Every day we inch closer to finding out what the hell the German dub of the Mighty Nein cartoon is going to do about Caleb.
#critical role#the mighty nein#they’ve excitedly stated that Caleb is going to be speaking more German in the series#because they’ll have time to script it and Liam can practice his phrasing#but the point of it is that Caleb is a character primarily speaking his second language#and his first language is one the other characters don’t understand#so. what does the dub do?#is he French? Swedish?

Happy belated Father's Day to Chetney Pock O'Pea! The father of Orym? Scanlan?? Fjord??? He is someone's father for sure.
#I am a bit sad about this one.#Right after I finished I realized that it doesn't work as I wanted.#But it still was a good practice so it's fine. I just really wanted to do a good illustration for Chet. #I TRIED lining the third up and it does in the fucking timing but it doesn't seem to actually WORK in practice. the FRAMES all line up but#it doesn't actually play as lined up so I give up and I'm not remaking the two I made back in 2020 lmao#Critical Role#CritRoleEdit#CREdit#CriticalRoleEdit#gena makes stuff#Gena's gifs#CR spoilers

My litmus test for deciding if I respect or value a person’s One Piece opinions is looking at the way they discuss Usopp tbh. You can tell a lot about someone based on how they talk about Usopp specifically.
If a person insists that Usopp is useless (whether it’s because he’s not as strong as Zoro or Luffy or Sanji or because he “doesn’t have a real job” on the crew) it tells me that they don’t pay attention to what Usopp does contribute, nor do they pay attention to what the story itself deems useful. Usopp may not be a massive, hulking powerhouse with ultra-powerful haki, but he does have utility in the crew. (And even if he didn’t, he would still belong because they wanted him.)
If a person insists that Usopp is just a crybaby or a coward and that he sucks because of this, it tells me that you don’t pay attention to what he’s doing while he’s running or crying. He might cry or shake or run, but he always comes back. He always stands up and fights in the end. He feels scared and then he does it anyway. It’s easy to forget, but Usopp is just a human in a world of monsters. For him to stand up and fight takes a lot of courage.
If a person insists that Usopp is not strong, it tells me they miss what the story itself tells us about what strength is and what it means to be strong. He has a skill that most do not. He is able to shoot with a degree of accuracy that is borderline inhuman. Whether he can kick through a boulder is irrelevant. Sanji can’t snipe from hundreds of feet away.
If you can’t look at Usopp and see where he fits in the story, I am truly uninterested in anything else you have to say about this story.
#txt#usopp#one piece#I’m not saying you have to adore him#I’m just saying you should probably practice like. a teeny tiny bit of reading comprehension#Usopp carried the crew all the way to Water 7 just to get disrespected by the fandom every ten seconds#I’m sorry but he did. he really did.#and WHO INSPIRED FRANKY????? That’s right.#thank you Usopp for not one but TWO boats!!#anyway. I’m not taking criticism so don’t try lmao#I’m right#oh but water 7– I already stopped listening. go reread it.

While I have Many Thoughts on the plan to convince the gods to go mortal, most of which others have already addressed at length (mainly how the fuck is this going to work in practice in both the long and short run, and also really cool idea but could’ve been set up better), I haven’t seen anyone bring up how this particular solution may actually bring a chance at change and growth for the gods that has so far been withheld from them.
Because, until now, the pantheon as a whole has been sort of - stuck. They went from beings of endless possibility in Tengar to being distillied and calcified through trauma into a single trait, the domains of which they became gods. The primes and betrayers aren't different sides of a war but a family locked in a struggle that will never be resolved because neither side will ever relent, nor are they either truly willing or capable of (being immortal) killing each other. They seem incapable of truly changing, and several of them (notably the Arch Heart and the Raven Queen) have expressed simply being tired. They don’t necessarily want to die, but they recognize a need for change, just that they themselves can't be the instigators of it.
The god debate hasn’t really taken this into account, though the overhanging shadow of it has been growing heavier since downfall. The kill-all-gods side obviously has no reason to care whether the gods are locked in endless misery (other than using it as an additional excuse for murder), but the save-all-gods side isn't any more helpful when it comes to this particular issue. Saving the gods won’t heal them.
Maybe becoming mortal (however many, many issues that brings with it) could actually allow them to become whole as people the way mortals are, no longer as strictly tied to their domains. Now that the entirety of Exandria no longer rests on them playing nice, maybe they can find a way to resolve their family feud (through blood or reconciliation). Perhaps, as mortals, they can even eventually even find a way to live a full, final life and find rest at the end of it.
#nella talks cr#critical role#cr3 spoilers#cr3#like yeah i have SO many issues with how this will work in practice#(how will they keep from going mad with endless reincarnations the way the bright queen slowly is?)#(what happens to their power - will there still be clerics and paladins or will exandria lose that line of defense?)#(what of demigods like ukotoa - will they now be more powerful than their makers?)#(what's stopping the betrayers from immediately going full god while the primes are mortal and quickly finishing the calamity?)#much of which could’ve been resolved if there was more set up#but i also think it's the only solution so far that might actually deliver the gods from a despair which has been evident since tengar

the literally only amendment I'd make to pride and prejudice is a flashforward where charlotte collins née lucas is tragically widowed in her late thirties/early forties and uses the financial independence of her widowhood to move to london, buy a nice house, go to parties, take some dashing naval officer ten years her junior as a second husband and pretty much have the life she never was able to have when she was young.
#pride and prejudice#charlotte lucas#yes charlotte is practical and sensible and makes the smart choice in marrying collins!#but practical sensible women deserve fun too!#(and to clarify this is not an actual criticism of jane a's writing no-one come for me)

You know one of the things I really liked in c3e95? Orym getting mad. So many times he's pushed his own feelings down in order to complete a goal or be a steadying influence on the rest of the Hells. But this time - due to shock, maybe, or indignation or a sense of betrayal of having one of his own attack him in his sleep, or maybe because Dorian is back and he feels supported just by his presence - he let it all out. He said what he thought and didn't filter it to soften the impact.
Really introverted characters can be hard to dig into because they are so self-contained. It helps when the form of story they're in allows the audience to see events from inside their head or hear their thoughts, and so much of Campaign 3 hasn't allowed that (or maybe Liam has just not chosen to take those opportunities for what are no doubt good character reasons). But I want to know what's going on in all of Bell's Hells' heads, including Orym. If a moment of shock or anger is what it takes to get us there at last, so be it.
#critical role#bells hells#orym of the air ashari#c3e95#critical role spoilers#This is why there will never be enough RP for me in any piece of media#I want all the characters to talk about their thoughts and feelings all the time - it's the fanfiction writer in me#Even though I know that's not practical and wouldn't even be desirable for a lot of other fans
