Goth Rotation/Spring Year 1

Cassandra Goth has been struggling with her mother's death and all the mysteries surrounding it, with all her digging all signs point to a little town named Strangerville right outside Oasis Springs, she packed up her bags, said her goodbyes to her worried family and booked a long term stay at one of the only hotels in town. After talking to the strange dude at the curio shop she's been led to the library and now to an abandoned science facility what she finds in the front entrance is horrifying, her uncles remains...something horrible is truly happening here she needs to get through those sealed doors and find the truth. Playing with the goth family in @coolpuppy12 doodoo save! I had to take out 99% of my mods and all my cc recently and this save has made me fall in love with the vanilla game again <3

PATCH formerly being a part of the art cc is not surprising but it's so fascinating how they took some accountability for defending two users, Poppy & Zena, but continues the cycle by hanging out with folks like Curio and enabling his "all callouts bad" mindset.

CURIOUS. How Patch continues to make the mistake of keeping rose tinted glasses on and seemingly refusing to read callouts.

I know you're not interested in DD2, but have you seen they're bringing back the mosquito enemies? I wonder what the implications would be, lore wise.

yes, i've seen it. and they were the reason i seriously thought about leaving tumblr for a week or two so i wouldn't be reminded of that.

my personal bias aside, with the "grace" and "care" RH handled shoehorsing Reynauld back into the story, the story itself, the final boss' big attack and all its implication, crusaders' lore, monsters' lore, characters' backstories and current personalities, all i can feel towards this update is grim exasperation. I'm so tired feeling anything about DD2, i have enough depressing and disappointing things in my life as is.

Crimson Curse things were in DD2 even beforehand, like the Wine and all, but they were references at best in some curio finds. And afaik, this mode with CC enemies will be completely separate from the og game? Pretty funny, if the game itself to be believed, and how the calamity of the Angry God or whatever generic name the last big bad has, engulfs the whole world. Is it set after DD2 timeline? If so, would we have DD2 characters still? Why would they go and try to kill themselves again? You'd think saving the world two times would be enough to earn a retirement, no...?

Can I be real, for a moment? I don't think there will be any lore. Any justification, any reason beside a haphazard "go there, do thing" hidden in a flowery violet prose. They will strip mine DD1 for cool looking monsters and that would be it. "go there, kill thing". My belief in RH being able to write complex justifications fell through bedrock and somehow manages to still knock from below. So all I expect is nothing, and I know I will still be disappointed. Unless there will be some miracle involved. But it's 2024, where would anyone get a miracle?

I'll force myself to check it out once it will be out, I know myself too well and I follow a twitch streamer who plays DD2 with enthusiasm. But that would be more an autopsy than hype. I don't expect anything than tired resentment for living burial of a franchise which helped me through the years of war around.

This honestly reminds me of an old joke about a vulture who was told "Look how much life is there!". And the vulture could only answer "Yep, a tad too much, even" as they obsevre maggots wiggling and bloating the corpse they're sitting on.

Sorry for the negativity, I guess, but this is all that DD2 has from me.

I [now] use NixOS, btw

Day 58 - Jan 2nd, 12.024

So today's post is kinda different to me, because I'm now writing it in Obsidian as I normally do. Why?

Because I finally switched to NixOS! Sort of.

I pretty much at this moment have a totally clean install, no custom configuration, no installed software, nothing. Just the vanilla GNOME installation. Hopefully until tomorrow I have, at least part of, my previous environment set up, but I'm writing this right now directly on Tumblr's editor, because there's the possibility that I don't install Obsidian in time for this post's deadline.

It's feels good having a clean install again, for some reason I always feel great trying new things related to my computer and Linux.

Nonetheless, tomorrow I will probably do a better post explaining about what I want to do, what's NixOS, why I'm using it in more details, yadda yadda. For now if you end up curios, you can read Day 49's entry: Another "return", another "Change"
