This was their second or third time doing this? Many more if you considered their workplace hazards, but this city of spirals had such a unique energy they couldn't help but feel a little sick and woozy when they arrived. Thankfully, transportation to their new home would be provided.
Not thankfully was their sudden realization that they had forgotten someone very important. A pull of their collar to check, and there it was, those two great tears down their chest. The mark of their failure towards their friend. They had forgotten her for, oh they couldn't even begin to imagine.
While the driver could only take them to their home, they quickly got to work checking their phone's contact list to make sure Lilith was still here, if it even was the Lilith they knew. Not in her shared apartment, but in a shared home now! That must be nice, they think, guilt giving away partially to a pleasant perception of home as a place of peace. There was still enough time in the day, though, and she always struck them as a kind of night bird...
Once dropped off, they immediately turned around and found a train to Cotes, and from there, would begin treking out for the Mistwood. Ten miles wasn't much of a walk for them, so they decided to run as much as their little legs would carry them.
It was only as they stood next to a lone lampost surrounded by fog that they came to the realization that their phone refused to provide any information on where this 'Spirowl House' would be, what it looked like, and that their connection itself had been cut.
Well, they had done more with less, before. The night hadn't even really started yet.

Though the term is frequently lobbed as an aspersion, cold-bloodedness is less an accusation and more a biological factor for you. At this time of year when the weather's warming up again the sun is your ally— but even you need a break from the heat now and again.
This forest's canopy of trees provides a pleasant escape from the city noise and you've been enjoying your time in the shade, half asleep against a tree and listening to nothing but animal sounds and light breezes... but apparently that can't last.
Light though they are, footsteps are slowly growing closer and each rustle of the foliage grates on the part of you that currently craves isolation. When they stop on the other side of the nearby brush, you part the branches in one swift movement with a scowl that could scorch the earth.
"I can't have one moment alone, can I?!"
#i saw the bit about lilith foraging for ingredients and grabbed it like a squeaky toy i hope that's okay!#curseshared

The idea of a little friendly competition didn't hurt. But Shadow wasn't entirely interested in forming a team just yet (he was sure someone would force him into it sooner rather than later) so, for now, he has chosen to go solo and be set up randomly with other participants who also want to tackle things alone for now.
It doesn't take long for him to get matched up with someone for the maze activity at least. And once they're given the objective, off into the maze they were ushered.
"Let's make quick work of this cat!" Wherever that sneaky creature has hidden itself to. He has a leaderboard he wants to get on.

there was something only a little bit embarrassing about being a grown man who could only read books made for children, the ones with the colorful pictures to go along with sentences that more often than not rhymed. reading was a work in progress for the thief and he knew he wouldn't get to chapter books without starting small. however...catching someone watch him while he perused the kids section of the library made him feel weird.
especially since he had no kid with him.
"THESE ARE FOR MY KIDS--! NOT ME!"
why would she have thought otherwise?!

"Nothing in this one, either," the wizard murmurs almost defeatedly, slotting another book back into it's place on the shelf. immediately does he pluck another out, though, blowing dust from its cover and sending a silent, urgent prayer to whatever God would listen that this one would contain answers.
when Gale had heard of a "great library" he knew he had to head there at once. it was a gorgeous place thrumming with a magic he was unfamiliar with, but magic all the same. he had gotten to work looking around early in the morning, Tara off exploring other sections of the library with stern instructions to yell if she needed anything, but now it was nearing midday and he had nothing to show for his investigation.
a string of colorful words falls from his lips as the book in his hands turns out to be nothing but gibberish. it is then he also notices another person entering the shelves and his eyes flicker sheepishly from his book to them.
"Ah," he taps the book and shrugs his shoulders, a half smile on his lips. "Forgive me my little outburst. You know how it is with books...tricky little things."

@curseshared has entered the Teika Estate
The mists of the Mistwood pervade and bleed into an unfamiliar stretch of forest. Stone statues of guardians lay broken and defaced in a literal sense, as if the features on their heads have been carved and scratched out in a fit of rage. The smiles on their faces are split like a broken lip, algae leaking from cracks in lieu of blood. Not even the skittering of insects can be heard through the place, let alone larger creatures.
The grave markers begin sparse--one here, one there. But the further one goes, the amount of people buried on this ground become sickening in number. The gravel walkway is slowly being overtaken by the forest mosses.
One of those portals that have cropped up in the city is vaguely visible through the treeline, further into the trees. The eyes of the wood almost look like they're wide open, staring you down. Fog curls into twisting faces, briefly visible and then gone. You can feel the courage draining from your body at merely the sight of the ordeal.
But a path is a path. And this one leads into the oppressive woods. ... This is your last chance to turn away and not chance an encounter with what lies beyond the stalks of the trees.

it is easy to assume zevran is not the most well read man in the world, but he does have something that could approximately be called an education. and he does like to read, actually, when he has the spare time. there wasn't a lot of that, back home, but here in this city he has loads.
so isn't it just his luck he managed to find a library in this ornate castle? he hadn't even been looking for it. just exploring the grounds, maybe occasionally taking little sparkly things off his fellow party-goers. but now he's combing through rows of tomes, trying to find something that looks the least bit interesting to take home for himself.
he hasn't found anything yet and he's so engrossed in this task he might not have even noticed another person entering, were it not for the creaking of a door. he glances behind him.
"Their collection is garbage, I'm afraid."

Somehow having access to spells again has been an even weirder part of the whole Fantasia transformation than being turned into a dragon lady. Eda had gotten comfortable with a body with claws and wings a while ago, whereas she had been used to only using glyphs and potions in the magic game for even longer than that. On top of that, she didn’t need to draw spell circles to use these spells, though she still did so out of habit. It was a good way to get the energy flowing.
Yet for as strange and slightly “off” as it felt, the exhilaration that came with being able to do magic again carried Eda all the way through the span of the city’s unusual transformation. Of course she was excited to be able to do magic again! Though it wasn’t quite as versatile as her own had been, it’d made things against her Mist Reaper a lot easier to handle. Even more ample opportunity to stretch her wings came with the invasion of the “Dark Lord” and the boost that came to that magic with Oficuo’s blessing. The monsters that swarmed were of little concern. For the first time in a long time, the greatest witch on the Boiling Isles would get to strut her stuff.
And this time she wasn’t fighting alone.
“I say we keep score.” Eda twirled the Owl Staff at her side, talons planted firm in the ground as she watched the beasts advance, the wicked visage of the Dark Lord staring back at them a hundred fold. She glanced over to her sister with a challenging grin. “Whoever takes out the least of these uglies has to buy the other dinner. What do you say, Lily?”

🏠 home themed headcanon
Vash's home in Spirale is full of plants! Vining plants that drape over doorways and curtain rods, succulents on window sills, various species in of large-leafed plants, smaller ones on shelves, hanging plants out on the porch, etc. This doesn't even count the garden outside. The house is also pretty warm toned with regard to walls and flooring. When thinking about it, he really wanted a place that felt super peaceful, especially considering where he came from.
Back on No Man's Land, he's wandering too much to have a proper home. The closest thing he gets to one is aboard with the colony who live on one of the crash-landed spaceships from the fleet that's hidden away. Even then, he never stays there for very long.
🌘 night themed headcanon
Vash can have bouts of pretty terrible insomnia. When he still had all of his strength and abilities ( this isn't about Spirale but his deterioration over the course of the series ), he would sometimes stay up for days at a time before essentially collapsing. This sort of thing happened for several different reasons; whether it be out of necessity because of his life, because he was simply unable to sleep, because of anxiety, or as a form of self harm. Nowadays, because of his strength not being what it once was, he sleeps a lot more. He can still have bouts of insomnia, but they're not as common.

Send me a 📁 for a small random headcanon about my muse
He has some trouble vocalizing as a monkey since he spends most of his time talking as a human. He can still do it of course but his first try or two always sound a little off.
It's something he tries not to think too much about.
#curseshared#did you know that most monkeys have all the vocal muscles necessary for human speech but can't use them#due to underdeveloped neural control over their vocal tract#because talking as a human is very hard and requires your brain to do a lot of things at the same time#a simulation has been made of how a macaque's voice would sound if they could do it that sounds very uncanny but also clear#anyway this post is about being bilingual#@(^headcanons^)@

On the other side of the door, Luz found a familiar setting. One that sent an unpleasant, clammy chill down her spine. It had been so long since she’d seen the inside of Belos’ palace, but the light, the walls, the windows…. It hadn’t become any less haunting in the time since she’d last been there.
She forced her feet forward, looking for whoever was holding her key in this terrible place. She couldn’t imagine why they’d be here, of all places. She tried to fight the feeling of becoming smaller and smaller as she walked, by holding her spine straight and clenching her fists at her sides, but that could only do so much.
Finally, finally, she spotted a familiar silhouette, and it was all she could do not to burst into a sprint forward–she still wasn’t sure what else might be waiting for her in this place, even though she hadn’t seen a single other soul in the palace.
“Aunt Lilith, I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am to see you right now,” Luz gushed in a hushed tone, once she got closer. “What are you doing here? This is one of the last places I thought I’d ever see you anywhere near again–”
And then something clicked for Luz, as she looked at Lilith. Really looked at her. Her hair was long and raven-black, her floor-length dress neat and the color of ink.
Her eyes… both sea green, rather than the mismatched pair she’d come to expect.
“... Lilith? What happened? You look… different.”

everyone knew what a witch looked like. at this time of year, a costume like that was an absolute classic, for making scares and also somehow for those who thought of halloween to dress up less scarily but more with other aspects in focus -- something that elmer had never really understood. the point was, he knew a witch costume when he saw one, despite witch costumes not really looking much like the witches he'd known back in the days.
"cool, a witch!" he complimented pointing with a finger gun. "i used to be the child of a witch!" so the church had said even though his mother technically hadn't been one, but when the inquisition arrived their word became law, mostly. "now i'm bacon. not sure if this is an upgrade or a downgrade." a hearty laughter followed in the wake of his silly commentary.

bookstores were a great place to meet people; the bonding over the same love of literature, the excitement of discovering something new on a recommendation. so it could be assumed that, when one enters a bookstore, there's ample readiness to be social.
except for a certain redhaired wizard, who has no interest in meeting people, or socializing, or speaking to anybody he deigned beneath him, a bookstore wasn't anything except... well, a haven for books.
so when his hand touches another- another hand reaching for the same book as him on the shelf- he can't help but be a bit surprised, looking over to see just who would want the same tome as him.

"Alright, one more time..! You've got this, Lloyd!"
In the middle of a seemingly quiet clearing in the woods, a rather tall elf stood; standing with his feet shoulder width apart as his right hand hovered in front of his chest. It looked like he was focusing on something with all of his might-- brown hues boring into the space between his fingers before he closed his eyes, releasing a long, drawn out breath.
What he was attempting to do wouldn't be obvious at first-- not until he shot his palm out forward, shouting a very quick incantation that sounded like some sort of spell.
"Fireball!"
And for a moment, flames would appear in his hand, forming into a sphere.. which immediately fired backwards into his face, exploding on impact.
"WAH--!"
With that, Lloyd took a rather harsh tumble backwards-- landing on his back with a grunt as he laid there for a moment, silently staring up at the sky. Eventually, his hand raised; scrubbing the soot out of his eyes and off of his face as he grumbled, obviously very frustrated.
"Man, not again..! Why the heck is this so hard?!" At least no one was around to see that.. .. right?

An unmarked gift box was left for her to find. Inside are a few homemade chocolates (don't worry, they're not poisoned).
"What in the...?" She checks the box, looking real close at the treats inside. "Is this a prank? As if a single person here would make me chocolates for this infernal holiday!" As if a single person anywhere would, really. "...You should just toss them all, Kikimora. You know how this works." But she had to know just what was up, regrets be damned. She popped one into her mouth, chewing away. "They're probably hexed or poisoned or...or..."
"Is that...waspberry filling?" They'd had chocolates like these at some of the coven scouts' day-off parties she'd monitored. She'd nearly gotten sick from eating a whole tray before! Surely it was just a coincidence, though. Whoever made these just...had good taste, that's all.
#curseshared#HEY THIS IS ACTUALLY REALLY CUTE THOUGH#I continue to wish this little shit turned out less maniacal in canon#Also I PROMISE they're 'wasp berries' not raspberries spoken by Elmer Fudd
