There are many reasons why you should learn how to cross stitch, making silly things for your friends is one of them

the thing no one tells you abt string-based crafts is that a single string will tie itself into a knot no reasonable or healthy or loving human being could ever even fathom. it will do this while it is just sitting there, without any interference from anything. you don’t even have to touch it. you just have to leave it alone for more than a minute and it will twist itself into some horrid eldritch clusterfuck of overs-and-unders and loops and twists that will take you a full hour to undo, if you’re lucky. and that’s just if a single string is involved. every additional string increases the knot’s complexity exponentially. god help you when you get past 10. and if you separate the plies in the process? just throw it out at that point tbh. you’re simply not getting that one back

Wanted to use up my stash of threads and try out stitching something not based on pixels, plus I wanted to surprise my friend with a late birthday gift. The colours are not perfect, but it was a really interesting project 💞
