This was honestly one of the best cartoons in recent years for me. It made me feel young again and puts a smile on my face when I watch it. The show's style, characters and story really had me invested and even if it isn't perfect, I still hold it near and dear to my heart. ❤️

justice_for_skull on ao3 left a really lovely comment on the most recent chapter of lucy takes the long way home, but one of the things they said is how lockwood checking for lucy's pulse to ground himself is going to end up being used again and again in fanfics after being featured in mine (and possibly already has!! i know there's some hand-on-chest-feel-my-heartbeat ones out there and the pulse scenario has cropped up in many a nancy drew cw fic including my own)

it got me thinking about how i love when fanon spreads through fics and fanart until it becomes tropes that are synonymous with fanworks even when it isn't originally in the source material

so here are some of my fave l&co fanon tropes that i never tire of (and have used almost all of at some point or another):

locklyle sharing a bed in a 'platonic' way after visiting the other side (or even before then, bed-sharing is *chef's kiss* in every fic)

lockwood calling lucy 'darling' as a pet name (gonna take some partial credit for this one from starry eyes though i'm sure it popped up before)

lucy and lockwood both being entirely incapable of cooking (even better when there are allusions to them almost burning down the house)

the morning routine of george making the breakfast, lockwood making the tea (domesticity my beloved)

any combination of the iron trio/cot3 having middle of the night cups of tea together after nightmares (again, domesticity my beloved)

lucy calling lockwood 'anthony' and him making her say it again (it gets me!! every time!! no matter whether it's in a fluffy or smutty or even angry context, every time 'say it again' ahhhhhh)

LOCKWOOD LITTLE SPOON SUPREMACY (this one is not as common, but it's one of my absolute faves)

betting pool on locklyle run by george (even better when side characters like arif are in on it)

lockwood knowing how to dance, lucy having two left feet (this one is probably the most rooted in canon but it still counts to me)

at least one of the boys knowing when lucy is on her period and providing her favourite chocolate/extra tea/being super nice without mentioning it to her (especially when it's george and he's like I HAVE A CALENDAR)

thoughts I've had while re reading poa as a marauders fan, part one (chapters 1 - 4)

(id just like to point out this is my first time reading the books since middle school and first time I've read the books since I became a marauders fan in 2020)

chapter 1

- ok so ye the Weasleys are really poor, but if they're "extremely poor" you'd figure they'd use their money for something other than a vacation

-why did I start to dislike hermione so much again??? maybe it's just movie hermione I hate and I can't remember the differences between the two

chapter 2

-why are most of the antagonistic characters portrayed as fat and why is the fact that dudley is obese brought up so many fucking times like that seems pretty fat phobic of you Rowling

- when actually reading and thinking about the Harry potter books and movies I imagine the actor that played sirius and not the fanart marauders sirius I'm more used to, and apparently his hair is depicted as elbow length in the books not shoulder length WE WERE ROBBED. could have had long haired sirius with a bun in ootp

- also I swear marauders Era Sirius and golden trio era Sirius (so canon and fanon sirius) are two completely different people in my mind

- also forgot "muggle" news talked about sirius

-just finished the chapter and seriously he is so sassy (guess that's what you get when you're Sirius and marlenes godson, and James and Lily's actual son)

- also I really fucking hate how much mental abuse is glazed over here like????

-no wonder these people keep having Wizarding wars and unstable teachers at their schools

- love how this 13 year old kid is panicking over the possibility of going to wizard prison for breaking one rule

-also side note the more I read the more I feel like Daniel Radcliffe portrayed him super well

chapter 4

- ah Florean Fortescue the one genuinely nice adult in these books (isn't he like Alice's dad or something?) I just remembered her last name is actually more or less a headcanon uhhh that's fun

- the Irish quidditch team are actually mentioned along with the quidditch world cup even Harry's checkin out the firebolt

- coincidence that Dean and Seamus are mentioned at the same time? I think not

- seriously jkr why do you keep giving kids abusive gaurdians and acting like it's nothing (talking about Neville and his grandmother)

- "...Ron looking incredibly freckly, Hermione very brown..." (pg 55 in my book). when first reading this part years ago I registered it as Hermione was black/poc and not that she was just tan from the sun lmao

- I swear crookshanks was James' old cat and that's why he hated peter

Sorry, but I need to rant and I feel like only you understand.

Sometimes I want to bang my head against the wall. There’s fanfics and fanart with James x Regulus but Harry still exists; Sirius x Remus but Teddy still exists; Harry x Draco but James, Al, Lily, and Scorpius still exist; James x Teddy but Remus Jr. still exists; Al x Scorpius but his offspring with Rose still exists... Like wtf is going on?? Women are there to provide a barren and then the men decide they don’t need them??? Are women really supporting this? Do they not realize they are oppressing woman? Fucken misogyny at its finest. Not sure if this is a gen z thing or a group of people who think women are only good at giving birth to their favourite fanfic character (which is usually male, surprise, surprise), but I’m so disgusted with fandom. I’m sticking to authors and artists who actually respect women and think there’s more to female characters than them just providing offsprings for their favourite male character.

It boggles my mind, especially in the Marauders fandom since everyone is OOC and nothing is canon, that they have Harry and Teddy. Especially Teddy because he was named after, you know, Tonks’ DAD. Why not just create new kids??

Some name overlap I could see. James and Lily if Harry’s parents still died. Okay that means something to Harry. Or, I suppose, maybe even the name Harry since James’ grandfather was Henry and most likely named after him. But there should be different middle names, different personalities, etc. Harry definitely can’t be the Boy Who Lived because the prophecy no longer exists and Lily isn’t there to sacrifice herself. Just… switch it up?

I don’t know. But I’ve seen this with a variety of different ships. The kids remain the same which is odd to me.

I see people talking about how a lot of authors do this because they don’t know how to write strong female leads. There’s less f/f relationships for the same reason. Women are hard to write apparently. I don’t know if that’s the reason or what.

I find emotionally damaged characters easier to write than well-adjusted characters. Sometimes I fumble with Ginny because she’s a strong leading female. But I find her easier to write when she’s going through it like in Entombed. I’m sure if I wrote a Marlene POV in Brumous, I’d find her easier to write than say a happy-go-lucky and idealistic Nymphadora.

So, I don’t know. A lot of AUs tend to follow canon events closely, especially in the Golden Trio era. The Horcruxes are in the same places. Sirius still dies in the DOM. The next gen have the same names even if the couples are different. Side couples tend to remain the same. So maybe it’s just that. It’s easier, I guess.

But in Petrichor, Romelza have all different kids. Different names, different number, different ages, different everything. You won’t be seeing Rose or Hugo at all. Even Hinny will have more kids because Harry’s in a better headspace having the support of Sirius and because I always pictured them having a boatload of kids. So there’s that.

I don’t know if any of that made sense. I’m only on cup one of coffee.

From JJK, it has to be ItaFushi. I think the moment I started shipping them was in the Goodwill Event, when Megumi says "If you die, I'll kill you myself!" to Yuji. But even in the first episode you can see it.

They are just so cute and tragic and I wanna wrap them in a blanket and give them a warm cup of tea and protect them from the world. I really wanna believe they will break the SatoSugu curse, but it's Jujutsu Kaisen, and it's likely that it won't end happy. But I'll still play pretend and let them have some peaceful moments in my fanfics.

2. OT3?

To be honest, I don't ship any 3-person ship, at least not romantically, but as a platonic ship, our trio ItaFushiKugi is cute! I like to think they go shopping and buy snacks and watch movies on their off time.

And I also like Yuta/Toge/Maki/Panda as a platonic ship as well.

5. Out of all your fanworks that include [character], which is your favorite?

My favorite character is Choso, but I haven't really made any original works of him, yet. (I have a fanfic in the works though!) Unless you count this tweet I made recently that's my most popular tweet about Choso.

10. What's your favorite piece of fanart for [character]?

For Choso, I'm choosing this one from @/thejessc0de, which is the first fan art of him that I saw and I instantly fell in love with his design, so I needed to know who he was, and that's how I got around to reading the manga! And I read it and I quickly fell in love with him as a character.

As a bonus, my other favorite character is Nanami, so this is one of my favorite fan arts of him.

I’m probably gonna get some hate for this, but despite all the really cute fanart I’ve been seeing of CupChal and MugChal, I don’t really ship either of those myself. For one thing, I personally see Cuphead as aroace, so I really don’t ship him with anybody, let alone Chalice. Also, I’m not really big on the whole “sole female of the trio becoming a love interest” trope. This isn’t to say that being a love interest is a “bad” thing. I just feel that, as an aroace gal myself, female leads fall into the love interest role way too often in media, and I personally think it’s more refreshing to have Ms. Chalice and the Cup Bros just be friends. I still respect people who ship those pairings, though.
