You and Sanemi have known each other ever since you both were still toddlers, well it's because his parents and your parents are close friends. Throughout the years, you both got closer and soon became almost inseparable.

Not really a surprise that you had developed a crush on him, but you decided to move on from him since you had a feeling that it might ruin your long-term friendship with him. Plus you're 100% sure that he'd never reciprocate your feelings anyway, so you just kept quiet and acted normal around him.

A few months ago, you've gotten yourself a boyfriend, he was sweet and kind to you, you loved him a lot. But recently he has been neglecting you and never really spending time with you any more, and when you told Sanemi today at lunch, he immediately wanted to kill that boyfriend of yours.

Hell he had wanted to kill him ever since you said you started dating him, Sanemi started to like you a while back before you started dating. Let's just say he didn't know how to express his feelings so he just kept it in deep inside that heart of his.

Sanemi had invited you to his house to know more about this boyfriend of yours and when it all happened. Sanemi never really got to know your boyfriend, you thought it was normal so you agreed to follow him to his house after school.

So now you're currently in Sanemi's bedroom talking.

Do you respond to comments?

Yes! I went through a period where I was very sporadic about it, but now I reply to them all. I'm even going through and answering old comments that have been there, unanswered, for years. The responses I've gotten from folks receiving a reply anywhere from a few months to 8 years later have been lovely. :D

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Definitely no heartbeat detected (IronStrange, true Drabble). I don't normally write much angst, and when I do, it's always with a happy ending. But that one was a prompt.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I don't think I can actually pick one? Almost all of my fics have happy endings!

Do you get hate on fics?

Nope. Which surprises me, honestly, because I've written plenty of tropes that other people get hate for all the time.

Do you write smut?

Yes! In fact, before I started writing the daily ficlets, I was primarily known as a smut writer. Almost everything I wrote was smutty. I find it kid of amusing that the drabbles have changed that.

Craziest Crossover?

Has to be the Band of Brothers/Terminator crossover. It's only posted on my old livejournal, but I'll upload it to AO3 one day and just watch people goggle at it. LOL.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of. The closest that I know of is someone who copied the entire first chapter (or couple of chapters?) of one of my more popular fics and then took it in a totally different direction. I contacted them and they were apologetic--the meant to go back and rewrite the beginning once they were done with their version, but they never finished it. They put a note and an inspired by tag on it after I contacted them, and that was fine with me.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Many times! Translations are always welcome.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yup! A couple times, although it's not something I do regularly.

All time favorite ship?

Hmmm. Difficult question. Longest lasting active ship is Steter, but all time favorite? I think it might be Marcus Cole/Neroon (Babylon 5).

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

This is a weird question for me, because I don't really work on more than one thing at a time, except for brief pauses on epic fics to knock out something short. And if I start to lose steam on a story I'm writing, there's not really a "doubt" phase. I either believe I will finish it, or it gets trunked and I don't consider it a WIP anymore, because it is no longer "in progress", it's just abandoned.

What are your writing strengths?

Characterization! I've had many compliments in this area.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Visual description, definitely.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Peppering in other language words to remind me of a character's background and for flavour is useful, but writing entire sentences in another language knock me right out of the story. If I have to check a footnote or hover text to know what they're saying, I instantly lose immersion.

Other language text that you can figure out from context is better than footnotes, but in my experience people rarely do it well.

First fandom you wrote in?

Star Trek: The Next Generation. It was on paper (one of those yellow note pads), but I never shared it with anyone. First fandom I actually posted in might have been Star Trek: Voyager? Or possibly Stargate: SG1. I'm not actually sure which came first. I have the stories (I think), but they aren't dated.

Favorite fic you've written?

Oh, gosh, I'm not sure. Maybe Patterns (Marcus/Neroon)? I've written better stories and more popular ones, but I have a soft spot for that one.

I'm currently writing for Visual Prison and The Untamed/MDZS fandoms, but in the past I've written for Star Wars Rebels, the mcu, Supernatural, and a few others

Maybe not so accidentally (899 kudos). A kalluzeb (star wars rebels) canon divergence AU

A Blind Goddess (657 kudos). Another kalluzeb fic. The star wars rebels fandom is a big one, so I guess it's not a surprise my top 3 fics with most kudos belong to it. It doesn't necessarily mean they're my best fics, only that more people have read them. But I'm grateful anyway.

The Reasons Why (426 kudos). Also a kalluzeb fic, and the first one I ever posted in English (I had only written in my own language until then). It was nerve-wracking to take that step but everyone's response was so kind it encouraged me to continue.

We Weren't Always Like This (413 kudos). This is a matchablossom fic (SK8 the Infinity), the first of the two fics I've written for that pairing.

Of course! The comments are a place to fangirl with people who are just as enthusiastic about the OTP as you are, what's not to like? Maybe I don't always reply as fast as I should, but I enjoy doing it.

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I think most of my fics have a happy ending, I'm a basic bitch and proud of it. The only exception I can recall is It's not over, a destiel fic that was inspired by episode 5x04 of Supernatural and there's no way a story set in that alternate timeline could end well tbh.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

The other 75? XDD. Okay, fine, there are two fics in which the happy ending felt very satisfactory to me because the characters went through quite a lot of angst to get there: Under the Spotlight (songxiao, The Untamed/MDZS) and Take my hand, take my whole life too (sagamist, Visual Prison)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, I've been really lucky in that regard

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do, but I'm pretty vanilla about it. I think the kinkiest thing I've ever written was some light bondage and very soft dom/sub dynamics.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

El vínculo más profundo. It's more of a fusion than a crossover actually. The characters are from the movie "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" but the story is set in the Pacific Rim universe. It was fun to write

Yes, it happened a couple of times with No es la sangre. Someone took it and posted it as their own, first on ffnet and then on wattpad. I don't think it was the same person in both cases. One of the (many) advantages of writing for small fandoms, as I do now, is that the chances of that kind of thing happening are almost zero.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Partially. Someone started translating No es la sangre into English, but they got busy and stopped after a while. I've thought about translating it myself but to be honest, I don't have the energy.

Yes, a very long time ago, with a very dear friend of mine. It was for the X-Files fandom.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

This is the most difficult question of this whole meme. I can't choose one, I love my ships dearly. I'd have to name at least five.

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I only have two wips currently in the works and I intend to finish both of them.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Action scenes, I think. Sometimes dialogue.

Pacing, infodumping, knowing how to let a story breathe and not rushing it. Those are the things I find more difficult to get right.

I changed my mind, this one is actually the most difficult question. Aaah, I don't know, I tend to associate my fics with the community I get to enjoy through them, you know? It's not about how proud I am of the fic itself, it's about the whole experience. I am very fond of En la prórroga because I wrote it as a birthday gift for a friend and she loved it. I'll always love Under the Spotlight because it was my doorway to the songxiao fandom, where I have met some of the most amazing people you can find on the Internet. The same for Can't go back anymore, my first visupri fic, because I got to become part of an incredible group of friends thanks to it. And then there's Baby, It's Cold Outside and all the fun we had while I was posting that one. I'm overwhelmed by the response I've received to Maybe not so accidentally and No es la sangre, because I never expected any fic of mine to become so loved by anyone. So how am I going to choose just one?

Capturing carbon from the air just got easier

A new type of porous material called a covalent organic framework quickly sucks up CO2 from ambient air

FULL STORY

Capturing and storing the carbon dioxide humans produce is key to lowering atmospheric greenhouse gases and slowing global warming, but today's carbon capture technologies work well only for concentrated sources of carbon, such as power plant exhaust. The same methods cannot efficiently capture carbon dioxide from ambient air, where concentrations are hundreds of times lower than in flue gases.

Yet direct air capture, or DAC, is being counted on to reverse the rise of CO2 levels, which have reached 426 parts per million (ppm), 50% higher than levels before the Industrial Revolution. Without it, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we won't reach humanity's goal of limiting warming to 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) above preexisting global averages.

A new type of absorbing material developed by chemists at the University of California, Berkeley, could help get the world to negative emissions. The porous material -- a covalent organic framework (COF) -- captures CO2 from ambient air without degradation by water or other contaminants, one of the limitations of existing DAC technologies.

"We took a powder of this material, put it in a tube, and we passed Berkeley air -- just outdoor air -- into the material to see how it would perform, and it was beautiful. It cleaned the air entirely of CO2. Everything," said Omar Yaghi, the James and Neeltje Tretter Professor of Chemistry at UC Berkeley and senior author of a paper that will appear online Oct. 23 in the journal Nature.

"I am excited about it because there's nothing like it out there in terms of performance. It breaks new ground in our efforts to address the climate problem," he added.

According to Yaghi, the new material could be substituted easily into carbon capture systems already deployed or being piloted to remove CO2 from refinery emissions and capture atmospheric CO2 for storage underground.

UC Berkeley graduate student Zihui Zhou, the paper's first author, said that a mere 200 grams of the material, a bit less than half a pound, can take up as much CO2 in a year -- 20 kilograms (44 pounds) -- as a tree.

"Flue gas capture is a way to slow down climate change because you are trying not to release CO2 to the air. Direct air capture is a method to take us back to like it was 100 or more years ago," Zhou said. "Currently, the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is more than 420 ppm, but that will increase to maybe 500 or 550 before we fully develop and employ flue gas capture. So if we want to decrease the concentration and go back to maybe 400 or 300 ppm, we have to use direct air capture."

COF vs MOF

Yaghi is the inventor of COFs and MOFs (metal-organic frameworks), both of which are rigid crystalline structures with regularly spaced internal pores that provide a large surface area for gases to stick or adsorb. Some MOFs that he and his lab have developed can adsorb water from the air, even in arid conditions, and when heated, release the water for drinking. He has been working on MOFs to capture carbon since the 1990s, long before DAC was on most people's radar screens, he said.

Two years ago, his lab created a very promising material, MOF-808, that adsorbs CO2, but the researchers found that after hundreds of cycles of adsorption and desorption, the MOFs broke down. These MOFs were decorated inside with amines (NH2 groups), which efficiently bind CO2 and are a common component of carbon capture materials. In fact, the dominant carbon capture method involves bubbling exhaust gases through liquid amines that capture the carbon dioxide. Yaghi noted, however, that the energy intensive regeneration and volatility of liquid amines hinders their further industrialization.

Working with colleagues, Yaghi discovered why some MOFs degrade for DAC applications -- they are unstable under basic, as opposed to acidic, conditions, and amines are bases. He and Zhou worked with colleagues in Germany and Chicago to design a stronger material, which they call COF-999. Whereas MOFs are held together by metal atoms, COFs are held together by covalent carbon-carbon and carbon-nitrogen double bonds, among the strongest chemical bonds in nature.

As with MOF-808, the pores of COF-999 are decorated inside with amines, allowing uptake of more CO2 molecules.

"Trapping CO2 from air is a very challenging problem," Yaghi said. "It's energetically demanding, you need a material that has high carbon dioxide capacity, that's highly selective, that's water stable, oxidatively stable, recyclable. It needs to have a low regeneration temperature and needs to be scalable. It's a tall order for a material. And in general, what has been deployed as of today are amine solutions, which are energy intensive because they're based on having amines in water, and water requires a lot of energy to heat up, or solid materials that ultimately degrade with time."

Yaghi and his team have spent the last 20 years developing COFs that have a strong enough backbone to withstand contaminants, ranging from acids and bases to water, sulfur and nitrogen, that degrade other porous solid materials. The COF-999 is assembled from a backbone of olefin polymers with an amine group attached. Once the porous material has formed, it is flushed with more amines that attach to NH2 and form short amine polymers inside the pores. Each amine can capture about one CO2 molecule.

When 400 ppm CO2 air is pumped through the COF at room temperature (25 °C) and 50% humidity, it reaches half capacity in about 18 minutes and is filled in about two hours. However, this depends on the sample form and could be speeded up to a fraction a minute when optimized. Heating to a relatively low temperature -- 60 °C, or 140 °F -- releases the CO2, and the COF is ready to adsorb CO2 again. It can hold up to 2 millimoles of CO2 per gram, standing out from other solid sorbents.

Yaghi noted that not all the amines in the internal polyamine chains currently capture CO2, so it may be possible to enlarge the pores to bind more than twice as much.

"This COF has a strong chemically and thermally stable backbone, it requires less energy, and we have shown it can withstand 100 cycles with no loss of capacity. No other material has been shown to perform like that," Yaghi said. "It's basically the best material out there for direct air capture."

Yaghi is optimistic that artificial intelligence can help speed up the design of even better COFs and MOFs for carbon capture or other purposes, specifically by identifying the chemical conditions required to synthesize their crystalline structures. He is scientific director of a research center at UC Berkeley, the Bakar Institute of Digital Materials for the Planet (BIDMaP), which employs AI to develop cost-efficient, easily deployable versions of MOFs and COFs to help limit and address the impacts of climate change.

"We're very, very excited about blending AI with the chemistry that we've been doing," he said.

The work was funded by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, Yaghi's carbon capture startup, Atoco Inc., Fifth Generation's Love, Tito's, and BIDMaP. Yaghi's collaborators include Joachim Sauer, a visiting scholar from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, and computational scientist Laura Gagliardi from the University of Chicago.

I was just thinking that I didn't write nearly as much as I wanted to this year, but looking at these numbers... maybe I didn't do so bad.

Between getting COVID and experiencing its brain fog and then taking up streaming as a hobby and then visiting family over the summer and then moving states and then looking for a job, my focus definitely waxed and waned, and my hyperfixations jumped around way more than ever before.

Whatever my current hyperfixation is xD So far I have the translation work for Jack Frost, a How to Train Your Dragon fic I write in German on Wattpad that I started translating to English on Ao3, a couple Kipo and one Owl House fanfiction. A current WIP is for Danny Phantom!

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 

Since I only have 6, I'll make it my top 3 xD

1. Purring 493 Kudos - Kipo discoveres that her Jaguar form has some... side effects (probably only has so many Kudos cuz it was the first fic in the fandom xD)

Angst? I don't know her (open ended BG3 OneShot where the Durge character basically murders her child in her sleep and wakes up realizing what happened, seeing Karlachs crushed expression, holding a weapon to her to protect their second child...)

All the others are happy endings I think xD I think one of the Kipo fics ended on a sleepy cuddle pile 🧐

Spite. Not technically a writing strength, but it is usually the only thing that makes me write at all xD

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Listen. It's fine if it's a little bit of a tease for non-speakers/inside joke for people who understand, stuff that isn't important to know for the story but you wanna add for flavour, or you have a translation right next to it.

But if you put plot relevant stuff in another language, and expect the reader to know about it later without having provided a translation in the fic? That's a no from me, sorry.

I don't wanna have to scroll all the way down to the notes, or, gods help me, open google. It disrupts the reading flow for me. I don't like it, that's probably not at all obvious... (sorty for the rant ^^"

So far, all my published fics are for Danny Phantom. It's a fandom that's near and dear to my heart and my favorite to write for. I've written fanfiction for myself in a lot of different fandoms over the years. Miraculous Ladybug, Mega Man (Star Force, Battle Network) and Fire Emblem are a few. (Will these ever see the light of day? Probs not, lol)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?  5. Frayed Ends - 37 kudos - Jazz and Maddie are fighting more often. Jack wants to reach out and help his family. 4. The Same Blood - 45 kudos - Maddie and Jack try to help a sick girl that collapsed in front of their house. They don't know what to make of her condition. Danny wants to help.

3. Returned Home - 49 kudos - Maddie finds Danny at home after he disappeared ten months ago.

2. The Broken Pieces Left Behind - 66 kudos (tie) - Maddie knew what the portal did to Danny. If she could create something that essentially turned him into a ghost, she could figure out a way to fix all of it. Even if she hasn't made any progress in the past two months, she'll keep trying. She didn't account for what Danny wanted. 1 . What's Out of Out Control - 66 kudos (tie) - Danny thought he had it under control. He thought he could finally hang out like they used to always do. Tucker could feel the rift between them widening. It wasn't getting smaller anytime soon.

5. Do you respond to comments?

I try to! There were a few comments from my two earlier fics that I never responded to and it's already been so long and I feel like I ended up putting it off too long to say anything now 😓But I'm so so thankful for all the comments I receive! I never thought anyone would read my work, let alone comment on it. I'm always between two modes of 'author commentary' and 'screaming thank you and running away'.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Lol, I love my angsty stuff and there are so many different flavors of angst, so it's hard to pick just one. I'd say the piece I aimed to write for Angst Fest, The Broken Pieces Left Behind, might be it. It ends on a rather hopeless note for the Fenton family that even I don't know how to make everything better for them

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Home for a Cat. It was for a Ectoberhaunt prompt that I was absolutely stumped on. So I decided someone was going to adopt a cat by the end of the fic.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Ahh, so I actually posted a fic on FFN wayyy back when I was in high school. I remember it being received pretty well but I got a really rude comment on a simple spelling mistake. Back then, I was just told I had dyslexia a few years prior and I had some really bad self-esteem issues tied in with that. So, yeah, that comment basically made me terrified to ever show my work to anyone ever.

It's been over ten years since then and I wanted to actually get over that fear. I impulsively decided to do Angst Fest with the mindset that no one would even look at what I posted. Not only did people look, everyone has been so kind!!!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

lkdajldkf, nope. I get flustered trying to write basic romance and having two characters hold hands, lmao. Major props to those that can, it's definitely a skill that takes time to master just like any other genre.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I haven't.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Also haven't had this either.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope, but it seems like a lot of fun.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Back when the show was airing, Amethyst Ocean (Danny/Sam) was my go to. I'm a sucker for friends to lovers tropes and it's really nostalgic for me. But, I don't really read a lot of shippy things for Danny Phantom, so ships don't make or break a fic for me.

If I'm looking to read romance, the whole Love Square (MariChat my beloved) with Miraculous Ladybug will always be great. Even if I jumped ship on the show around season 2 or 3 and I have no clue what they're doing now, lol.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I honestly have so many WIPs that are unfinished on my computer from over the years. Maybe a super old one that I titled 'Phantoms in the Daylight'. Angst once more with Character Death as the main pain point. I like the beginning but oh boy, does it get sloppy and confusing real quick. I'd need serious outlining energy put into it if I'd ever want to salvage it and I just don't have it in me.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue! Give me two blorbos and I'll make them talk forever.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Scenery and description. I love the dialogue portion so much that I end up running into the floating heads in an empty room problem in the first drafts of my fics. My first round of edits are dedicated to making sure I have a scene and grounding characters into it. And then I have to go back later to make it not feel so robotic sounding.

(Also a weakness but more as in fic than writing. Summaries and Titles. I stare at my drafts on AO3's editor for at least half an hour trying to pull something together, lol)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I can probably talk about this for hours, lol. I absolutely love foreign languages, especially when it comes to linguistics. So, I'll try to be brief, lmao. Short answer: depends on the fic but normally no. I already spend so much time fussing over the word choice/slang/formality/dialect characters use in my native language. I don't have a good enough grasp on another language for it to sound natural to the reader. ("They would not fucking say that" is my internal monologue during dialogue edits, lol)

19. First fandom you wrote for?

It's a toss up between Pokemon and Danny Phantom. I first learned about fanfiction from a friend who showed me FFN for the Pokemon fics. I looked around the site and found all of the Danny Phantom fics soon after and got hooked on those. I started writing around then and it would have been for one of those two.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Hard to chose one! Writing technicality wise, I'm proud of how What Remains on the Table turned out. I consider description my weak point, so the original draft was 0 dialogue with very stiff descriptions. I was able to edit it to really practice my environmental storytelling. (Although, please mind the tags if you click the link as it does deal with the dissection topic)

“We can’t go back inside, sir, the structure is too unstable!”

The voices on the radio frantically overlapped as the flames became increasingly vicious, the frame of the large house creaking and whining under the pressure as the foundation began to give way to the weight of wood and brick on the brink of collapse.

A large crowd was now gathered across the street from the house fire, gawking at the scene unfolding before them. There were murmurs as they watched multiple firemen fighting to get the flames under control. The smell of smoke combined with treated wood permeated most of the neighborhood accompanied by screams from the distraught family that had just lost their home.

Inside the burning house, a man coughed as the staircase before him collapsed. Being the last one inside, he’d managed to hear the sound of whines and barks through the thunderous cacophony of burning wood and crackling electrical appliances. He turned around just in time to grab the young labrador pup in his arms before running to the exit that was now blocked by fire and wooden beams.

He cursed as he realized he was stuck inside the burning home, turning left and right, looking for a way out. He’d reached for his radio to request backup but had lost it along with his helmet when the landing of the second floor had begun to give way under his feet.

For once, panic began to set in the seasoned firefighter as he realized he was well and truly trapped. He struggled to breathe and felt his vision haze at the edges. The heat of the fire burned the side of his face that wasn’t currently pressed up against the pup he was still guarding with his body.

The pup continued to growl in his arms and for a moment, Dean Winchester cursed himself for staying behind.

It was then that a section of the second floor to his side collapsed and a path to a window became visible. Holding on to the whining creature, Dean ran as fast as he could and braced himself for impact. Glass shattered as he jumped through and rolled onto the roof of the home’s front porch. As he landed, a deafening boom followed by an invisible force knocked Dean over the edge.

A fellow firefighter yelled for him and he felt someone tugging at his arms as darkness completely enveloped him.

The last thing his mind registered was the pup’s incessant barking.

Chateau de Chambord is located in the Loire Valley of Loir-et-Cher, France. The 16thcentury castle was built as a hunting lodge for King Francis I and served as a symbol of his power. Chambord Castle has a central square building and a keep with four towers, turrets, a lantern tower, cupolas, and domes. The estate is the largest enclosed forest park in Europe, with roughly 13, 443 walled acres. A 16-acre French-style garden was designed in 1734, while improvements and additions to the gardens occurred throughout its history. During the French Revolution, the castle was looted but not destroyed. In 1871, the estate was overseen by the Count of Chambord, who hired an estate manager, restored the castle, and opened it to the public. In 1883, the estate was inherited by his nephews, the Austrian princes of Bourbon-Parma. Due to their Austrian nationality, the estate was placed into receivership by the French state. In 1930, the castle and estate became state property. In 1981, Chateau de Chambord became a UNESCO’s world heritage site. The castle also sells products made from the estate, including honey, game terrines, wooden objects, objects made from antlers, wine, oak wine barrels, and more. Chateau de Chambord is open to the public and offers a restaurant, bike riding, a boat ride, a horse and birds of prey show, and electric cart rentals. Currently, the castle is closed to visitors, but the outdoor sites are open.
