Knitting for furby book outline

At this point, I have gathered a pattern outline for this e-book.

As of right now, I have five items drafted (not final or written mind you) and plans for one more that'll serve as an easy starter project for complete knitting newbies to learn about stitch gauge (really important for furby items), how to cast on, join in the round, knit, and cast off in a shorter period of time while still having an end product for your furb.

NOTES ON LEARNING TO KNIT

This will not be a 'learning to knit from scratch book' it is intended as a pattern book that is accessible to all levels of knitter and all budgets. I do intend on having a starting chapter that will walk through supplies, pattern layout, and resources for readers.

That being said, this pattern collection could be a good way to learn knitting as the items are smaller but with standard yarn. and the patterns going in order of difficulty should be helpful.

I am one for making it work so I also want to provide guides for yarn substitutions, altering pieces that are too big, and editing patterns to make completely new pieces.

ON TO THE PATTERNS

the first pattern is not drafted so this is patterns 2-6 ( more may come soon or these may be different in their final written form)

2. CHONK SWEATER

i have a few of these made in my handspun so they're p chonky, making it a quick knit even for beginners. there will be notes on measuring your furb and getting your stitch count based on your gauge.

3. CHONK shawl/ collar/ cape

This is also really simple and quick ( its slightly more difficult due to it being knit flat and needing to do some seeming. This is also in some chunky handspun and needs to be sampled again (this one is a tad small). I will give notes on changing the length to make this a collar, a cape, or a shawl to fit your furbs needs.

4. Worsted weight dress

This iconic witchy sweater dress is where the difficulty increases a tad, but the result is having more room to customize the garment. it is in a worsted weight so smaller yarn but not tiny. it does involve increasing and decreasing in ribbing which isn't hard but can have a learning curve. this pattern will include instructions on making the folded collar and accessorizing the garment.

5. Frilly Shawl/ cape/ collar

This pattern is a sister pattern to the 3rd pattern, it's the same garment type but is a bit more involved. it uses fingering weight and optional mohair for a fuzzy look. this starts flat and is joined in the round to do ribbing, and then stitches on the end are picked up and increased to create a frill/ floof thing.

6. Clown collar

this final pattern uses the same yarns, and techniques as the last pattern but in a different way. this pattern uses some seaming techniques and requires a folded hem (knit or sewn together). this can have as few as one frill and as many as you desire.

The mohair isn't held double so yarn subs will be a bit harder but not impossible. I'm trying to keep all of these yarns to ones that can be picked up at a big box craft store or an lys for accessibility but Mohair maybe the one outlier, but if the halo from the silk mohair isn't necessary for you then a fingering weight (4-ply ) should be okay.

Usually catches everyone off guard as well since they are used to seeing him in more modern outfits (im basing these hcs around 2009 and perchance 2010s idk they change on my mood)

Can handle spicy food pretty well.... Even though he ate a singular taki one time and perished

I saw in his contender mode intro cutscene that his licence plate is custom made (its DISCO-1) which made me think he decorates his car

Like he has a pair of fuzzy dice hanging off the mirror in the front, has like stickers on the dashboard and has like custom made seats-

Also theres this nice looking house in the background with this music note gate, either he is rich or his parents are rich

Or is that normal for people in America to have a house like that, I live in an old af house in Scotland so I defo wouldnt know💀

His favourite color is blue, or pink, or mabye yellow and orange but then again he is a sucker for kitsch patterns-

He loves colour. Ik his ass would HATE to see maximalist antique homes turned into an all white sleek mininalist abyss

Is a beast at roller skating, has a pair of blue and yellow ones with little stars all over.

Hates roller blading tho he says 3 he cant dance properly in them which makes him sad

His hair is originally brown, saw someone at a party with buzzed bleached hair and thought it was so cool he decided to get the same thing

Does calisthenics, has been asked a bunch of questions by other boxers asking him how tf he does it

HATES furbies, had one when he was younger and he put it in a draw in his bedroom after it didnt shut up.

He woke up in the middle of the night to a voice asking to be fed and started crying, turns out it was the flippin furby inside the draw

Has the most perfect comedic timing ever, there is never a dull moment when your with Disco kid

Suprsingly doesnt mind horror films, his fave genre list would probably go 1.horror/thriller 2.Action 3.drama/romance

He was a tumbler in his high school's cheer team and did ballroom for a bit, has a bunch of trophies from cheer and competitive ballroom dancing

Loves going down to a deli and getting a sandwich, usually gets a new filling combination everytime he goes

Has the most amazing wardrobe out of all the boxers, I like to think he is like the 'lewis hamilton' of the W.B.V.A (in terms of style not boxing bless also YALL LEWIS HAMILTONS FASHION SENSE IS SO😼😼😼)

The type of guy who never shuts up when watching a film, he literally ends up narrating the whole thing

Literally never stops moving, if he is standing on the spot he will be tapping his foot or move his head to whatever beat is playing in his head

Also like as no beef or issues with any of the other boxers, some of them (Aran... Wait and perchance idk Soda and stuff yknow) might insult him and would just dance and say "ok! Thats your opinion, Not mine though I think im fabulous anyway"

I’ve been wanting to make a bootleg baby version of the jester furby for a while, but now that I’ve got a real jester furb coming in the mail I decided to make a baby clown instead! her new name is Kazoo (or maybe Noodle…Kazoodle?!) Hello!! I’m cas, Ive been hyper fixated on furbies (among other things) for about a year now. I collect them and customize them!! My friend gifted me one of their old ones at school today. I was repacking my bag so I could fit it in there and then head to class.

While im doing this some person I’ve never seen in my life comes up to me and says

“Hey is that a furby?”

I’m kinda like “yeah haha”

They then say they’ve seen my around school and like my outfits and whatever then continue to say

“That furbies so ugly/creepy!” And then just kind of leave.

This isn’t the first time someone’s said this about my furbies before and it’s just like damn. You don’t HAVE to like furbies but I feel it’s extremely rude to say.

I know this person did not know me but like dude. Why would I have a furby at school if I did not like them 💀 use context clues please

It’s not just been this one time I’ve had friends tell me they are creepy after me talking about my own furbies and how much I MYSELF love them. They don’t have ill intent but it still very much hurts my feelings. I try and shrug it off and not take it too seriously but like still.

Anyways!!! If someone tells you about something they love!! Please be kind!!! Don’t be an asshole!!

i loooove watching doll customization/ art doll videos on youtube. i have pinterest boards full of patterns and tutorials of crafts i wanna do... i want so badly to customize my own dolls. or god make a long furby or something. meanwhile i've made a few outfits for my monster high dolls, and also this thing in college :^)

I'm sure you've posted this somewhere, but I'm curious! Do you have a list of your dream dolls or toys to customize? Like a character you really wanna make or a certain doll you wanna use as a base? It's fun hearing about your customization projects!

ok so i tend to bounce around a lot and get lots of ideas, and its very calming to think like "i want a custom of this character!" or "what if i made a custom furby based around these theme!

and i find it really calming to just sit and break down the process in my head like "i think this american girl face mold would work best, and i'd need this wig, and this fabric, and oh i think i know s good way to make that character's signature hat!"

most of my lofty goals involve just. getting better at sewing. i want to be able to make more complex outfits for my dolls, also i want to learn more about like. how to make stuffed animal patterns. like i want to know how pieces fit together enough that i can make up my own patterns

right now i have some fabric with a pink gingham pattern and i'd love to make that one cute dress from the barbie movie, i actually have an 18 inch doll sized petticoat and sunhat already.

i'd also love to make a doll of Winnie Foster from Tuck Everlasting but the type of dress a girl like winnie would have worn in 1893 is!!!! very elaborate!!!!

Tbh I personally would not change them at all, for the rarity alone/preserving, but I won't be upset if a person is to fix up the eyelashes, remove staining, etc

Eyechips, I would only change out with another Furby's just to keep them as authentic as possible. Unless you could design new eyes and have them look as close as possible to the original

I could definitely see very very light customizing going on. Such as an outfit or hat. Nothing permanent to the piece itselr

Hello furblr. As some of you may know I have recently come into the possession of a fresh new look elephant (one with a black face plate). They are in working condition and their only current imperfection is that they’re missing part of their eyelashes on one side. As a furby customizer, I really do want to customize it, but understand that this being a rare furby, I should prioritize preservation first. As such, I don’t want to do anything irreversible. Would it be appropriate to change the eyechips? Should I replace the eyelashes, and if so, should I use false lashes or maybe try to find eyelashes from another furby?
