As the sun dips below the horizon, Happy Tree Town undergoes a transformation. The streets buzz with the promise of adventure, and the air is charged with the energy of those who seek solace in the dark embrace of alternative subcultures.

Hi, this is Wanda Vixenova. I'm now in my way to meet one of this nightlife reunion points. Clubs aren't a new thing on this town, they are just as old as their inhabitants.

However, the place we are gonna be its quite recent! Today, our focus is on Cryptid Catacombs, a haven for those who find beauty in the macabre, and solace in the mysterious.

Amidst the cobblestone-like walls and flickering candlelights, these night dwellers have found a special dark place to share their passion for misfit synth music, slam poetry and really fancy clothing.

With just 3 years of existing, Cryptid Catacombs have positioned itself as one of the must-go places on thr night scene.

And who's better to tell us about it than the owner and their fellow crew themselves?

Happy Moth Times in Fallout 76

A story in three parts, told for no reason except that fandom is fucking awesome, and to thank @morpheusdreamt for bringing extra Rhack joy to my life.

Part 1: bae and I start playing Fallout 76 together, our characters designed as Rhys and Jack respectively, with the idea of recreating a different version of my Fallout Rhack AU in which (instead of one being in cryo and the other becoming a synth) they get to run around the post-apocalypse together.

Part 2: bae doesn't have the attention span to keep up with the game, leading to a recurring joke that Fallout76!Rhys must've run off somewhere into the Appalachian wilderness, and now my Fallout76!Jack gets to see even the rather elusive Mothman more often than his own boyfriend.

Part 3: after purchasing otherwise unrelated Rhys stickers from Morph's shop, I find a surprise in my parcel: a gorgeous sticker of Mothman!Rhys! (As inspired by Morph's Mothman AU: here are some beautiful drawings from it. )

Conclusion: bae and I decide that it must be fate, and officially declare that Fallout76!Rhys is actually the Mothman.

P.S. In the vein of continuing serendipity, I recently constructed a Helios-shaped base in an area that turned out to be frequented by said cryptid. Boyfriend likes to visit!

Bae Yijun, born in Incheon, South Korea, and was a very happy child with two loving parents. He was pretty outgoing all throughout his childhood and into his teen years, easily becoming one of the most popular kids in his school. He was well-liked and got along with the various "cliques", even the football team (who were actually chill despite what Netflix movies say.)

Ever since elementary school, Bae knew that he wanted to write stories. His mother used to compare him to Matilda from the Roald Dahl book because of how much he loved to read. As a teenager, he'd written hundreds of stories that he kept to himself. However, by this point, his parents had split up, and Bae wondered if having a career as an author was sustainable, especially if he was going to support his mother in the future. But he couldn't shake his passion for it and continued to write while working part-time at a grocery store.

During his last year at high school, something terrible happened that shifted his entire outlook on life and people. Bae found himself the target of a particularly nasty member of the IT club who had a grudge against him because he'd seen him speaking to his crush a few times and thought Bae was ruining his chances with her. He was good at using technology and decided to make pornographic deepfake pictures of Bae, which he then spread online and around the school in printed format. Of course, it blew up and everyone saw the pictures. While the teachers cooperated with the police to find out who was behind it (they eventually caught the perpetrator and he was punished) the damage was already done.

Bae learned that people didn't care if something was fake; people thrived off drama and scandals because it gave them a sense of feeling superior to the victim. That was when he decided that people weren't actually all that good, considering all of the people he thought were his friends turned on him. Everyone he got along with decided that it was best they didn't associate with him because his image was tarnished.

Fortunately, graduation was just around the corner and Bae was able to escape that hell. However, it didn't help with the depression that had fallen over his life like a big ugly cloud. While still living with his mother, he threw himself into his writing. He wrote everything. Angry stories where people were murdered, sad poems about disasters, and even songs about the suffocating pressures of life. He went to therapy thanks to his father paying for it — his parents had went through an amicable separation.

It was during this time that Bae started working on an novel series titled "Whispers of the Ashen Dawn" with the first book being called "A Lament for Humanity" that featured a world overrun with grotesque but intelligent creatures that tormented mankind. These creatures were unique from his mind, cryptid-like, but also never before seen in media. He lost himself in the world-building and lore, spending years developing his own fantasy world of horror and mystery. His main character, Seraphina, was a heroine who was resilient and bold despite her many shortcomings. Her motivation wasn't to save humanity from these creatures; it was to understand the creatures and uncover why they were doing what they did.

Several drafts later, Bae's novel was complete but he didn't publish it. Part of him didn't want to because that world was his and if he released it into the world, people would tarnish it by misunderstanding characters and storylines. They'd go on TikTok and film their dumb takes on it without really paying attention tot he story. So, the novel remained unread by anyone else for a few years.

When Bae was twenty-two, after years of being on medication, he felt more "normal". Not the same as what he was; he has developed agoraphobia, which is the fear of people. He doesn't think he'll ever go back to his old self but he doesn't want to, either. But one night, on a whim, he decided to look into publishers. He wasn't expecting anything to come of it but was curious to see if he could publish his book if he really wanted to. Well, it turned out that many publishers were interested and ended up fighting over who got the rights to publish his debut book. After a while of going back and forth, Bae decided on an up-and-coming publicist named Lenora Love who was based in Edinburgh, Scotland. He figured if she was taking a chance on a newbie like him, then he could also take a chance on her.

With his first novel published, it exploded in popularity in ways that nobody could have predicted. People loved it, saying that it was just what was needed in a landscape full of books that relied on cliches and tropes. Reviewers called it the next big thing and it really was. It continuously sold out faster than it could be printed with various countries reporting that it was hitting the No. 1 spot on bestseller lists. People wanted to know who the author was because Bae had used a pen name, Salem Beaumont for anonymity reasons.

While he was surprised and grateful that people liked his work, the sudden surge in popularity was terrifying. It reminded Bae of how easy it was to fall if you were at the top. However, the fact that he was unknown by anyone soothed that anxiety. That was exactly the reason he had came up with a pen name — he also didn't make any appearances or do interviews. The only communication he had was either through Lenora or through his website, which shared updates. This only added to his popularity because he became known as this mysterious author who nobody had ever met. There weren't even any possible leads about who he might be. Of course, there are many theories floating around online, with one being that he could be the anonymous artist known as Banksy. Bae finds that theory quite amusing since he cannot draw at all.

With the money he earned from the book (which was a lot) he made sure his mother and father were well taken care of before venturing out to find his own home. He wanted a quiet space for his mental health and for writing purposes. This led to him actually moving out of South Korea to the Scottish Highlands — he'd heard Lenora gush about Scotland as a country and decided he definitely wanted to go there. He was delighted to find a cosy cabin in a secluded part of woodland, about an hour's drive from the nearest town. This suited him perfectly and he's right by a little stream, too! He decorated the cabin Lovecraftian style, which really shows off Bae's gothic preference. When he needs to venture into town, he takes his car, but only goes out once a week to get groceries. He knows English quite well, so he doesn't struggle being in an English-speaking country. Not that he regularly interacts with anyone other than Lenora and retail employees.

Bae enjoys the "hermit" life, feeling free from the pressures of society. Although, he sometimes gets a bit lonely, especially when Lenora hasn't been around. He secretly wishes he could have a life partner but the thought of trying the dating scene makes him want to jump off a cliff, so he's accepted that he'll probably be single for the rest of his life. To keep him company, Bae has a Newfoundland dog called Yog (after Yog-Sothoth from Lovecraft mythos) and a California King snake called Ziggy due to his black and white pattern.

Currently, Bae is working on the second book in the Whispers of the Ashen Dawn series, titled The Bone Orchard Uprising.

Oh I'm good! Acquired a new mortal enemy, accidentally convinced a fair number of absolutely random people on tumblr that I don't believe in the moon landing, got reblogged onto at least three conspiracy theorist's blogs with a rickroll that explicitly mocks conspiracy theorists, made mac-n-cheese, got some follow up anon hate, probably from the person who called me a "libtard" yesterday, found a new favorite song on spotify about robots sending dick pics, did some stretches, and now i'm making some cheese sausage.
