I found something really funny on the Shantae wiki. An old Shantae twitter account, Shantae_WF, would post Shantae sending notes to Uncle Mimic about her adventures in the first game. The part where Shantae calls Bolo's granny attractive immediately made me think of Kakyoin and Okuyasu from JoJo, so I made a meme about it.

every time I talk about historical context with potc I need to put a disclaimer, but there’s something very haunting about the way Elizabeth’s, Will’s, and James’ personal journeys all coincide with the piracy act (which granted colonial governors the authority to hang pirates on site instead of sending them back to England). how many pirates must have made the Atlantic crossing in the opposite direction before them. how it’s not ultimately law and Englishness and Moral Righteousness that destroys the pirates, but commerce.

So I said I was cooking a pirate AU so here we are.

Captain Joseph Joestar, with hook hand. Had to be part 3 Joseph, it just felt wrong for it to be any other one. He's the captain of the Stardust Crusader, a ship that has done numerous trips around Asia and Africa in search of goods to smuggle. He lost his hand to a fight with a merman while trying to steal the red stone of Aja. He has years of experience and spent his youth sailing around Italy with his now deceased first mate Caesar. The part 2 scarf was absolutely necessary to me.

And Giorno Giovanna, captain of the Golden Wind, recently having taken over from the previous captain Bruno, who has taken a step back. He takes a keen interest in wildlife and plant life wherever he and his crew decide to moor up. His father is a notorious and bloodthirsty pirate captain that other pirates fear as if he were a legend.

I am gonna do more of these 100%. The crew for each ship is gonna be the party from their respective parts. Caesar I might make a ghost that hangs out with Joseph or a merman.
