Xe hears a tune, a tune it's been a long long time since xe heard it. It's their favorite song if xe inspect the inside they would find an incredibly intricate scene, with almost 50 figurine with way too much detail for their size. In the center is a ballerina spinning in place. Behind the ballerina on the inside of the lid is a message almost too small and the engraving almost too light to read.
"A gift from the god of crafts, music, and madness. The Bard. No one should be without a good song and don't worry about my title this is one of my few gifts without the last bit"
[The Cryptkeeper lets the song play to the end. They take the box, closing it carefully and setting it somewhere out of reach of customers. They seem happy.]

My birth mother used to run "Tales from the Crypt" of HBO enough when I was a toddler enough that I distinctively remember being absolutely terrified of the Cryptkeeper because I didn't under what a fourth-wall was and thought he could see me through the TV somehow, and this was before I learned how to work the TV dials and what channels were Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. When Fox Family ((now known as FreeForm)) got syndication rights to TFTC in '96 or '97, they'd run the entire intro as a commercial in midday and my mother thought it was pretty funny that I'd literally bury my head in the couch cushions to not see it. I think she didn't care what Darkwing had in its content matter, because she was the one running tapes (including homemade ones) enough that my first word was an attempt to say "Darkwing", lol. 馃憖
I think the issue these days is that our generation has sort of decided to not let the younger generation go through the same potentially traumatic events we did, which also boils down to "This freaking episode scared me for weeks." and "My cousin lost an eye playing with a Sky Dancer toy, so my kid isn't going to play with these kinds of toys." or "Holy geeze, these things have questionable chemicals and I used to chew on them, my kids are getting safe all organic toys."
Which is a good idea in theory, and I'm all for making things better for the next generation, but like... Toys in particular have become sanitized and boring unless it's some kind of app connected game experience or electronic. You barely see little tank toys with plastic missiles now, or dinosaurs with battle action that pops off pieces to expose the inner muscles as scars, or dolls that eat and then poop thier diapers, or toys that let us record our voices to warp the audio and we abuse that power between our friends by saying the most hilarious stuff we don't want our parents to say... Heck, my Mom, who is actually my biological grandma, and she grew up in the 50s and 60s, has told me about how her siblings and her would have things like actual power tools toys sized for small hands that cut real wood or little working clothes irons for pretending and learning how to handle them safely with thier parents around, or that her kids from the 70s and 80s had things like toy making sets that melted molten metal to be poured on a plate to make figurines to keep... That's pretty hardcore, and I'm sure those generations have people who have literally lost an eye playing with things wrong. 馃憖
Like, yeah, definitely don't give this stuff to a baby, but yes, the newer generations are different than us and while I can appreciate that more care is being put into taking care of special needs than it was when I was that age, I still think it's a little disappointing that today's kids won't know the fear and mystery of your friend's cousin's bestie's uncle's sister's kid who apparently had thier hand eaten by an Easy Bake Oven because they didn't read the directions or whatever story the adults told us to be safe.
Oh my God, I just got a great new headcanon, on that subject of QuackerJack's wild youth: How about after he gets it together for a while, and has been having enough success as a toy maker, since he's probably getting well off with funds at that point, that QuackerJack is the guy behind the Duck-verse version of those 80s and early 90s PSAs for kids about Saying No, Stranger Danger and all that??
Like, imagine pre-cracked QuackerJack, hosting a few of those commercials, and the remnants of those are still on some VHS tapes as pack-in commercials, and the Fearsome come across those.
"Oh hey, is that you??"
"Yeah, this is an old thing I did in the 80s for the kids, y'know. Gosh, look at my feathers, I look like I didn't let the 70s die with disco. Oof."
"I think it looks cute."
"... Whu-what??"
"Nothing!"
I've heard rumors this scene was edited for syndication for later airings, but I just looked at my old files for the Toon Disney 2001-2004 run ((indicated by the style of channel in the corner)), as seen in comparison here, and this remains intact there at least, so I dunno when it was supposedly pulled, but I do know that Toon Disney did edit episodes before, so I guess it depends in the climate at the time.
I know I usually just focus of QuackerJack content most of the time, but can we take a moment to acknowledge how freaking dark this sequence was?
One of many reasons this show wouldn't fly well in today's climate I think.
Like, holy cow, that's crazy that this exists
