Which DVDs are you talking about?
Farscape lol there's a couple different sets and I'd probably just end up going with whatever's ultimately cheapest. but the more I think about it, the more that rounding up the whole series through used discs sounds like an absolute nightmare actually
#will not stoop low enough to ask any fandom veterans to rip an .iso for me 😔#ik there's the full series anniversary box set but it's like $200 bucks new and i do not have that kind of money#cue the tiny sad violin

symphonic insanity - the conductors
au info
ok this was actually one of the first things I thought about when coming up with this au and it makes me laugh lol. also my bad if this is word salad it's a bit of a brain dump
Mephone:
An up and coming conductor that wants to put on a good show. Compared to Mepad and Toilet's style of conducting, he is an all-rounder. Can keep a beat and has pretty good body language. He does have room to improve though, especially when it comes to accepting feedback from the orchestra. Initially a bit of an ass; if you ask him for a cue after say, a 9 measure rest or something, he'll probably just tell you that you just need to learn to count lol. His stubborn nature does cause a bit of a rift between him and the orchestra in the beginning. As for what instrument Mephone plays, I'd imagine he can play the violin, and probably piano. I don't think he enjoys playing violin very much though.
Mepad:
A pianist looking to break out of his shell. Mepad is basically a living metronome. However, he is not very expressive when conducting. Like, at all. Mepad conducts like a drum major, which would be fine if they were in marching band, except this is a symphony orchestra. I think the orchestra would be fine with Mepad's conducting, but stuff like communicating dynamics and style and whatnot might be unclear. I think also Mepad would give very little feedback unless noticeable errors were happening like being in time, or intonation/wrong notes. When he does give feedback, it is a bit blunt as well. Everyone also might be a bit intimidated because of Mepad's quiet nature along with his strict conducting, but dammit, they are in time.
Toilet:
A violist new to conducting. Honestly, he's there to have a good time. Mephone let him on the team because nobody else had applied as conductor. Toilet probably applied because he heard about Mephone and his orchestra from their previous performance (S1 contestants). Toilet holds Mephone in high regard and wants to earn his respect as well. I think Toilet would definitely be fun to have as a conductor. However, he has the exact opposite problem that Mepad has. While it's good to be expressive and fluid in your conducting so the orchestra understands how they should be playing and when they should change it, Toilet can be too much. It's almost dangerous actually. He's probably launched the baton at someone on accident conducting an intense piece (DO NOT LET THIS MAN CONDUCT DVORAK NO 9!!!!!!!!!). Has stumbled off the podium before, and fallen off a stage atleast once. Toilet's also definitely knocked the score off his stand before. Alternatively, he's almost crying during the slow, sad, emotional pieces. He is...very in tune with the emotional parts of the pieces he conducts. I think he does have a lot of potential, but he gets a bit lost in the music. This does come at the cost of his conducting being a little muddy and hard to read at times.
Throughout the course of the au, I think they'd probably balance each other out and learn to become better conductors. They have long way to go though.

what were the Doctor's and the Master's education like? like which Chapter schools did they go to and how long did they stay and such?
What were the Doctor and the Master's school days like?
The early lives of the Doctor and the Master contain a lot of contradictory information, so below is the path of least resistance.
🌱Early Days
The Doctor (AKA Theta) was from the Oldblood House of Lungbarrow, and the Master (AKA Koschei) was from the Newblood House of Oakdown, both of which were in the Prydonian Chapter.
In their youth, they would have both undergone a period called brainbuffing. This intensive education, supervised by robotic avatroids in their Houses, involves learning the very basics.
🎓Academy Initiation
At the age of 8, candidates for the academies take an entrance exam. Both Koschei and Theta passed these and were taken from their Houses and put in dormitories at the Prydon Academy.
Theta and Koschei met on the first day and instantly bonded, becoming fast friends. They were both tutored by Borusa, a stern yet influential mentor. They would often cause trouble together and go AWOL from classes. One excursion led to the death of a fellow student named Torvic - an event that would change Theta and Koschei's lives forever.
🌌 The Untempered Schism
Somewhere in the first term, both Theta and Koschei were taken for the Untempered Schism initiation, where they were made to stare into a gap in spacetime.
Koschei: Koschei's experience was very traumatic. He was overwhelmed by the sound of drums—a relentless beat that would haunt him for the rest of his lives. This drumbeat, coupled with the fallout from that day with Torvic began to warp his mind and soul.
Theta: Theta, on the other hand, was terrified by the Schism, and he ran away. This instinct to run would become a defining characteristic of his lives.
Once this was complete, their proper education began.
For more on grade levels/years, see the related section.
🏫 Entrance to the Time Academy
In 5th Grade at around aged 20, students take the entrance exam for the Time Academy. Both Theta and Koschei passed these. They didn't need to go anywhere else, because Prydon Academy is also the Time Academy - it's the only academy able to give out the title of Time Lord.
🧠 The Time Academy
For more on classes taught, see the related section.
The curriculum at the Time Academy was challenging and varied. From advanced temporal theory and stellar engineering to telepathic disciplines and even recreational mathematics, the Academy was designed to push young Time Lords to their limits.
Theta and Koschei were inseparable for a lot of this time, sharing a love for experimenting with forbidden sciences. They played pranks, like trapping a teacher in a time loop, and often skipped classes to engage in unsanctioned experiments. Koschei excelled at hypnotism and took pleasure in teaching Theta some of his tricks, although their uses of these skills would diverge dramatically in the future.
They were also part of an elite group known as the Deca, which included other future renegades like Ushas (who would become the Rani). The Deca engaged in activities ranging from building 'time flow analogues'—devices to disrupt each other's experiments—to forming a band called the 'Gallifrey Academy Hot Five,' where Theta played the lead perigosto stick and Koschei played the drums.
Amidst all their studies and mischief, the two made a pact to one day explore every star in the universe together. Cue the sad violin music. 🎻
🎓 Graduation
As they approached graduation, the differences in their outlooks became more obvious. Koschei saw himself as destined for greatness, driven by a desire to control and shape the universe. Theta, in contrast, was more of a dreamer, fascinated by the beauty and mystery of the universe rather than its domination. Their friendship began to fracture after an incident where Koschei broke a promise, leading Theta to realise that their paths were too different to remain friends.
According to some accounts, both Theta and Koschei graduated at around 236 years old, as part of 'The Class of the 4th Millennium' or 'the Class of '92'. While Theta supposedly passed his Time Lord qualifying exams with the lowest possible passing grade—51%—other stories suggest he was expelled before he could graduate due to his political views.
🚀 Beyond Graduation
Some accounts suggest Koschei stayed on at the Academy to get another degree, while others say he went into teaching for a while, or maybe something else. Theta, meanwhile, might have worked a few jobs before he took a TARDIS and left, depending on who you ask.

Jegulus, but inspired by your lie in April because I need to let it out on the world.
Effie died when James was young so he stopped playing the piano even though he was famous for it.
When James was around 17 years old, he met this guy playing a violin in a busy crowd. He was mesmerized by him. James began to gush about his new crush to his friends. (The marauders, Lily, Marlene, and Mary)
Days later his best friend, Sirius introduces his younger brother to them and James is frozen because his crush is Sirius's brother. Anyway, it was a chaotic and disastrous first meeting between the two.
Regulus later introduces his friends to them and somehow it leads to them getting friendly with each other.
James and Regulus slowly got closer to each other even though Regulus keeps denying their friendship and being a little shit to James.
James realized he was falling deeper in love when one day he met Regulus on the street at night and they had this moment. Regulus somehow manages to convince him to play the piano again for a short while and comforts him when he breaks down in tears.
Regulus was supposed to play in a contest with someone but they backed out at the last minute and he somehow managed to make James agree to play with him on a stage.
James is hypnotized by his playing and it makes him remember the past with his mom. They didn't manage to get to the next level of the competition, but they had a good time together.
Regulus and Sirius suddenly disappear for a few days and no one knows what happened to him until Sirius tells them that they are in the hospital.
They learned that Regulus is sick and he needs to go to the surgery if he wants to live longer, but it has a 50/50 chance.
Cue James gets sad and angry at the world because he remembers his mom before cancer takes her away and Regulus crying all over him because he doesn't want to die yet.
Regulus made him promise something and then without James' knowledge, Regulus continues with the surgery. James learned that Reg died when Sirius called him crying and when James arrived there he got a letter from Reg.
Inside the letter is a picture of a child James passing by a beaming child Sirius and Regulus. Regulus confesses to him that he has liked him for a long time and he is his inspiration for playing the violin he hopes that James will live for a long time and play the piano again.

progress and plans: The Dancer and His Musician
[The progress and plans] TDAHM 7 has 9k words and more coming. I don't know if I should split it or not.
They're in Grillby’s, with Red focusing on Sans. Really, intensely focused. Sans is trying to shift the topic every chance he gets.
Red gives the invitation card, and Sans tells him it's outdated. Then, he asks Red when he's going. Red tells him he's too lazy for it, so he doesn't know when, but since he figured Edge might get invited by Papyrus, he'd make sure to check it out.
Sans decides to go out that night since he thinks Red isn't going. Red decides to go out that night because he thinks he should check it out immediately. Cue separate magical masked dude transformation. Sans ends up looking ambiguous, and Red ends up looking like a serial killer.
[Bulleted list below]
Current potential paths, some unwritten:
Throwing alcohol on Bun so a wolf can take her home.
Resolving a weird misunderstanding on Bun’s part where she thinks that Red is playing hard to get, and that Edge told her that Red likes to draw it out.
Revealing that Red chose Bun so Edge would know his serial dating thing sucks so hard that he should just give up.
Making Red go to Shyren’s alone, so he can scout the place and realise that Bun was so drunk that she'd told him the outdated information for Shyren’s. (Come on, Bun, it's been almost three years.)
Sans going to Shyren’s and managing to clear the dancefloor with his presence alone (because they know his new dance moves seem to be his true power and they're intimidated by him)
Sans isn't mainly a dancer that can dance many other dances. His main draw is high charisma and seduction, but he and the rest of the world don't know it... He suspects it's something along those lines anyway.
Red seeing a masked dancer moving like sin to yearning music. It doesn't fit the theme, but the dancer makes it work somehow.
Red becoming smitten and curious about the dancer.
Red attempting to stop the dancer from leaving by playing him music with a violin.
Sans shows interest in the musician who came to play music for him. He listens to it and nods along and then leaves with a goodbye.
Red becomes restless and needs to see that dancer again.
Some hints that Red had a musician dedicated to him.
That musician is Sans, back then when he'd been trying to make music for Red. He doesn't know this. Red doesn't know this.
Many misunderstandings and Red being oblivious, and Sans being oblivious.
Dance rules and some weird clothing secrets.
Sans seemingly depressed and Papyrus sees Red attempting to lighten up his buddy. Papyrus calls him an amateur, picks a fight with some musicians, challenges them to a double duel, goes home and lies down on the couch, and acts sad. Sans worries over his sad brother, and Papyrus tells him that he's insecure about his double duel with the musicians. Sans may be incensed.
Papyrus asks for his help, and Sans accepts. Papyrus tells Red to get Edge so they can see what a dance with two monsters would look like in a double battle.
Red finally witnesses Sans dancing and Papyrus is leading. Edge is sweating, Red loses control of his grip and crushes a mustard bottle until it drips all over his hand.
Red realising Sans is a super awesome dancer, and Papyrus is equally as cool. Papyrus tells him the secret to keep Sans moving: mysterious dance tiles that bring out the rave from the graveyard!
Red keeps meeting the mysterious dancer, and they get close enough that the dancer reveals that they still have lingering feelings for their best friend. Red gets a little or a lot attached that he starts to not care that they haven't moved on. He wants the dancer to himself. He doesn't think he'll mind sharing because he still wants a piece even if he can't have other parts of the dancer.
The dancer helps him with dancing, and Red teaches the dancer... except, somehow, the dancer knows how to play music. And, they're pretty good at it, if a bit oblivious about their skill.
Red planning to trap Sans to a rave with his music. We have Sans purposely stepping onto a dance tile, and it attracts many monsters over. Many monsters are dancing, but Red is focusing on Sans and... yep. There it is, Sans moving like he's a magnet, and Red's soul is a piece of metal.
Red experiences a crisis. Sans is hot. His dancer is also hot. His soul is basically split between two people and he's in trouble.
Red confesses his split feelings to the dancer who might have the same experience. The dancer empathises with him, and they become closer.
They have weird ambiguous courtship signals, and they both know that there's another person out there who they love, too.
When... things get hot on a dance, and they get tangled all over, they decide to just pursue the other half. They plan to make a quad. So, Red pays attention to Sans' dance style so Red can dive in and try to grab him home, but—
It takes a sharp sense of movement for Red to realise that Sans' moves and the dancer's moves are overlapping in his head. He figures it out, but he's a sweaty, nervous mess about it, and Sans doesn't know that Red has put things together.
Sans still acts in peace while Red is trying so hard to calm down and settle the dancer's real identity the... next time they meet.
Sans unmasks for Red in the next meeting, smiling at his nervous musician and Red panics, and Sans thinks that it's because Red is still shy. Red is not shy. He's probably going to faint or going to jump him. The pose they have for this revelation is... uh. Yeah, it's in a private cabin. They were dancing together, and things might have heated up a little.
Red's unmasking involves magic smooches. When Sans realises it's him, everything suddenly makes sense, and he's jumping ahead, and they'll probably talk the next day, right?
nope.
The next day?
nope.
The next day after the next day?
nah.
They might not leave the cabin until their weird honeymoon is over. Red is relieved that his feelings aren't split between two people, Sans is relieved it was his best friend all along, and that Red wasn't straight after all.
Missing parts:
There's Sans giving Red a violin that has many skulls on it. It's magical, and the orange in it projects the sound farther.
The dancer told Red that he knew music because he was trying to woo his musician with music.
Red completely overlooks things because he thinks the dancer and Sans are not the same people because Sans can't even joke about music stuff.
Stuff like Papyrus and Edge scenes and more Red and Sans scenes.

yes, and? - Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande's "Yes, And?" music video was a stroke of genius, challenging perceptions of celebrity culture with playful wit and insight. The opening scene cleverly tackled the notion of celebrities as mere entities for public consumption, highlighting the absurdity of expecting them to debunk every internet rumor.
One standout moment was when a critic delivered the iconic line, "I read it on the internet, so it must be true," serving as a cheeky reminder to fans to take online gossip with a grain of salt. The video's portrayal of Ariana being met with adoration from a crowd further emphasized the power dynamics at play in celebrity fandom.
The incorporation of statues as symbolic representations of Ariana's artistry was a masterstroke, asserting her ownership of her creative expression. The nods to her past eras added a nostalgic touch, allowing fans a brief chance to reminisce about the “old Ari” they desperately miss (cue the sad violin) and showing them a glimpse into the evolution of her persona.
The attention to detail in the choreography was mesmerizing, showcasing Ariana's precision and control. Moments like the graceful foot slide exuded a sense of tranquility amidst the energetic performance.
The deliberate changes in lighting throughout the video signified a shift in tone, mirroring the intensity of Ariana's artistic expression. The warm color palette evoked a sense of passion and depth. Things were getting heated!
A subtle theme emerged of transitioning from dislike to admiration, accompanied by a period of tension and resistance. Ariana's calm composure throughout the video captivated me. It highlighted her unwavering confidence in both herself and her music, affirming her belief in her enduring impact, irrespective of critics' perceptions or judgments.
The final scene, where critics were seen leaving ecstatically, brought the narrative full circle, reinforcing the message of resilience and self-assurance. It was a powerful statement from Ariana, asserting her control over her own narrative and artistic vision.
In summary, "Yes, And?" was a triumph of creativity, signaling a bold new chapter in Ariana Grande's Eternal Sunshine era. She wasn't afraid to use her craft to set the record straight and assert her boundaries, and I was here for that energy! Don’t play on her name!

i never thought i would have a more unhinged concert experience than this past fall but i think this one actually beat it in that respect
overall: MUCH better than yesterday. vibes just felt massively improved and i felt it in my playing
somewhere in the middle of a piece i straight up got my right elbow HIT by the scroll of the associate concertmaster’s violin. i have no idea how it happened nor do i know why his scroll was there but it hurt and he did not offer so much as an apology afterward. sigh oh well
we should have a system of filing onstage instead of just randomly swanning in whenever we feel like it lmao. i think that contributes to concerts starting late. however ate honorsprofessor and the graduate student insist on following me onstage like baby ducklings so that’s funny to me
boy this program really was just grueling, i operated at maybe 80% for the mendelssohn italian second movement so i could devote more energy to the dvořák 7 third movement but still wound up absolutely SPENT for the haydn 104 finale. i swear i only managed to push through by grace alone. this was probably the most intense program i have played yet
i think the only piece where we had any lengthy rest was the brahms serenade 1 movement 1 with the two 20-ish bar rests. so that was like. two hours of almost straight playing
after the dvořák tita conductor gave us a huge grin which i would have appreciated more if i hadn’t been desperately been trying to rally the troops (my strength) to power through the haydn
i got a handshake from tita conductor at the end of the concert 😭 she did not do this last night or warn the non-concertmaster string principals during the warmup that she was going to go for it so i was taken completely by surprise when she held her hand out to me after shaking the concertmaster’s hand so i probably looked like 😳 when i took it LMAOOOO
okay here’s where things get really unhinged.
i knew i wanted a picture with tita conductor at some point in the school year and reckoned that this would be a good time to ask since this is (i think) our last concert that’s just us and not with other ensembles for the year.
i kind of chickened out but ate honorsprofessor egged me on (no shoving me towards tita conductor this time though)
my parents, some of my coworkers, and one of my friends attended and i waved my dad over before approaching tita conductor on the stage and asked her for a picture
tita conductor brightened and said “yes—my best principal second that i’ve ever had!”
oh god. she is not emotionally prepared for me graduating.
anyways we had the picture (i also asked ate honorsprofessor to be in it too because. its literally the cover of the graphic memoir), and then she said to me “there’s a part in the brahms where you have to count so many rests and then come in with pizzicato. i never get to cue you there but you always come in anyway. by the time i figured out i needed to cue, you had already figured it out yourself and you have never missed that entrance.”
i was like “oh, well, i love the brahms” trying to explain that i have listened to it so much that half the time i wasn’t even counting i was just going with how it sounded in my head and then she said fervently “i do too” like girl i know. you picked the piece. you keep singing it. you made the program 😭😭
there’s also the fact that whoever wrote the part put a brief viola cue in there which makes it easier for me. but i didn’t say that
it should not surprise me that tita conductor likes me this much but it does surprise me that i rank that highly even though she’s only known me for a little over a year. fun times
sad that we may not have rehearsal this thursday but really—after that exercise in endurance i do need some good quality rest
