Are there any OC ideas you have that didn't make the cut for any of the stories you've written or are planning to right? Like you want to write about the but due to the way the story's gone they just wouldn't fit.

There’s a lot actually and I’m glad someone asked. This will be long.

The scope of Rosebud got away from me really fast and then life happened. I still want to make a proper story. That’s why the one before it is called Rosebud Prep. This AU has the most cut stuff and spur of the moment additions. For example

I had an OC named Walter. He would’ve been the divorced kid of Neptune and Weiss; also he’s 14 and pretty strong due to both his parents having hereditary semblance. Essentially he still follows normal glyph rules, but when it comes to water and ice he doesn’t need Dust. I made a water bender.

Another OC in that au would be girl on Menagerie that was close with Kovu. She would be a Crosshares kid. Additionally, I wanted to write more about Carmine’s normal school experience since she does go to a regular public school but it never really seemed to fit. In a sense, she’s like a casual superhero who will show up late because she decided to stop a robbery.

Another thing I will actually circle back to but just haven’t yet is why is Carmine bad at school terrible with maps, doesn’t drive, and would rather tell Garnet a bedtime story than read one. Carmine is dyslexic and simply refuses to tell her friends because she finds it incredibly frustrating and embarrassing. Jaune knows and though she made him promise to tell nobody, he obviously told Ruby. Ruby doesn’t bring it up because she was the number one person Carmine didn’t want to know. Jaune helps her when he can but the girl is barely home and prioritizes other things.

I wanted to write a short story of Dustin growing up under Cinder and Neo but that seemed needlessly depressing and better left as moments to learn in the main story.

I think I’ve mentioned this before but originally I messed around with Valerie’s internal conflict stemming from the idea she wasn’t sure if she felt like a girl. But after a lot of reading and videos I decided I most likely wouldn’t be able to write such a topic with the necessary amount of care to the standard I would be okay with. It’s a touchy subject and I felt ill equipped.

Another idea I want to write is a Snowflakes sequel where the crew is on summer break and find themselves on a voyage to Vacou. It would explore the new dynamics the group have after Atlas and focus more on Veronica’s mental state and an b-plot with Eliza learning more about her mother.

For those interested in Lasting Embers, the sequel I’ve been actively posting lately has given two more OCs recently named Lilith and Marcus. Lilith was actually brought up in the original story and Marcus as an idea has been around just as long. Feels great to finally realize them.

I actually wanted to do more meaningful things with Yang and Adam during their mission but time constraints got in the way. Other than that I’ve mainly been able to set up a lot of what I want.

In the original story however, instead of Jael fighting those cult members in the desert, I had Adam come home already and the two of them went into town because she wanted to see the festival with him. Eventually she’d go off to get food and notice suspicious behavior; which leads into the cult fight and ends with her own the ropes before Adam shows up. It would be the first time she really sees how dangerous her father could be. I ultimately changed things because I wanted to introduce her older sister as well as keep the idea of Jael hearing/reading about who her father used to be but only seeing the kind dad he is now.

Premonition is more or less the same. I have an outline for a proper story that’s smaller scale than the others and more slice of life vibe. It’s mainly about Lucas and Serenity meeting and what happens when their unique situations of future and fate collide. I did want to do more random prompts but most of them are pretty redundant despite being cute.

I’m sure there’s more stuff I could add to this post but I’m blanking right now.

Weapon: Chai Tea, a satchel that is able to unravel to reveal a camera. Whilst a satchel, it is extremely compact and dense yet simultaneously very lightweight, meaning it’s a hard hitter but a light carrier. Whilst a camera, it has the capability to give off a bright flash that can temporarily daze opponents so he is able to take their Dust for his semblance.

Trivia: 

Cuivre has had his ears and hair pulled many times in his younger teen years when he started dying both gold. Although extremely disheartening at first, a few compliments from renewed White Fang members and cute peers cleared his mind almost immediately.

He is less than approving of the True Bloods, but the current Faunus Civil Rights Group (FCR) led by Ilia Amitola and Blake Belladonna have his full support. He is yet to attend protests since he’s not exactly the type to go to such large group gatherings, but that’s not dampened his voice.

His Australian accent and mannerisms are right from Velvet. However, Coco was the one to train him primarily and help engineer his weapon since it’s so similar to Gianduja. She also trained him alongside Atsuibane in hand-to-hand combat so he didn’t have to rely on his Sembalnce to give him a combat style. Through his impressive weapon handling and hard-hitter persona on the battlefield, Cuivre is extremely popular once he hits Beacon and really gets to shine.

Kusagi and Byakuren may as well be cousins to him. Every summer, the Adels head down to Kuroyuri to visit the Rens, and Cuivre always enjoys the time with his Uncle Fox and the Ren siblings.

He starts crushing on boys easily, much like his sister. At some point he has a crush on Amba Belladonna.

While at Beacon, he becomes very good friends with his teammate, Opal Grey. The two are extremely opposite in terms of social energy, but they seem to get along well enough that they spend every waking hour together despite not being partners.

Her semblance can be used for as little as mimicking a blade or as large as copying something to the scale of Crescent Rose. She has an extremely versatile fighting style that has allowed her to keep control over weapons she has encountered in the past and hopes to copy in the future, but this means that she cannot use the weapon the same way as the target would. Due to this semblance only being able to copy one weapon at a time, if she wishes to fall back on a previously used weapon she must “retag” it and become readjusted to using it with her fighting style.

Weapon: Frappe Latte, a small drone with tiny paper rabbit ears stapled onto the ‘head’. It serves as a distraction for her opponents so she can easily tag their weapons while they focus on the drone. It serves literally no other purpose.

Atsui ties her ears back along with her hair, since they’re a bit larger than usual for her age and they flop in front of her work more than she’d like. 

She’s very attached to what she makes and tinkers with to follow her instructions, so much so that people often mistake their programming and loyalty to her to be a highly advanced A.I., which it is not. Her Scroll can control them all but otherwise she has a manual controller from an old games system for each machine, because behind all the oil and grease, she’s still a kid who loves her games.

She’s a close friend of Amba. She initially met him when they were little kids. Accidentally ramming a modified toy plane into the back of his head and almost stepping on his tail ironically led to Atsui becoming a source for a lot of the Belladonna family’s shipped-in Dust and weapon mods. 

If Atsui had been a boy, her name would’ve been Seiko, meaning ‘steel manufacture’ in North Mistrali according to her Uncle Lie.

She’ll eat anything watermelon flavoured, but for a meal, nothing hits the spot like watermelon poke bowl with avocado, ginger, and iced tea for the side.

She used to have a big ol’ crush on Kaenneko, but that faded out by the time Atsui was 10. That doesn’t stop her from crushing on a lot of other girls in her early to mid teens, including a blue-haired monkey Faunus.

Painting and sketching were hobbies she learned to enjoy from Velvet, who has always encouraged her engineering. If she finds something she likes, Atsui will happily drop everything to draw it.

If Atsui is upset, everyone knows. Mostly from the impact crater in the nearest wall.

She is an Empath. Empaths can see Aura acutely to the point that they can differentiate near pefectly who people and animals are just from their Aura. This also means they can easily sense emotions. As a result, Atsui knows how to read a room and the vibes of everyone in said room.

Does NOT tolerate bullying. Each year, at the first sign of such nonsense she gives a dressing down to the entirety of the first years to tell them that they are better than this and head the whole thing off at the pass.

The whole ordeal is referred to as “Secondary Initiation” by teachers and upperclassmen. It gets results.

Dust professor and History & Legends of Remnant Teacher.

Reference to Sypha Belnades. Married to Tyber, obvs.

Always starts her classes off with a bang. Literally, she begins each year by detonating raw, unstable dust while standing perilously close.

Always excited, but can certainly match wits with Tyber.

Good at engaging students. Incredibly passionate about the subjects she teaches, to the point of occasionally rambling but her students are always drawn in.

Friday storytime is mandatory.

Probably the most competent teacher on staff.

Her Semblance is Elemental Immunity. She cannot be burnt or electrocuted, and is immune to hypothermia, making her great at handling Dust.

Her weapon isn’t known to the students, though they joke about it being her ever present robe/lab coat hybrid, which is always covered in slightly unstable Dust powder, and liable to spontaneously combust/freeze/spark at random.

Her uncle is actually the Headmaster of Pālulu Academy.

Jett Sanzang

Professor of Stealth & Security, alongside Criminal Justice

Based off of Six Eared Macaque. A faunus with macaque ears.

Their Semblance is super hearing/echolocation, combined with brain processing allowing them to circumvent sensory overload.

Blind, but a lot of people genuinely don’t know until they tell them.

Wields a staff that can function as a walking stick or become a three section staff.

Adopted child of Starr Sanzang.

Does do favourites, but isn’t about to let Luna Wukong know that.

Kinda like Lego Monkie Kid’s Macaque, but less evil.

Teaches about the shadier aspects of the Hunter life alongside Jaune. To say the contrast between the two is jarring would be an understatement.

Zubair de Rio

Primary Engineering teacher, overseer of the weapon’s forge and vehicle maintenance.

Allusion is Ogun, the Yoruba god of metal work.

Duel wields an axe and a billhook, both of which double as shotguns.

His Semblance is iron manipulation.

Quietly nerds out over his students’ weapons.

Also does favourites, but not to the point of bias.

Slight hero worship of Yang Xiao Long & Ruby Rose for their engineering skills instead of their Hunting feats.

Gris & Cinnabar

Two members of Armonia’s militia, gunship pilots usually responsible for shuttling students and Hunters to their missions.

shdbsdgvsagvdg i have SO many so this is officially becoming my coco masterpost thank u dude

alright, SO.... as much as i claim to be a neo and winter stan first and foremost (aside from the main 4 obv), i have such a deep love for coco that i legitimately cannot express it sometimes and i can't WAIT for her to be back on screen in vacuo. i have many Thoughts about her and her background that i am constantly thinking about and building on that I am putting under the cut here to avoid a wildly long post flooding ppls dash.

thank u for letting me rant my thoughts are below:

Coco doesn't have a good home life. She comes from an extremely wealthy family with parents who were just not around enough/didn't care enough to spend time with her growing up. Because of this, she finds it hard to foster genuine connections and trust people enough to let them in. Until CVFY (Velvet in particular)

Coco goes home with Velvet after they finish their first year because of this and Velvet's family welcome her with open arms. Velvet has lots of siblings and Coco is an only child, so the adjustment is an ADJUSTMENT for her.

She learns to trust through this visit though, and slowly realizes that sometimes families just want to care about you because they actually do and not because they want you to leave them alone the rare times they're home

Indulge my Crosshares love for a moment, but it's Coco who crushes on Velvet first. We know from the CVFY books that Velvet took an interest in Coco pretty quickly, but what she didn't realize was that Coco felt the same. Coco couldn't understand why every girl in the school was begging for her affection except for the cute little faunus girl who wouldn't even spare a wee smidge of eye contact for her

When they end up on the same team, Coco is ECSTATIC. She makes it her mission to get close to Velvet, but Velvet stays pretty aloof (not bc she doesn't like her, but because she likes her SO much she's in her "get out of my school" moment")

Yatsu becomes Coco's confidant when she needs support, Fox becomes her confidant when she needs a kick in the ass

They both confront her and Velvet when their feelings are getting too intense for the team to function normally, forcing them to finally talk it out and admit to how much they care

Coco needs to grow first though, so they don't get together right away. She's got a history that she needs to unpack and break free from, so she starts bettering herself and cuts off the girls she used to keep around for attention

Alright this is not a Crosshares masterpost so I will cut myself off there and save the rest for another time perhaps

Coco learns about her semblance late.... I'm talking like possibly first year of Beacon late. She's such a good fighter that Oz doesn't really care, but one day her team is in serious trouble and all of a sudden the dust in her gianduja just becomes insanely strong and she manages to take down a pack of Ursa with almost no difficulty

It's on their first mission and she assumes it's a fluke, but then it happens again and she realizes her semblance is a reflection of her ability to better the things around her and help people, despite her self-proclaimed lone wolf attitude

Coco cries on the airship away from Beacon. Like really truly cries for the first time in her life. She lost her home, her safety, and her worldview all in one shot and just feels.... lost. They head to Vacuo because Coco decides to do everything in her power to stop this feeling from hurting anyone else the way it hurt her

bc I am me and y'all know how I am already, I'm gonna throw in a quick bumbleby bit bc obviously.... SO:

Coco catches on first. She sees Yang waiting outside a class for Blake one day or smth and is like "What are you doing out here alone kid?" (She calls Yang kid because she's the mom friend sorry but not actually sorry at all). Yang is beaming when she starts to tell Coco about her plans with Blake to go hit up some new restaurant downtown, and Coco leaves the conversation just KNOWING

she texts Velvet and says "B&Y together??? more research needed but intuition says YES"

so when they show up to Vacuo, Coco personally will explode when she sees them together

Alright I'm gonna leave this here because this got ridiculously long, but I'll probably come back to and add to this one day because I have so much more about her I need to suss out and headcanon about but this was fun. Coco is SO good and so underrated and I have so much love for her

yessss crosshares getting married !!!

1: Coco is the one to propose. She waits a whole lot of time because she's spent years being the ladykiller, never being able to settle on just one girl. She knows she loves Velvet beyond anything, but she's constantly nervous that one day those feelings are just going to stop. It's after four years of them dating that Coco finally decides that if those feelings ever do stop, they'll be far enough in the future that she won't have to worry about them today. She goes out and buys a ring that week, and she asks Velvet after taking her out for a fancy dinner and preparing an in-depth powerpoint with all of their best moments as captured by Velvet. Proposing is almost a challenge to her future self. 'You've got the perfect woman. Now you're not allowed to fuck this up.'

Velvet immediately says yes, and she knows how big this is for Coco, so she constantly tells Coco how much she loves her that night to make sure Coco knows she made the right choice.

2: When they get engaged, they do not shut up about it. It's all over their socials. They texted everyone they knew when it happened. It's worked into Velvet's voicemail. Them getting engaged was maybe the hottest event of the year, with everyone who went to school with them talking about it and congratulating them all week. Coco jokes that they're using this to see who to invite to the wedding based on who replies, but Velvet insists her fiancee is kidding.

3: Coco spends a whole year planning the event. Look, Coco wants to marry Velvet because she loves her so heckn much, but she'll be damned if she lets the wedding be anything less than perfect. She makes sure Velvet's dress is beyond beautiful (which she designs and makes herself as a wedding gift to her beloved) and makes sure anyone helping out has a copy of the plan that they reference regularly and religiously. Everything has to be photographable, and she holds auditions for photographers who can hold a candle to Velv. It is perfect.

4: The entire wedding is the biggest party Vacuo's ever seen. If Coco and Velvet's engagement was the hottest event of the year, their wedding itself is the white centre of that fire. They're sure to keep the ceremony short so as to not bore people, but they also make sure it's photographable as all hell and that everyone is dazzled. Coco cannot do anything less than extra and Velvet admits it's nice to be dazzling when normally she feels so plain, so they put extra effort into making sure their love is the talk of the town and everyone they know is there to keep that conversation going.

The reception itself is massive, and the energy is so vibrant that even people that only somewhat know the newlyweds go up and make toasts. Yatsu, Fox, Sun, and Scarlet of course have the most to say, but even people like Yang and Nora spend a solid chunk of time speaking for them. Most people get wasted, a not-insignificant amount of people get laid, and the next morning Coco and Velvet get a noise complaint on the door of their honeymoon suite.

5: Weiss almost doesn't show. Having dated Coco at Beacon for less than a week, she's still bitter that she isn't the girl who Coco stopped being a player for, as much as she thinks Velvet is a total sweetheart and deserves love. She does show, of course, but in the hottest dress she can get and with Blake and Yang on her arms to make her look good and to try and show Coco up.

By the end of the night, her and Coco are drunkenly dancing to Scissor Sisters and bygones are bygones, if only for the night, while the bees and Velvet snicker to themselves just off the dance floor.
