Hey Writeblr D&D besties, new lore just dropped!

Check out the discord channel for the lore for Illyr, the setting for my Writeblr D&D campaign! I will be updating it bit by bit as I evaluate how much worldbuilding I want to give my players before session 0. i'm still stuck on the purgatories so here's a list of purgatory 2 moments simply off the top of my head that deserve to be remembered:

aimsey ducking all of axolotl team alone in a cave with literally half a heart

goose gang fucking descending on the raccoon base and absolutely wrecking shop

ethan crankgameplays clutching up for team panda during the capture the flag game by being the only one hanging out in the center and periodically checking the chests, earning them a shitton of flags and clutching multiple rounds

crow team's egg taking 0 damage

pac doxxing goose gang's egg in the last second

shelby shubble as the last member of her team online writing a letter to aimsey and sharing the world's most devastating ten minutes before her team was eliminated with one of the eye creatures (coco? i forgot lol)

badboyhalo absolutely fucking DEMOLISHING the battleship event on like 2 hours of sleep and a dream

wuant(?) stealing a tv from the battleship event and then playing portuguese ice age on it for the crows lmfao

tubbo djing for his team while waiting for the time for a goose gambit

theguill CRASHING THROUGH THE FUCKING CEILING of the raccoon team's hidey hole like the fucking kool aid man in a last effort to save his team and 4v1 or 5v1 ing team raccoon; he lost but that was such an epic fucking moment

theguill and etoiles pvping and each hyping the other's skills the entire time

seapeekay escaping cellbit and baghera and then stealing their boats and rocketing past to tease them about it; that shit was iconic

kenny going mad with power collecting sand on literally day 1

the english speaking squirrels taking actual physical notes on portuguese phrases (i think)

Tidbit Tuesday

oh boy oh boy this is scary! But Hi! I got tagged by the wonderful @divine-victory and they shared a WIP of their silly AU Where Eddie helps Buck plan their wedding but thinks he's helping planning Buck & Natalia's wedding so that's fun! In spirit of Buddie I'll share a Buddie snippet as well! This one is for my Buddie but they're dating before 3x18 AU That I'm writing for a friend.

 "Besides, who even told you about that?" "No one, the news played a clip of it, and I've been stuck here doing nothing while Chris is at school so... I can't believe you tried to do that for me." "I couldn't leave you down there Eds… You could've died..." "Buck, look at me, I'm okay. I'm here. I got out of the well with just Pneumonia." Eddie tries to placate him, big brown eyes looking up at him and as much as Buck wants to give into it he knows he can’t, not when this was Eddie’s life at stake and the chance of him not being here was very real for a bit there. "And you're lucky that it's just Pneumonia Eddie! It could've been worse..." "Buck..." "Who would've been there for Christopher? Huh?" Buck says seriously, but it sounds more like 'Who would've been there for me?' The way he says it. Which is a stupid question, because He would still have Maddie and The rest of the 118, but something about the idea of losing Eddie makes it feel like he's back in the tsunami. It makes him feel like he's drowning and can't get a breath of air because the waves keep crashing into him and dragging him under. He doesn't want to be back there… He wants to be able to breathe… "You would!" Eddie exclaims suddenly, and it makes Buck's brain screech to a halt, because what the hell is that supposed to mean? It takes a few seconds for his brain to boot back up after that exclamation but as soon it does, he asks "Wh- What do you mean by that Eds?" "If I die, You're going to be the one to take care of Chris. I have a meeting scheduled with an attorney next week..." "Eddie..." "I'm serious, Buck. There's no one I trust more with my kid than you. I've told you this before after the Tsunami, and the well made me realize that I should put it down on paper."

Now that I’ve started thinking about it, the Awoken are kind of like space Drow.

They both have a matriarchal society (although with the Awoken I think it’s because the male/female population ratio is 1/4 male 3/4 female or something like that. The Drow are also a lot stricter with gender roles)

They both live isolated from the rest of society. With the Awoken living in the Reef and the Drow in the Underdark.

Both are highly distrustful of outsiders (originally anyway, the Awoken eventually chilled out a little) and have a hatred of defectors.

Live for a long ass time. (I think Drow can live for ~750 years and Awoken age slow as fuck, Mara Sov was 19 during the Collapse, she’s gotta be 1000 at minimum. I don’t know what their actual life span is but I know they’re immortal in the Distributary)

Purple

Both have some really kickass architecture in their cities. (Menzoberranzan looks pretty as fuck, if not pretty creepy. And the Dreaming City is beautiful, and that’s just one city. It’s apparently nothing compared to cities in the Distributary)

There’s probably more but my D2 lore is kinda outdated and I’m still pretty new to D&D

I'm not going to tag this bc I can practically visualise the hornets nest I'm kicking, but I am starting to get annoyed by people who are complaining about inconsistencies in dragon age lore, when the inconsistences mostly seem to be happening in places where the old lore was severely problematic and written at the height of game of thrones grimdark fantasy market trends.

Ok, actual game stuff. Heres some concept sketches of the Crows, MJs tattoo parlor staff. All of them have had a tattoo done by MJ, it became a running joke that it was necessary to become an employee (the truth being that he is a fantastic artist and a stellar tattoo artist at that.)

The army wives were the first to be employed. They came from out of town looking for a nice small town lifestyle and were drawn to the parlor with the big quiet guy working all on his lonesome. They were hired pretty immediately when MJ heard they were out of town and knew nothing about him or his history. They sort of mom the big guy. Bringing him food and encouraging him to eat and rest.

Matt followed suit when he heard MJ had a parlor. Being an outcast in the town as well (albeit to a way lesser degree) he applied, wanting a steady job where he doesnt feel like hes being constantly judged and scrutinized. That and it gives him an outlet.

Eric was a begrudging hire. A fanatic that came into town chasing the whole cult story. Believing every horrid thing that the town says about MJ but with the complete opposite reaction to it all. MJ didnt know anything about that until he hired the guy. The blackmail isnt really blackmail. He basically threatens to spread more rumors of the parlor being a center for a new cult and that they were all brainwashed by MJ. And MJ would prefer if there was no gasoline put on that fire. So he tolerates him.

Delilah specializes in American traditional style Lenore specializes in Neo-traditional and watercolor style Matt specializes in New school, cyber sigilisim, and geometric style Eric specialize in Black work and dotwork MJ himself doesnt really have a specialty. Hes sort of a jack of trades.

So I'm going for the canon version of the lad because I can be highly critical of the man:

first of all, yes that is bald vlad. I am a photoshop god. second, I truly dig the insane packers fan aesthetic he got going on. I know people who are like that irl and they are truly something else. Packer fans are truly something else.

Vlad was an irredeemable character in the cartoon. Dude had the most yucky disposition towards Danny and it was :(. His aesthetic as a vampire man tho I can attest is some banger style. Danny needs a restraining order against this man while Vlad makes a sick as fuck clothes line that would make the goths go fucking wild.

We’re observing All Hallows’ Day here, which inspired my question: what do funerary rites look like in your setting(s)? Are there any additional traditions related to mourning?

So I'm doing some fresh worldbuidling for a D&D campaign I'm doing (for writeblr D&D, if you want to be added to the discord just ask!), so I'll be doing this for one of the countries therein.

Grynvyr is an icy, inhospitable country, and death comes swiftly to the unwary. Digging into the hard permafrost is not ideal, so burials go one of two ways: in seaside towns, bodies are lain in simple boats dowsed with accelerant and pushed out to sea before being ignited by a flaming arrow. In landlocked towns, they are still lain in boats, but these are placed on top of pyres and then burned. A common Grynvyrian belief holds that the ocean and the wind hold paths to the underworld, and when you pass, you either sail or swim to your final rest. It is considered a courtesy to release the soul by burning the body, and give the soul a boat to ease their journey. However the body is burned, the family or friends gather what ashes remain and cast them into the sea. Even landlocked families will travel hundreds of miles to reach the sea to do so. This is believed to release all remaining contact with the material plane, so that the dead can truly rest in peace.

i fucking hate d&d for making brienne harsher to go along with their idea of what a female warrior needs to be (removing traits they saw as being too “feminine”) and changing her dynamic with pod in ways that make her look like a bully rather than a protective mentor

I will never understand why Crow never got a secondary storyline in Tag Force 6 like Luna, Leo, and Akiza. Was Pearson’s student Crow not wacky or viable enough for a storyline?

Imagine if the storylines was just random events during his time learning under him. I would have loved to see some mundane days of Crow just learning from Pearson. Maybe a scene of Pearson saying how much he believes in Crow or Crow trying to impress his teacher. This could have been a chance for Crow to realize that even someone like him can even grow into something. That he too still has potential just like the kids. But alas…

The missed potential must be apart of all that favoritism that the writers have for Crow right?
