OP I do need you to know that the morons are in no way new; back when pasteurization was first being pushed for, LOADS of people were against it (though the modern idiots are more annoying to deal with, as they flagrantly ignore DECADES of evidence).
Tl;dr: People have always been weirdly against the idea of boiling their milk.
Folks were aware of the nasty stuff in milk for ages. A New York Times' article from around 1858 suggested about 8,000 children had died the previous year due to impure milk, and German chemist Franz von Soxhlet first suggested applying Louis Pasteur's method of wine sanitation to milk in 1886. Since pasteurization didn't become standard practice in the United States until the 1930s, you can probably guess how popular that idea was!
People complained that pasteurized milk lost its flavor and/or nutritional value (I'm sure all those bacteria must have added a delightful aftertaste). We even have examples of straight-up lies being spread in defense of raw milk; In 1898 the American Pediatric Society warned "feeding babies heated [pasteurized] milk could lead them to develop scurvy." (obviously very much not true! Why would you lie about scurvy specifically, we already know what causes that!)
For a time, people were more willing to drink milk that had formaldehyde added to it than milk that had been pasteurized--which sparked this delightful quote: upon being asked if if he really thought formaldehyde in milk was really that bad for infants, Indiana’s chief public health officer, John Newell Hurty, replied “Well, it’s embalming fluid that you are adding to milk. I guess it’s all right if you want to embalm the baby.”
In 1908, the Surgeon General released a 600-page report attributing most childhood deaths at the time to impure milk and advocating for widespread pasteurization (better late than never). Even then, people weren't super on board (I'm just gonna screenshot this bit whole, because I don't think I could do it justice)
[Image ID: A screenshot of text that reads "Despite the mounting scientific evidence, pasteurization still spread slowly. Beyond nutritional concerns, some feared that it was just a superficial intervention. As one commentator noted in a March 1908 issue of Outlook, “Wholesale pasteurization, while lulling consumers into a false sense of security, would vastly increase the burdens of milk inspectors and make their work more difficult if not entirely impossible.” / Others bemoaned the high costs of pasteurization and argued that it could lead to other maladies. In Chicago, for example, Alderman Jacob Hey called it “false science” and said it was the cause of rickets and scurvy." End of ID.]
Thats right, people have been complaining about "fake science" for over 100 years! Yay!
Again, pasteurization didn't become widespread in the United States until the 1930s, about 50 years after Franz von Soxhlet first suggested it. Because we REALLY like drinking our milk as gross and bacteria-laden as possible.
(Sources linked under the cut)
people in western countries used to get brucellosis, tuberculosis, q fever, etc from milk all the time and then we ended that with pasteurization programs and now a bunch of morons are like "actually getting a horrible disease from drinking milk owns. we need raw milk."
#wolfy speaks#hey OP i hope you dont mind my addition#i did a 3000 word paper abt the history of dairy/cows last year and awaited an excuse to bring up how much ppl hated pasteurization#i seriously recommend learning about the push for pasteurization its really interesting imo#did you know milk distributors used to add various contaminants to hide the fact that their milk was spoiled/off-color?#such additives includeeeeee molasses egg shells chalk and pureed cow brains apparently!#on one occasion a family found worms in their milk because the company tried to thin the batch with stagnant water!#indiana's department of health estimated that the citizens of Indianapolis consumed over 2000 pounds of manure every year#cus it just kept winding up in milk!#in the 1880s a group of researchers from New Jersey found so many bacteria colonies in milk that they stopped trying to count!#basically there was SO MUCH gross stuff in milk back then you guys#if you get teleported back in time do NOT drink any milk. i mean there are def other things to avoid too#but absolutely add milk to your do not eat list

A/N: sorry if this is messy, not really proofread
“Pancakes? Jaemin, you didn’t have to.” You grinned as you sat down at the kitchen counter, legs swinging with happiness as you eyed him with hungry eyes.
“Hmmm? Oh, yeah, I– uh, promised Renjun ‘cus he drove ‘n stuff.” Jaemin cleared his throat awkwardly as he stared unnecessarily hard at the batter.
Your eyes flicked up to study his face, muscles taut from concentration. You couldn’t help but notice the way that Jaemin was acting around you. Jaemin had always been the friendly type, the first to start up a conversation, never the type to allow awkward moments overtake him.
But here he was, standing across from you with the most overwhelming tension hanging across the room you had ever felt.
And you couldn’t help but feel that you were the cause.
“Thank God! I knew I could trust you.” Renjun stumbled into the kitchen, interrupting any inclination to personally ease the tension. He opened the fridge, digging around for the milk before lugging it out with a frown, “You want us to set the table?”
Happy to have something to interact with besides you, Jaemin nodded, mumbling something about syrup in the fridge.
You slid off your stool, following Renjun around the kitchen in search of finding the plates and forks.
“How’d you sleep?” Renjun asked you, opening the top cabinet above the sink, straining on the tip of his toes to see that it was just a few left over pots and pans.
“Oh, fine. Although it was really windy out last night, I kept hearing something outside, like banging on the window or something. Scared the shit out of me at first, but I got used to it.”
Jaemin stopped still at your words, dropping the spatula on the counter, ringing out for a few seconds.
You paused, sparing him a slight glance, noting the stiff look on his face.
“Wind? No, it wasn’t windy at all last night.” Renjun frowned looking in another drawer. “Maybe it was an animal.”
Brows furrowing, you nodded, remembering that you did happen to hear the familiar whining of an animal last night.
You moved to open the drawer to the right of Jaemin, flinching slightly as he bumped into you, happening to make a move at the same time.
“Shit.” He slipped out, his lips parted as he looked down at you, face turning bright red as he stilled against your touch. It was only for a moment, but perhaps it was longer.
“Sorry.” You mumbled shyly, the uncontrollable urge to laugh away your nerves taking over you.
“Uh, yeah, no it’s okay.” He cleared his throat, returning his attention to the pan with more concentration than needed.
“You need help?” Jeno’s voice cut across the room, louder than necessary, as if making a point, his eyes trained on the short distance between you and Jaemin.
“Would you find some cups?” Renjun answered for the both of you, too busy digging through the fridge to notice the tension in the room.
Muttering something under his breath, Jeno forced his way into the kitchen, pulling open the cabinet on the other side of the fridge, watching you from the side of his eye as you made your way to the table.
Grabbing a stack of cups, he followed you. Only after setting the glasses down did he put his hand on your lower back, pressing against you as inconspicuously as he could.
“Morning doll.”
You went rigid at the sound of his voice rumbling just on the edge of your ear, running chills down your spine. The way that his words just slipped off his tongue had you squirming right then and there.
“Pancakes!” Haechan bounced into the room, Mark in tow, with far too much enthusiasm for the morning.
Haechan eyed you up and down, eyes flicking towards Jeno for a split second before sporting a shit-eating grin.
“Yeah, sit down, I’m almost done.” Jaemin mumbled, staring at the bubbling batter, thankful for the fact that the rest of the boys were here.
God, what a blubbering mess he was. Was he that ashamed of himself that he couldn’t look you in the eye?
How would he last two more days?
You could feel each pair of eyes pierce you as you shrugged off your shirt, laying down on the lawn chair on the side of the pool.
“Not gonna swim?” Jeno asked, stance stiff and towering over you, ripped torso teasing you. Leaving you wishing that you could watch the way that water would pass over each crevice of his abs.
“...Y/N, Y/N! You listening to me?”
“Hmm?” You shook your head, realizing that you had been zoned out for longer than you hoped.
“Like what you see?” He chuckled, stretching slightly, showing off his groin, taunting you.
You turned a bright red, biting at your lip as you averted your attention to the other boys shoving each other in the water.
“Come in Y/N!” Mark laughed, sputtering as Haechan splashed him with tons of water.
“Yeah, go on.” Jeno urged you, pulling gently at your wrist, eating up the sight of you in a bikini.
Sighing, you understood the look in his eyes, the urging, and stood up, brushing the nonexistent dust off your legs as you did.
“Can’t wait to see you all wet for me.” He teased with a laugh, eyes smiling at your expression.
“Shut up.” You muttered under your breath, face heating up, turning away so that the rest of the boys couldn’t see.
In doing so, however, you allowed a good few seconds where you let your guard down. Meaning that Haechan took this opportunity to shove you into the pool.
The splash flew far enough that it reached Jeno who was standing a good few feet away from the edge. You gasped for away as you emerged from the water, sputtering and wiping the water from your eyes.
“Haechan!” You didn’t need to see him to know who it was.
Just as you were able to open your eyes again, Haechan jumped in, undoing any progress you had made.
Unfortunately for Haechan, you weren’t the only one who was attacked by his jump. Renjun was not one to just take it.
The moment Haechan came back up for air Renjun attacked him with a fierce look in his eyes, teeth gritted with determination to make the former suffer.
Haechan laughed, grabbing at the closest thing to shield him, which just so happened to be you. He grabbed at your waist, hiding behind you as you got the full brunt of Renjun’s splash.
“Hey!” You cried out, a mix between a laugh and cry for help.
Jeno’s eyes burned at the way that his fingers stuck to your skin.
Though it was his goal to get you into the pool, for some reason he was resenting ever coming up with the idea. Unknowingly, the thorns of jealously bubbling inside of him.
Jeno shoved you against the counter, face coming so close you could see the flakes in his eyes. “You think you’re cute huh? Flouncing around in your little swimsuit, showing off like you don’t know the boys are thirsting after you? Hmm?” He all but growled in your ear.
His lower half pressed against yours, forced a whimpering sigh from you that you so badly tried to hold in. “You like that huh? You like the thought of them just right outside, knowing that you’re fucking wetter than the pool just by the way that you press against me.”
You bit down hard on your lip, trying your best to muffle your sounds, but ignoring the pain because the way that Jeno’s fingers danced along the fabric of your suit was so tantalizing.
“Bet Jaemin likes it.” Jeno bit into your neck, sloppy kisses not enough for him.
“Jaemin?” You managed to whisper out, mind not yet able to get a grip on his words, too messed up to concentrate on what he meant.
Long fingers pushed past the fabric, tapping teasingly at your clit with a chuckle. “You think he’d like to watch?”
You moaned at the way his fingers slid into your pussy, slick just about dripping down the length of his arm. “Maybe I should let him.”
Your mind was hazy, not even quite sure if he really meant it, but he nearly laughed out loud as he felt you squeeze around his fingers at his words.
“Yeah, you like that?”
His movements sped up, jaw clenching, watching your every movement with focused eyes, as if he had something to prove.
Your back stung slightly from the edge of the counter digging into your skin, but at that moment you were distracted by the way Jeno’s fingers were working into your cunt. Gritting your teeth, desperate to not give him the satisfaction of your moans, your head flung back slightly and you were sure you could taste the metallic taste of blood on your tongue.
“Jesus Jeno.” You groaned, hand moving to grip onto his shoulder, like you would collapse without him there to hold you up.
“Hmmm.” He replied, but not taking his eyes off of the way that his fingers were sliding in and out of you, slick covering his fingers with every new thrust.
You tugged him closer, sinking your face into the crook of his neck, one hand tangling in his hair, the other doing its best to keep you standing. Jeno placed kisses on your shoulder, biting slightly into your skin to leave marks as his fingers worked faster and harder.
“Fuck, Jeno.” You cried, clenching around his fingers, every muscle in your body tensing at the feeling.
He didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but to be fair, it was kind of hard not to.
Renjun backed away behind the corner, leaning his head against the wall with his eyes screwed shut. Knowing that he should just turn around and leave, hating that he couldn’t seem to make his feet move.
Much to his chagrin, his head popped back around the corner, not needing to strain at all to get a good look at the two of you. He licked his lips as his face turned red with embarrassment when he found his hand adjusting himself over his swim trunks.
Already he could feel his bulge grow, just the wet sounds coming from between your thighs and your moans were enough to get him hard, fingertips playing with the hem of his shorts. It would be so easy to get off right now to the sight, but Renjun couldn’t let himself go that far.
Or could he? You let out the most erotic moan he had ever heard and that tipped his conscious over the edge, hand digging into his shorts, shaking slightly from the fresh feeling of his fingers stroking his dick.
As your high came closer and closer, as your moans quickened, so did his hand, begging himself to come unison with you.
He gasped softly and whined as he came, cum spilling over his fist and running down the insides of his shorts. Renjun’s chest heaved in attempt to catch his breath, which soon hitched in his throat as he caught a glimpse of Jeno’s fingers pulling out of your core, your own cum sticking to his fingers.
God, he could fucking smell you from here.
“Truth or dare Y/N.”
“No, this is stupid. What are we, twelve?”
“Come on Y/N, just do it.” Jeno eyed you with a stern look.
You rolled your eyes, leaning back further against the couch with a defeated expression.
“Choose, or we’re gonna have to choose for you.” Haechan teased with a large grin.
“Truth.”
“Lame.” He sang out before leaning forward, a knowing look in his eye as he stared you down. “But I can work with that. Who’s the last guy you fucked?”
To say your eyes nearly bulged out of your head would be an understatement.
“Haechan!” Renjun hissed out, glaring at him, but mostly avoiding eye contact with you.
Mark nudged Haechan’s side with a shake of his head, “Really dude? Don’t be so pervy.”
“I’m not,” He shrugged, “She doesn’t have to answer if she doesn’t want to, she can just drink, right Y/N?”
You bit your tongue, refusing to look at Jeno, knowing that it would make it too obvious. As if everyone didn’t already know.
“This is so stupid.” You grumbled, reaching for the glass, ready to down whatever hell mixture they concocted.
“Ew, you’re actually going to drink that?” Jaemin’s face scrunched at the thought, leaning away from you, as if he could smell it from there.
It was like your body was rejecting it, the way your body shook after you downed it. “God damn, what was in that?”
“Whatever we found in the kitchen.” Jeno grinned, nodding at you, “You’re turn.”
You grimaced before washing your mouth out with a bit of water, “Renjun, truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Lame.” Haechan sang again, wide grin on his face as he noticed the annoyed look Renjun sent him.
“How many girls do you pull?” You cocked your head to the side with a little smile, knowing that it would fluster him.
And you were right, his face was already turning pink, “I don’t know what you mean.”
“Oh come on, that whole tortured artist thing has to get you girls.”
Jaemin nodded with a bright smile, like he couldn’t wait to expose his friend. “He won’t say, but I’ve seen his DM’s. He’s got triple the amount Haechan gets.”
“Hey!”
Renjun raised his eyebrows at Haechan’s reaction, happy to have a little victory over him, “Yeah, he’s right. Triple.”
Jeno snorted beside him, “That’s not saying much though.”
“Dude, come on.” Haechan whined, suddenly getting attacked every which way, not even having Mark on his side anymore, as he was too busy laughing his ass off. “Alright, move on. Ask someone else already Renjun.”
You bit your lip to hold back your giggles at his way of redirecting the attention.
“Fine. Jaemin, truth or dare?”
“Dare.”
“Atta boy.” Jaemin sent Haechan a grin before turning to Renjun again.
“I dare you... to drink a cup of jungle juice.” A collective grumble ran through the room, all of you thinking it, but only one tacky enough to say it.
“Dude, what? That’s so lame.” Haechan groaned, deflating at the dare.
“I’m sorry! I suck at giving out dares, you know that.” Renjun shot back, eyebrows narrowing at the rest of them, “You come up with one then.”
“I will. Jaemin, I dare you to go skinny dipping right now.”
“Right now? It’s cold as fuck outside.” Jaemin frowned, turning his neck to look outside at the pool.
“Or you can be lame and just drink.” You couldn’t help but feel like that was directed at you.
“Shit, you right.” Jaemin stood up, tugging his shirt off, showing off a nice set of abs before walking towards the door. He took his time stripping himself of his pants, standing with only his boxers and socks in front of the glass door.
“I’m keeping my underwear on.”
“No way, skinny dipping means naked.” Haechan shook his head.
Jaemin looked back at the rest of the group, hoping for some kind of relief.
“He’s right.” Jeno shrugged when his best friend shot him a look.
“Dude, come on, my dick will shrivel up out there.” For some reason he locked eyes with you, as if you would have mercy on him and save his ass.
You blushed, caught staring at his body and quickly looking away, but not before Jeno noticed.
“Nah dude. Skinny dipping is naked.” Jeno said, staring him down with heated eyes.
“Fuck.” Jaemin grumbled, muttering to himself under his breath as he opened the door, “Y/N, don’t look.”
You felt yourself heating up as you turned to face Renjun, his face not looking much different than your own.
All you heard was a splash and a string of curse words, a few moments later Jaemin was shouting about a towel.
Mark laughed, running to the bathroom to grab one for the guy, least he could do as he was freezing his nuts off.
“Fuck you all.” He mumbled once he was situated and fully clothed again, the only sign of him jumping in the water was his wet hair and slightly purpled lips, not that you were looking. “Who’s up?”
“Do Jeno.” Renjun nodded at him, leaning back on his arms, feeling comfortable now that his turn was over.
“Alright, truth or dare?”
“Truth.” Jeno wasn’t particularly looking forward to a revenge dare, not after making Jaemin go commando in the pool.
“Where’s the craziest place you’ve ever had sex?” Jaemin deadpanned, not quite over his betrayal.
An awkward silence hung over the room, and you were on edge, the idea that Jeno could expose you right here and now was sending nerves through you.
To your surprise, and everyone else’s, Jeno shook his head, reaching for the cup in the middle and downing it before anyone could object.
Why did he do that? Was it because he didn’t want anyone to know?
Why were you even upset, didn’t you want to keep it a secret?
Or was it because it wasn’t with you? What if he wasn’t going to say the car?
Your heart deflated slightly at the realization that he’s had lots of sex with other people, probably more exciting, and better.
“Shit, that really is bad.”
The rest of you stared at him like he had grown a second head.
He smacked his lips with a disgusted look on his face, setting the cup down while looking around nonchalantly at the rest of you.
“Haechan truth or dare?”
“Me? But I already went. Do Mark.” Haechan whined slightly, not one to turn down a dare, but something about the look in Jeno’s eyes worried him a bit.
“Truth or dare?”
“Dare.” His eyes shook slightly, fingers playing with the hem of his pants.
“I dare you... to call the last girl you ghosted.”
To be honest, it was a doable dare, a lot easier than you were expecting.
“Jeno...” Haechan whined, ears burning as he remembered who he was dealing with. “You know it’s Kasey.”
Jeno smirked. “And?”
“She’s crazy, if I unblock her she’ll think that means I love her. Dude, come on, you know her. Don’t do this to me.” Your brows furrowed at this, Haechan looked genuinely worried.
Jeno just shrugged. “That or the drink.”
“But that’s lame.” Jaemin stuck his tongue out slightly, grinning at the way that this would torment him.
Just knowing that the rest of the guys would hold that over his head for eternity, Haechan couldn’t just say no to the dare.
“Jesus Christ.” He mumbled, fingers typing at his phone, pausing over the contact. “If she fucking...” He groaned, running his hand through his hair with a glare pointed at each one of you. “I’ll kill you guys.”
Ri–
Not even half a ring and the call was picked up.
“Honey bear?”
A collective giggle erupted throughout the room.
“Honey bear?” Renjun hissed, laughing silently as tears were starting to fall. He was a met by a furious glare.
“Kasey... -boo...” Haechan refused to look any one else in the eye, embarrassed enough as it was.
“I knew you’d call, you can’t seem to stay away for long.” The sickly sweet voice screeched from the other side. “You know I’ve been missing you lately at night, the other night I was thinking of you when I–”
Haechan turned off the speaker, fumbling with the phone desperately before hanging up without letting her finish, face bright red, a mix of embarrassment and anger.
However to his horror, his phone lit up again almost immediately, Kasey calling back to finish what she had started.
“Answer it dude. Don’t keep your Kasey-boo waiting.” Mark laughed, grabbing at the phone to get a better glimpse.
“Shut up. All of you.” He declined the call, swiftly blocking her again. “Not funny.”
“Aw, she wasn’t that bad.” You sat up, smiling lightly at him.
“Not that bad? That’s not even the tip of the iceberg. Chick is crazy on steroids–”
Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring.
“What the fuck?” Mark stared at his phone, an unknown number flashing on the screen.
“Dude, don’t fucking answer it. It’s her, I swear.” Haechan actually sounded a little scared at the thought.
“It’s not her.” Mark’s finger hesitated over the accept button, “There’s no way.” But it really sounded like he was trying to convince himself.
“Honey Bear?!” Mark flinched, pulling his phone away from his ear, all of you able to hear the scream on the other end without the need of speaker. He dropped his phone, Haechan scrambling to end the call and block her as well.
“How the hell did she get my number?” Mark whispered shouted, though there really was no need to, almost like he was worried she could hear him.
“I fucking told you.” He said with a slight air of arrogance, but also fear. “None of you fucking answer your phones now.”
The room fell quiet as you all stared at each other, slightly miffed at what just happened.
Moving on, Haechan returned to face the circle, eager for his revenge. “Jeno, truth or dare?”
“Truth.” Jeno leaned back, head tilting to the side, as if asking him to bring it.
“Have you ever caught feelings for someone you shouldn’t have?” Haechan’s lips turned up with a slight smirk, knowing exactly what he was doing.
Just for a second Jeno’s face faltered, but then he plastered on the stoic look again before shooting his head back, swallowing the remnants of the newly made drink.
He didn’t pause for a moment, glaring at the other boy, ignoring the rest of you like you weren’t part of the game any longer.
“Truth or dare.” Though he didn’t address anyone, it was clear to the room that it was directed at Haechan. Everyone’s head turned to find him, curious to his response, much more invested than you had intended to me.
“Truth.” Haechan tried to hide it, but it was clear there was a little twinge of fear behind his voice.
Jeno’s eyes grew more intense. “Have you ever fucked your own fist while thinking about your best friends’ girlfriend?”
It wasn’t as if the room could even get quieter, but the atmosphere grew tenser, unknown tension between them. Your eyes met briefly with Mark’s before he shrugged, looking away to take in the drama.
Haechan gritted his teeth and drank.
“Y/N truth or dare?”
You almost jumped at the sudden mention of yourself, not expecting that the boys even remembered that the rest of you were there, let alone even playing the game. You were so caught up in their little personal fight that you had totally forgot that you were playing too.
“Ummm... dare?”
Haechan sucked his bottom lip into his mouth, loving the way that you were playing right into his game.
“I dare you to give me a hickey.”
By this time, the alcohol had kicked in, whatever was in that mix was definitely working, hitting you harder than normal.
You sent Jeno a look, loving the way that he seemed to stare you down with jealousy, something you would’ve never imagined would happen. Something inside you ballooned at the feeling.
Crawling across the makeshift circle, you let your hands fall on Haechan’s knees, looking up at him as you got closer. You loved the way that his Adam’s apple bobbed in anticipation.
You could feel the rest of the boys’ eyes trained on you, and you didn’t seem to mind, only one pair of eyes really mattered to you. Your hands found their way into Haechan’s hair as you settled onto his lap, his hands automatically grabbing at your lower back to steady you, to bring you closer.
“Ready?” You mumbled, head already falling towards his neck before he could even respond. You peppered light kisses in the crook of his neck, noting the small purple marks, deciding that you were going to have to cover those up.
His grip on your waist tightened as you ground against his crotch, nose diving deeper into his honey skin, more addicting than you had expected. Tugging at his hair slightly to pull out another delicious moan as his hips raised to get more friction, you nipped at the skin gently before pulling away.
Haechan’s chased after you slightly before realizing that you were done, keeping you on his lap for a moment more as you got a good look at his fucked out expression just begging for more. Hair mussed up, shirt drooping off his shoulder, and length hard against your thigh.
The silence in the room was heavy before he broke it with a chuckle. “Well damn.”
You inched off him, making your way back to your spot, “Happy now?” Sparing Jeno a glimpse, noting the way that his fist unclenched as you settled onto the floor.
“Yeah.” He breathed out, moving to stand up in hopes to hide his hard on, now incredibly eager to go to bed and finish what you had started. “I’m gonna call it a night.”
“Yeah me too.” Jaemin spoke up after clearing his throat, eyes fixated on the spot that Haechan once sat.
Renjun moved to stand, not quite acknowledging the situation, only bidding you a good night when he was nearly out of the room.
“Mark?” Jeno asked, head turning towards him with determined eyes, “You gonna stay up with us?”
“Huh? Oh–uh..”
“Oh come on, you aren’t tired yet are you?” He teased at the older boy, seeming to egg him on the best that he could, not that Mark really needed all that much convincing. “Another round of truth or dare?”
God, what was he playing at?
“Uhh... I guess.”
“Y/N, you’ll play too won’t you?”
That was a rhetorical question.
It wasn’t like you had much of a choice.
“Yeah...”
“Great.” He clapped his hands together, scooting in closer so that the circle was tighter for the three of you.
“Mark, truth or dare?”
“Dare?” It was clear Mark wasn’t sure of himself, not understanding at just what Jeno was playing at.
“I dare you to take a body shot off Y/N.”
“What?”
“You heard me, a body shot off of Y/N.”
Mark glanced at you with wide eyes, as if asking your permission tentatively, like he was considering it.
“No, pass me the cup.” He shook his head, looking back at the ground.
Jeno didn’t move.
“Y/N’s fine with it, aren’t you. I mean you saw how eager she was to fulfill Haechan’s dare.”
There was definitely a bit of malice behind his words, hinting at the idea that you were horny for anything that breathes.
“No, just pass the me cup.” He refused to look at either of you.
“Tell him Y/N.”
You swallowed thickly before clearing your throat with a nod. “Yeah, it’s fine.”
Mark hesitated for a moment, but decided against his urges. “Dude, no just give me the drink.”
“Why, Y/N not good enough for you?”
Mark turned red, just eyeing the cup, “Come on man.”
“Y/N wants you to.”
Mark’s hand dropped in his lap, defeated, giving you a little glance before coming to terms with it.
“Y/N, you wanna lie down for him? I’ll grab the stuff.”
You nodded silently, glancing up at both boys under your lashes, hating the way that you were feeling excited. For once, absolutely loving the attention you were about to receive.
By the time Jeno left the room, you were already in the process of peeling your shirt off, noting the way that Mark couldn’t seem to pull his eyes from your body.
You laid down in front of him, propping your head up slightly to see Jeno return.
“Good girl.” He eyed you up and down, smearing a generous amount of salt over your breasts, down your neck, and pouring a puddle of vodka on your belly.
Jeno shoved the lime in your mouth with a smirk. “Alright Mark, all yours.”
He sat back on his haunches, watching with almost greedy eyes.
Mark scooted closer, doing his best to avoid eye contact. “Sorry.” He muttered, falling closer towards your chest.
You bit your lip, watching as his head lowered, eyes shutting as his tongue poked at the skin, chest automatically rising up as you chased after the feeling. He seemed to get lost in the feeling, spending longer than necessary in the valley of your breasts, traveling up to the crook of your neck.
Jeno cleared his throat.
At the sound, Mark seemed to come out of his spell, sucking at the alcohol that was laying in the divot of your stomach. A small whine slipped out past your lips, hips raising to meet lips.
At last he pulled up to your own lips, tugging the lime from your lips, brushing against your lips ever so slightly but pulling away before he could give you a real kiss.
Mark backed off, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.
“Y/N, I dare you to suck me off.”

Day 11 is here.
Today’s update is extra long, so I have included a read more break to not completely destroy everyone’s timelines.
“Are you sure this is the right way?” Jason asked. The dark hallways of Science Tower One reminded him of his father’s video games; a maze of doors, winding hallways, vaulted ceilings made of the same bits, rearranged over and over again.
“It’s not.” Linn replied. “Not if we’re trying to get back to control. But we’re not.”
“Are you going to eat me?”
Linn stopped. She spun around with a hop. To Jason, she moved like a small bird, deliberate and graceful with bursts of erratic speed. “Eat you? Did that translate right?”
“You say we’re going to find your friend but we’re just wandering in the dark.” Jason said. “And the teeth and claws and stuff.”
“You don’t like my claws?”
“It’s not-” Jason shook his head. “Just, if you’re going to eat me, give me a head start.”
Linn lowered her head but kept her snout forward, her neck curving gracefully, the feathers on her forearms fanning out as she clicked the large, curved, sickle-like claws on each foot against the floor. “Why would I give you a head start when I could just GOBBLE YOU UP!”
She lunged forward, jaws snapping open, her sharp teeth bared. Jason leapt backward. The back of his left leg caught the edge of the cylindrical decorative planter behind him, sending him tumbling, gracelessly, over a squat fern of what was (until today) an extinct species.
Jason started to struggle to his feet in a panic when he heard Linn laughing. Her laughter came in bursts, starting as musical giggles then rising to full guffaws before halting with an inhalation of breath that sounded a bit like a goose honking.
“Are you-” Linn managed to say through her laughter. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” Jason said. Linn extended a clawed hand and, after a moment’s hesitation, he took it. It was smooth and scaled and softer than he expected. He could feel her claws against his skin, but as she helped him to his feet he did not feel even a scratch. Even when his weight shifted unexpectedly as he untangled himself from the plant.
“Sorry, I couldn’t resist. And your face, the look on your face!” Linn laughed.
Jason flushed with embarrassment, his brown skin turning a darker shade for a moment. He leaned against a smooth section of the hallway wall. “Okay, yeah, if I’d been watching it would have been funny. But if you didn’t lure me down here to eat me-”
“You can talk and you’re not cooked, why would I eat you?” Linn paused. “You do cook your not-talking food, right?”
“Yeah, we cook our food, most of the time.” Jason replied. “And we don’t eat anything that talks... that we know of.”
“Score two for humanity.” Linn laughed. “If we go to control, the adults are just going to put us in a corner until they figure everything out. So I’m being helpful, we’re going to meet Kyle where he’s going.”
“Where is-” The lights flickered on suddenly. Jason snapped his eyes closed against the sudden burst of light.
“HEY THERE!-”
Jason turned to see the face of another dinosaur with its jaws wide open. He once against screamed and leapt back. This time Linn was there to catch him.
“-CU-CU-CUSTOMER!” The dinosaur was behind the wall Jason had been leaning on, which he could now see was a panel of black glass. The Dinosovian in the mirror resembled a green Tyrannosaurus Rex, though proportioned more like a human being and wearing a shiny, tailored purple jacket over a bodysuit similar to the one Linn wore.. He seemed vaguely plastic, a bit too angular, and his head plumage was coiffed into a ridiculous crest. “You look like you could use a snack with b-b-b-b-bite!”
“Hey Mister Bite!” Linn chirped as if the creature were a life-long friend.
“Cu-cu-customer Linn-in-in.” The pitchman seemed to twitch and relocate within the glass as he spoke, An assortment of packages materialized around him, “Good to see you again. What can I g-g-get you?”
“It’s a vending machine?”
“You haven’t heard of Mister B-b-b-bite?” The pitchman turned its attention to Jason. “You must have been living under a r-r-r-ock.”
“Is it broken?” Jason asked. “Why does it talk like that?”
“It’s called sh-sh-showmanship!” Mister Bite replied.
“Yeah, that’s kinda Mister Bite’s deal.” Linn said, turning her own attention to the screen. “Two Chomp-Chomps, a Drom-sized Splort, and- Jason what do you eat?”
“What?”
“Mostly meat, mostly veg?”
“Mix of both?”
“Make that two Drom-sized Splorts, and a Cerowrap.”
“Coming right up, Cu-cu-customer Linn!” A series of clanking noises and thumps came from behind the wall as a short, catchy tune filled the air. “C-c--communications are down, your account will be debited once connections are re--re-restored!”
A small door, previously indistinguishable from the rest of the wall, opened, and a tray extended from it. On the tray were a pair of red plastic pitchers with silver writing that the translator told Jason’s mind was Dinosovian for “Splort!” Next two it were what looked like a pair of candy bars in silver wrappers and what appeared to be a burrito made with an unfamiliar leaf in place of a tortilla.
“Thank you, Mister Bite.” Linn shoved one of the pitchers and the leaf-wrap into Jason’s hands.
“No Pr-pr-problem! Come back when you need more B-b-bite in your d-d-day!” The plastic pitchman then vanished, the screen going blank, once again becoming a pane of black glass.
“All this talk of eating you made me hungry.” Linn tore the wrapper off the first ‘Chomp-Chomp’. Jason had expected a candy bar of some stripe, but the package contained a tube of cured meat covered in a breading that was mostly small seeds. She took a bite.
Jason sniffed his wrap. It smelled like lettuce with a hint of mint. Under that lay the smell of unfamiliar spices and a hint of something meaty. “So is Mr. Bite like, artificially intelligent or just prerecorded?”
“Low-end AI, programmed to sell food, make small talk and tell some jokes.” Linn replied. “How do your vending machines work?”
“We push buttons.”
“Just like the ones in Historic Tuskaroon!” Linn chirped. “We went there one year on vacation. I got to shoot a brigand with a crossbow, I was all-”
Linn mimed firing the crossbow, then hopped to where she had aimed it.
“And he was all-” and acted as though the bolt had struck her in the chest, grabbing the impact with a claw and dramatically flopping to the ground. “Ugh!”
Jason took a wary bite of his wrap. The leaf crunched, and tasted much like it smelled, like minty lettuce. The fillings were warm, something that tasted like almonds but was soft like baked beans, a ground, lightly spiced meat that was vaguely pork-like in texture and flavor, and a savory sauce. “This isn’t bad. What kind of meat is this?”
“Dragonfly.” Linn replied. She took a drink from her pitcher, holding it up and gently pouring into her mouth. “But its totally super-processed.”
"Gross.” Jason said. He took another bite anyway. He took an awkward sip from his pitcher. It was carbonated, like a soda and it tasted like coffee and almond milk with a hint of tropical fruit.
“Huh...” Linn paused. “I just realized we don’t know if you can eat this stuff.”
“It doesn’t taste poisonous.” Jason said.
“But you could be allergic or something. Maybe you should just let me-”
Jason noticed that both of Linn’s ‘Chomp Chomp’ wrappers were empty. “We can go back if you’re still hungry.”
“Eh, maybe in a bit.” Linn stopped in her tracks.
“What is it?”
Linn turned to the wall on their left. A heavy door large enough to drive a car through was stuck, half-open. Or, more accurately, half of the door and a section of the wall was missing, Beyond the empty gap was a large, dark room.
“This is Project Zero.”
“I don’t come from your time, please explain.” Jason replied.
“All the Science Towers have cutting edge science projects, some are classified. One in five dinos here work on Project Zero but no one talks about it.” She stepped through the gap, her tail swishing behind her.
“Wait, you said it was top secret.”
She stuck her head out of the door. “Which means if we’re going to find out what it is, we need to do it now, when no one is around to catch us.”
--
“Monsters! You have monsters just wandering around and you didn’t think to tell us?” Sheriff Horne glared at the human Gloria Anning. She and Sagan were the only ones in the control room when she finally made it up stairs.
“Describe the monster... was it furry with big claws, yay big?” Gloria indicated about five feet with her hand, then mimed a pair of antlers with her hands “Or was it four legged with big horns?”
“No, not an animal, a monster.” Horne seemed even larger and more powerful in her shiny blue armor and her frustration was palpable. “A monster, capital M, emphasis on the ‘onster’, it was like a living shadow full of purple lightning,”
“We don’t... have anything like that.” Sagan said.
“No. We don’t.” Gloria said. “Tell me more, Sheriff.”
Sheriff Horne recounted her journey to the vehicle bay in detail, omitting exactly how much the chittervoles had startled her.
“Is it possible this ‘specter’ could be something you picked up on your way to the present?” Gloria asked.
“I don’t know. I’m not-” Sheriff Horne sighed. “I’m not good with the science. I know how to operate stuff-”
She slapped her armored hand against her chest plate for emphasis. “-but Linn’s the smart egg in the family.”
“And she’s wandering around with my son right now.”
“That’s not good.” Horne said. “I mean, no offense, but I don’t know you, or your species. For all I know he could eat her.”
“He is a teenager.” Gloria interjected.
Both Horne and Sagan looked at her.
“I’m kidding,” Gloria said. “I’m pretty sure we have more in common than we don’t. Which is is why instead of returning here now that power is on, everyone has wandered off and left us to worry.”
“She’s right.” Sagan said. “So do we wait here for them to come back or go looking for them.”
“Kyle and Zara are scientists at the top of their fields.” Sheriff Horne replied. “And Brach’s just as smart and curious.”
“So we-” Gloria began.
-better find them before they accidentally teleport us into the sun or unleash killer robots on the world or turn air into fire or something.” Horne said as she stomped toward the door to Section 2.

Starry Night Part 14!
Riley is a nanny who seems to have it all. She’s got an awesome job with an extremely rich family that only needs her a few hours during the week, a loving Fiancé, and wonderful family and friends, but somethings missing. Lucas is a Veterinary Technician in a very similar situation. See what happens when their two world collide on one starry night in December.

Author’s Note: I’m a sap when it comes to endings like the last part! I’m always like DON’T LEAVE ME ON A CLIFF! So I tried to finish as fast as I could! This one is pretty nuts as well, so please stick with me! I’m feeling maybe 1 or two more parts! I’m getting choked up just thinking about it! ANYWAY! Shout out to these lovely souls!: @iwantyoutochooseme, @whenrileymetlucas, @katdvsand @grizbehr! And to all of you! Seriously! I wouldn’t have kept going if it wasn’t for your love and support! I appreciate it SO MUCH! THIS IS FOR YOU TOO!
Part 14: “The Right One”
Riley 9:41pm
“Riley! Wait!” Evan calls. I slow down and collapse on the sidewalk as the tears steam down my face. He catches up to me then heaves over.
“You’re fast!” He huffs. “Are you-”
“I can’t do this.” I whisper.
“What?” He pants, still trying to steady his breath.
“This.” I point back and forth between us. “I can’t do it.”
“Hangout?”
I give him a look, making him chuckle as he sits down.
“I admit, when I called you I was hoping this.” He copies my pointing. “Could finally get started, BUT from everything I’ve seen so far, this.” He points between us again. “Just wasn’t meant to be.”
“Oh Evan.” I sniffle. “I’m so sorry!”
“No! Keep your pity. I’m good.” He smiles as he puts out his hand. “Now, let’s get you feelin’ good too.”
Lucas 9:41pm
I lean on the railing of my sister’s balcony watching Riley talk to that dude and I feel like kicking EVERYTHING!
“Lucas!” Zay calls from the glass door. I roll my eyes and ignore him. “Let me in- I mean out!”
“Move, ya maroon!” I hear Maya shout as she slides it open. Before I can object, the whole gang is on the balcony with me.
“I’m so sorry, man!” Zay cries, awkwardly side hugging me as he does. “I didn’t know she was coming! I swear!”
“It was my fault!” Maya chimes in. “I’m the one that knew about their date and insisted they come!”
“Thanks guys, but it doesn’t matter. She’s with him now, so.”
“Boy, you’re insecure for a Western Hero.” Josh sighs.
My head whips in his direction. “Excuse me.”
“She doesn’t like Evan! She likes you! No ifs ands or buts JUST YOU! AND I KNOW YOU’RE INTO HER TOO, SO STOP COMPLICATING THINGS AND JUST BE WITH HER ALREADY!”
“You think I WANT to complicate things?!”
“Yeah.” He replies. “Because your scared.” My face drops. He’s right. I’m scared shitless. “But, you can’t let that fear stop you cus when it’s right.” He glances down at Maya and pulls her in. “It’s magic.”
I smile at the two love birds and turn back to the street only to find they’ve left. I let out a heavy sigh and clutch the railing. “I really messed up, didn’t I?”
“Yes.”
“Smackle!” Farkle shrieks.
“BUT!” She quickly adds as she squeezes his hand. “That’s the beauty of finding the right one! No matter how many times you may error. They stick with you.”
“Aw, you Brainiac.” Farkle chuckles.
“You Brainiac!” She replies with a giggle.
“Me, SICK!” Zay says in a mocking tone. Everyone laughs at the goofballs and I feel my mood lifting. I straighten up and walk back towards the room.
“You goin’ after her?” Josh asks as he follows me inside.
“No.” I reply. “If what y'all say is true, she’ll come back.”
“Congratulations, Lucas!” Smackle says as she pats my shoulder.
I look to her and smile. “Thanks, Smackle.”
“Stop flirting with me, you handsome hick!”
“For the hundredth time, HE’S JUST A FACE!”
The two continue to bicker as they walk out of the room, with Josh and Maya laughing close behind them. Zay and I shake our heads as we watch them go. Suddenly, Carrie pops her head into the doorway.
“There you are!“ She says as she enters the room and grabs Zay’s arm. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
“You good, man?” He quickly asks.
“Yeah, go on.”
He raises his eyebrows then shuts the door.
“Typical.” I scoff as I plop onto my sister’s ginormous chair in front of her even larger fire place.
Riley 10:35pm
We reach the rooftop of what I assume is his building, and he guides me to the ledge corner.
“This is one of my many thinking places.” He says as he throws his hands in the air.
“Like my bay window?!”
“Yes! Except in this bay window instead of talking things out, you shout things out. Like so.”
He steadies himself then belts out a gigantic roar. It fills the air in the most spectacularly way! Echoing on and on and on until it’s nothing but a whisper.
“That was amazing!” I say as I clap my hands. He bows then switches places with me.
“You’re turn!”
“What?! No! I can’t-”
“Riley.” He says in a more serious tone. “Just try.”
A stare off ensues, but it doesn’t last long. Stupid wind!
“Oh, fine!” I reply, rapidly blinking my eyes to regain some sort of moisture in them.
“Yes!” He cheers. “Now just take a deep breath in and when you’re ready, let it fly!”
“Okay.”
I take in a deep breath, but as I do my vision becomes blurry then a buzzing sound and then… black.
When the ringing in my ears subsides, I hear a crunching sound. I blink a few times before realizing it’s me!
I’m chewing something!
I look down and see a Nutty Bar in my hand and that’s when the taste of the creamy peanut butter and smooth milk chocolate tickle my tongue as the crispy wafers melts effortlessly adding texture to the already yummy treat. A satisficing sigh hums through my body as I lean back and that’s when the second realization kicks in.
I’m in a chair?!
My head snaps to the side and there’s Evan, sitting next to me contently looking out at the beautiful New York City skyline.
I swallow and feel the rawness in my throat. “What happened?” I wheeze as I grab my throbbing head.
“You let it fly.” He replies, folding his arms as the night air nips at his cheeks.
I shrug my shoulders as the chill strikes me as well. “You must think I’m insane.” I reply through chattering teeth.
“I’m a Sherpa, you’re insane. Life goes on.”
A weak laugh escapes me. He’s always had a way of making the most embarrassing situations seem normal.
“Hey.” He says as he turns his gaze toward the sky. “You still believe in Pluto?”
I think hard for a moment then smile. “Yes. Yes, I do.”
“You know they say…” And that’s when it hits me.
“I am Riley Elinor Matthews and I believe in Pluto.” I say to myself.
“What was that?”
“I am Riley Elinor Matthews and I believe in Pluto!” I say a little louder.
“Congratulations?”
I hop out of the chair and turn back to Evan. “I am Riley Elinor Matthews and I believe in Pluto!”
He jumps up to join me. “I don’t know what’s going on right now, but I like it!”
“Here’s what’s going on!” I shout! “I’m Riley Elinor Matthews and I’m going back to that party!”
“That makes a lot more sense!” He cheers as we race towards the exit. “Let’s go!”
Lucas 11:40pm
I stare blankly at the crackling wood when I hear the door open.
“It’s occupied.” I call out for the thousandth time this evening. I swear people grow some huge balls when it comes to house parties!
“Okay.” a familiar voice squeaks.
I pop up. “Riley!”
Her head flashes back toward me and I feel my heart pick up pace.
“You’re back.” I sigh.
“I needed to explain-”
“No, you don’t.”
“Yes, I do!” She replies as she meets me in front of the roaring fire. “This morning we agreed that I needed time by myself to heal and then tonight, I show up to your sister’s apartment with some other guy holding my hand! I can only imagine how that made you feel! Especially, with everything that’s going on at home! Geez, how dumb am I!”
She talks so fast, when she’s fired up! I think as I let out a soft chuckle.
“Are you laughing at me?” She gasps.
“Yes, but-”
“Why I never! Here I am agonizing over what I just put you through and you have the nerve to-”
“Riley.”
“Don’t Riley me in that sexy southern twang of yours! If I where Maya, I’d look you dead in the eyes and say Ha-HEE-”
Right then, I grab her face and do what I should’ve done in the beginning and kiss her. I pull away and she looks stunned.
“Why did you do that?” She exhales.
SHIT! I READ THIS WRONG!
“I don’t know.” I stutter. “I just wanted you to stop. Please don’t tell my sister!”
“You couldn’t think of another way to stop me?”
“Not at the time, no. I’m sorry!”
She laughs as she stands on her tiptoes and places her arms around my neck.
“You don’t have to be sorry, Huckleberry.” She breathes. “I was just messin’ with ya!”
“THANK GOODNESS!” I laugh as I hug her tight.
She pulls me in for another kiss and as my eyes flicker from her to the glowing embers, I swear, just for a moment, I’m back in Texas, under a starry night sky, holding the girl I could possibly spend forever with. Well, look at that. Josh was right.
It’s magic.

Travel day (GyeongJu to Gangneung)
July.11.2017 Hello, hello- Today was one of those days where if you don't laugh at what's happening, you'll just be angry the entire day. Let's just say I felt like I did half and half. The morning was an early start. I knew I had to get to the bus station early, so I set my alarm for 6 and was out the door by 7. It was lucky that I actually had the room to myself last night, or else I would've felt really terrible for waking someone up that early with all my movements. On my way to the bus station, I got a bottle of water and tried to look for some bread or pastries, but couldn't find any. I got to the station and bought my ticket. I told her 7:40 bus, and she said 7:25. I accidentally got on the wrong bus, but the driver told me nicely that it's just the next one in the same lane. It was only 7:15 so I decided to try to get another snack, but failed. As I was looking around kind of lost, a driver asked me what bus I was looking for. I told him, and it was the bus that just started to back up. I waved my hands and chased after it, but it didn't stop. I figured another bus would come at 7:40, but I was wrong. That was the bus I needed to get on to make my train to make the other train to make the bus. It was full blown panic after that. My mom was talking to the ticket lady, I was trying to find another route. Long story short I knew I was going to miss the first train. I got on a different bus to uljin, then got off at pohang because there was a bus to samcheok. It was a big mess. What should have been a peaceful 4 hour bus ride turned into me running around and trying to figure everything out. Needless to say, I was too stressed to sleep and spent the entirety of all my bus rides just checking my phone and the map. It wasn't all terrible. The bus route was by the coast, which was beautiful, and the rice fields were also very pretty to look at - the rice waving in the wind was actually quite hypnotizing. After what seemed like forever, I got to samcheok. Here I had two hours to kill before my sea train arrived. I needed to eat. My mom had found this place that was kind of close. I couldn't get the bus schedule figured out so I just walked the half mile. Kind of a mistake. Today was super sunny and hot, but not humid. I got to the restaurant and immediately regretted it. I sat on the ground (not an issue) but everything on the menu was Korean. I could barely understand it and so I just ordered the cheapest thing. It came with a bunch of 반잔 - some I liked, some I didn't, some kind of sour and spicy soup that I didn't eat, and fried fish. It wasn't a great meal. I was really frustrated, tired, stressed, and now underfed. I ate my rice and some of the things, paid, and left. I had noticed a post office close by so I stopped by a convenience store, got another water and a beer, sat outside, wrote some postcards and drank a beer. I finished both tasks and moved to the post office. It wasn't a long line and I got out pretty quickly. I wanted to write a bunch of post cards so I also bought stamps. I asked the lady at the desk where the sea train picks up and she said it was two+ miles away. I tried to look for a bus but google maps wasn't helping, so I just decided to walk. Walking the two mikes there was probably the worst and most mentally breaking thing I could have done. It had already been a long day, I was doing something I wasn't really sure of, and at this point, didn't care about. I just kept pushing and walking and sweating and finally got to the train station. It was next to a factory mill which I thought was interesting, but I guess passenger and cargo trains shake one line. I waited for a bit and then boarded the train. The train ride was fine. It had some good views and was really comfortable. I had already seen so much of the ocean, so it wasn't anything really amazing, but it was neat to have the seats facing such large windows. I tried not to fall asleep the entire time. I got off at my stop, and there was another train that was literally on the beach. I probably could have gone on it but at this point I just wanted to get to my hostel. Being that anxious for that long a period of time is so frustrating and tiring. I followed some signs from the train station for the Gangneung transfer. I bought s ticket and waited. The bus came, we got on, and I again was tracking my every move with my map app. We ended up dropping off fairly close to my hostel, which was great. I started walking and navigating towards my hostel and when I got to where it was supposed to be - no sign of it. I was at my wits end. Thankfully two girls came walking and I asked them - they told me to follow them as they were also staying there. Checking in was another nightmare. Mama didn't reserve a room with a deposit so I had to get a room, and thankfully there were beds. I paid, went upstairs, put my things down and looked for a place to eat. I know this area is known for tofu and I will eat it tomorrow, but I just needed something now. I found a 냉면 place, and it was just two blocks away. I left the hostel, found the restaurant, ordered, enjoyed my dinner, walked back, stopped at a CU, got an icecream and a strawberry milk, enjoyed them, walked back to the hostel, wrote a ton of post cards for friends, showered, and then wrote this. Tomorrow is another day, and I'm going to sleep early to get ready for some great adventures. Until whenever --
