the thing about bruce and jason's philosophies that gets to me is how similar they are. they're both very simple, child-like views on how evil should be dealt with. but they differ on killing and it sets them so far apart.
i remember being 9 years old watching a:tla with my family and being so frustrated that aang was unwilling to kill firelord ozai. like, yeah, taking life is a big deal, but if anyone had earned it ozai had earned it. i wanted aang to get over himself and see the bigger picture and do the right thing.
and the thing is, i do think he ultimately did the right thing. not that killing ozai would've been wrong- it would have been the wrong decision for aang, but my point is that there was more than one "right" decision to dealing with ozai.
life isn't neatly black and white, with only one correct choice at every step. but bruce and jason, typically, do not think that way. sometimes they can be respectful of differing viewpoints but by and large, they are so set and defensive of their ways that they struggle to connect even though there is so much room for them to have common ground. because they think that if they concede to any of the other's views they're contradicting themselves and that would make them wrong and they cannot be wrong. and it's unfortunate because it holds them back from growing.
they're never going to have the exact same viewpoint. and that's okay. but that doesn't mean that one of them is always right/good and the other is wrong/bad.
#i have so many thoughts about jason#like soooo many because he is so compelling to me#there's so much room for complex#but most of what i see is so reductive#and that's so boring#jason todd#bruce wayne#red hood#batman#cue analysis

An Affair to Remember
Alright, let's get into Affair the Series, which has been giving me brainrot the past few weeks so feels like a good time to get into an analysis of why I find it so fascinating. Eventually I'd love to do a deeper dive into Thai GLs and that industry (that's a whole other thing though) but after having seen my share of them (Gap, Show Me Love, TSOU, The Loyal Pin) I've really found myself falling into the rabbit hole with Affair the Series and the way it depicts friendship, love, and acceptance.
Deep dive below and also thank you gif makers for your work 🙏🏽
(also will go over events from episodes 1-5, so spoilers ahead if not up-to-date)
So first off, I have read the novel, which is the first time I've finished one of those for a GL and quite frankly, the translation wasn't that great but the story still came through. I won't refer to it much and will base this on the show as I think they've done a fantastic job with the adaptation and fingers crossed continue to do so.
Where in most GLs the core conflict is external. The main couple can't be in love typically due to familial/cultural pressure or a man interfering (that still exists to an extent here) the main conflict in Affair is simply that Wan and Pleng love each other too much but they do so in different ways.
When we meet Wan and Pleng they're 17 years old and have spent their entire lives together. They're sisters but not and while Wan seems to have a social circle, Pleng really has no other friends outside of Wan. The spoiled rich girl and the maid's daughter. Couldn't be more different if they tried and yet by circumstance their lives are as intertwined as it gets.
At 17, they have different ideas for their futures. Pleng is musically talented, wins every contest and is financially set. She can live the life she wants. If she wants to be a musician then so be it. Her parents love and support her and there's no pressure. Wan on the other hand has an overbearing mother (and a resentful father), no prospects for her future but at least she has Pleng.
Despite her parents, Wan loves wholly and openly. She knows she loves Pleng and while she doesn't yet know it she does know that Pleng loves her too. I would argue that Wan truly knows herself, which is why she comes across as so self-assured in their younger years. She's slowly trying to guide Pleng to understand herself too.
Pleng, however, has never had to sit with her emotions in the same way. Take this as differences of personality, class and upbringing. Now that they're 17 and entering adulthood, Pleng has to start engaging with the world (and her emotions) rather than hiding behind the rich, insular lifestyle she's had up to this point.
As the idea of boyfriends comes up, Pleng starts to lash out. She's jealous, she's pushy but really she's just in love with her best friend and doesn't know it. Everything starts happening too fast. Wan meets a boy at an art gallery, Aunt Wi pushes Pleng to help Wan get with Ek, Pleng's dad is extremely stressed and she doesn't know to what extent and throughout that Pleng is dealing with her feelings that for some reason just won't go away. Feelings that Wan keeps bringing up in her over and over.
Pleng is a mess. She doesn't know how to connect with her peers, she knows something is wrong with her dad, she sees that Wan is seemingly moving forward in a way that she's not (dating a boy) and whether she realizes it she continues to isolate herself.
From Wan's perspective she couldn't care less about dating Ek. She's already completely devoted to Pleng (in ways that Pleng doesn't even know).
They're 17, hormonal, gay, and incapable of seeing each other's perspective. Wan wants Pleng to let her in. Pleng can't help but push everyone away.
As soon as Pleng starts to really come to terms with her feelings about Wan. That's when everything falls apart. Her dad kills himself, her mom goes into cardiac arrest, all of her family's assets are seized and she's now orphaned and staying with Wan's parents who clearly and vocally have no space for her. Pleng who was already struggling to find her footing before that fateful night now has absolutely nothing to stand on.
The break point is when Pleng finds out about Wan's academic achievements and that Wan had been hiding that truth about herself their entire lives. Wan has always been intelligent and capable but hidden herself behind a veil of ineptitude. Wan in loving Pleng puts her on a pedestal to her own detriment. She has no issue blighting her own light so that Pleng can shine but from the moment we meet 17 year old Pleng in the show we see her pushing Wan to better herself. Wan thinks loving Pleng means her own success doesn't matter whereas Pleng loves Wan and all of her potential.
They both love each selflessly but while Wan would burn the whole world to keep Pleng warm, Pleng loves Wan despite her own existence. So when Pleng leaves she writes,
"Your parents will feel at ease. And you'll finally get to live your life as your true self... I know you love me but I also want you to love yourself. And be proud of who you are."
For Pleng, her leaving is the ultimate way to show her love to Wan. A clean break. She runs away so Wan can thrive but here's the thing Wan needs Pleng to keep her grounded. Pleng does too but she can't see it at this point. Too much has happened and so, in her desperation she removes herself. She is her father's daughter after all.
So when 13 years pass and Wan has spent that entire time holding on to whatever she can to keep herself close to Pleng (becoming a doctor, riding a bike to work, marrying Ek, separating herself from her parents); Pleng has become a ghost of herself. Wan has imbued herself with all the things she thinks/knows Pleng would like while Pleng is stuck in a cycle that she can't get out of: play music, make a bit of money, pay rent, rest, repeat.
Pleng never reaches out to Wan because why would she? Her loving Wan means staying away and on top of that there's a sense of shame of what her life has become.
So when they finally meet again it's too much. Wan is successful but she's still clearly in love with Pleng and while it was all Wan's doing, in a way her success is a direct result of Pleng's influence. In removing herself, Pleng slowly begins to realize not just that she took Wan's smile with her but the why and how. Wan's changed and devoid of the joy and innocence that Pleng loved most.
They slowly fall back into their natural rhythms but Pleng still can't accept her own presence in Wan's life. Wan is back to pushing (albeit more aggressively then before - time was wasted) and in pushing Pleng, Pleng pushes back. If they take their relationship that one step further, what then? What if it falls apart? Why not just stay in a cycle where nothing shifts? What if there's another ringing shot in the distance and everything changes in a moment?
If there's one core trauma to Pleng as a character it's her desperation to not feel like a burden to anyone. Especially Wan. And then she finds out that Wan (though separated) is still married to Ek and she can't accept that she could have ruined Wan's potential happiness. Not understanding that Pleng herself is Wan's happiness. Pleng feels like a disruption because at the root of it the thing she wanted above all for Wan, "I also want you to love yourself. And be proud of who you are" is not something that Pleng accepts for herself.
I'll leave it there and hope the show navigates the situations that are about to come as well as they have so far but kudos as Affair manages to oh so gracefully skirt what could otherwise be an incredibly toxic relationship. Somehow they manage to give these two characters so much grace despite their flaws. And truly that's also a huge credit to Sonya and Lookmhee's abilities.
It's chaotic and messy but in coming back together these two might just realize that's how they both best shine.
#affair the series#affair#wanpleng#wan x pleng#thai gl#sonya saranphat#lookmhee punyapat#show analysis#I didn't even touch on it but these two are truly just stunning#And their acting abilities are incredible#Also this show is so wonderfully crafted despite its overuse of music cues#and there's no silly sound effects#if you haven't watched yet you really should#though don't know why anyone would have read all this otherwise#in fact#thailand is the gift that keeps on giving

SEEDS Security Codes and Why They Matter
So, I've been thinking about one of the details in Trigun: Stampede that was not present in either '98 or the manga. In '98, Knives just hacking into the SEEDS codes was left as-is. He walked up to Captain Joey and shot him and apparently took his pilot's seat. Did the Captain have the navigation open at the time? Was it closed and Knives had to do some hacking? Anyway, there, he did it on his own. Now, in Trigun Maximum, which treats Vash and Knives' childhood differently (just Rem there raising them), there is a foreshadowing of what is to come. In Volume 6, Rem is depicted waking up to an emergency signal in the middle of her sleeping-hours. (Aw, she sleeps in her regular clothes, mom-jeans and all...). Panicked, she yells at Knives for him and Vash to lock themselves in their rooms and not to come out or speak up for ANY reason, even if they hear voices outside. She tries to handle the situation, but it goes from bad to worse and the automatic crew-wakening protocol goes into effect, which she is very concerned about (for reasons that we who have read the manga know about)!
In the beginning of Volume 7 the crew wakes up, there's a situation-update. The ships are going off-course and will collide if things are not corrected. They're working through the issues and suddenly, there's an unknown factor that kicks in to correct the course. Rem then gets the crew all settled back in again for nappy-time... And proceeds immediately to Vash and Knives, where she scolds Knives with (Rem's angry mom-face, my beloved)! Knives was playing around with the ship codes and systems. He'd apparently hacked his way into the system and was curious about SEEDS' functions. (One would assume that Rem changed some of the codes after this, but I bet they were in some kind of hacking-war, with her trying to stay one step above curious Plant-twins). Knives did not mean to nearly cause a catastrophe, but this shows that he can and is a foreshadowing to when he DOES mean to cause one later. Now, in Trigun Stampede, it is stated by Nai / Knives that Vash gave him the ship-codes, also that he spent a lot of time and trouble changing the codes for every human ship. (The manga lists the ship they are born on as the Mothership, presumably guiding the entire fleet, in Stampede, it is just Ship 5, which implies multiple guides with multiple navigators). I am wondering where Studio Orange is going with this. Will it be a situation like the manga where the kids are just playing around? Little prank-war with Rem? Maybe Vash is sharing a ship code innocently, as part of their games? Or is it going to be darker, more sinister? I wonder if Vash was originally of the thought of "maybe we need to crash the ships and kill all humans (except Rem) because they're scary and dangerous because of what happened to Tesla" and then had a change of heart and backed out of it? - I can see that happening... him having his cathartic alone-time with Rem as in the manga and then talking things out with Nai and thinking that they weren't going to go through with it. And then Nai betrays him. I've been wondering about the guilt Vash carries over the Big Fall in Stampede. Is it an unnecessary, undue guilt like he seems to have about a lot of things? Or is there a guilt born from "I had originally planned disaster / we had originally planned disaster" and it came true even after he'd backed out? It's just that... in both '98 and Maximum, he does carry his cross (that is not Wolfwood's), but he seems to feel less specifically guilty over this (the Big Fall). He's really more like "Knives, how could you do this to everyone / Rem?!" He just seems more guilt-ridden in Stampede than in the other media and I am wondering if there is a dark secret behind it. I can see it going either way.

EVERY Miracle Chime Supercut
This is every miracle chime (and some related clips) I caught in Good Omens Season 2. May this fuel your needs to confirm or disprove whatever theories your beautiful minds may create. Enjoy!
Disclaimers, tags, and my rambles thoughts under the cut.
The disclaimer is that this contains mostly miracles, but I also included what I believe to be relevant moments of magic casting or character(s) dis/appearing. There are many moments such as beings casting lightning (with their own sounds to boot!) that have not been included due to time constraints, video size constraints, or relevancy to the point of the video.
If you'd like to know what interested me in making this, check out this other post of mine.
If there's anything I missed, please let me know and I'll update this video. Due note that this will only be expanded to miracle sounds in season 2. If enough people bug me about non-miracle sounds, I might make another supercut if the reason is interesting enough. I may even be convinced to make a S1 miracle chime supercut to compare the two seasons.
Tagging the interested, but please tag away in the notes and reblogs: @noneorother, @indigovigilance, @embracing-the-ineffable, @on-till-morning
Lastly, my thoughts: I really don't want to plant my theory seeds in anyone's head, but here what I've noticed:
1) Crowley's miracle sounds are very different at distinct points and I've had fun thinking about the why. 2) You want proof that Az enchanted all humans in his little ball? Listen to that chandelier. 3) In my last post, many people pointed out that the last angelic chime could be the metaturd calling the elevator, but to my ears, it sound similar to when Az's tiny miracle gets blocked in his magic act. I mean... it could just be Metatron's very specific miracle chime, sure, but then what does that mean for the miracle blocker? Portable Metatron powers in a simple punch-out card? Wait, actually... that'd be kinda fun. 4) I could be wrong about all of this and none of this matters. Something, something, pickled red herrings... but that's what makes this so fun. :)
Anyway, I've got a bag of popcorn in the microwave now. I can't wait to see what you all find or come up with.

I should probably just avoid fandom discourse altogether but the mischaracterization of Toshiro is really starting to get to me (and this isn't a case of "my poor precious blorbo I'm the only one who understands you" because tbh I don't think he's in the top five of my dunmeshi faves)
The main issue comes from his relationships with Falin and with Laios. "He loves Falin for everything he hates Laios for." No, wrong. Does he maybe romanticize Falin a bit as a manic pixie girl with a refreshingly original personality and interests? Sure, yeah, but the thing is, he doesn't hate Laios for his monster special interest.
One thing Laios and Falin don't have in common is their way of expressing themselves. While Laios is very outspoken and talkative, Falin tends to be more quiet and reserved. Just think about the flashback to magic school when she first met Marcille. If that had been Laios, he would've also been the kid who shows up late covered in dirt from chasing grasshoppers, but he wouldn't have kept to himself like Falin did until Marcille approached her. He would've gone around the room saying, "Hi, I'm Laios, let me tell you about my project and why it's weird."
That's why Toshiro is upset/annoyed/envious around Laios ("hate" is the wrong word to describe their relationship methinks). He finds him abrasive and insistent and blind to the hints that maybe he should shut the fuck up for a second please.
#things not covered in this post bc i didn't want it to become infinite:#Laios isn't in the wrong for being the way he is and not getting social cues#Toshiro is not in the wrong for not having the tools to express his annoyance in ways that aren't social cues. or punching.#and there's probably an analysis to be made as to WHY Laios and Falin express themselves different in relation with their upbringing#but i got tired of sitting on the toilet writing this and i really need to take a shower now bye#dungeon meshi#dunmeshi#laios touden#falin touden#toshiro nakamoto#discourse#dunmeshi analysis#mogologue

John Watson from BBC Sherlock: Oh, I know what those are! I just don't care. :)
John Watson from Sherlock & co: I know some of them, and I do care, it's just that I can't get over my profound social anxiety. I want to make friends, so please help before I say something really weird and make you all cringe. 🥲

I wanna know if you have any thoughts on Valka and Sroicks parenting and how that affects hiccup? Because I'm loving so much of your content rn, especially your drawings!! But when I see stuff like Tgirl Hiccup while I think they would be supportive, I don't think they would be ... the best because their not really the best. Like ofc they tried even Val when she came back, but it doesn't and won't ever make up for everything else it's so complicated, and nuisanced would love to hear your thoughts!!
Im going to break this post into addressing stoick and valka separately because valka is such a non-entity in hiccup and stoick’s familial life. valka’s section will be underneath the ‘read more’
But I definitely agree! Unfortunately for Hiccup (and also not to project ijbol), it’s so hard because stoick’s best isn’t enough. Oh, stoick tries! He tries so hard — between the movies and the shows, he so clearly cares for his son. But he can never be just Hiccup’s dad; Stoick is the Chief of Berk before he’s Hiccup’s father, and both he and Hiccup know that. Hiccup grows up self sufficient and is used to a lonely home. The kind of free reign that he gets (and the resulting knee-jerk reaction he has to any kind of responsibility after 15 years of said free reign) doesn’t make for great conditions to cultivate a healthy, loving, traditional parental relationship
Still — i think stoick is more supportive than we give him credit for, at least going off the RoB/DoB characterizations. (Again, I haven’t finished watching RTTE, so Im not gonna speak for anything there.) When Hiccup makes moves for more freedom and responsibility, even as early as s01e01 “How to Start a Dragon Academy”, Stoick works with Hiccup to grant him that freedom. He makes attempts to connect to his son, albeit misguided and inevitably circling back to his own interests/role as the chief of Berk and not just Hiccup’s dad. For example, s01e07 “How to Pick your Dragon” shows Stoick ending up listening to Hiccup about getting a dragon, even though he mostly gets a dragon because it further suits his interests as a chief, which he realizes on the flight Toothless and Hiccup take him on. Which also leads to the core conflict of the episode! Because Stoick’s attempts to understand Hiccup are ultimately rooted in his own narrow perception of the world, that there is a Right way and Wrong way to do things, and Hiccup’s way is most definitely not the right way.
But Stoick listens. Over time, he picks up the signs when his child is frustrated and genuinely asks how he can help (s02e15 “A Tale of Two Dragons” 3 options talk). And after the events of the first movie, Stoick makes more attempts to involve Hiccup in his going-ons, such as the portrait of the chief’s family or contacting Johann to find a beloved childhood plushie. So i think stoick tries, and his best isn’t enough, so thank god hiccup isn’t dependent on only stoick and the both of them know this. And just because the both of them know this doesn’t mean that stoick doesn’t try to improve their relationship at all. In the end, he’s just really set in his own ways and his own traditions.
So in a world where Hiccup is trans, I do think Stoick is supportive no matter what direction Hiccup ends up going. Is he confused? Yes, always, because there isn’t a very established tradition even if Berk does have a history of trans folk. I think stoick has to try really really hard, and he messes up a lot in the beginning. Like, you know when your parents are trans affirming in a really weird and even insulting way? That happens a lot for Hiccup and Stoick. But they work together and Stoick works to try and get on Hiccup’s level, whether that means sending terror-mail to Johann to inquire about trans literature or gender-affirming clothes or dialing Gothi to move Hiccup’s t/e prescription to the front of the line.
……..argh, Valka.
Of course Valka tried when she came back, but the conscious decision to stay away for twenty years and miss some of the most important milestones in your child’s life says a lot, and I think Hiccup also knows that. Especially because of how similar they are, even though Valka would immediately accept and adore and absolutely love Hiccup and all his Hiccup-ness right off the bat… I think he’s aware of how different and better his life could’ve been with Valka’s understanding presence. In the end, one parent stayed and tried their best. And one didn’t really try at all, not until they reconnected again.
And like! I dont think Valka and Hiccup would ever be as close as Stoick and Hiccup were. Like it is one thing to idolize your parent in absentia and build up this idealistic wholesome perfect image of who they are, getting your characterization from their partner who never got over them even after 20 years. And it is another thing to meet that parent and realize… wow! They also don’t measure up to what I needed them to be as a child.
And so for all of Valka’s understanding, for all of the easiness it is for Valka to understand Hiccup, especially in a world where Hiccup is trans — it’s not Valka who had to deal with the bureaucracy of Hiccup’s gender change, nor aided in the social transition for people Hiccup has spent his entire life with. It’s not Valka who asked uncertain, blunt and somewhat invasive questions about Hiccup’s new identity, or found weird and strange ways to support it. It’s not Valka who would’ve gotten an entirely new wardrobe commissioned or talked to Gothi about medical transition.
Like, I think Valka tries, and it’s easy for her to understand the idea and support Hiccup. But i dont think she’d ever be Hiccup’s first choice when it comes to questions about who s/he is, not when there are people who stayed and tried much harder than her, and know far more about Hiccup than she ever did and maybe will.
#asks#anonymous#httyd#how to train your dragon#thank you for the ask! i hope you dont mind the veryyyyy lengthy response lol#oddly enough i just kept on thinking about how autistic the entire haddock family is#hiccup and valka? total no-brainer#stoick is one of those people where years later hiccup will text the dragon rider gc going#by thor’s hammer my father is neurodivergent but he would die laughing at the idea of getting diagnosed#cue snotlout emphasizing the text#also valka is a fun character but there is relatively little content i can dredge up about her#than i can stoick#so apologies for the disparity in thought and analysis… argh#trans hiccup#i talk little about berk being fantasy transphobic btw because of a couple of reasons#I personally am really tired of involving fantasy transphobia when i already deal with it enough irl#and in a society where your warrior strength defines whether you live or die#i doubt they’re that concerned about what’s in your pants at all#hiccup being an outcast reads more to me about an otherness constructed based on the social concept of disability#even though i thoroughly enjoy queer readings of the series as well#em.txt

Okay so maybe this is going to be controversial but I don’t think Percy was Oblivious to Annabeth liking him. I think he knew, or at least picked up on some of the vibes.
I have a few reasons for this.
Percy isn’t shown to be oblivious to people hinting at having romantic interests in others. Lots of people have pointed out that Percy has no problems noticing when people have a crush on someone who isn’t him, so I’m not going to reiterate that. But he also isn’t shown to be oblivious to people having a crush on him. Of the four people who know had a crush on Percy at some point, two of them he knew about, and the other two he had reasons to view as not romantic options. Let’s go through them.
*Rachel- Percy knew she had a crush (or something resembling a crush) on him. After she asks him for a kiss in The Last Olympian, he even admits that he has occasionally thought about her romantically too. And yes, he is awkward in this moment but it doesn’t feel to me like he’s surprised to learn that Rachel might like him. His awkward reaction here reads more to me like he doesn’t know how to deny her request without hurting her, something he doesn’t want to do because he does care about her. He’s an awkward teenager learning how to navigate romantic feelings for the first time. Let him be awkward.
And before this moment, we aren’t shown any instances of Rachel crushing on Percy. In The Titan’s Curse, she saves him and in The Battle of the Labyrinth she’s just trying to establish a friendship with him. It is worth noting that Annabeth in her jealousy views this last bit as potentially romantic (you know, because she’s an awkward teenager figuring out romance too; let her be awkward.) But to me, Rachel’s actions in The Battle of the Labyrinth read more as “I want to be friends with this guy I met at the Hoover Dam once and who knows what’s going on.”
*Calypso- This one I get why Percy never saw her as a person who might have romantic feelings for him. To start with, she is a goddess and and he is a fourteen year old kid when they first meet. Even ignoring Percy’s insecurities and self esteem issues, there is a massive age, power, and social status gap between them. There is no reason for Percy to think she might be into him. You could argue that Percy is aware that gods and mortals have relationships because, hello, he exists, but I need to bring up that every god/mortal relationship that Percy would have been aware of up to this point resulted in a demigod. It means to me that it is likely that Percy would have viewed god/mortal relationships as mostly sexual with a potential romantic element. So why would he think a goddess like Calypso would have a crush on fourteen year old him?
*Nico- Again makes sense to me why Percy didn’t notice this. First, heteronormativity. Most people, even queer people, tend to assume straight until proven otherwise. I don’t see why Percy would be different.
Secondly, age gap. Percy throughout the main series views Nico more like a little brother or a small child who looks up to you. Most people wouldn’t even entertain the thought of a romantic relationship with someone they view as so much younger than them. This reads less oblivious to me than “why would I, a teenager, date/romantically lead on a ten/eleven/twelve year old.”
Annabeth- Percy does repeatedly notice Annabeth’s romantic advances throughout the PJO books. He hugs her when she gestures for it in The Battle of the Labyrinth. He references both his and her crush multiple times in The Bronze Dragon short story. He asks Beckendorf not to mention Rachel hitting on him to Annabeth because he knows how she feels about him. He asks her for a good luck kiss in reference to the Mount St. Helen’s kiss in The Last Olympian. He even tries to ask her out at least once, if not twice, during The Titan’s Curse (at the beginning when they’re dancing, and at the end, before Athena corners him and expresses her disapproval of their relationship.) Percy was aware that Annabeth liked him for years.
Does he have moments where he doesn’t pick up on every romantic cue or moment of jealousy? Yes. But, again, he is an awkward teenager navigating romantic relationships for the first time. Also, he’s in the middle of a war and has the fate of the world on his shoulders. He has more than enough reasons to miss a few things. Especially since Annabeth misreads his feelings too.
I already mentioned the thing with Rachel, but Percy admits that he was jealous of Annabeth and Luke’s relationship. Annabeth seems to view Percy’s jealousy as just hate for Luke as a person, which it partially is, but Percy is also jealous that Annabeth has a crush on Luke. (Side note: I don’t think Luke ever had a crush on Annabeth. I think he was just manipulating her feelings so she would see him in a better light.) If Percy is oblivious then so is Annabeth.
Annabeth’s jealousy does cloud her ability to notice that when people express romantic interest in Percy, he always chooses Annabeth over them. Percy has never seen anyone else whom he would choose romantically over Annabeth. But Annabeth, the awkward teenager with abandonment issues, doesn’t notice that. That’s not on Percy.
So, if Percy knew Annabeth liked him as much as he liked her, why didn’t he ask her out sooner? In my opinion, various reasons. They’re in a war with a prophecy hanging over their heads. They are both jealous of people they view as potential romantic rivals. And, what seems to be the biggest reason to me, Percy was afraid of what Athena might do. Remember, in The Titan’s Curse when Percy first expresses interest in asking Annabeth out, Athena steps in and states that she disapproves of any relationship he might have with her daughter. In that same conversation, Percy thinks that it would be terrifying to have Athena as an enemy. And when Percy does ask Annabeth out it is shortly after Athena admits that she might have been wrong about his relationship with her daughter, and that she is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
In short, I think Percy did notice when people had feelings for him, and those he didn’t he had good reasons for not noticing. The reason he didn’t act on this knowledge has more to do with him being an awkward teenager who is still learning how to express his feelings and him being afraid of his crush’s mom.

So I started rewatching Good Omens 2 and realised something during the opening scene. Crowley is clearly proud of the universe he’s helped design and of all those stars and galaxies. And he’s heartbroken when he finds out that not only will something he built to grow and last a million years only be allowed to exist for 6000, but that the humans will be placed somewhere where they won’t even have a good view of the stars! He was upset enough to go to God and ask if they might be mistaken, which would eventually lead to his sauntering vaguely downwards.
And yet, despite all this, within those 6000 years they were allotted, the humans were still fascinated with the parts of the universe they could see, curious enough that they managed to slowly work out how it moved and expanded, what those stars were made of, cobble together rockets to travel to the one bit they could reach (the moon), and sent out satellites and robots to take pictures and collect samples of the bits they couldn’t reach. Despite everything and all Crowley’s fears that all his efforts were wasted and would never be admired as he hoped they would, the humans still found a way to see those stars and galaxies.
This must have been the equivalent of someone sending kudos and making fan art to Crowley.
No wonder he’s so fond of the humans

i just realized why steph never feels like a fully fledged robin to me- and it's not because bruce doesn't share his identity with her.
dick never acknowledges steph as robin, he never talks to her about being robin, there isn't any moment where dick gives his approval to steph while steph is robin, on panel.
i'm not making any claims as to whether he would or would not have, there might be a piece of dialogue or internal monologue somewhere where he thinks about it, idk. and in his defense, he was dealing with...a lot while steph was batgirl for 72 days. maybe he wanted to make the time but couldn't.
to me, that stamp of approval from dick is what solidifies the individual as robin. because that's his mantle. it's more than just a superhero persona. it's so much more.
idk, maybe it's silly. and i'm not trying to claim steph wasn't robin- she was. but i've finally figured out why, despite enjoying her very brief time in the traffic light colors, i never mentally think of steph as a robin
#seeley's robins mini does not solve this problem for me#that mini creates problems for me#i have a lot of gripes about how robin!steph was handled#idk if this is one#but it was def an ah-ha moment#stephanie brown#robin#dick grayson#dc robin#dc comics#cue analysis

thinking lots about the dsmp finale and one thought that keeps popping up is 'did c!dream have empathy for c!tommy' in it, there are scenes that hint at it, but its difficult to tell.
saying 'I am (the villain), I tortured you" - very well could just be him stating a fact
giving c!tommy the l'manberg picture after saying he wanted simpler times - him recognizing that l'manberg was a simple time, potentially realising c!tommys perspective to a degree
taking off his helmet as c!tommy requested - letting them mutually have an understanding
by the end of it, abruptly stops climbing up and instead of trying to escape, he looks at c!tommy - could be just to hear what c!tommy meant, but one could interpret differently
#dsmp finale#lol#i saw like one tweet that was talking about whether cdream was empathetic or at the very least sympathetic towards ctommy#and now im so curious cuz I just do not know#he definitely understood his perspective but that doesn't mean empathy#primeboys#did he show remorse#did he feel remorse for the actions he did to cTommy#its hard to tell#at least for me its hard to tell I am not the best at media analysis and reading tone and social cues so oof#im so hyperfixated bruh

this might be silly... the actress in the new black mirror teaser, she reminds me of Sabrina
Not silly at all, Anon! I remember seeing a story post that Ben Barnes would be having a little cameo in the episode some time back and it was a picture of him with Salma Hayek as Joan. I definitely went: "Eh, Sabrina kinda hair right there.". :D
Though I would personally consider the actress' hair more bleached blonde (without tweaking the coloring), where Sabrina's is gray. But yes, the vibes are there. <3 The "fuck" scene sends me too, poor girl is so done with everything. :D
The trailer also reminded me of a snippet prompt idea I never get around to writing: how if John ever sat down to watch anything with Sabrina, she would either pick a drama or a true crime/mystery show or anything to do with detective work essentially, and early in she'd always figure out who has done the crime, what has happened, etc, to the point he would be like: "Can I watch this and not get spoilers? You've seen it already, haven't you, Deputy?"
Meanwhile, he'd vote for them to watch a horror movie and wouldn't stop complaining how the kills look fake, the blood looks fake, the gore isn't gory enough, etc. AND don't get me started on law shows, and how he'd scream at the TV then. The only middle ground for them at the end would be to watch a cartoon or something. :D
#ty for the ask <3#side note: absolutely love when y'all send me “this reminded me of...”#*cue the warm & fuzzy feeling that people are thinking of my agents of chaos* <3#movie nights with Sabrina and John...#some random lore because the ask reminded me of something :D#mygifs#oc: sabrina donovan#black mirror#wip: in hope of tomorrow#character reference#character analysis#ship: the diviner and the baptist#john x sabrina#myedits#fc5 ocs#fc5 deputy#far cry 5 oc#far cry 5 deputy#ocs
