General update post:
Nothing is really changing right now but if posts have been slow due to stuff going on irl. I'm finding myself able to get to less and less tagged posts at the moment. A large chunk are posts I've already seen, and even without that I'm getting them in far faster than I can get posts out.
Likewise, it's getting harder to keep submissions open for longer periods of time as it gets more and more asks quicker than before. I am also very tired with outside stuff ongoing and have been missing scheduled posts fairly regularly.
I'll still try to get to as many as I can but it can take time and I can't get to everything. I'm hoping to sort out the intro post with an FAQ and a few other bits of useful information but it might be a bit before I can get anything sorted there.
It's been suggested before that I get other people on to help, and I haven't really wanted to do that. I stand by that decision but the blog has continued to grow pretty consistent for the last eight months or so, with no real sign of it seeming to slow down. I recall when I started I was somehow getting 20 posts out a day but right now queue is set for 12 and I suspect I'm only getting about 10 out. No idea how I did it then but there's only so many cats I can evaluate before my brain turns to slush.
As a note, please don't tag me into or send in more than about two posts at a time. There's just too many coming in and I'll probably just chose the best if you do (I notice and then forget later anyways).

*laughs in over 200 open tabs*
lapillus reblogged your photo and added:
Only 25? Chrome would be ecstatic if it were only 25 I was asking to open. I'm currently being exceptionally restrained at only a little over 10 times that.

Sam be happy it’s only 25. I think I’m in the 60s
forlorn-kumquat replied to your photo “Where is the “turn off judgeyness” button in Chrome’s settings? ...”
Sam, I currently have 1497 tabs saved in my OneTab extension (and will likely add at least another half dozen by the end of the night). Plus another 70 open on my phone. And another 70+ on an old phone that I keep by my bed for light browsing.
Look I realize I was just telling Chrome not to judge me and I want you to understand I say this with love in my heart, but how do you guys live. This is like the time I saw my mother’s gmail account had 25,000 messages in the inbox.
Actually I am aware I am an outlier. During the week I have about 20 tabs pinned across three browsers, and those are the stuff I use daily -- my calendar file, gmail, tumblr, work email and some work databases, some covid tracking sites, and my SMS webfeed. I also have maybe a handful of open tabs in each that are waiting for me to read or pay attention to them somehow.
But at the end of every week, I empty out any open tabs. If I can’t bring myself to read something, it’s not going to get  better if I wait, so either I read it or I close it (this is how I purged my library of every book I hadn’t read -- I made one giant pile and if I didn’t want to read the book on top, I sold it until I reached a book I did want to read). I watch a video or I save it to my “watch later” list on youtube for some night I’m down a youtube hole. For my home computer, I do the same thing every Sunday night before I run my weekly backup.
kholden83 replied to your photo “Where is the “turn off judgeyness” button in Chrome’s settings? ...”
what on earth are you opening in 25 tabs all at once?
I have two files on my bookmark bar called “Daily” and “Monday” -- they’re groups of bookmarks that I open every morning and review and then close, or for the Monday file, that I open once weekly. Daily is a mixture of news sites, “stuff I want to buy but it’s sold out but if I check daily I’ll get another chance”, and one-off sites like mlb.com, an astrologer I check, my Robinhood portfolio, and one or two games I like to play as a buffer between finishing reading and starting work.
Monday has stuff like webcomics, tumblr tags I like to view weekly, one or two instagrams I like, some Jewish learning sites that update more or less weekly, low-volume blogs that don’t need to be looked at daily, etc. It’s got about 30 sites; usually more in the summer when I add in events calendars and stuff, but the summer file for obvious reasons hasn’t been unpacked this year.

Patch Notes, mid-year update
Welcome to the mid-year set update, tacticians! In this monthly update we’re going to be talking about what we’ve accomplished in the past six months of BraneTFT. Essentially, we’ll be reviewing the buffs, nerfs, and adjustments since the UWU Galaxy has hit the live servers, as well as what we expect to see moving forward. Perhaps the most interesting change outside of being locked in due to bad managing of healthcare, is the gravitas of how much lives have been changed.
HIGHLIGHTS
“Uwus all around, tacticians! Major highlights of the half year have included a multitude of arenas including That Knee Realm (Disneyland), the Great River (Mississippi), and The Insurmountable Mountains (both families wao).”
We’ve traveled from albino crocodiles to abandoned bathhouses, one full sports bar to another full sports bar, and a bedroom to a kitchen.
We’ve survived contagious cohabiters (housemates), constant network disconnects, and a number of emotional breakdowns to make it to this point.
We’ve defeated problem after problem, whether it be an interpersonal dispute or a climbing wall.
We’ve encountered colonies all across the universe from Pint Nite and CodeDay to small anomalies Angelus (Angela) and Edmund (Edwin).
Lastly, we also got some new splash arts for Brarius and Jayle! Check them out under the “Champions” tab!
NEW ODYSSEY ARENAS
Kyoto Gates (Japan), Hanbok Heaven (Korea), Dragon’s Back (Hong Kong), Wang Lee Hom Jia (Taiwan), Orchard Gardens (Singapore), Crystal Waters (the Maldives), Dole Plantation (Hawaii), and other destinations have all been added as potential arenas up for purchase when the coronavirus server is no longer down. There doesn’t seem to be a visible end, but developers are working hard to get the server up and running. Until then, all we can do is plan!
SYSTEMS
We’re projected for a huge shift in BraneTFT in the coming months and to be honest, the developers really don’t know where they’re going. With this uncertainty we’re counting on you, our dedicated player base, to help us transition in potentially an entire new unit set! We’ll sticking with the UWU Galaxy as our main baseline, it’ll just evolve as we evolve our game. If the last 6 months has been worth anything, it’s been all about building a relationship that can withstand the transition!
TRAITS
“All traits apply to uwus and owos ONLY.”
Buffs
Believing in one’s self — buffed from 10/30/50% to 30/60/90%
Spontaneity with one another — buffed from 10/20/50% to 40/80/69420%
Patience — buffed from 30/45/60 tenacity to 40/60/80 tenacity
Feeling like the lucky one — buffed from 100 to 3000 luck; may have to revisit in future patches
Nerfs
Comparing ourselves to others — nerfed from 100/90/80% to 50/35/20%
Feeling reserved or emotionally gated — nerfed from 70/50/40 units to 20 units at all levels
Lack of satisfaction day-to-day — nerfed from 80/50/20% to 60/30/15%
Adjustments
Priorities — adjusted from 30/45/60 focus to 20/50/90 focus
CHAMPIONS
Tier 6 champions
We got some new splash arts for your favorite uwu and owo, Brarius and Jayle! Check them out below! Hopefully we’ll be able to expand the number of units but we’re stuck with these two for now.
ITEMS
The gifting center has been upgraded! Unfortunately due to backlogging from the current situation in the world, it has to wait. However, once everything opens up again it’ll be a great new experience for all gifts processed.
In the meantime, placeholders will be set such that gift recipients may view and accept or decline their gift prior to receipt.
BUGFIXES
Jayle’s cries are now addressed with tighter hugs rather than asking over and over again what is wrong to no avail.
Brarius now remembers to tag all photos in social media platforms.
Brarius continues to need personal time and may not want to share everything, but he is guaranteed to open up per his own judgment over time.
Jayle and Brarius in the kitchen is mobile-free, barring family correspondence and other previously cleared allowances.
MOBILE CORNER
“Not actually mobile corner, but a place for me to write from me and not through the lens of a TFT patch note.”
I was actually going to use the Animojis that I sent myself to make a ‘50s style “that’s all folks” cover for this, but then I started writing out the structure of this card and decided that a “patch notes” style thing would be much more interesting.
I hope you enjoyed this weird way of putting my card. Instead of writing something similar to that of last month’s card, I personally had a lot of fun not only making this unique card but also reminiscing on what’s gone down with us for the last 6 months.
Excited for the future with you! If the last six months has been any indication, then we’re going to have a great time no matter what as long as we have each other.
Affectionately/with love,
Brandon

Rules: answer 30 28 questions then tag 20 people you'd like to know better
tagged by the brilliant @sure-as-eggs (thanks btw, I was giddy to see my name after I finished reading your thing, surprised me and prbly made my morning)
<p>1. Nicknames: honestly I don’t have any friends to give me nicknames. However, my childhood nickname was Roo (like from Winnie the Pooh, because I was bouncy we loved tigger). My actual name is Marley though! (I think) /yes like the dog<br>
2. Gender: female? <br>
3. Star sign: Taurus ♉<br>
4. Height: 5'0"<br>
5. 6:44 PM <br>
6. Birthday: April, 30th (allegedly) /fun fact, this is also the day Hitler died<br>
7. Favorite bands: I usually have favorite songs rather than favorite bands,,,, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Arctic Monkeys, Flat Sound, Queenand probably many others <br>
8. Favorite Solo Artists: I listen to a lot of P!nk (recently), Frank Sinatra, Ed Sheeran, Bon Jovi, uhhh,,, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift (recently) Marina and the Diamonds,,,idk,, yeah OH RICHARD WALTERS DEF<br>
9. Song stuck in my head: I’m listening to music rn so this is sorta hard, but I hard Secrets by Pink stuck in my head earlier. Now I’m all about Toms Diner tho.<br>
10: Last movie I watched: fuck uhh,,,, I think Princess in the Frog but I watch a lot of tv so that might not be accurate. (random movie related, I’m playing to do a batman / marvel movie marathon in a couple days when I’m on break, I’m super excited). <br>
11: Last show I watched: lmao no idea I jump around too much. Probably Gotham, Girl Boss, or something else honestly who knows (hey recommend me some shows to watch I need something). <br>
12. When did I create my blog: who,,, who knows man, , not me. Probably sophomore year. But I had another tumblr before this <br>
13. What do I post: on this blog? Although it’s my main blog, it’s my junk blog. All my other blogs are themed and have certain things that are reblogged to them (I have a compulsive need to be so organized, everything needs to have a place), this blog is for the leftover things the don’t fit in my blogs; mainly memes, animals, and neat stuff. But whatever really. <br>
14. The last thing I googled: good question, one sec; lyrics to Tom’s Diner (an aforementioned song, I heard Robin Lord Taylor singing it and I wanted to know what song it was so I looked up the lyrics he is singing). However have 38+ other tabs open bcs I am an animal. </p><p>
15. Any other blogs: lol, yeppp. A lot. Too many really. I don’t necessarily use them all either. My Gotham one is my most actively, constantly using that one. Then this on I’d second most used, then the positivity one, then so forth. I honestly basically have a blog for most everything. (my personal-personal blog is beforethelion, I haven’t updated for a terribly long while but I plan to start using it again verrrry soon for photography, poems, videos, art, like basically whatever Im doing that day;; so like self promo I guess lmao)</p><p>
16. Do I get asks: nope, neverr. however I leave them to others all the time. I genuinely enjoy complimenting people and spreading a good vibe. </p><p>
17. Why I chose my URL: for this blog, I just liked these two words so I put them together, then voila. But for my beforethelion one I actually have a significant reason, but if I were to talk about it I would ramble and make this thing 10x longer than it needs to be (like it already is) so I won’t explain. But if anyone does wanna know my ask box is open 😉as for my others, about half have reasons and half are aesthetic </p><p>
18. Following: 1880
19. Followers: 241 for this one, 33 for my Gotham one (I weep because I want to be more part of and involved with the fandom but;; I don't know how to like do that''' I can't engage, ,,, then beforethelion has 54 (simultaneously surprised and disappointed)</p>
20. Average hours of sleep: depends if I'm having "issues". Lately I have been so not very much, but majority of the time I have my full 8 hours
21. Lucky number ugh
22. Instruments: trying to grasp the piano, played saxophone in middle school, own 3 guitars but just don't
23. What am i wearing: black pajama bottoms and a marble tee ;))
24. Dream job: fuck.. Actor tbh but like yeah. Currently attending a career center because I wanted to be an animator/film developer buttt the entertainment industry is a mess. Love love to be a surgeon not school is expensivvvee and what if I suck. So I've lowered my goals to history professor (college grade is the dream but I might end up settling for high school).
25. Dream trip: god,,, I never travel oh,, honestly actually probably New York. I'd love to leave America and indulge km another culture and land of course but god, new york. I gotta go.
26. Favorite food: im hungry right now so, everything.
27. Nationality: American
28. Favorite song right now: no, no, no-nonon, we are not doing this, no. I,, have a lot of music. Whenever I see a song title/lyrics/artirst/whatever or hear something that's interesting I just gotta screen shot it/ write it down. I do this a lot (I screenshot other people's answer to this if that says anything). So I have a good amount of music I need to listen to. So t the end of the day I try to listen to a good chunk of it. Whenever I like one of the new songs, I save it. On average I approximately add 10ish songs every day. It's a lot of music,,,,, I refuse
Okayokayokay,, finally, here we are: the end. I was soso happy to be nominated for one of these things. I never pay attention to my existence/acknowledge myself/ever talk about myself/ever talk to anyone/ever talk/ever have done one of these before :) So really it was a lot of fun. I'd like to nominate people but, all my mutuals are on my Gotham blog and god, can you imagine that : engaging.

Studyblr asks
I was tagged by @vceandtea, thanks zoe! 1. How long have you had your studyblr? About a year and a half, I think 2. Why did you decide to make your studyblr? Studying had become a chore, I was in real need of inspiration, motivation and a positive influence 3. Do you have any other blogs besides your studyblr? Yup, my main personal blog, @les-hamiltables . If you're looking for a mixture of art, activism, fandom and memes, you've found the blog for you 4. How did you venture into the studyblr community? I don't really remember, I just saw some posts and decided to get in on the action 5. Did you have good study habits before making this blog? Yeah, they havent really changed all that much to be honest 6. Have you made any friends through your studyblr? One or two, I think 7. What do you think about the studyblr community? I think it's great, really supportive and positive. The 'aesthetic' can be annoying but I also kind of don't really care. I'm in it for the tips and solidarity, not for the pens 8. Do you do your homework as soon as you get home or late at night? Both. Just, always studying (I have no life) 9. What is your favorite stationery? I love things for desk organisation! Like magazine files and stuff, even though there's not enough room on my desk for them :( but also notebooks and pens and STICKY NOTES 10. What is your favorite piece of stationery you own? Hmm I really like my Staedler (?) fineliners, as well as my sticky note collection 11. What kinds of pens do you prefer? Anything that lets me write quickly and without smudging, preferably black and quite fine-tipped 12. Favorite book you’ve read for school? The Great Gatsby or Macbeth 13. Favorite studying apps? Um I don't know... Forest is pretty cute I guess? I do recommend the chrome extension Tab for a Cause - for every new tab you open, you earn a heart which translates into money you can donate to a charity. It's not exactly study related but it's a really great extension 14. What advice about studying changed your life? Work as hard as you can, but not at the expense of your physical, mental or emotional wellbeing 15. What quote has impacted you the most? "Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?" - Hamlet 16. What do you do when you’re feeling unmotivated? I take a break and make a cup of tea le go for a walk. If I'm really not getting any work done afterwards, I stop, because there's no use trying to work when you're just wasting time. But that doesn't happen too often! 17 Have you ever felt not good enough? Yeah... but I'm working on some positivity! 18. What is your organization system for school? Well usually I have a binder for each subject divided into topics, with the topic outline, notes, exercises, summary and assessment inside. But this year I'm trying something a little different, using just loose leaf paper for notes and work, and only one binder across the five subjects that I'll empty after each topic 19. How has having this blog changed you? I feel accountable to someone now, like if I'm not studying I'm letting down not just myself, but also people here 20. Do any of your friends from school know you have a studyblr? One or two, I think 21. What is your dream job? I have no clue... I'd love to work at the UN as a humanitarian worker, or perhaps with a non profit like Médecins san frontières. Or even a lawyer for people who wouldn't normally be able to access legal support, or perhaps an LGBT+ inclusive sex educator. Lots of things hahaha 22. How do you bounce back from a bad grade? I grouch and sulk a bit. But then move on, because in the end it was one test or exam and i know that doesn't define my whole academic life 23. Biggest academic achievement? I've gotten a couple of my school's academic awards, and also a raw 40 for methods this year which I was absolutely thrilled about 24. Do you keep a bullet journal? I Yup, sure do! 25. What was the last entry in it? I think it was a list of what to pack for the holiday I'm currently on 26. What is your favorite subject? Legal studies! 27. What is your least favorite subject? I don't know, I can usually study anything if I put my mind to it. I hated music though omg, I was so terrible and had so much stage-fright 28. Are you athletic? My sporting talents start and end with yoga, so no, not at all 29. What colleges are you looking at? Any that offer a Bachelor of I Don't Want to Make Life Decisions at 17 30. Are you interested in the arts? Which ones? I freaking love musical theatre but I am an untalented bean so am destined to be audience only. Also I can't afford theatre tickets why the hell are they so expensive 31. What majors are you thinking about? Crying 32. What extracurricular activities do you take part in? Debating, various sports (volleyball, softball), future problem solving, choir, Amnesty, our GSA 33. Do you need coffee to study? Nope, but I do need tea! 34. Do you pull all-nighters often? Nah I like sleeping too much 35. Do you drink energy drinks? Nah 36. Who has been a role model for you in your academic life? One of my friends, and also my English and history teacher in year 10 37. Do you have a favorite professor? I definitely used to, but I'm not sure anymore 38. Do you prefer to study with or without music? It depends... if I'm doing homework, I like music, but if I'm revising then I don't 39. Do you prefer to study alone or with friends?Deepnds who, but usually alone 40. 30+ Internal Resources Every Serious Local SEO-er Should Have or Develop
No, this isn’t one of those dreadful “274 Local SEO Tools” posts.  Most of those lists suffer from bloat, or come from a seller with an ulterior motive, or are stuffed with affiliate links.  Also, because of the constant changes in Google and in the rest of the local-search ecosystem, most “tools” roundups  have the shelf life of sushi.
You should be able to do effective local SEO (for your business or for clients) without a single third-party piece of software or other tool.
I am not saying you should go tool-free.  Some tools sure make life easier.  I’m saying that you should have the ability to go old-school, and that simply using a tool doesn’t mean you’ll do good work.
It’s also nice not to nurse on a tool that can break or become useless or be taken from you.
Long way of saying I’m all about internal resources.  They help me understand my own processes and stay on-track, they make work easier for my helpers and me, and they clarify problems and action items for my clients.  Many of them double as deliverables I give clients.
You probably have a couple of home-brewed resources already.  But you’re probably missing at least a few that can reduce work, thinking, or repetition on your part, and that can make your life easier.
Below are the 30+ internal resources I’ve found useful to cultivate and use for local SEO.  I’ve provided links or examples where possible.  You’re free to adapt or improve on any of them.
General
1. Preliminary questionnaire. For getting the basic facts before you start on a project.
2. Questionnaire for consultations/troubleshooting. Helps you remember the most-important questions to ask.  It’s especially useful if your client can fill it out before you get on the phone, so you can troubleshoot beforehand.
3. “Swipe file”: real-life examples that reflect every suggestion you make. It’s nice if you’ve also got real-life examples of what you don’t   I try to do that in my posts (where appropriate), but I also wheel out other examples for clients.
4. “Lab chimp” client: one who’s open to the occasional experiment, as long as it’s not spammy or otherwise unethical.
5. Old local SEO audits you did. They’ll serve as starting points or templates for future audits you do – for those clients or for others.  Eventually they’ll become like yearbook photos.  You’ll be surprised at how your audits grow over time.
6. “Rules of writing” document for anybody who writes for you. If you’re not even willing to write down your SOPs or preferences, it’s a little harder to expect your hired stunt-pens to meet the challenge.  (Feel free to email me if you’re interested in seeing mine.)
7. Spreadsheet for checking rankings manually. Yep, without tools.  If you’re like me, it’s not something you’ll use often, but it’s good to have around.
8. Written guide to your basic approach to local SEO. Doesn’t need to be for anyone else’s eyes, but you should have the basic workflow written down somewhere.  You can get mine.
9. “Brain trust” to answer clients’ questions: either a list of posts you did on clients’ questions, or resources other people created that address those concerns. (The origin of half my posts is that I got sick of re-explaining the same point over and over, and just wanted to write my best answer once and for all, so all I’d have to do is send a link.)
Local listings
10. “Intake form” for citations: a spreadsheet your clients can fill in to give you (and any helpers) the info you need to work on their local listings. Here’s Whitespark’s form.
11. Citation worksheet: a spreadsheet you/your helpers can use to work on local listings. Here’s what I use as a starting point for US businesses.  You should have one for each country where you have clients or locations.
12. Place to keep login info for any listings you work on. Ideally that’s part of the “citation worksheet” (pictured above).
13. List of relevant and notable “niche” citation sources. Can be a mashup of resources like this, this, this, and this.  You’ll probably need to sift through the list to identify the most-important niche listings any given client should have. Add any keepers to your aforementioned citation worksheet for that client.
14. “Black book” of all the support departments at local-business directories and similar sites. Lists of contact info are here and here.
15. Local listings for your business. Just so you know how to handle listings on most of the sites you might work on for a client.
16. Google Maps user-profile with a solid track record of making edits (particularly anti-spam edits) that Google approves.
  17. Yelp account with a solid track record: a history of reporting reviews that end up getting removed, or suggesting edits that end up being approved.
Site
18. Site-audit spreadsheet. Here’s mine.
19. Real-life example of every element or practice you want (or don’t want) on a site. A homepage that covers all the bases, a “city page” that ranks well and brings leads, an irresistible title tag, a great job of incorporating all the services into the menu and internal linking, etc.
20. A migration checklist – short-n’-sweet, or exhaustive.
21. Schema.org markup for every occasion you use Schema. You don’t want to rely on plugins.  Also, if and when you hand-code and test it, you probably won’t want to do it all over again next time.
22. Your own site. For your business.  Kind of looks bad if you don’t have one (though most SEOs’ sites are about as useful as a Sears-Roebuck catalog).
23. A site you can experiment on freely. That may rule out all but your site.
(Of course, there are many paid and/or third-party tools that can help you on the site audit, and even more to help you work on the site.  Those have been covered in other posts, though.  I’m not here to remind you that you need your own FTP client.)
Links
24. Link questionnaire for your clients to fill out. Gives you a sense of what types of link-earning ideas your clients are most interested in, and any current link opportunities.
25. Spreadsheet for collaborating with clients on link opportunities. How you should lay this out is just a matter of taste, and of what works for you. I like to include several tabs: “ideas to discuss,” “working on,” “dead ends/not interested,” and “in the bag.”  Any given link opp goes on one of those tabs.
26. Spreadsheet for collaborating with any helpers of yours on link-huntin’.
27. Copies of successful outreach emails – emails that helped you eventually get hard-to-get links. You don’t want to reinvent the wheel every time, though you do want to take time to customize each email, of course.
28. Copies of your link-opportunities reports: the list of link opportunities you found and suggested to clients. Probably some of them will be relevant and useful in the future, and at the very least they’ll get the creative juices flowing.
Reviews
29. Spreadsheet for auditing clients’ reviews: which 5-12 review sites they should care about, how many reviews they’ve got on each site, how you’d suggest prioritizing, and the next steps you’d suggest. You can use it to plan your long-term work together on rustling up reviews.
30. List of questions you can use to figure out why your clients aren’t getting reviews. Maybe a shorter version of this.
31. Template for an initial review-encouragement email – for clients to send to their customers/clients/patients. Customize and tweak as necessary.
32. Template for a follow-up review-encouragement email. A friendly reminder, in case your client doesn’t get a review after sending the first email.
33. Written outline of the general review-encouragement strategy you suggest to clients. You can and should customize it to any given client’s specific situation.
34. Spreadsheet the client or designated “reviews person” can use to stay on top of the outreach for reviews. Who’s been asked, what happened, what’s next, etc.
35. Template for customizing review handouts. Like this or this.
Any internal (non-third-party) local SEO resources you’d add?
Any you’d like to share – maybe resources you created?
Which one(s) do you find the most useful?
