labor or labour

a/n I don't know if you can tell what this is about but I'll think you're cool if you can guess.

Riley Matthews sat on her couch watching the Red Planet Dairies, she had several marshmallows bags and donuts hoarded around her extremely bloated belly. Her belly wasn't bloated because of the insane amount of food she had eaten, well it wasn't only because she was eating it was mostly because of the baby that was growing inside of her. The baby had been growing inside of her for only 8 months and her patience was growing thin with it's stay.

It's not that she didn't want the baby and didn't love it with all her heart, It's just that at 7 1/2 Riley had a cervical changes and was put on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy. It was only modified bed rest so she could walk around and leave the house for periods of time, but it was no work and nothing too major. Riley could basically go and get groceries and then come back and that was mostly it.

In the middle of the episode the door swung open and her lovely husband waltzed through it. Lucas smiled at his frowning wife and pulled her in for a hug and a kiss.

'Hello my lovely wife.' Lucas said taking off his coat and walking over to the kitchen to get cereal.

'Don't forget that you did this to me and I'm not happy with you.' Riley sulked shoving marshmallows into her mouth.

'Riley as I always say, you liked it when I did that to you.' Lucas joked and Riley just poked her tongue out at him.

'So what did my little trophy wife think about today.' Lucas joked again and took his cereal over to the couch to sit with his wife on their couch.

'First off, nothing wrong with trophy wives but I am not one of them. Second I was thinking about words.' Riley replied and Lucas nodded his head.

'Well I mean Lucas, the united kingdom and like Australia, New Zealand and lots of other places they spell color, c o l o u r. They also spell labor, l a b o u r and like they add u to random words. Then I realised that we just dropped the u. We are the weird ones.' Riley finished her thought and looked at Lucas awaiting his response.

'I really do think pregnancy has made you more contemplative.' Lucas responded nonchalantly. Riley nodded her head and stood up from the couch.

'Uh why are you standing up. You are on modified bed rest.' Lucas fretted ushering to push her down.

'Calm down, I'm just going to the toilet. Babies push on the bladder.' Riley responded and walked to the toilet. She saw Lucas' toiletries in a bag and frowned.

Riley had walked back out of the bathroom and saw Lucas getting into the cuddle bunnies episode.

She sighed and walked over to him rubbing circles on his back.

'Are you sure you're gonna be ok here on your own tomorrow, you can always stay at your mum and dads or Maya's. Or I could cancel, Lucy would understand and would happily go in my place.' Lucas stressed and Riley continued to rub his back.

'Lucas I swear I'll be fine on my own, I'm limited to the amount of things I can do anyway and you'll be gone for 2 nights. Maya, my mum, Auggie and everyone will be dropping in and lord knows who else will be when they hear I is alone.'  Riley soothed and Lucas nodded his head.

'Hello Riley.' Maya called out prancing into Riley and Lucas' place.

'Maya I can only be in 1 of 3 places in this apartment and I wouldn't dare not telling someone I left the house. I don't have a death wish and neither does the my baby.' Riley joked and Maya followed her voice into  Riley's bedroom.

'Hello Grumpy and hello baby.' Maya peeped in a baby voice into Riley's belly.

'So ranger rick is in Pittsburg huh.' Maya asked and Riley nodded her head tears welling up in his eyes.

'I miss him.' Riley cried and Maya rolled her eyes at the overly dramatic pregnant women.

'Oh Riley it's two nights, only two nights. You'll be fine Riles. So do you want to have a movie marathon.' Maya asked and Riley instantly settled.

Riley woke up with a jolt and placed her hands on her belly. She looked over at the alarm clock and saw that it was three am and Maya had placed a note saying she left. Riley screamed at the pain her stomach was causing right now.

She grabbed her phone from the side table and called her hospital.

'uhh hi I'm Riley my doctor is Dr.Langley, I'm 8 months pregnant and I'm having stomach pains and I just know that there is a problem. Can you forward this phone call to him.' Riley asked over the phone and the receptionist.

'Well sweetie I'm pretty sure you're in labour and that those stomach pains are contractions, get someone to drive you in and we'll be all set up when you get here.' The receptionist replied and Riley shook her head.

'No No you see, I'm on bed rest and the cervix change and my husband is away and Dr. Langley said-'Riley fretted but the nurse just told her to come down there.

Riley stressed and started dialing every number she knew. She started with Maya and finally ended with her grandmother from Philadelphia but no one answered her, she tried Lucas' cellphone one more time hoping the 18th time would be a charm but to no avail, no one was answering. She scrolled through her contacts and glimpsed over a contact.

'Ok this is my only resort.' Riley spoke to herself another contraction threatening her. She listened to the phone ring two times until she heard a voice she hadn't heard for a very long time.

'Hello this is Charlie.'

'Hi Charlie, labour, now, help, Lucas away.' Riley spoke through her pain.

'Ummm ok, turn on your phone's tracking with me, I'll come get you and Riley keep calling Lucas ok, I'll be 5 minutes.' Riley groaned and hung up on him. Just as she turned on her location her phone started to ring and Lucas face showed up.

'Hey Princess what's wrong why are you so upset.' Lucas fretted through the phone.

'Lucas I'm sorry.' She cried into the phone her contraction subsiding.

'Why Riley what's wrong.' Lucas asked packing his stuff up preparing to come home.

'I'm in labour, no one would answer so Charlie's picking me up.' Riley cried and Lucas gasped grabbing his stuff and run out of the hotel.

'Wait labour, Charlie Gardner, ok the flight is 30 minutes and I'm 10 minutes away from the airport. I'll be back in the city in an hour and a half. Ok I'll be there, I love you and quick question.' Lucas asked and Riley groaned.

'Is this labor or labor with a u.' Lucas joked and Riley smiled.

'definitely with a u it makes it more dramatic.' Riley replied and laughed.

'Ok Riley are you sure you're in labor cause you're laughing.' Charlie weighed in from the doorway in his pyjamas his girlfriend and Riley's friend standing next him.

'Oh thank god, I'm in between contractions and I want to be until I can be sedated.' Riley joked and Emily, Charlie'd girlfriend helped her up.

'Gardner you better take care of her or I will kill you.' Lucas spoke through the phone.

'I got her Friar.'

'Isn't she beautiful.' Lucas said looking down at their newly born daughter.

'What's her name.' Maya asked from across the room.

Lucas and Riley looked at each other and smiled.

'Her names Olympia.' Riley smiled.

'We were gonna add a u but decided against it.' Lucas joked and Riley laughed.

'Yeah whatever Riley.'

'CHARLIE' Riley yelled from her bed. The brunette boy nodded his head and climbed through Riley's bedroom window.

'Yeah ok Charlie come in we aren't busy.' Maya spoke sarcastically moving in closer to her best friend and looking over at the confused Lucas.

'Riley what happened to your leg are you ok?' Charlie asked avoiding Maya's glare and waltzing over to Riley.

'I was in an accident Charlie.' Riley responded not meeting his pleading gaze.

'An accident, oh my god, when? Are you ok?' Charlie rambled sliding even closer to the brunette. Riley awkwardly moved further away not wanting Charlie to be too close to her.

'Like two weeks before break or something idk, you didn't even notice?' Riley asked slightly hurt that someone that once meant everything to her didn't even notice she had fallen off the face of the earth.

'Well I mean I thought you might have taken some time off cause of us and how we ended, ya know?' Charlie responded arrogantly causing Maya to scoff and for Riley to finally look up at him.

'Wait Riley you used to date this weirdo?' The recently silent and now slightly angry Lucas chimed in.

'Sadly.' Maya hummed trying to stir Charlie.

'Charlie we ended like a month before that, I was upset but you weren't that important to me.' Riley responded sarcastically. Her patience was running thin with the young boy thinking he could just waltz back into her life like he'd never left, or more importantly, hurt her.

'Ok that hurt-But that's what I came here about I want to try us-' Charlie started but the door swinging open interrupted him.

'WE'RE HOME EARLY-YOU-GET OUT.' Cory growled and Charlie quickly scurried to climb out the window.

'I'll talk to you at school.' Charlie yelled before finally closing the window and leaving.

'PLEASE DON'T, OH DAMN I MISSED HIM.' Maya yelled looking at the fuming Lucas.

'What was he doing here.' Cory asked impatiently to the three.

'He just showed and I didn't want to force him out cause he'd get mad.' Riley answered and cory nodded his head and sped out to tell Topanga.

'I can't believe he had the audacity to show up after the way things ended.' Maya spoke breaking the short silence.

'What happened with you two.' Lucas asked still furious at Charlie.

'He cheated on me and said some things that didn't need to be said.' Riley answered opening up her laptop.

'SAID SOME THINGS-OH THAT BOY SAID.' Maya started but was cut off by Riley.

'Maya I don't want to talk about it now, let's just watch some gossip girl and calm down ok. I don't want to be mad right now.' Riley said and the two teens nodded their heads reluctantly and agreed.

'We'll talk later ok.'Lucas whispered into Riley's head. Riley stopped and thought about it for a second and then turned to face him and slightly nodded her head.

'Xoxo Gossip Girl. CHUCK AND BLAIR, CHUCK AND BLAIR.' The girls yelled and Lucas shook his head laughing.

'LUCAS WAKE UP ITS MY FIRST DAY BACK.' Riley yelled and Lucas groaned looking up at the green eyed girl in her bunny pyjamas.

'Ok ok we get it, I feel like I should be saying merry first day.' Lucas responded still basically asleep.

'OOO I like that, do that. Ok you have 5 minutes to get ready and then breakfast, skip a shower you had one last night and then just put gel in your hair. See you at breakfast.' Riley beamed and then limped out of Lucas' room.

'Who needs an alarm clock when I have her.' Lucas spoke to himself and started throwing on some clothes. He decided on a black top with light wash jeans, he couldn't remember the last time ever putting so much time into his appearance, probably only in kindergarten, but in saying that everyone was going to be noticing him today. He brushed his teeth and put some gel into his hair before trotting out to the breakfast table.

'Good morning Lucas, you excited for today.' Topanga asked placing two pancakes onto his plate and pouring him some orange juice.

'Probably not as excited as Riley' Lucas joked and Topanga just laughed and nodded her head.

Riley smoothed out her purple dress and looked into the mirror, she wanted to look nice for today but not like she was trying too hard. The purple dress cut at different angles but mostly fell below her knee slightly covering it up.

She smiled at herself trying to shake the anxiety with happiness. She didn't know if it would exactly work but it was covering things up well enough. Riley slid on her favourite bracelet and combed on a coat of mascara just as Maya climbed through the window.

'You gonna be ok today honey.' Maya asked looking at her best friend.

Riley thought about telling her best friend about her anxiety, maybe talking would make it go away. She looked over at Maya ready to tell her when she saw how proud she looked. Riley made a last minute decision not to tell her, she didn't want Maya to see her as weak.

'I'm gonna be amazing peaches.' Riley finally responded and swung her arm around Maya's shoulder and waltz out to breakfast.

Riley and Maya sat down next to Lucas and smiled as Topanga slid some pancakes onto their plates.

'Hey you wanna tell me what the creep said before school, just so I can bash him.' Lucas whispered but Riley shook her head.

'Not now Lucas, I don't want to ruin my good mood, and most importantly I don't want you having drama with Charlie on the first day. I just want good vibes right now, so please just be there for me today.' Riley asked and Lucas gave her a light smile.

'For you smiley, anything.' he responded before getting up and washing his plate.

Just as the three teens were about to leave for school Cory burst into the room and cleared his throat.

'OK Riley NO talking to Charlie, if your leg or anything else starts to get sore you tell on of your friends to tell me ok, I have extra medicine. And if you wanna go home early or whenever just tell me, it's nothing to be ashamed of-' Cory started.

'Dad, stop I'll be fine.' Riley interrupted giving him a warm smile.

'Ok, I believe you. Have a great day I'll see you there.' Cory finished and all the kids waved.

'BYE.' They yelled and started walking to the school.

Night time-rucAS

a/n Ugh I know this is a boring prompt and shit but I love you guys so i am writing idk.

'Riley, this camp is going to be fine.' Maya sighed saying the same words she had said 50 times over. The anxious Riley fidgeted in her seat and looked out the rolling hills and large dams trying to calm herself. 

'Maya this is the only camp I've been on without my dad, and this is the first time I've gone away without at least one member of my family. I miss them already and we aren't even there yet.' Riley anxiously rambled and Maya fake gasped at the brunette.

'Are you saying that I am not your family?!' The blonde joked and Riley instantly starting trying to make up for her comment. 

'Oooo She got you there sugar.' Zay added towering over Riley's seat to look upon the two friends. 

'I'm not saying Maya isn't a family, I'm just saying she has a track record of making me uncomfortable in these type of situations.' Riley added matter-of-factly and some slight ooo's came from random places on the bus. 

'Ok Riley has a point there.' Farkle said joining the conversation from the row across from Maya and Riley. 

'When have I ever made you uncomfortable?' Maya asked and Riley laughed in her face.

'I was with you there Maya but you've lost me, you're never gonna win this one sweetheart.' Zay mellowed and put his earphones back in. Maya threw her hands up in agitation and awaited Riley's response. 

'That time when we were home alone for the first time ever and you said you went to the bathroom but you really went to get a ghoul mask to scare me.' Riley replied and Maya raised her finger.

'Ok yes that was mean but it was one time, and you weren't even that scared.' Maya retorted trying to save herself.

'I called the cops, they thought I was just joking and tried to fine me, and then there was that time we went to the park together and you pretended that squirrels were secretly demons that were gonna eat me unless I wore yellow.' 

'You were gonna get rabies if you tried to cuddle another one. I was helping you.' Maya snapped back. 

'Maya I wore yellow every time I went outside for 3 years!'  

'Yeah that one was only funny for a year.' Farkle added in but the two girls ignored him and continued arguing. Riley and Maya went back in forth about all the incidents that had ever happened but 3 minutes in a loud stop halted their conversation. 

'Ok that is enough, Maya, Riley doesn't need to be scared and Riley you need to distract yourself not re-scare yourself.' Lucas chimed from the seat in front. The two girls sighed defeated and called a truce. 

'So eye spy?' Riley asked and Maya and Lucas nodded eagerly.

The gang arrived at the accommodation not long after and after eating the accommodation's weird textured spaghetti they had 10 minutes to chill in the group areas before they had to head to bed and get ready. The gang had decided it was best to play a quite game of monopoly not wanting to stress out the already shaking Riley. Halfway through there game their math teacher came over and told them they had 2 minutes and then they had to be in their rooms getting changed, or in the bathroom brushing their teeth. They all nodded but Lucas looked over and saw Riley getting incredibly nervous, he knew she wouldn't want to bring it up in front of everyone so he made up some excuse about getting books and whisked Riley away. Riley knew that Lucas just wanted to see how she was and Riley welcomed the comfort, she looked back at the group packing up and saw Maya wink at her, she smiled back and followed Lucas to a small room at the back of the inn. 

'Hey what's going on?' Lucas asked caressing her thumb with his. Lucas and Riley had only been dating for about 4 months but it was a tradition that every time Lucas held Riley's hand he would caress her thumb. 

'What if I go to bed and I can't sleep, and we know Maya and Smackle will be out in 5 minutes. So then I'm lying in bed and my mind makes up scary scenarios that could happen, and then I hear footsteps but I won't want to wake up Maya or Smackle cause they'll bite me. So then I just wait there and try to see if I die or not, and then I scream and wake everyone up. Then when Maya and Smackle go back to sleep I hear something crash so then I start crying and fall into a small panic attack. Then I try to tell something but I can't move until I eventually black out and fall asleep at 4 am and we all know I need go asleep at 10 otherwise I will be really mad the next morning-' Riley rambled but Lucas had had enough of her rambling and kissed her. 

'Ok I get it I was rambling but Lucas these are real things that could happen. I don't know what to do.' Riley groaned and put her hands to her face. Lucas rubbed her back soothingly and shushed her slightly. 

'Ok I see you're nervous Riley that's a given, did you take your medicine this morning.' Lucas whispered knowing it was a sensitive topic for her. Riley shook her head and Looked down. 

'Riley this is why you're like this.' Lucas replied and Riley continued looking down. 

'I know, but it makes me dizzy.' 

'Yeah and know you can't sleep, you're gonna have consequences for your actions.' Lucas lectured and Riley just nodded her head still drooped.

'Ok so, how about we just stay up the two of us for a little bit and whenever you're feeling less nervous how about that?' Lucas offered and Riley nodded her head and snuggled into her. 

'So cuddle bunnies season finale, ammi right or ammi right ?' Lucas asked and Riley started her rambling.'

'See Lucas that's why Barney Stinson would be better as my dad and not Maya's cousin.' Riley finished her long speech. 

'Ok I see that is a fair point, I can't argue with that logic, I mean the Darth Vadar thing gold.' lucas replied and Riley simply nodded her head. 

'Wait Lucas what time is it?' Riley asked fretting to fix her hair. 

'7 O'clock, time to start the day.' An unfamiliar voice answered from near them. Riley and Lucas snapped there heads over to the voice and saw a mischievous Maya and Zay looking at them. 

'OOOOOOO this is gonna be a good Riley and Lucas story who are we gonna tell first.' Zay jokes turning to Maya who holds up her phone.

'Well Isiah Hank.' Maya started earning a glare from Zay. 

'We have that photo we took we don't we just go straight for the homeroom group chat with Mr Matthews, I think he'd love it.' Maya joked and Riley growled at her best friend. 

'Ok I was joking, I'm glad you guys finally talked all night. I mean even though your dad talked all night with Lauren so it's got bad memories, you guys made good memories at the ski lodge and know you're making good memories out of talking all night.' Maya said deviously before walking off with Zay to get breakfast. 

'SO we talked all night.' Lucas asked and Riley nodded.

'At least it was with you.' Riley replied and Lucas kissed her head. 

'At least it was you.' Lucas smiled.

First week

sorry for my extended absence, i can assure you all I've been wanting to do is some free writing but apparently in the education system rn  canoot!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYway this is set in the cannon verse and it's basically Lucas' thoughts on like his first week and day when he's met Riley cause like he's clearly been thinking about it if he knows she's better than that??

Lucas Friar wakes up in his new New York apartment. He's a little upset when he doesn't feel the northern Texas sun streaming through the window of his bedroom but rather the almost artificial polluted slightly sun ridden air flowing through the barred up window. To say that he did not like New York was an understatement. He hated the place and he had been there for less than week, he had no idea how he was going to survive New York let alone thrive like his mother had suggested. He stomped his way into the bathroom brushed his teeth and put a little wax in his hair before changing into his completely generic outfit, he wanted nothing more than to just fit in enough until he could get out of this hell hole.

After successfully changing into his outfit he made his way out into the kitchen making himself a piece of toast. He stood by the toaster waiting for it to be ready when he felt a lick on his lower leg, he looked down at his dalmatian puppy picking her up and patting the top of her head. Pebbles was the only thing good in his life at the moment, and Lucas feared that would stay this way until he could get the heck out of New York. The toast popped and he put Pebbles down so he could butter the toast. He quickly ate the toast and put a piece of gum in his mouth as he rushed out the door not wanting to be super late on his first day. He walked down the thin walkways of New York city with his head down, he hated everything about the polluted, and over-populated hell hole. When he arrived at his subway stop he held his breathe preparing for the disgusting smell that was to come. He ushered his way through the crowd and considered himself lucky that he didn't have to wait for the subway. Lucas scurried onto the train and sat down in the priority seat at the back of the carriage. At first he just looked around the subway but grew bored after about 40 seconds. Lucas pulled out a book from his bag that his mother had gifted him. He opened the first page and tried to read as fast as he could but the book just wasn't interesting him all that much. Once he'd finally finished the first page the conductor signaled that they were stopping at Bleeker street station. He quietly looked up from his book and saw two girls, around his age, enter the subway. One was blonde and what his best friend would describe as gorgeous, but the girl next to her was what caught his attention. She had long brunette hair and was chatting with her best friend, she seemed a little nervous but Lucas could feel the happiness within her from his seat a meter away. The brunette girl was only what he could describe he was pretty. She was gentle, and pure and pretty. Lucas didn't mean it offensively, if anything it was the biggest compliment anyone could receive. Her inner beauty was just as wonderful as her outer beauty, something he saw very little now a days.

He could hear the girls conversation and could't help but laugh at them, the pretty brunette seemed to be wanting to be bad but he hadn't even met her and he knew that wasn't what she was like, the blonde girl on the other hand reminded him way too much of himself. He watched them carefully but suddenly he saw the Blonde girl point at him. He looked up from his book and instantly made eye contact with the brunette, his heart shuddered and he felt a happiness he had never felt before. She gave him a big goofy grin and Lucas reciprocated with a small smile. Not wanting to freak her out he looked back to his book and started reading again. But, before Lucas could even finish the line the blonde girl made his way towards him. She sat down next to him and mumbled a few things and Lucas worked out her name was Maya. He barely heard anything else but he could tell she wasn't being serious. Lucas went to reply but Maya had finished her rant and stood up. Lucas was a little perplexed and thought the morning couldn't get any weirder but then he saw The brunette flying towards him.  He put the book to the right of him and caught the girl just as she fell into his lap.

'Hi I'm Lucas.' He introduced not wanting to be super awkward.

'I love it.' She responded. Even though it was the most awkward first thing to ever say to someone. Lucas had never been happier to hear anything in his whole life.

By the end of the week Lucas was pretty sure he had all these people worked out. There was Farkle, the boy who sat next to him, he was a genius who Lucas would've never liked back in Texas but New York was changing him and he really liked Farkle. There was Maya, a rebel, she had started a Homework rebellion and was quite witty. She called him names that Lucas actually found quite amusing like huckleberry and sundance. Then there was Mr Matthews, He pretended he didn't like Lucas but Lucas knew the man didn't hate anyone, let alone him. He was Lucas' history teacher and from what Lucas could tell he related it to their life. Right now he was rallying against the homework rebellion. Then there was his favourite and the most interesting of them all. Riley Matthews. She was the sweet and pure brunette girl he had seen on the subway, he was also the subject of most of the conversations with his mother. Watching her and her friend Maya made New York a little more bearable for him on the daily and they had welcomed him as a friend with open arms, something he didn't think anyone would do. Lucas could feel himself getting happier everyday, he didn't resent waking up in the morning and at times he didn't even resent moving. At times he loved the fact that they moved.

Something was bothering the young teen though. His favourite New York person was pretending to be something she was not. She was pretending to be rebellious like her friend Maya. Although he really liked Maya he liked Riley for who she was. He felt like he owed it to her after everything she had done for him.

That's how he ended up putting his jacket over her head and telling her she was better than what she was doing. Maya had just staged her final stage of the rebellion, which involved stupidly putting a sparkler up to the fire alarm. This of course resulted in the alarm to go off and water to sprout from the roof. The whole time Riley hadn't even stopped her friend because she wanted to be something that she was not.

Lucas vowed that as long as he was there, she would never feel like she had to change who she was.

Riley tapped her foot up and down nervously while she bit her nails. She was meeting Lucas' parents today, as his girlfriend. She had only really met Lucas' mum one time when she came to pick up Lucas and although she seemed lovely that was when her and Lucas were just friends. Now that they were more than friends she didn't know if Lucas' mum would even like her. Considering that her own mum and dad were extremely over-protective when it came to dating and friends, because they had attachment issues and they didn't want to leave their little girl, but still she didn't know how Lucas' mum would take it.

Riley felt a tap on her shoulder and flipped around straining her neck slightly. Maya looked down at her nervous friend and plopped down next to her on the couch. She slinged her arm over Riley's neck and pulled the nervous girl into her chest.

'Riley it'll be fine, I mean I've met Lucas mum and she's lovely. Plus you only have to meet his mum considering his parents are divorced and his dad's in Corpus Christi for 5 months.' Maya reassured and Riley nodded her head slightly. They sat in that same position for about 5 minutes before they heard a knock on the door. Maya stood up and kissed Maya on the cheek before standing up and walking back towards Riley's room. Riley sat for a minute and took a deep breathe before standing up and opening the door. On the other side was her handsome boyfriend with a singular rose in his hand. He gave her a wide smile and kissed her, he then handed her the rose and strolled into her apartment.

'Thankyou for doing this princess, how you feeling?' He asked while Riley took out a vase from the cupboard and placed the rose on the kitchen table. Riley shrugged her shoulders and grabbed her purse from the couch and moved towards the door. Before she could make it out a force grabbed her shoulder and gently moved her back. She looked up at Lucas' concerned eyes and sighed.

'Hey what's wrong?' Lucas asked trying to get her to look in his eyes.

'I don't know, what if she doesn't like me. I mean I am.....quirky. Sometimes I'm too much for people.' She uttered still not looking into his eyes. Lucas sighed and put his finger under her chin raising her eyes to meet his and kissed her again.

'Riley she will love you because you're important to me, plus how can someone not like you. You're sweet, kind, humble, funny and so much more. She will love you, I promise.' Lucas ranted and Riley nodded her head and snaked her hand around his waist. Lucas smiled and slung his hand over her shoulder like Maya had done minutes before. He kissed her forehead and guided her out of her apartment. He waved behind him to Cory, Maya and Topanga who he knew were hiding behind the wall that leads to the hallway.

Lucas stopped in front of a red door and opened it. Riley looked around at the front garden, It was filled with rose bushes that were pushed againest the bricks. She smiled at the pleasing apartment building and wondered why she'd never been to Lucas house during the day when she could really appreciate. Lucas coughed to get Riley's attention and Riley giggled before joining him inside. Riley bounced up the stairs behind Lucas, she was humming a song to ease her nerves and barely noticed when Lucas stopped on the second floor. Riley took a deep breathe and closed her eyes as Lucas knocked and unlocked his apartment. The smell of muffins hit her instantly and she smiled lightly before prying her eyes open. Right in front of her was Lucas' mum hugging her son and Riley smiled to herself at the cute moment. Lucas stepped back and turned toward Riley with a bright smile.

'Mum this is Riley and Riley this is my mum Lily.' Lucas introduced, Riley gave Lily a small smile and was quickly met with a warm embrace.

'Oh it's so nice to see you and finally have you here when I'm home. Come on in you two I baked muffins.' She prattled realising Riley and practically wondered into the kitchen. Riley smiled at the petite lady, she looked a lot like Lucas with her slightly blonde hair and tanned skin. She barely looked a day over 30 considering she had an amazing body and glowing skin. A loud bang crashed through the apartment and Riley was met with a medium sized dalmation puppy. Excited she ran over to the dog and started petting it and scratching behind it's ear.

'Lucas you never mentioned you had a dog.' She perked and continued to play with the dog.

'Oh we only rescued him two days ago honey, my stupid ex-husband wouldn't allow me to have a dog, what a brat.' Lily muttered and Lucas rolled his eyes stuffing a muffin into his throat.

'I wanted to surprise you. His name is Buddy.' Lucas spoke through the muffin that he was chowing down. Riley stood up and went over to the kitchen counter and grabbed a chocolate muffin. The muffin oozed into her mouth and Riley swore she fell in love.

'Wow Mrs Friar these muffins are amazing.' Riley groaned still eating the gorgeously made muffin.

'Oh Riley please call my Lily and thankyou dear, Do you like Butter chicken?' She asked stirring a pot on the oven.

'I love it.' Riley beamed and Lily smiled at the bright girl.

'Well good that's what is for dinner. You two can head to Lucas' room if you want, Door open!' Lily joked and Riley giggled dragging Lucas into his room. Lucas picked Riley up and put her on his shoulder before throwing her down on her bed.

'Hah That wasn't even a good move.' Riley teased and Lucas placed his hands on his hips.

'Oh that's not good enough? huh. What about this?' He teased again and moved his hands to her sides tickling her. Riley tried to push him away but it was too late, she couldn't stop laughing.

'Lucas, stop, stop.' She yelled breathlessly but Lucas kept going. Somewhere in the midst of tickling Riley's top had lifted up so you could see most of her stomach.

'Lucas do you want chip-' Lily stopped as she saw the scene before her.

'Oh I guess I'll come back.' She finished and Lucas got up off Riley his face beat red. Riley grabbed Lucas' pillow and pushed it over her face.

'Mum it's not what it looks like-' He started but Lily just put her hand up.

'I know Lucas. I trust you.' She beamed before walking away.

'Oh my god.' Riley cried from under the pillow, Lucas pulled the pillow off Riley's face and looked down at her.

'Riley she knows we aren't like that it's fine.' Lucas reassured and Riley shook her head.

'I know I just.'

'Riley it's fine. Look I'm going to put on Zootopia.' He ushered and turned on his tv. He jumped onto the bed and pulled Riley into his chest. Instantly Riley felt a lot more soothed and her eyes started shutting.

'Riley, Lucas dinners ready.' Lily Friar called down the hall, Riley's eyes shot open and she saw that they were almost an hour into Zootopia.

'Have a nice nap.' Lucas asked and Riley slapped his chest,

'Well why didn't you wake me.' Riley asked.

'Because you looked so cute.' Lucas joked and Riley stuck her tongue out and moved down the hall to the kitchen. She gave Buddy a quick pat before moving to help Lily set up the table.

'Oh thankyou dear, Lucas never helps he's too lazy.' She teased and Lucas facepalmed before grabbing a bowl and making everyone plates.

'So why the tickle fest.' Lily provoked once they were all seated. Riley looked down with a red face and continued to eat her food.

'Riley said My moves sucked.' Lucas sombered.

'Well it's true son.' Lily taunted and Riley laughed.

'Anyway Riley dear how is school going.' Lily asked and Riley welcomed the change of subject.

'Yeah really good, I'm not really sure what I want to do yet so I'm just enjoying right now.' Riley spoke honestly.

'And that bullying Lucas told me about that's stopped.' She continued, Lucas was shaking his head rapidly at her but she just shrugged.

'Yeah it's gotten better.' Riley whispered .

'Well Riley you're a wonderful girl, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Why fit in when you were born to stand out?' Lily chorused.

'Thankyou, Lily.' Riley smiled, Lucas' heart warmed seeing his two favourite people bond together.

Anteater Gal

WOO WOO PART 50!!! YAYAYAYAAYAYAYAAYAYAYAYAAYAYAY

I have no idea if they have anteaters in North American Zoos but they're my favourite animal and they deserve the motherfucking best. Why are they even real.

   Anyway let's begin shall we.

Lucas Friar strolled into the zoo with his niece in tow. Bethany was four years old and loved animals more than life itself. Him being a vet he was more than happy to tell her about all different species and what they did. Beth would come into work and shadow Lucas once a week watching him and playing with the animals. It was arguably Lucas' favourite part of the week and he wished he could have his own children to be with him everyday, he just couldn't find that right girl.

Bethany ran inside the zoo bouncing for joy towards the giraffes. Lucas was more than happy to oblige to her requests and plopped her hat on her head and swooped her up in his arms. The little girl giggled at this actions but stopped abruptly when she saw the small gift hut that was located across from the giraffes and near the meerkats.

'Bethy princess stand by the giraffes they're your mums favourite animal.' Lucas called and the little girl bounced over and stood as close as she could get with a massive smile taking over her whole face. Lucas couldn't help but laugh at her massive smile and was happy he was able to be the reason for her happiness. Lucas pranced over to the girl and held her hand as he walked over to the gift shop. They looked around for a couple of minutes before Bethany pointed to the stuffed animal she wanted. Lucas turned around expecting to see a jaguar or a tiger or something she was usually interested, so you could imagine his surprise when she was pointing at none other than an anteater. The little girl was giggling and examining all the features of the weird creature. Lucas had always been fascinated by the strange animal himself, there 2 foot long tongues that were incredibly sticky and flapped like no ones business. Their fluffy tails that reminded him of a raccoon and their weird looking snout thing that looked like a strange mistake on nature's behalf. Lucas was glad the girl was taking a liking to something less generic and stepping out of the 'norm'. Ever since Lucas told Beth Arthur was not a mouse but indeed an aardvark she'd been asking about more exotic animals.

Lucas picked the stuffed animal up from Beth and they made their way towards the counter. The blonde haired girl smiled at the pair and swiped the tag of the animal.

'Ya know there's actually an anteater exhibit here, my best friend is the boss over there, If you head over know she may just let you in.' The salesgirl, whom was apparently named Maya, told the bouncy little girl. The already wide smile turned wider at those words and she started tugging on Lucas' shirt.

'Uncle Lookey, can we go pweese?' beth begged looking up at Lucas. Lucas smiled back at her and nodded eagerly before paying for the toy and waving to Maya as they walked off. Lucas followed the map passed the hippos and the lions before tucked away at he back Beth spotted the Giant Anteater. Bethany raced over to the fence where they were being fed and Lucas ran after the eager girl.

'Look Lookey, they're so big and funny.' She yelled laughing at the biggest one a baby stuck to her back. The girl that was feeding the Anteater noticed his Niece and made her way over to the fence, a giant anteater in tow.

'Hello sweetheart what's your name.' The worker asked. Bethany was still amazed by the animal behind the girl but Lucas couldn't seem to move his eyes away from the gorgeous brown haired girl standing in front of him.

'Uhh this is my niece Bethany, I'm Lucas, Lucas Friar.' He introduced and The worker took his hand in hers.

'I'm Riley Matthews. I'm an anteater specialist here at the zoo.' She replied her glowing smile making Lucas' heart burst.

'An anteater specialist, that's interesting.' He half jokes but he was really interested in such a profession.

'It's actually a side thing, I'm still studying to hopefully be a history teacher. I love anteaters and all but I've always wanted to be a teacher.' Riley eased, she couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to this Lucas guy. She snapped herself out of her trance and focused on the little girl in front of her.

'Hey Bethy. Since it's so quiet around here do you want to come see Judy up close.' Riley gleamed crouching down to Bethany's level. The little girl smiled and nodded widely. Riley walked over to the locked gate in the fence and used her key to let the little girl waddle in her uncle following  close behind.

'Judy this is Bethany, Bethany this is Judy here was raised in captivity, so she is very calm around humans and loves a good pat. In the wild Anteaters have many defense skills they usually use against Jaguars and other South American animals. The mothers actually use their babies to try make them look bigger and more threatening to predators. So Judy here would use her baby girl Layla and put her on her back.' The little girl hung onto all of Beth's words that came out of Riley's mouth and Lucas was making use of it by filming it for her parents. Bethany hesitantly walked over to the Giant animal and placed her hand on it's snout. She stepped back quickly thinking it would flinch but when she didn't she started feeling the anteater again. Riley and Lucas looked at the girl with wide smiles on their faces.

'Seems like they like each other.' Riley gushed at Lucas.

'They aren't the only ones. I really like you, would you like to go out with me?' He asked quickly.

'Yeah I will.'

'Riwey, why does Judy walk like that.' Bethany asked and Lucas never broke eye contact with her.

'Well that's because her claws-' Lucas watched both girls bond and couldn't be happier.

WIP-EIGHTH

BACK IN NEW YORK STATE TWO DAYS LEFT OF BREAK.

Lucas arrived back at the Matthews home at 6pm as he had done since they got back from LA. He felt incredibly bad that his parents had practically thrown him away to the Matthews, so in an effort to repay him he got a job. His cousin or old family friend of some sort had been hiring at his pet store and since Lucas secretly wanted to be a vet, this job seemed suitable. The Matthews would only allow Lucas to give them $5 a week considering all the "help he'd been with Riley." So that gave Lucas some spare money for clothes, food and the occasional gift for Riley, Zay or any of his other new friends.

'Riley I'm home!' Lucas yelled out as he hung his coat up on the coat rack. He knew that Friday was date night for Cory and Topanga and that Auggie wouldn't pass up a chance to stay at Ava or Dewey's. So it must just be Lucas and Riley home.

'In my room.' She called back her voice cracking slightly in the middle of the sentence, Lucas knew what this meant, she hadn't gotten out of bed all day. He shuffled his way carefully back to Riley's room and knocked on the door before swinging it open and jumping onto her bed to hug her.

'Hello smiley Riley, what have you been up to today. Or let me guess, Gossip girl and the sims 3.' Lucas asked knowing full well that's exactly what she had been doing.

'It's like you ARE me.' Riley enthusiastically replied pausing the Gossip Girl episode and sitting up in her bed.

'So school for you in two days you know what that means??' Lucas asked raising his eyebrows. Riley did the same action and then said:

'Death?' Causing Lucas to laugh.

'No I meant-' He started but the opening of the door cut him off.

'MAYA.' Riley yelled hopping up and limping over to her.

'Oh if it isn't my little plant and her watering bottle. Oh how I've missed you my dear.' Maya joked giving Lucas knuckles while hugging Riley. Riley released Maya and sat back down on her bed Maya following her and plopping down right next to her.

'Ok I guess I'll sit on this chair then.' Lucas said mainly to himself before doing just that.

'Ooooo Gossip girl, what season are you up to? Don't you just love Chuck and Blair?' Maya asked and Lucas pulled his phone out knowing he wouldn't be very involved in this kind of conversation.

'Season 4 so no spoilers or you die!! Anyway how was Melbourne tell me all about it!' Riley squealed and Lucas had to prevent himself from flinching.

'OMG I can't believe I've never been there before, there are down sides of course but it's definitely the most liveable city in the world for a reason. I so want to move down there with Josh when I'm older. I mean I'm a city girl but because I grew up here in rural New York state I think New York would be too overwhelming for me to live, and way expensive.' Maya ranted and Riley sat across from her listening to her intently.

'So school in two days are you excited to get back on the horse I call hell?' Maya asked and Riley laughed. She glanced over at the pile of books laying across her desk and a little scrunching feeling peered into her chest. So many people would be at her school, and she had to annoy her friends with the hassle of helping her carry her things and relive the story to people of what happened. She knew how much trouble she already was and she had a feeling it was only going to get worse as school started.

'Yeah I'm excited, I mean I wish I could go back after my leg surgery but life's tough.' She smiled acting like nothing was wrong, because nothing was that wrong she needed to worry her friends. It was just silly nervousness.

'Well I'm sure every one will be happy to have their ray of sunshine back. I'm sure they'll be more than confused when she shows up with the guy people only knew about 2 months ago.' Lucas butted in finally finding an opening into the conversation.

'Lucas people knew who you were at our high school, you were the weird loner.' Maya responded earning a hit to the chest from Riley.

'Hey I said he was known I didn't say he was known for good things did I?' Maya replied trying to save herself. Lucas laughed at her statement. She wasn't wrong, He was the weird loner, and that's the way Lucas liked it for a long time, no friends, no expectations, no disappointment. Just him and occasionally Zay. Now he couldn't think of life any other way than to have the people he know has in it.

'Yeah Lucas I mean it can't get any worse. I mean I'm recovering from severe trauma and you're coming out of your shell and trying to be accepted. What else could POSSIBLY go wrong.' Riley joked hitting her bed. She watched as Maya's gaze slowly moved to the window and her smile dropped.

'Oh Riley I would've touched wood.' Maya spoke quietly and Riley quickly moved her head to the bay window.

'CHARLIE?'

I have no idea-Rucas

so I have no idea what to write but my absence has been slowly killing me and I need to be back. So now I'm gonna bullshit 1,000 words based off the one phrase "I have no Idea." Let's see how I do.

'MAYA.' Riley shrieked from the kitchen of her Greenwich apartment. She huffed, crossed her arms under her breast, working her resting bitch face into overdrive. Maya praddled down the stairs innocently and sat down on the bench in front of Riley smiling widely.

'Yeeeeees.' She dragged on keeping her smiley face in tact and watching Riley's reaction.

'Lucas, Who is Lucas, Why is there a random Lucas texting me saying Maya sent him. Maya may the lord be with you while I kill you.' Riley screeched and Launched herself over the table. Maya easily dodged Riley's attack and sat picking at her nails.

'Look Riley, You're going to college all the way in Texas, you don't know anyone there and you know I really just want you to be safe. I mean you have to understand why we want you to have friends there and be really happy. Look Zay, our friend, suggested him. Apparently he is Zay's best friend back in Texas and he was going to move here but his Grandpa had health issues so they had to stay. Anyway he is also going to A&M, vet science major, Major hottie and he's also really friendly. We spoke on the phone and he said he'd show you around and everything, you don't have to be friends we just want you to know something, plus it will get your dad off your back.' Maya quoted pulling up Lucas' profile on facebook. Riley had to admit he was very hot and considering most of his pictures were with horses or children she could already tell he was a nice guy.

Knowing it would get Maya off her back and her parents as well she replied to Lucas and wandered back into her bedroom continuing to pack her bags, not really sure what Texas would be like.

Riley wandered out of the baggage carousel and saw the Texas sun bleaming through the exit windows. She looked out into the Taxi bay and sighed knowing she was going to have to sit in one of those things. It wasn't until she was almost at the exit that she heard someone hearing her name being called, it wasn't even just Riley, It was Riley Matthews. She swiftly turned around and saw the face of the guy everyone had been raving about.

He smiled and waved slightly before jogging over to her, Riley couldn't help but look at the abs that were seeping through his tight white t-shirt. It wasn't until Lucas was standing right in front of her that she diverted her attention back up to his smoldering green eyes. He smiled lightly and held his hand out. Riley looked down and smiled before returning the gesture.

'Hi I'm Lucas, I thought it would be unfair to put you in a taxi in a place you don't know so I thought I'd take you to A&M myself. Plus we live next door to each apparently and we should always love thy neighbour.' He joked and Riley let out a small giggle. They started walking towards the far away long service car park, and Riley gazed at Texas.

'So you know where I live.' She questioned sarcasm seeping through her voice.

'Zay, Zay told me.' He answered mentally slapping himself for being such a creep.

'I figured, so Vet science? Why Vet science?' Riley asked and Lucas smirked slightly.

'Well I love animals and It's something I've always secretly dreamed of being.' He answered honestly, Riley could tell he was honest by the way his eyes softened.

'What about you. Psychology major was it, Minoring in American revolution studies or something along those lines.' He asked, Zay and Maya really had no idea what Riley was doing considering she was doing as many courses as she could cram into her budget. Riley laughed at his baffled expressions and out her bags in the bed of his truck.

'Double degree psychology and anthropology, minoring in American history, specified in the American Revolution. So like founding fathers, success over Europe, Hamilton, Washington, Mulligan, Jefferson. I just don't want to do the real world.' Riley says, Lucas just lightly examined her and watched her face before starting the truck and driving off.

'So that concludes our tour , any questions.' Lucas formally finished and Riley giggled putting up her hand.

'Yes the pretty lady in the back.' Lucas joked acting like there was more people there than there really was.

'Would the tour guide be interested in a deal where he gets chinese in return for helping me carrying my furniture that just arrived in that truck.' She hopefully asked and Lucas looked at the window at the moving truck. He nodded his head and Riley jumped up and down clapping before grabbing his hand and pulling him down the stairs. Lucas and Riley both felt a spark jolt throughout their body when their hands touched. They stopped and looked in each others eyes for a moment, Lucas wanted to pounce forward and kiss her, he wanted to kiss her and do a lot of other things to her. Riley stared at his lips hoping he would make a move, begging he would make a move. Her mind raced a thousand thoughts before she landed on one. He's only doing this as a favour. She slowly pulled away and looked down at the ground stepping backwards.

'uhh we should.' She started still moving backwards.

'Yeah.' Lucas finished and continued moving down the stairs.

Lucas moved couch into position and looked around at Riley's apartment excited at what they had achieved in only six hours. He smiled to himself and sat down on the couch watching Riley put forks in her kitchen draw. She placed the final one in the draw and looked over at Lucas with a big smile.

'Thankyou so much, so you need any help decorating yours.' She asked plopping down next to Lucas on the couch. He shifted his body towards her and smiled.

'Nah me and my sister came down and furnished and decorated my apartment last week. She's an interior designer so I figured she would be a good help and she was I-'Lucas cut himself off stopping to stare at Riley's adoring face. He watched her lips and leaned in slightly.

'Lucas about before I was just nervous-' Lucas silenced her by putting a finger up to her lip and leaning in further.

'Lucas what is this gonna be.' Riley questioned leaning in a little further.

'I have no idea.' He answered pressing his lips on hers and indulging in the sparks.

BIPPITY BOPPITY TIME SKIP!!!

Riley boarded the plane and smiled widely. She couldn't believe she was finally going to LA. Lucas picked Riley up and placed her in the reclining chair, she melted into the business class chair and smiled. Riley was in the middle, and Lucas was directly to her right. An Aisle across to her left was Maya and Topanga was to the right of Lucas. Riley felt slightly bad that her father had to stay back in economy but Cory didn't seem to care since he had been on business class before.

'So how you liking business class.' Lucas sighed, he couldn't believe he had managed to pull this off.

'I feel like I was always supposed to be here.' She replied before leaning back into her chair and falling asleep.

Riley was barely awake as they were ushered through Lax airport. It was one of the times she was thankful for having a wheelchair considering they could speed past everyone in security and baggage claim.

By the time they were in their 'Uber' Riley was out like a light once again. Lucas was very thankful that she had fallen asleep so he didn't have to answer all these questions about where they were going, hopefully he could carry her into the studio so she wouldn't know until right before the show.

It took forever to get the studio considering La traffic was so backed up but Maya entertained Lucas with some trivia. Once they arrived at the studio they were met by a large group of excited and happy workers. Topanga quickly shushed them and pointed to a dozing Riley, Lucas was carefully removing her out of the backseat and lightly placed her in her wheelchair thankful that she hadn't woken.

Someone from the team took a few photos of a sleepy Riley before escorting her into the makeup room. Lucas shook Riley slightly and she slowly opened her eyes. Riley looked around the room and looked at the people setting up. She furrowed her brows and looked over to Lucas.

'What's going on.' She asked confused. Lucas laughed slightly and sat down next to her.

'Well I mean you hadn't really had a nice makeover since the accident and Maya said you love getting your makeup done. Not that you need it.' He concluded and Riley smiled as the person started priming her face.

'Ok so where are we going now. Also why is this makeup studio so weird.' Riley asked as Lucas pushed her towards a side room.

'Well that's cause it's just a studio, and you're about to be on. Look hear comes your intro.' Lucas replied and opened the curtain so Riley could watch Ellen. Riley gaped at the scene in front of her and couldn't believe it.

'Our next guest is Riley Matthews from New York state. Recently Riley was in an accident that left her in pretty bad shape. In such dark times she met now one of her best friends Lucas who bought her here. Lucas describes Riley as the happiest person he has ever met, who deserves the world, and he wants to give it to her. Let's see her.'

Riley's eyes filled with tears as she heard ellen, introduce her, onto her show. She couldn't believe Lucas would do something like this for her, he was the most amazing person she'd every met, aside from Maya.

Lucas wheeled her out onto the stage and she sat next to the infamous chairs, she was beaming, sunshine practically radiating off of her. Lucas took his hand in hers, she mouthed the words thank you to him and he kissed her knuckles.

'Welcome Riley.' Ellen prattled and the audience started clapping.

'So you were just in a bus crash, and you met Lucas before or after.' She asked and Riley smiled.

'Lucas met my best friend in the hospital and he told her he really wanted to meet me, so we met and we really quickly became friends, that was about only about 2 months ago.' She spoke and Ellen interrupted her in awe.

'So this is really recent.'

'Yeah' Lucas added and everyone started clapping again.

'So you've known her a little while and you're already this close, wow and you did something like this for her, can we have a clap for Lucas.' Ellen yelled.

'He's great.' Riley proclaimed.

'Riley's an amazing optimistic person who, changes your life with her words and advice, she doesn't deserve anything like this and I knew I needed to help her out.' He lectured his hand squeezing mine slightly.

'You two are wonderful.' she uttered and pictures of the two of them in hospital flashed across the screen.

'So Lucas' words bought, essentially everyone to tears here and we think you are amazing Riley. The things you do for everyone is what is right with the world. We wanted to give back to you a little so thanks to our friends at, shutterfly we paid for all your medical expenses and a trip for two to hawaii once you're better. You and Lucas can go together.' she announced and Riley started bawling muttering thankyous.

'No problem, Riley and Lucas will be back in a minute to play a game.'

'OK so Riley and Lucas are back with Katy perry, we are gonna play a game of basketball with our audience, we have Charli and Olivia here. Charli you're gonna be on the rucas team and Olivia you'll be with Katy. Now all you gotta do is shoot the ball into the basket on our ellen team members, now you got 2 minutes to work out a team strategy.'

'Ok Riles and I will pass you the balls and then you try go for the black square on the backboard.' Lucas instructed and they both nodded.

'Ok go.'

Riley started passing the ball to Lucas who would quickly pass it to Charli, we were thrashing Katy's team 6-0. She couldn't wipe the smile off my face, this was better than the day she met Maya, almost.

'And done. The Rucas team have won 8-0.' Ellen announced Riley bounced slightly in her chair along with Lucas and Charli, Charli collected her prize and they got off stage. As much as Riley loved today she was so so tired, Riley was used to being in bed all day, and she napped about 4 times a day, but today she barely had any naps.

They had just made it to the dressing room and Riley was already basically asleep, Riley saw a flash go off and instantly my eyes shot open to a guilty Lucas.

'You just looked so cute sitting there.'  Lucas insisted grabbing all my stuff and putting it in a bag.

'You know I can get my own stuff.' Riley protested seeing Lucas get all my stuff together.

'I know you can Riles but it's only a couple of things. We are meeting the others at the diner in two hours I figured you would want to nap.' He implored.

'What did I do to deserve you.' Riley asked and Lucas helped her get into the taxi van.

'Probably something in a different life.' He answered and Riley gave him a nudge, the ride to the hotel was pretty quick but Riley was pretty much dead.

Riley knew they had stopped but she couldn't open my eyes, Lucas swooped her up in his arms and put Riley in her chair, Riley hated going through lobby's where there was people, I didn't want anyone to see her like this.

'Blanket please.'

'Riley you don't need to cover yourself you are beautiful.' He ordered and Riley sighed, Lucas was stubborn and he knew that.

They made it to our floor and Lucas rolled Riley to her and Maya's room and placed her on the bed.

'Can I lie next to you Riley.' Lucas fretted.

'Mhhmmm of course you can. You help me sleep at the hospital.' she offered and he slid in. Riley moved in closer to her and cuddled into him, she couldn't believe they had become such fast friends , my mum and dad loved him, he fits in well with my friends. We really were meant to be friends.

'Lucas'

'Thank you for today.' She sighed, almost asleep.

'I know how much you hate this situation, even if you don't want to admit it.' He pondered.

'Do you think my family and friends think I'm a burden.' Riley whispered tearing up, Lucas pulled Riley into him and stroked her hair.

'Why would you think that?' Lucas asked, he couldn't believe Riley had been thinking that way.

'Because they all have to take care of me and pay for my things, and I know my parents are so stressed and arguing, Maya is missing high school and Josh has been missing University. I've just caused them so unneeded stress.' Riley sobbed into Lucas' chest he just continued to hold me, to listen.

'Riley they want to do this for you, you didn't mean to get into a bus accident and they know that. Although they are stressed they wouldn't have it any other way.' Lucas comforted and Riley knew that he was right in a lot of ways, she just couldn't shake the feeling.

'Can we nap?' Riley asked and Lucas simply nodded his head

'Lucas, Lucas, LUCAS.'  Maya yelled, Lucas groaned slightly..

'What Maya.' He moaned.

'As cute as this is, We have dinner in 5 minutes and Riley has to take her medication.' Maya pestered shaking the pill bottle in front of Riley's face.

'All good Maya, I'll get her to take them, I'll have her down in ten can we hold off till then.' he asked and Maya nodded telling him the place was just downstairs.

Riley felt Lucas stroking her hair but she didn't want to wake up.

'Princess come on we have to get up and go downstairs.'

Riley sighed opening her eyes and sitting up, although she hated my meds I was in a lot of pain at the moment so she hesitantly took them.

'I'm just going to get changed into my shorts ok.' Lucas nodded and Riley grabbed her shorts, she tried to configure them with her leg but it just made it  hurt more, Riley winced in pain and Lucas immediately turned around.

'Here let me help you, you have underwear on Riley and I swear I won't look.' Hesitantly she nodded and got the shorts on in seconds, he was much better than Maya.

'My dad fell and hurt his leg, I used to help him so I'm pretty good at it.' He answered my thoughts and Riley smiled and slid into her wheelchair.

Lucas wheeled Riley downstairs and we were greeted by the faces of her parents and Maya.

'Hello sleeping beauty,' Topanga called.

Maya sprinted over to Riley wrapping her up in her arms and swaying her. Riley couldn't help but laugh, Maya had been pretty clingy since the accident.  Riley understands though knowing how hard the whole thing must have been on her, she shook her head angrily to try get rid of her thoughts. Lucas looked around the diner, It was cute and dimly lit, with a major diner vibe. Riley slid into the booth, Lucas and Maya on either side of her, ordering a fries she observed all the small conversations. Cory and Topanga were chatting about Auggie's school and Maya and Lucas were chatting about schoolwork. Riley was surprised how comfortable Cory was with her friendship with Lucas, they were pretty close and Cory has never been the biggest fan of boys.

'I saw you and Lucas snuggling,' Maya whispered to Riley who just smiled.

'Yeah he's a good friend.'

'Ok, yeah friend.' She cackled and Riley furrowed my brows, Maya was always cryptic and Riley hated it.

'So Maya you missing Josh.' Lucas questioned and Maya sighed.

'Yeah but you know college is more important, and space is good sometimes.' She answered shrugging, she always had her strong Armour on.

'Where did I put my phone.' Riley whispered and within a second Lucas was putting it in my hand, she whispered a thank you and he just smiled.

'So Maya what's you plan for the rest of the break.' Topanga asked.

'Well Tylah and I are going to Australia for a week. Should be fun' She uttered and Riley smiled, she was happy she had set up the trip for them considering Riley had been so many times and Maya never had.  Zay was going back to Texas, and Farkle and Smackle had an internship at a law firm in New York City and then it was just Riley. She felt a light tug and smiled.

And Lucas of course.

“Things I’ll never say…”

Mistletoe, blaring lights and her lips. Her soft, supple, lips that felt like home. Grumblings from within. Soaring thermometers.

“Luckey?”

Shoes. Roses. Riley? EXPLOSION!

“BUD!” Lucas shouted as his body sprang to life. His soul sinking as his eyes darted around the bright pink room, searching for something familiar and then it hit him. He was still in PHILADELPHIA! He flopped back onto the bed with a huge sense of relief blanketing him as his heart continued to pound against his chest.

“It was just a dream.” He muttered, feeling the warmth of the alcohol slush around in his stomach. He was still a little drunk and weird dreams always- and just like lightening striking the same place twice he groaned as he realized HE’D BLACKED OUT! His plan to prove Riley wrong had blown up in his face! He took in a deep breathe, allowing his shame a little more time to simmer. How could he have been so reckless?!

He examined his half naked body for any sign of new injuries and found none. Usually, he’d be happy about that fact, but not this time. All of his items were packed and ready to go except for a change of clothes and his toiletry bag. Riley had taken care of him which meant he’d done something really stupid. Suddenly, a vision of him throwing up all over her brand-new shoes struck his mind’s eye. He kicked off his sheets, trying his best to keep his tone and cursing to a minimum. Oh, how he wished he wasn’t so predictable, but alas. He looked to the clock and saw it was 1 in the afternoon.

“Right on time.” He mumbled then with a big heave, he sat up to face the day.

“CAN WE PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!” Riley hissed. “It’s embarrassing!”

“For you!” Auggie replied, the volume of his voice rising. “But, for us it was pure GOLD!”

Levi was about to add something to the annoying conversation when Riley caught a mop of blond hair out of the corner of her eye. “Lucas!” She shouted as she sat up. “You’re awake!”

He shuffled quickly towards the open spot next to Levi and plopped down. “I am.” He winced, fully prepared for Riley’s beratement and the boys mockery. After all he deserved it.

“You get a good sleep?” She stuttered. 

His eyes flew open. “What?”

Riley gulped hard. “Did you have a good sleep?”

“Seriously?” He scoffed as his eyes shifted from Riley to Auggie and Levi. All three of them looked really tense. Was there something he missed? He shook his head. “Look, I don’t know what kind of game ya’ll are playing, but it’s rude.”

“What do you mean?” Riley squeaked.

“Oh, come on guys!” He huffed. “I may have been drunk, but I still remember!”

“WHAT?!” The three of them gasped.

“OF COURSE! HOW COULD I NOT WITH SUCH A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE! I think it’s etched on the back of my eyes!”

The boys broke out into sporadic laughter as Riley hid her face in a throw pillow. Lucas felt his heart drop. Head done some pretty dumb things as Drunk Lucas, but never had he thrown up on anyone let alone RILEY! He knew she was going to be shook, but not this much! He fell to his knees and crawled toward her. 

“Bud, I’m so sorry! I mean what I did to you was completely disgusting and wrong! Just thinking about it gives me the creeps!”

“WHOA!” Riley replied, clearly offended by what he’d just said. “I wouldn’t take it as far as creepy! Shocking yes, but not creepy!”

“No, bud.” He sighed. “Stop trying to make this better than it was! You can say it! It was horrible!” 

Riley’s cheeks began to heat up as she watched his face twist. 

“Horrible?”

“Yeah, just like the taste in my mouth.” He smacked his lips. “Alcohol and that garlic soup they served at the reception. BAD COMBINATION!”

“I ONLY HAD ONE SIP OF IT AND THEN A LOT OF MINTS AFTER THAT THANK YOU VERY MUCH!” 

“So, garlic is still garlic and BOY IS IT STRONG! GROSS!”

Riley couldn’t believe what she was hearing! How could he be so brash about a situation as delicate as theirs?! Was their friendship not as meaningful to him as she thought it was?! She stood up and pushed past the disgusted Lucas and headed toward the stairs. 

“BUD!” He said as he grabbed her arm. “I’M SORRY AND I PROMISE I’LL BUY YOU NEW ONES!” 

“DON’T THINK THAT-” She spun around. “What did you say?”

“I said I’ll buy you new ones! Scratch that! I’ll buy you whatever shoes you want!”

She took a few steps back and leaned against the banister, looking relieved, yet sad all at the same time. “Are you alright?”

"YES!” Eric cheered from behind her. “PERFECT EVERYONE’S FINALLY AWAKE! NOW, LET’S GET PACKED UP! WE GOTTA HIT THE ROAD IN 20 MINUTES!”

Everyone just gawked at him. "Did I say something wrong?”

They all shook their heads no.

“Well then let’s go!” He ordered as he raced back up the stairs. "MOMMY! DADDY! WIFEY! THEY'RE AWAKE!"

Lucas chuckled at their kooky Uncle then looked back to Riley. “Are we good?”

“Mmmhmm.” She lied. He smiled with great relief then jogged up the stairs. She watched on and felt her heart skip a few beats. Did he always have such defined arms? Right then kissing noises entered her ears. She narrowed her eyes as the two trouble makers stood on either side of her. “WHY YOU LITTLE-” She wrapped her arms around their necks trying her hardest to put them into head locks, but they were so tall they lifted her off the ground, whisking her back up the stairway.

 When they finished loading the car and saying their goodbyes they were off. To Riley’s great dismay, she and Lucas were in the back again. The boys had fun subtly pocking fun at the both of them as they settled in.

“AW SHUT IT!” Lucas hissed, throwing one of his pillows at them. They chuckle as they turned around. He peeked over at Riley and could tell she was still upset. He took her hand causing her to flinch.

“Sorry, bud. Did I scare you?” She looked up to respond and was brought crashing down by his penetrating gaze. 

“Have your eyes always been green?”

“Um… What?”

She shook her head. “Nothing. Sorry, what were you saying?”

His long eyelashes seem to fan her as he gently squeezed her hand. “I just wanted to say I really am sorry about last night and I promise you’ll never see Drunk Lucas again.”

She stayed quiet, taking in his broad shoulders.

“Bud?”

“YES!” She replied quickly. “AMEN TO THAT BROTHER!”

He hugged her. “Thanks, bud.” 

She couldn’t believe how good he felt! He let her go then rested his head against the window. She watched as he crossed his arms and gasp at the size of his hands! When did they get so strong looking she mused? She quickly shut her eyes and faced forward. Thoughts like that were not okay! When she reopened, them she was met by a pair of blue and brown orbs intently fixed on her. “WHAT?!” She mouthed. They said nothing and turned back around with Cheshire grins plastered on their faces. Oh, how excited they were to see how this all would pan out!

For the rest of the drive home she kept her eyes closed, hoping sleep would find her the way it did everyone else, but it didn’t. When they reached their building, everyone cheered and quickly hopped out except for Lucas who was still passed out. Just like before she watched him in awe of how handsome he really was.

“RILES!” Eric called from the stoop.

“IT WAS JUST ONE TIME! IT DIDN’T MEAN ANYTHING!”

“Um. That’s good.” He replied. “Can you wake up Sleeping Beauty and lock the doors?”

“OH!” She said, humiliation piercing through the center of her being. "Right. YES!”

“Thank you!”

She reluctantly turned back to Lucas. Aa shw contemplated how to wake him, her heart began to pick up speed. She slowly reached for his face and gently brushed her fingers along his chiseled jawline. How could she have missed this or his rich olive skin or his plump, supple lips…

“BUD!” He shrieked as he jolted up.

Riley jumped backwards. “I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING!” She shouted. Without warning, he pulled her in and held her tight. "I’M SO SORRY!” He panted. “I’m so sorry!”

It was obvious he’d just had a nightmare and was hugging her for comfort, but that didn’t stop her heart from fluttering or her cheeks from blushing.

“You miss one trip and this happens.” A familiar voice said from outside.

“Hannah!” They both gasped, scurrying out to meet the blonde beauty. She giggled at their reaction and pulled Lucas in for a long-awaited kiss.

“What are you doing here?” He beamed as his dream slipped into the back of his mind.

“Riley called me. At first I thought it was so that I could surprise you, but now I see it was her just showing who you really want.” She looked to Riley and winked who let out a nervous chuckle as she slung Lucas bag over her shoulder. “Good one Hannah! Well, I better get inside! BYE!”

The couple laughed as they watch her clumsily dashed up the steps and then, just like Lucas’ dream, slipped out of his sight and into the building.

She watched on from the window as they walked hand-in-hand down the street. Before the kiss, she could have watched this with no issue whatsoever, but now- “It feels like watching someone steal your favorite cookie, but you can’t do anything about it, huh?”

She jumped as her brother’s face popped up, next to her.

“WOULD YOU STOP DOING THAT?!” She shouted as she whacked his arm.

“Doing what?” Levi asked, popping up on the other side of her.

“WHY YOU LITTLE-” She wrapped her arms around their necks trying her hardest to put them into head locks, failing just as miserably as before. They carried her up the stairs laughing and teasing her the while. She fought a smile, but inevitably gave in. As irritating as they were about the whole situation, she was glad they knew. Baring this on her own would have been too much.

Author’s Note: I’ve finally figured it out!!! I’m so sorry it took so long! I just got stuck on how to match the two ends of the story! From here on out the Chapters are going to be coming out real quick! HOPE YOU ENJOY!

She paced back and forth throughout her living room, She couldn’t wait for him to call, then she could tell him her news and he’d have something to smile about on the plane home. She still felt super nauseous, like she was going to vomit any minute. He’d been doing half of his final year in Texas, after being offered an internship that would basically guarantee him any veterinarian job he wanted, even in New york. So of course Riley let him go chase his dream, it was only six months, the fact she know hadn’t seen him for three months had set in, but she was grateful he even got that one break.

Maya barged into Riley’s small apartment, taking full advantage of the key Riley never gave her. She plopped her three grocery bags down and gave Riley the ice cream.

‘There you go Riley, the ice cream you wanted and a spoon.’ Maya announced handing her a pretty pink spoon and putting the other groceries away in Rileys apartment. Maya lived in a dorm, with no kitchen, so Riley’s house was Maya’s kitchen. It didn’t matter to Riley though, it meant she could steal Maya’s stuff.

'Ok thankyou Maya but now you have to go.’

'OOOOOOOOOOOOO Telling Lukey the big news today.’ Zay yelled from the couch.

'Zay how did you even get in here and how did you know the news.’

'Because Maya and I kiss each other and when we aren’t kissing, we talk. It’s called a relationship,’ He spoke rolling his eyes, ignoring his nonsense I picked him up and pushed him and Maya to the door.

'Ok great but you have to go. you can come back in an hour and a half.’

'Don’t be naked when we come back, once it’s in the cloud it never comes back.’ Zay yelled through the door.

'Hey Lucas, I’ve got big news to tell you.’ she smiled seeing his face through my computer.

'Hey sweet cat, I’ve got news for you too.’ He glummed and her smile lessened.

'ok You go first.’ She bounced trying to make him happy.

'My boss, he wasn’t happy with one of my essays, he says I have to stay another another 4 months or he won’t sign off on the internship and this will mean nothing.’ hearing these words she turned her camera off, not wanting him to see the tears.

'Riley where did you go. I don’t want to stay, say the word and I’ll come home, I still have my degree to fall back on.’ He rasped, holding back the tears, one essay had pushed back everything he’d worked so hard for.

'Um sorry my camera must’ve broke, Lucas you have to stay this is your dream, you’ve worked so hard for it to be for nothing. You’ll be back in time anyway, I’ll wait for you and then you can work at the best paying vet clinic in new york.’ She ranted the tears falling freely down her face. He couldn’t help but be confused, 'you’ll be back in time’.

'Anyway what’s your news.’ He asked in hopes to lighten the mood.

'oh um don’t worry,’ She gulped

'No tell me, I want to hear it.’ he begged.

'Nah it’s stupid.’ She tacked on.

'I’ve gotta go.’ He rushed ending the call. She sighed pacing her hand on her stomach, she’d pissed him off.

'Now it’s just you and me baby boy Friar.’

many hours later

'Riley I still think you should’ve told him.’ Maya uttered lying on Zay’s chest.

'Yep Maya you’ve told us several times over the past four hours, and I’ve told you the same thing. He would give up on his dreams and come home and I want him to succeed.’ She ranted eating the rest of the popcorn.

'ok fine I will shut up about it.’ She finished, stealing the popcorn off of me.

'Yes you will. Me and baby boy blue will be fine.’ she beamed, baby boy friar and baby boy blue were my bubbas nicknames, she had gone to lots of ultrasounds, she didn’t tell Lucas because I didn’t want him to be distracted, or to give up his for her, she was fine, she had a lot of morning sickness but nothing she couldn’t deal with.

'Baby boy?’ He awed from the window, all of our heads snapped towards the figure that I recognised.

'Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, Lucas texted me saying he was coming.’ Zay snarled from the couch, earning a slap from Maya, or several slaps from Maya. Riley hurried over to the window and put her hand on Lucas.

'Lucas I-’

'Baby boy.’ Lucas interrupted putting his hand on my stomach smiling.

'Yeah baby boy, Lucas this is baby blue, He’s three months old and he loves to kick and wake mummy up.’ She uttered looking up into his beautiful eyes.

'Riley, why didn’t you tell me.’ He questioned, his eyes pooling with tears.

'I didn’t want you to give up on your dream Lucas.’

'Riley this is my dream, I did the internship because I want to be able to provide for this dream, and I’m not doing this, Riley I have excellent recommendations from the other course and I’m on the list for the program. We’ll be fine.’ He ranted planting a small kiss on my temple, and giving me a big hug.

'I love you Riley.’

'I love you Lucas.’

'How did you know to come get me.’ She queered looking up at him.

'You said nah, it’s stupid. Everyone knows that’s Riley code for yes it’s super important.’ He answered simply.

'Aww Zay why don’t you treat me like that.’ And we laughed and laughed, and everything was fine
