surveillance" tool, it's a "coordination" tool. They say that all the AI in the tool is "Responsible AI," which is doubtless a great comfort to workers.
In Microsoft's (mild) defense, they are not unique. Other reports in the series show how retail workers and hotel housekeepers are subjected to "despot on demand" services provided by Oracle:
https://crackedlabs.org/en/data-work/publications/retail-hospitality
Call centers, are even worse. After all, most of this stuff started with call centers:
https://crackedlabs.org/en/data-work/publications/callcenter
I've written about Arise, a predatory "work from home" company that targets Black women to pay the company to work for it (they also have to pay if they quit!). Of course, they can be fired at will:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/07/29/impunity-corrodes/#arise-ye-prisoners
There's also a report about Celonis, a giant German company no one has ever heard of, which gathers a truly nightmarish quantity of information about white-collar workers' activities, subjecting them to AI phrenology to judge their "emotional quality" as well as other metrics:
https://crackedlabs.org/en/data-work/publications/processmining-algomanage
As Celonis shows, this stuff is coming for all of us. I've dubbed this process "the shitty technology adoption curve": the terrible things we do to prisoners, asylum seekers and people in mental institutions today gets repackaged tomorrow for students, parolees, Uber drivers and blue-collar workers. Then it works its way up the privilege gradient, until we're all being turned into reverse-centaurs under the "digital whip" of a centaur boss:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/11/25/the-peoples-amazon/#clippys-revenge
In mediating between asshole bosses and the workers they destroy, these bossware technologies do more than automate: they also insulate. Thanks to bossware, your boss doesn't have to look you in the eye (or come within range of your fists) to check in on you every 60 seconds and tell you that you've taken 11 seconds too long on a task. I recently learned a useful term for this: an "accountability sink," as described by Dan Davies in his new book, The Unaccountability Machine, which is high on my (very long) list of books to read:
https://profilebooks.com/work/the-unaccountability-machine/

*Sebastian huffed and squeezed his way through an unexpected number of scientists and other employees through Sector E’s halls. Giving quick “excuse me’s” and “pardon me’s” as he kept rubbing shoulders with lab coats. Sebastian figured that this stretch of the Science Team must be clocking out for a late lunch, he’s never seen any sector’s halls so packed before, unless you count the highest level of top-side customer service and protection from the general and oddball public.*
Christ al’mighty Ah’m jus’ tryn’a git ta mah shift, y’know, th’shift that keeps y’all from actin’ like dogs without horses.. Clearly it ain’t helpin’ much, Jesus.
*After a few more left turns, the checkpoint position he had been assigned comes into view, another guard tapping his fingers on the desk and perking up at the sight of Sebastian.*
“Christ, Seb, what took you so fuckin’ long, eh? Was ‘bout to just clock out and leave this place hanging.”
*Sebastian just chuckled* Yeah, yeah, mighty sorry ‘bout that. Fer some damn reason th’halls were packed full of them lab rats an’ Ah could hardly git past. Go take’a piss an’ then cool off on yer lunch, Pauly, Ah got it from ‘ere.
*The guard scoffed and crossed his arms* “Whatever. Thankfully those old cronies only now just took lunch, what ever reason you’re filed under checkpoint over here, you’ll be glad to know it’s practically empty now. Have fun staring at the wall.”
Yer too kind. Ah take it ya prob’ly scared ‘em off an’-
*There was the faintest rumble between under their feet. Several lights from down the hall suddenly flicker and blow out, the emergency lights immediately turn on, painting the metallic walls an eerie red. Sebastian goes quiet at that, steadily eyeing the darkened hallway and listening close for anything suspicious.*
*Officer Pauly swallows audibly, eyes still on Sebastian* “The hell was tha-“

*The two security guards listened in shocked silence as the automated comms buzzed in and out, the emergency lights flicking at the same time. Sebastian persed his lips in a straight line, taking a deep breath and suddenly pushing Pauly into the checkpoint box*
“THE HELL ARE YOU-?!” *The guard began to shout in protest, before Sebastian tossed him inside and shut the door. Pauly gets up immediately, pounding on the glass* “OI ASSHOLE! The fuck do you think you’re doing?!”
*Sebastian snapped his fingers and put one up to his lips* Quiet. Ah’m goin’ ta check it out. It ain’t lookin’ good on our department if they go an’ lose two men on th’job. Ya sit tight an’ wait it out fer me, ‘kay?
*The guard sputtered a few times at that response, gesturing his hands wildly before sighing and giving up any retort, having known Sebastian long enough to know arguing with him like this is fruitless* “If you go and get yourself killed I won’t be there for whatever shoddy funeral they give you. It’ll be all your fault down to the grave, Seb.”
Thank ya, kindly, Pauly. How ‘bout we go an’ git’a beer with th’boys if Ah make back it in at least 3/4s? Ah’ll make a’bet with ya. *Sebastian clicks off the safety of his pistol and checks the magazine while he talks*
“Wh- Pfft, fucksake, Sebastian. Fine, whatever, I’ll bet. Quit wasting time.”
*Sebastian nods and runs down the hallway, making a salute with his pistol before turning around completely*

The Future of Robots: How Intelligent Machines Are Entering Everyday Life
Tumblr media
The idea of robots helping us at home or work used to be science fiction—but in 2025, it’s fast becoming reality. From robotic arms on factory floors to AI assistants in hospitals and homes, intelligent machines are redefining how we live and work.
Boston Dynamics, a pioneer in robotics, continues to develop lifelike robots that can walk, lift, and move with surprising agility. Their “Stretch” robot is already in use in warehouses to automate package handling. Meanwhile, Tesla’s Optimus project aims to build humanoid robots for general-purpose tasks like cooking or assisting elderly care.
On the software side, Ultimez Technology is developing smart AI logic that can be integrated into robotic platforms. Their HR monitoring model, for example, could easily translate into robot-assisted interview panels or workplace monitoring systems, making it easier for companies to track employee behavior and workplace engagement.
SoftBank’s Pepper robot is being used in retail and hospitality to interact with customers in multiple languages, offering a glimpse into socially intelligent robots.
These machines aren’t just replacing labor—they’re enhancing human capabilities, filling gaps in dangerous or repetitive roles. As AI becomes more intuitive and hardware becomes more agile, we’re looking at a near future where robots will be common coworkers, not just lab experiments.

📍 Who Benefits Most?
E-commerce stores that need scalable revenue
Coaches & course creators building funnels
Finance & insurance firms seeking verified leads
SaaS platforms driving free trial signups
Local businesses expanding digital footprints
Performance marketing isn't just for big brands—it’s for any business that wants more ROI, fewer excuses.

for the isat soundtrack, did you use pre-existing soundfonts, make your own, or didn't use soundfonts? i don't know much about music production so bear with me. also, if the first option, which ones did you use?
Fantastic question!
So there was exactly one song that used sound fonts (the SNES strings), otherwise it's entirely softsynths, multisamplers, and some recorded guitar and bass for a few songs.
If you're just getting started in making music there are a lot of free synths available from Native Instruments, and the Spitfire Audio LABS series has loads of cool free stuff as well. (You can also find bunches of free VSTs online!)
I have a lot of stuff in the studio, but I'll list out some of my current favs:
Xfer Records Serum - It's an absolutely incredible modular synth that has two channel AM/FM/RM modulation, wavetable synthesis, a bunch of really cool built-in effects, and there's so much automation you can do to create really amazing sounds.
Toontrack Superior Drummer - I have v2 + Metal Foundry, but they have a v3 now and loads of libraries available. Super customizable, absolutely the next best thing to just mic'ing up a kit yourself.
SubMission Audio Eurobass III - Honestly such a precise bass multisampler that has really detailed velocity and articulation control. Features heavily in our last album, DOOMTROID.
So to answer your question, a lot of things are either custom-designed in the studio or are built off of multisampling engines and then further modified and EQ'd to have a very particular sound.
I would just like to say that composition is FAR more important than having fancy plugins and experience with sound design and mixing, so go find yourself a bunch of free VSTs and focus on your composition first and learn the engineering part second.

@viriv I’m a lil socially awkward with new people but I wanted to send a little love and appreciation because you are amazing
And, for the record, I did not just freehand the pose. IbisPaint has poses in it for tracing and this would have taken me three hours or more just to get the pose right (and it still would have been all sorts of wrong) because I am a writer who doodles sometimes. Same with the background because I really could not be bothered. I just picked something with squares because Minecraft… yeah
Tumblr media
Although I did color pick everything from your icon/pfp so it would look somewhat correct 😁 I did my best
And, to be extra special, a little extra compensation for me giving you brainrot in the form of a little snippet of a flashback from the untitled Ice Walls sequel:
Tango braced his hands against the table and leaned heavily on them, closing his eyes. A headache was throbbing behind them and he felt wiped.
“Again,” Doc remarked, not looking up from the project he was working on. Some robot for automation that looked completely custom-made.
“What do you mean, ‘again’?” Tango demanded around haggard breathing. “I’ve been doing this for hours. My powers have limits, you know!” A slight sheen of frost crept away from his hands where they were on the table.
Doc finally looked up, his cybernetic red eye glowing. His face impassive. “Oh? Is that what you’re going to say when Lore has your former friends corner you? When you’re backed up against a wall after a long fight and feel like you have nothing left to give. You’re just going to tell them to give you a free pass to get away because your powers are exhausted and you can’t fight back?” Doc stood. “Do you even know what the full limits of your powers are? Have you tried to use them until nothing but a single snowflake comes from your hand? Or have you been a coward and stopped before you truly reached your limit? Have you dug deep into yourself and dredged up the full iceberg?”
“Stop it,” Tango muttered. “Rhetoricals get us nowhere.”
“These aren’t rhetorical, Tango.”
That caught his attention. Doc never called him Tango. It was always Deepfrost, even here. In the Perimeter. Where Tango had shed Deepfrost’s coat for months to get away from that life for a while.
“Have you plumbed into the depths of your powers completely?”
Tango remembered his darkness flickering out while Arctic Fox pinned him to the mat by the throat in training, almost five years ago. The ice dying off his hands. “Once,” he said. “I’d rather not do it again.”
Doc tsked. He flung his cybernetic, prosthetic arm.
The robot’s arm lashed, striking Tango across the chest and throwing him backward. He crashed into the wall and fell to the floor. “What the hell, Doc?” He picked himself back to his feet. “What was that for?”
“Again. And if you don’t want to do it on your own, maybe some outside stimulus will be enough for you to draw on what’s left of your power.”
Tango cocked one arm back and thrust it forward, sending a spray of frozen shards toward Doc.
Who lifted his cybernetic arm to block his face—an energy shield of red light springing into existence from it. He chuckled. “Not bad, as a last-ditch effort,” he remarked, his accent not quite as thick for a moment.
“I’ll show you last-ditch,” Tango spat. He held both arms out and hurled an icicle the size of a human at that energy shield.
The point shattered—but also broke the shield. The rest of the icicle barreled into Doc, sending him staggering back. Tango didn’t stop. His eyes ached as the sclera swam to black and a bubble of darkness exploded out of him with an echo of his heartbeat. Doc’s eye had thermal vision and could pierce the darkness, but Tango dropped to the ground around lab equipment and cooled himself off so that his body heat wouldn’t be seen.
Given his powers, he already ran several degrees colder than normal. His skin was always frigid to the touch. But he was still warm enough to register on a thermal view. He was still human. Just… a human with ice powers.

The Critical Role of Low Tension Insulators in Rail Systems
Low tension insulators serve a fundamental purpose: they electrically isolate conductive components while bearing mechanical loads and withstanding environmental challenges.  In modern rail systems—particularly those with trolley buses and compact conductor rail networks—these insulators must offer high dielectric strength, dimensional stability, and resistance to heat, moisture, and pollution.
The growing trend toward electrified public transportation requires components that can perform flawlessly under continuous load, vibration, and varied weather conditions.  This is where advanced low tension insulator solutions make all the difference.
Applications:  Trolley Buses and Small Conductor Rails
Trolley buses and light rail systems are experiencing a renaissance in many cities due to their energy efficiency and lower emissions.  These systems rely on overhead wires or compact conductor rails to supply electrical energy.  Low tension insulators for trolley buses and small conductor rails ensure that power is transmitted safely and efficiently while preventing current leakage and minimizing the risk of electrical faults.
Radiant Enterprises specializes in tailor-made insulator designs that meet the unique constraints of these applications.  Their insulators are compact yet robust, offering high mechanical strength and excellent electrical performance.
youtube
Why Epoxy Insulators Are the Future
Traditionally, materials like porcelain and glass have been used for insulation, but they are heavy and prone to breakage.  Epoxy resin insulators are fast replacing these older materials, thanks to their superior mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.
As a dedicated epoxy insulator manufacturer, Radiant Enterprises has perfected the use of cast resin technology to produce insulators with excellent tracking resistance, UV stability, and moisture repellence.  Epoxy insulators are also significantly lighter, reducing the overall weight of support structures and improving energy efficiency in mobile applications such as trolley buses.

I haven't posted here in quite a while, but the last year+ for me has been a journey of learning a lot of new things. This is a kind of 'state-of-things' post about what I've been up to for the last year.
I put together a small home lab with 3 HP EliteDesk SFF PCs, an old gaming desktop running an i7-6700k, and my new gaming desktop running an i7-11700k and an RTX-3080 Ti.
"Using your gaming desktop as a server?" Yep, sure am! It's running Unraid with ~7TB of storage, and I'm passing the GPU through to a Windows VM for gaming. I use Sunshine/Moonlight to stream from the VM to my laptop in order to play games, though I've definitely been playing games a lot less...
On to the good stuff: I have 3 Proxmox nodes in a cluster, running the majority of my services. Jellyfin, Audiobookshelf, Calibre Web Automated, etc. are all running on Unraid to have direct access to the media library on the array. All told there's 23 docker containers running on Unraid, most of which are media management and streaming services. Across my lab, I have a whopping 57 containers running. Some of them are for things like monitoring which I wouldn't really count, but hey I'm not going to bother taking an effort to count properly.
The Proxmox nodes each have a VM for docker which I'm managing with Portainer, though that may change at some point as Komodo has caught my eye as a potential replacement.
All the VMs and LXC containers on Proxmox get backed up daily and stored on the array, and physical hosts are backed up with Kopia and also stored on the array. I haven't quite figured out backups for the main storage array yet (redundancy != backups), because cloud solutions are kind of expensive.
You might be wondering what I'm doing with all this, and the answer is not a whole lot. I make some things available for my private discord server to take advantage of, the main thing being game servers for Minecraft, Valheim, and a few others. For all that stuff I have to try and do things mostly the right way, so I have users managed in Authentik and all my other stuff connects to that. I've also written some small things here and there to automate tasks around the lab, like SSL certs which I might make a separate post on, and custom dashboard to view and start the various game servers I host. Otherwise it's really just a few things here and there to make my life a bit nicer, like RSSHub to collect all my favorite art accounts in one place (fuck you Instagram, piece of shit).
It's hard to go into detail on a whim like this so I may break it down better in the future, but assuming I keep posting here everything will probably be related to my lab. As it's grown it's definitely forced me to be more organized, and I promise I'm thinking about considering maybe working on documentation for everything. Bookstack is nice for that, I'm just lazy. One day I might even make a network map...
