Ways to cultivate patience
Feeling impatient is an automatic emotional response to situations beyond our control that involves our conscious thoughts and beliefs. It is important we find ways to cultivate patience so that we become less irritated by people and things. It is particularly important in these challenging times of world change.
To bring about change around being impatient, it is important we learn to take a look at our circumstances and begin to perceive our thoughts differently, so that we are able to find a way through, without becoming impatient or irritated. Cultivating and having patience is linked to good health.
In a 2007 study, Schnitker and Emmons found that people who were patient were less likely to struggle with health problems like ulcers, diarrhoea, headaches and colds. There are ways for us to build and cultivate patience.
Practicing and mastering the art of being mindful is important. Take a deep breath and notice your feelings, stand back on your circumstances, so that you’re looking at your issue from the outside in, so you’re not continually being caught up in the moment.
Practice gratitude. Having and being grateful for what and who we have in our lives goes a long way to cultivating patience. Families must all work together. Governments, society and communities must also work together.
Patience is a virtue which once we have mastered will change our lives indefinitely. We’re living through a pandemic, patience has become even more important.

Save your energy for things that are worthy, for things with *your* name on it.
