I headcanon that Sunset’s reformed self is her natural self and how she was when she and flash first started going out, but then she changed into that bully she was and things went bad. To where she became crappy to even him.

I LOVE. Yeah I feel like Flash is the sort of guy who wouldn't date someone for popularity so he must have seen something good in Sunset when they dated. I like to think that her good parts were always there but the closer she got to realising her plan (the portal to Equestria reopening) the more consumed she got by her dark thoughts. Like, look at the evolution of her Fall Formal/Spring Fling Princess pictures

so like, Flash sees this weird lonely new girl who doesn't know what a car is, and he reaches out and connects with her, and Sunset clings to the affection that she believes Princess Celestia withheld from her, and suddenly slowly finds herself popular enough to win I'm guessing Spring Fling queen (photo one). And because she's never learned how to give love as well as just taking it, it goes to her head and reignites her desire for power, and then she wins Fall Formal and as her thirty-month stuck-as-a-human period suddenly has less time to go than time spent waiting already, she starts planning for what she'll do when the portal opens back up. And Flash can see her slowly losing herself to her worst impulses, getting crueler and colder and more callous, but he wants desperately to believe the girl he asked out is still in there, so he holds on and hopes. And then one day a few months after Sunset wins her second Spring Fling crown, when the portal is due to reopen in just a few weeks, Flash realises the girl he asked out is almost entirely gone, and maybe if he draws a line in the sand then she'll take a good hard look at herself in the mirror and see how much she's changed, but Sunset pushes through the breakup without a visible care, telling herself that Flash and his soft heart were holding her back, that she needs to be ruthless if she wants to take the throne of Equestria.

The worst part is that without Flash holding her back, Sunset's underhanded behaviour stops being sneaky and backstabbing, and she takes it as the go-ahead to start openly threatening people who piss her off. It doesn't matter if they crown her the princess of the Fall Formal - by the time it's supposed to happen, she'll already have the real crown and be back in Equestria with her teenage zombie army. Who needs affection when you can have all-encompassing corrupted alicorn power?

Thanks (?), I wondered if Pearl would follow in her mom’s footsteps as a fighter, especially after the war where it’s likely they helped against Andrias, so her fighting in a traveling gladiator show seemed to fit. Then her helping Polly carry frobot parts and Polly falling in love with a big, buff, elegant newt girl seemed funny and cute and ppl seemed to like it.

I think it’s a ‘jerks are worse than villains’ thing… Frieza was an evil alien conqueror (I guess, never watched DB) so you don’t expect him to be good. Simon is a human who bragged abt murdering a little girls mom figure bc he was jealous that Grace was paying her (a six year old!!) attention and and bc he couldn’t sort out his problems with Samantha from Tuba & Hazels relationship and Denizens in general.

I have a headcanon based on your Mario family post. Pop doesn’t even have it compute with him that he hurt Mario’s feelings, by the dragging his brother down with him line. As to pop, he loves Mario and Luigi with all his heart and says that “next to my wedding day, the night they were born was the greatest in my life.”

Agreed! After Mario's Dad said what he did at the dinner table, he just went back to eating his pasta like it was no big deal, and looks very confused when Mario storms off. The "what'd I say?" immediately after is so genuine. He had zero intention of hurting his son, he just wanted to make his concerns clear. He loves his kids, he just doesn't sugarcoat.

I feel sad that Pearl gave up her form, in a way I didn’t and don’t for rose, until the pd reveal, only because I feel bad that the diamonds can never reconcile with pd/rose. I think it’s because Pearl had more of a presence as a character. She made a noble sacrifice.

It is definitely a different feeling. We know so much more about Pearl and who she is from our own experiences with her, not just people telling us about her. We know her, we're connected to her... and we understand how she could make the choice she did in this story. And it's heartbreaking knowing all of that.

And also loves you have no idea. =) There's so much hidden depth I've barely scratched the surface of. Hoping to finish the final part of Lightning Round this week and then I can start on the first multi-episode arc. >:3c (Iolite not counted because she only had one real focus episode, this one genuinely spans several episodes and not just some asks)

he left because his father, Rika’s grandfather, threatened to make Rika and Rumiko suffer immeasurably if Rikuo didn’t return to him. Kodaro, the grandfather felt it a great stain that Rikuo had a child at the young age he was and chose to forgo “my plans for you.” To get married young and be with Rumiko and Rika/Ruki.

kodaro is an abusive tyrant who hated his illegitimate son Rikuo for existing and abused him constantly while also expecting him to be obedient.

Rikuo’s always kept tabs on his family through phone calls and stuff. Also, he and Rumiko never really signed divorce papers. Rikuo wanted to come back, after already for years feeling tortured by being away, after d reaper and especially locomon incidents.

I really like your take on this! It definitely adds "dept" to Ruki's chara as well and has the bitter-sweet taste~ also now I'm kinda picturing Ruki's dad as Shuuji from DigiSurvive, thanks (ง ื▿ ื)ว

I think so. Tailmon was a victim of physical and emotional abuse, and I think there was something that drew her to someone who could show her actual kindness.

well, to be fair, their pony equivalents were already friends before Twilight came along, and we don't know that story. Twilight just brought them closer together. It's probably a matter of "we're the same age and we get along", y'know? It's likely the same story with the humane 5 - they were friends already, but instead of Twilight coming along and making them best friends forever, they became unwitting pawns in Sunset's 'make sure no one has enough allies to stand up to me' chess game.

What was Teatime’s problem with Death anyway?

It's been a while since I read Hogfather, so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details loll But I imagine he wanted to get back at Susan for foiling his plans, and since Death was already there, why not take them both out? Teatime also mentioned early on that he's imagined ways of killing many personifications, not just the Hogfather and the Tooth Fairy, but Death as well (if I remember right, at least; it was something along those lines).

Heck I should probably get around to rereading Hogfather someday! I could use a refresher on the details XDD And I miss Discworld T_T
