@decreedfate:
i know i've made mistakes, but at least they were mine to make. (Sam for Rosewood // Rhodochrosite)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rosewood lets out soft sigh as the fall winds breeze rustles the leaves and trees near them. His heavy cloak slightly shifting against the wind as crimson and pale red eyes flickers towards the stranger.
" Just the same as any tree, your mistakes can be ripped from the soil they had grown into. Cut the tree down or even burn it if you will. Various ways to deal with. Though I advise to be careful for where ever that tree falls"
The looming figure lets his head lightly tilt towards the side. The branch like antlers that sprout from his head brushing against the near by trees.
" I have some coffee made a little while ago. Would you like a cup? "

Crimson’s Awakening
Just a short drabble on how Iridescent Diamond came to create a Diamond in an accident and what follows!
Words: 569
Fandom: Steven Universe
Setting: A faraway planet in a neighboring galaxy
Characters: Iridescent Diamond, Crimson Diamond, Rhosalina.
Summary:  Her Luminous was enchanting.  Brilliant and precise in every way possible.  It was no surprise that she could create something so groundbreakingly grand, but it was a shock nevertheless.
“What… Is that?”  A voice sounded from the growing crowd.  Murmurs and worry whispered through the gems who witnessed the outrage of their Diamond those few days ago.  She had been marked by the widowkeepers arrow after her poor Prism passed, and her outrage exceeded her sorrow when an asteroid came hauling to the planet she and her court resided on.  With all her strength, Iridescent Diamond had clocked the rock with her fist a blood red, her power of strength enveloping her.
It seems in a few moons time, that blood red glow found itself back to their colony.  A figure of bright color came to them on nothing but her heels, and sought consolation from their leader, first asking, then demanding.
“Who am I?!”  She yelled, her voice orotund.  “I know you are my creator-- I emerged from the Sun, but it is YOUR power that flows through me!  I know it to be true!”  The stranger tried to step closer, but was haulted by Iridescent’s quick hand and fruity voice.  “Strange one, I have determined your origins, and I am to believe it is me.”  She began, thinking back to her blood red rage.  Flinching at the thought of her recent loss, she continued, “I do not know who you are, star child, but know this-- To discover what you wish to find, you must look for what has never been lost…
“You must reflect on your inner ocean before you dive, and once you have,”  Iridescent had come closer to the stranger while she had spoken, and had ended up a mere 3 feet away from each other as she ended, “once you have, then shall you be beholden to no gods that await you.”
The stranger watched her walk away after Iridescent had spoken, and felt the conflict within herself settle.  To reflect, to dive, then to be… to be your true self.  She looked down to her red hands, her eyes tracing the long fingers that adorned them, and her plush palms that sat upon them.
“Crimson!”  She called out to the Queen.  Turning, the Queen looked, her face seemingly devoid of thought.  The stranger gulped and shifted, her back straightened now, nodding despite herself, “I’ve decided… I am Crimson.”  Iridescent simply smiled fondly, and nodded with a few words to follow.  “Then come, Crimson.  We’ve much to learn from each other.”
“My Diamond,” Rhosalina muttered, walking in strides with her Queen, “Not to impose, but-- That stranger-” “Crimson.”  The elder corrected, to which the Rhodochrosite sputtered an apology.  “Apologies, I’m certain.  But Crimson is a Diamond, My Luminous!  I fear her powers may be too great to control!  I can foresee many futures where-”
“Leave the visions of the future to the Sapphires, Rhosalina.  Besides, we will not control her.”  Iridescent looked back to Crimson, who was catching up to the two of them.
“I do not need visions to see that her grand nature shalln’t be harvested.  They shall become as bright as the Sun she was born unto, and as I said--”  Iridescent’s grin curling, “--Her fate with the Gods will be but a tear in the rain of memories lost to time.”
Rhosalina stared in disbelief at the words.  “...What?”

Trinkets, 39: Interesting baubles, semi magical objects and items touched by mystery.
An umbilical cord in a neat wooden box, lined with velvet. The cord itself has small, glassy eyes over its surface.
A disc of black iron four inches across and almost an inch thick, set with raised sigils around the edge, one side having a leather cover held in place by a strap. If the cover is removed a spiraling set of sigils is revealed, each like a twisted spider and there is something deeply unwholesome in the way they hold the eye and seemed to writhe. Touching the sigils underneath the cover creates feeling of extreme pain as if the disc was white hot iron. The feelings dissipate the second the disc isn’t making direct contact with skin.
An iron bracelet shaped like a coiled serpent with rhodochrosite eyes.
A simple looking box made of plain, unstained and untreated pine boards. The box is two feet high, three feet wide and one foot deep, and has horrific pictures of undead silhouettes burned on the outside of it. The lid is attached by a simple brass hinge and bears foul necromantic symbols. Inside, the box holds ashes that look suspiciously like cremation remains.
A roll of old bandages that has been inked with strange pictograms.
An unusual standing lamp made of brass sporting a vented wheel over top of its wick and a number of crystal chimes along its outer edges. When lit, the rising hot air from the flame slowly turns the wheel which has a number of outward reaching pins which strike the chimes creating soothing tinkling noises, while the light refracting from the crystals creates a rosy glow. While much more suited for an upscale pleasure den, the lamp is sturdy enough for travel if carefully wrapped in fabric beforehand. The lamp will burn for six hours on a flask (One pint) of oil.
A pewter goblet with dark and rancid blood lurking within. The lip is black and caked where it appears others have tasted from it. Scratched deep into the pewter are the words "Taste My Fear."
A vest fashioned from the hide of a large darkhaired ape.
A gallon jug of thick smoky glass wrapped in braided twine. The container is filled with a potent liquor strong enough to strip paint from wood. Only the eldest brigands of the wildlands know the secret to distilling a libation so pure. The devout have no need of drink, but vagabonds always thirst for more. One who consumes this superior moonshine feels they can take on the world and is filled with resolve.
A demonic gnoll totem of gold and silver coins hammered and nailed into a chunk of wood topped with a sheep skull.
—Keep reading for 90 more trinkets.
—Note: The previous 10 items are repeated for easier rolling on a d100.

One who consumes this superior moonshine feels they can take on the world and is filled with resolve.
A demonic gnoll totem of gold and silver coins hammered and nailed into a chunk of wood topped with a sheep skull.
A shard of a mirror that shows strange shadows in its reflections.
A bizarre, metallic lump of iridescent crystals of concentric geometric shapes expanding outward in rough steps. Knowledgeable PC's can identify the mineral as bismuth.
A small silver dish inscribed with a smiling moon that will fill with fresh milk or food when placed in front of kittens, orphans, and kindly old half-blind men.
A black glass orb eight inches in diameter, that appears to have octopus tentacles that reach to grasp the inside of the sphere. Often, they separate, revealing one large cephalopod eye.
A steel mirror set in a fanged maw of iron.
A mask made from white ceramic in the round shape of a cherubic human child’s face. The lips are painted bright red and the hair deep black. The eyes are blank and empty.
A one gallon cask of Well Wishes Whisky that has a smooth finish and a warm, golden scent. This whisky is distilled from an ancient wishing well and rumor has it that the liquor grants people luck when drunk. Knowledgeable PC’s have heard that it is especially popular among students at the Wizard Academy during exam time.
A mage’s rod made of the smoothest black wood. It stands about three feet in height and had a base of five inches or so. At the top held by four intertwining pieces of silver ivy is held a crystal orb.
A set of pewter tankards, five in all, which have various pictures of historic castles and their coats of arms. On the back of each tankard is a verse which, if deciphered, will reveal a ribald and amusing fact about the holders of the coats of arms.
A small leather pouch, about the size of a book. Unfastened, it reveals inside several sheets of fine writing paper, a wooden stylus, a wax tablet, two quills and a pen-knife plus a small bottle of ink. A careful examination of one of the sheets of paper will reveal that it bears the impression of what was written on the sheet above it (now long gone). This will be the first half of a letter that gives some tantalizing hints regarding a mystery of the DM’s choosing.
A tall, black hat of a witchfinder, inside the hat is sewn the name Erasmus Pottingley.
A roughly circular slab of obsidian an inch thick, or thereabouts, and just the right size to be cradled comfortably in one's palms. Roughly shaped around its circumference, though one broad side is simply stone-pecked to a slightly convex, pitted surface the other has been polished to such a high degree that the surface is unblemished as still water. Perfectly smooth, the polished side can act as a fine (If dark) mirror. Those who peer into the silky smooth reflective face of slab long enough, however, see floating within the midnight depths a rendition of the starry skies in smoky points of light. Focused on the zodiacal constellations, these tiny dark "stars" change with the day and the seasons in perfect step with those in the sky above.
A small idol made of bone and crimson gems of unknown nature. It represents the blackened skull of a horned ox with six red eyes that seem to gleam slightly in the dark.
A burlap sack in which is stored a 2d4+1 days’ worth of trail rations. The foodstuffs take the semi-appetizing form of sparrow jerky which has been pressed into small cakes of many thin sheets. Each cake is wrapped its own linen cloth for travel.
A cherry-wood box carved with arcane symbols of conjuration and binding. The interior is covered with scratches made by small claws. Knowledge PC’s can deduce from the nature of the magical runes that the box is meant to trap and contain an imp so that it can be become a mage’s familiar.
A fine pine box bound with a leather strap. Inside are five hand rolled cigars. They smell of spice, toasted almonds, and honey. They look quite expensive.
A small ivory box, carefully engraved at all sides. It depicts scenes of a nobility: feasts, dances, a marriage, and peasants tending fields. On the inside, it is divided into small square compartments. They were probably meant to store makeup or perfumes, yet none remain. It might have been part of noble bride's dowry.
An old but seemingly undamaged piece of abstract art containing a pattern designed to befuddle the viewer's brain.
A floor tile with a footprint on it that reads: "Step here to summon Balog." The tile is slightly charred.
A cheap wax seal stamp, depicting a generic shield shape.
A light woman’s coat with the emblem of a gryphon embroidered to the back of it.
A black obsidian crystal sphere filled with a dark inky fluid. Inside the sphere is a small white dodecahedron with black text on each of its faces. The sphere gives off a faint divination aura.
A pewter brooch with a galloping horse embossed on it.
A silver turtle shaped locket with a black opal shell. Inside the locket is a picture of somebody's loved one.
A scabbard of black ash and bronze decorated with a sneering bearded face with tourmaline eyes. It is suitable for longsword or similar straight blade.
A large tapestry depicting an ancient battle with tentacled monsters.
A missing poster with the image of a well dressed Minotaur and his children. It reads, “Hyam Hyrule. A loving, kind and down to earth family man. 200 gold reward to whoever can find him alive.”
A candle made from the grisly, severed hand of a hanged criminal, if lit it is believed to help people remain undetected as they enter an abode.
A soft cloth handkerchief on which is a limerick, written in blood: There once was a man with one sandal. His appetites most couldn't handle. He stalks the streets hunting souls. Cooks their feets over coals. And writes limericks about being a cannibal. A soft cloth handkerchief splattered with blood.
A scrap of parchment that reads; "It is done. Meet me in the graveyard at dawn, near the crypt."
A fine doublet of incredible intricacy and beauty, with a pattern of nymphs playing in a garden along the back.
A beautiful painting of a late autumn lake in the forest. The longer you look at it, the more mesmerizing it becomes. As you stare, the leaves on the trees seems to jostle in the wind, the lake seems to breathe as water, and the clouds seem to drift ever so slightly into the sunset, like a portal into a perfect glimmer of peace. The only curiosity is a sad old man with a gnarled crown sitting upon a small bench, not quite in the foreground though impossible to ignore. He seems to loom over the lake, and is vaguely familiar… He seems to weep, giving the painting a sense of loss and sadness, as if this world so perfect was dying with him.
A boldly colored quartz the size of a pigeon’s egg, etched and painted in such a way that when it is placed to one’s eye in the light, they see a clever but naughty image of a beautiful person in the nude.
A baby’s blanket made of the finest cloth. It was kept in a mothballed container for years. It smells faintly of mint, as if someone meant to store it for a very long time.
A durable, clear glass bottle filled with ashes and a note. The says “These are my wife's ashes. She always wanted to see the world but spent her life looking after me and our children. Please take her with you on your travels, we'd both appreciate it”.
A spiked red leather dog collar with a steel dog tag on it that  reads “Murderface”.
A sadistic violin that no matter how much it’s tuned, will always play terribly. The instrument seems to want to annoy and bring misery to as many people as it can. If anyone ever starts to actually enjoy the out of tune music, the violin will change to a different worse sound, ensuring no listener ever brought joy by its sounds.
A fist-sized glass bauble with beautiful coruscating colored lights inside.
An iron gorget with a large peridot in the center of it.
An ancient cup, now cracked and chipped, that was carefully carved out of a single large block of translucent red amber.
A simple framed painting of a figure leaning back in a chair, it's face shrouded in shadow.
A small, black, triangular stone, about the size of a human's fist. Engraved in the center is a spiraling mark.
A perverse and gaudy replica of a cleric's mask. When this facial covering is worn, the spirit feels nebulous, boundless even. The vast distances between each being dissolves, revealing a vision of the world beheld by a thousandfold eyes.
A censer filled with perfumed incense that can be held or hung from chains. The sweet smell wafting from this censer hides a poisonous reaction within. Knowledgeable PC's will know by the style of the stylized inscriptions that cultists used these burnt offerings to confuse and confound their senses. In a state of rapturous delirium, they behold obscene truths and righteous falsehoods.
A crudely made jack in the box child’s toy constructed from unfinished unpainted pine carelessly hammered together with varying sized of nails. The crank is a rough twist of metal bound with a length of burlap over the handle. On the front of the box, burned into the wood are the words “Turn the crank, close your eyes, and pray to the gods for a pleasant surprise.”
A stone tablet with fine holes drilled through it that seem to be arranged in some sort of pattern.
A bracelet of bone beads carved into skulls, the eyes are polished jet.
A brass monocular telescope, etched with decorative markings, but due to poor maintenance, stuck in its collapsed state.
A wooden peg-leg in the shape of a dragon's leg complete with splayed-toed clawed foot tipped with hooked claws of iron.
A shipwreck in a water-filled glass globe. At the bottom is a massive kraken with tentacles up through the water. The ship is in big pieces that float with different levels of buoyancy. There are tiny sailors that float and sink to the bottom.
An incredibly life-like sandstone statue of a cockatiel.
A chipped and cracked porcelain tea cup with a rose and leaf motif marked with a stamp on its bottom in an unknown language.
An agate scarab the size of a human palm with writing in Mulhorandi that reads "Even in death, I serve".
A brass and crystal hourglass that when turned over plays softly tinkling chimes as the sand passes through it for the unit of time known as a "song", lasting a minute or two.
A seemingly normal conch shell. When pressed to the ear, faint sounds of surf and wind, rustling palms and crying gulls can be heard. The area around the listener's ear is specked with sand afterwards.
A pair of carefully wrapped baby shoes, never worn.
A silver holy symbol sculpted to resemble a shining sun. Such an image is sometimes used by clerics and paladins not associated with any particular deity. The amulet is small enough to be gripped in one hand and a religious bearer can feel that it contains the divine spark of a truly holy object.
A gilded acorn containing a feather, a tuft of fur and a fish tail.
A one gallon cask of The Nine Hells, an alcoholic beverage that's traditionally served in tiny flasks. The drink is a very potent brew of vodka, extra-strength peppermint, pure capsaicin extract and garnished with a single drop of wolf's blood in each serving.
A violet shawl that twists and melds with the darkness, becoming as black as coal in even the faintest shadow.
A swirly mahogany wand that changes to a different color every night at midnight.
A copper chalice engraved with a geometric pattern.
A wooden jeweler box with copper detailing.
A simple chunk of flint broken off of a larger rock eons ago by natural forces. A closer inspection, however, reveals one edge of the rock has been carefully napped down to a razor edge, while the opposite side has been shaped into a crude handgrip. Small, primitive figures of deer, wolves, and bears are etched into the stone. The carvings sometimes appear to have changed places of their own accord, though they never move while being observed.
A brass statue of a winged wolf with quartz fangs.
A copper candle holder shaped like a galloping horse.
An embroidered silk tablecloth edged with lace.
A set of sheet music for a lost operetta composed by a respected composer.
An ornate scabbard set with agates of multiple colors.
A wooden flute from a birch tree from the feywild that sprouts small leafy branches.
A golden cloak clasp in a pattern of knotted vines covered in small leaves.
A large musical horn carved from the tusk of a mammoth and decorated with gold bands.
A brass lever nutcracker with head shaped like a bird of prey.
A drum made of dark oak and covered with hide from a giant elk with drumsticks carved from antlers.
A wand made of a sturdy ash. Each end is seamlessly reinforced with bronze.
A black chunk of obsidian that is roughly a round shape and has no sharp edges. Looking into its cloudy depths one can see an almost infinitely receding sea of gold, white, and blue flecks of colour. When held, the bearer will swear that he can hear the sound of perfect silence, the call of the infinite void...
A large forest green tapestry bearing a symbol stretching across its length switched in gilded thread. Its accented with white and red and all along its hem is a complicated mantra of magical sigils and signs.
An angular carved crystal vial holds a thin light blue liquid. The crystal vial feels chilled to the touch and when let sit for long periods of time it forms crystals throughout the liquid that quickly dissipate when disturbed again.
A porcelain disk painted with a detailed representation of the God of Random Domain.
A map to a series of underground tunnels with an area marked ‘tentacle-head’.
A set of sheet music for a popular folk song adapting it to tablature needed for a three-handed mandolin player.
A staff that more resembles a long and skinny marble column with white pearls embedded along its length. When used as a cane or walking stick, the wielder's step feels sturdy and secure.
A sturdy cloth backpack made of high quality cotton, adorned with exotic feathers and pretty cross stitches.
A small, framed painting of a castle, the details of which (The number of towers and parapets, the banners flown, siege weaponry on the battlements, and similar features) change subtly when no one is looking.
A crumpled map of Corvid Commons marked with the entrances to the hidden shrines of the Shrouded Lord.
A bewitched slip of paper which, if placed on the bark of a tree, reveals in writing the species of that tree.
The deed to a mysterious abandoned house in the Dreamers’ Quarter, wrapped around the brass key to the front door.
A fashion magazine, Rich Filth, describing the latest trends for the ultra-wealthy, including the most recent Slimewear, Cathedral Chic, and Roachdress looks, as well as even more outré fashions such as “Patching," which involves magically transplanting patches of flesh (Usually taken from corpses) to one's body in peculiar designs.
A taxidermy wolpertinger (A hybrid of rabbit, bird, squirrel, and deer) native to Mooncalf Valley.
A blackened diamond corrupted in a failed resurrection attempt.

power within you | x.mh
Tumblr media
pairing; minghao x reader
summary; a boy comes into your shop equipped with his grandmother’s grimoire, unsure if he possess the same power and eager to find out.
genre/warnings; witch au, fluff, unedited (woops, let me know if there are any bad mistakes)
word count; 2k
playlist; background music for a shop run by witches
the shop was quiet, the soft music echoing off the walls whilst you sat at the counter, your head bobbing to the music, an old book perched in your hand. your grandmother had insisted you should learn the history of the witches from her coven and so she had given you a diary written by one from over four hundred years ago. the pages were thin and stained with time, so your fingers thumbed through it delicately.
you had almost forgotten the shop was still open until the shrill bell sounded, indicating someone had entered. your customers were varied, some were humans who came in to look around, rolling their eyes at everything aimed at witches, muttering and laughing to their friends about how it was a con. the other half of your customers were actual witches that came in for supplies, or aid in spells. when your parents had finally declared your abilities high enough to look after the shop on your own, you were overjoyed. the novelty had worn off now and you wanted to be at home, in bed, maybe watching a movie.
you tore your eyes away from the elegant cursive writing to the door, where a tall boy had walked in. he had black hair which covered his eyes and he held a hefty dark leather book under his arm. it looked like a grimoire, and an old one at that. you smiled politely, asking the question your parents had groomed you to say whenever anyone, no matter how irritating stepped through the door.
"can i help you?" he was looking around the shop, taking in the wall decorations and the shelves of colourful vials and jars. his eyes focused on you when you spoke.
"yeah, actually," he walked over with the book and set it on the counter before you. you carefully closed the diary and set it underneath the counter, turning your full attention to the boy in front of you. he opened the book to the first page, you looked at the list of contents delicately scrawled on the yellowing pages. you scanned through it, proving you right in suspecting it was a grimoire. "i found this when i was clearing out my house. i wanted to know if you could help me with it."
you looked up at him. you had thought for sure that he was a witch. the way his eyes had scanned the contents of your shop and not widening in surprise at some of the more unusual specimens. you turned the book around to face you so you could read it properly. you turned the first few pages and saw the language at the front didn't match the language on the pages. the complicated recipes and spells were written in chinese, and it took a little more concentration to read the aged words. "what specifically did you want help with?"
"well, my grandparents were witches," he started, watching your face as you read some of the spells, the way your eyes narrowed in concentration and relaxed when you recognised the words, "my parents never mentioned it to me, but i've never tried any spells." he seemed hesitant. people often were when they doubted their abilities.
"you're not sure you're a witch?" your eyes flickered up to him, seeing him already looking at you with a dark and careful gaze. he nodded and you turned back down to the book, finding his gaze too deep to match. "if your grandparents were, then it would be highly unlikely you wouldn't have some form of power. but i guess i could help."
"thank you," he smiled gratefully. this was the second shop he had been to. the elderly man in the first one had dismissed him, telling him he would already know if he was a witch, and muttered about jealous humans wasting his time.
"well, it's quiet now, so i guess now's as good a time as any." you closed the grimoire and lead him to the back of them shop, separated by a heavy dark velvet curtain. you flicked your wrist and the sign on the front door changed from open to closed. it was near closing time anyway, and you were sure your parents wouldn't mind you closing a little early to help this boy.
you set the grimoire on the chipped wood table in the middle of the room and grabbed one of yours from the shelf over the window. the boy looked around the small room. it was so typically witch like he wondered how anyone could doubt their existence if them came behind the curtain. a deck of tarot cards sat shuffled on a side table next to a deep green wing chair. the room was dark, the only light being the afternoon sun flooding in through the small window. the ledge under the window was crowded with crystals and plants and herbs bathing in the warm summer sun.
"what's your name?" you asked as you gathered a small box from under the table. you pulled a small stool out to sit on and pointed to another one he could use.
"minghao." he spoke quietly, as if he was afraid of disturbing the peaceful aura of the room. you smiled slightly and re-opened his grimoire.
"well, minghao, is this your grandparents' book?" you asked, collecting the jars from out of the box and setting them on the table in front of the two of you. "it'll be easier to cast spells if they're from your bloodline's book."
"yeah, it was my grandmother's." you nodded before setting a small black cauldron in front of him. he looked up at you with wide eyes and then washed his gaze over the substances in front of him.
"okay, so i'm gonna teach you how to make a healing draught, it's very easy and it'll be the easiest way to tell if you have any powers," you pushed some of the jars towards him. there were worn labels on the front of them. he read pine needles, dittany and helichrysum arenarum. he looked at you blankly and you chuckled slightly. "open the jars," he did as you said, laying the lids carefully down on the wood, "put some rosewater into the cauldron, then add those three."
he opened the cap of the rosewater and let some slip into the basin, the soft scent rising up. he picked up the dittany and looked into the dark jar before looking up uncertainly, "how much do i put in?"
"as much as you think is right. before witches had grimoires, they made their creations by sense, how much of this and that felt right to them," you smiled reassuringly, "if you don't know the exact method of anything, you can usually tell."
he gingerly let some dried dittany leaves into the black basin, looking discouraged as they floated on the fragrant water. he picked up the pine needles and grabbed a pinch of them before sprinkling them into the mixture, letting the remaining ones fall back into the jar. you watched on with a small smile, the measurements looked more or less perfect and you could feel the mixture buzzing with an increasing power.
lastly, he grabbed the helichrysum arenarum and finished the potion off with some of the bright yellow flowers. you smiled as he looked up in disappointment when nothing happened. you remembered when that was you. when you didn't understand the craft or how it worked. "now, to activate the ingredients, you need the spell. it's different for every witch. you use a gemstone, or a crystal to channel the energy." you unclasped your necklace to show him. a jagged piece of rhodochrosite hung from a thin gold chain. the red was striking against the dark wood of the table and the reds and pinks that mixed together looked magical in itself to minghao.
you set the necklace on the table and stood, slipping through the curtain and onto the shop floor again, heading for the tray of gemstones. it was too heavy for you to carry and so you twisted your wrist and the tray floated above your outstretched palm, moving with it. you carried it back through to minghao and he watched in awe as it floated to sit next to the cauldron.
"pick one," you nodded to the tray, the wide variety of colours and stones seeming to brighten the room. you could feel the power in them, and with time, you were sure minghao would be able to as well. "pick the one you're drawn to. it will give you the most power."
his eyes glossed over the bright stones, his eyes stopping over a smooth piece of chrysocolla. you told him the name and handed him the stone. he seemed mesmerised by the exquisite pools of red and shades of blue and green that blended together perfectly.
"if you hold it, and read the spell at the front of the grimoire. you'll eventually find your own spell, but that one will work well until you do," you flicked to the second page of the book for him and pointed at the words written in swirling characters.
you hear the soft words form on his lips, his mouth tasting the way they feel rolling off his tongue. they felt right, the way he spoke them so certainly and clearly. it was the sign of a witch, the way spoke their spells revealed a lot about their power, and their knowledge.
he watched the flowers and leaves in the cauldron melt into the rosewater in amazement, the solution turning into a brilliant yellow mixture. he couldn't take his eyes off the contents of the black basin and you chuckled at his wonder. "we need to test it now."
his eyes widened when you picked an ornate knife out of the box. "what are you doing?" he asked frantically, his hands reaching for the knife. you held it away from him.
"how do you think you test a healing draught?" you asked with a laugh, he looked at you like you were crazy, "come one, don't doubt your abilities now." before he could stop you, you slid the knife across your open palm, watching the dark crimson blood drop onto the table.
you placed the knife down and submerged your hand in the yellow solution. you could feel the tingling sensation of the power seeping into your wounds, pulling the torn skin back together and sealing the skin. you pulled your hand from the bowl and held it open for minghao to see.
"well done," you grinned at him and he couldn't stop the grin from covering his face as well. you took the chrysocolla from him and held it in your hand, "do you want it on a chain? you'll need to keep it on you now."
"yes please," he watched as you held one hand around the rhodochrosite still on the table, and one around his blue gemstone. you muttered some words in a language he didn't recognise and when you opened your hand, you revealed the blue gemstone perfectly hanging from a silver chain. you handed it over and wound yours back around your neck.
you closed his grimoire and handed it back to him before waving your hand, making the mess on the table clean itself up. the cauldron emptied itself and flew back to the shelf, the lids reattached themselves to their jars and stacked themselves neatly into the box.
you walked him to the front door of the shop and he stopped before he left, turning back to you with a childlike grin. "thank you so much."
"don't worry about it," the tray of gemstones floated back to where it was previously and his hand hesitated on the door knob. "come back whenever," he was glad you said it before he asked, "for help, or just for fun." your smile was shy and he nodded with a similar look on his face before he disappeared out the door.
you watched him walk away, a smile still adorning his sharp features as he thought about you. your smile didn't fade when you locked up the shop and walked the short distance to your house, minghao still in your thoughts. you hoped you would see him again soon, eager to teach him more to see his proud smile again.
you flicked through the old grimoires in your family library, an extra motivation to learn now you had someone to share it with.
a/n: i acc really like this so i hope you do too. also, two updates in one day, i’m on a roll. should i make a part two???

Light, Ice, Earth, and Shadow wands are often passed down to each generation of dragon, relics imbued with the magic of the past. Fire, Lightning, Arcane, Nature, and Plague require that apprentice magicians forge/carve their own wands. Most Plague clans have young magicians make their wands from the bones of their first kill. Unfortunately, some clans have a rather barbaric practice in which hatchies fight to the death, the strongest making their wands from the bones of their nest mates.
Nature dragons prefer to harvest their wands from the oldest trees of the forest, though only clan leaders can take branches from the Behemoth.  Wind dragon preferences vary from disposable wands made from reeds and bamboo to family heirlooms and prized instruments. Water dragons do not make wands very often, when one lives a life in the sea possessions become optional. Rather it is the Maren who tend to make wands in order to bolster their own magics.
Cores for wands are typically taken from the most powerful beasts of the area or from founts of power such as Plaguebringer’s cauldron (Wyrmwound) or Shadowbinder’s pool in the Obscured Crescent. Some of the strongest cores come from god-touched familiars that appear during festivals ( aka goblins, sprites, spirits, bears). These are even more valued since one cannot slay or harm these creatures without spiritual repercussions, thus one must make friends with them in order to earn the fur, scale, or horn required for the core.
During NOTN, Shadowbinder created false god-touched familiar with elements switched to fool the unwary and unwise. (aka Bogus Manamonger, Sundial Imposter, etc) Using the wrong elemental core will lead to a wand backfiring or exploding in the face of the would-be magician. Using the right elemental core from false familiars will let the wand work though it will be temperamental- however, during NOTN these wands become extremely powerful.
For familiars found only during NOTN (aka Curious Kettle, Valorous Cape), it is recommended to not make cores from their components since they will always backfire. Shadow dragons love to make such wands for pranks and will often leave them as gifts for unsuspecting clan mates.

ᐃ All About Fire ᐃ- My first Masterpost*
Fire is associated with the energy of life and in many traditions is considered the mouth of the Gods as it is used to deliver offerings. Fire is the soul, the driving force, it is energy! Fire is the passion behind creation, the obsession behind destruction. The necessary destructive force that brings about new life. Fire is creative and destructive, desirable and dangerous, necessary and threatening.
Fire in Ritual
Traditional Wicca hails Fire from the South, although it can be called from any direction one feels it connected to, usually the direction of the Sun. If you live in the Southern hemisphere, you may want to call Fire from the North since the equator, and warmest part of the planet is North of you. Fire is sympathetically related to candles and blades or wands depending on your tradition. These items are often use to represent fire in rituals and on altars.
In Ceremonial Magick corresponds fire to the wand or rod.
Literal fires, in the form of bonfires, candles, braziers, etc. are used in ritual to activate a spell and to send offerings or messages to the Gods via burning.
Fire for Magick
The element of fire can be utilized in spells related to energy, sexuality, passions, love, authority, transformation, purification, healing of the blood and head, destruction, will, creativity, ingenuity, innovation, invention, enthusiasm, the family and hearth, kitchen witchery, protection, courage, strength, physical exercise, self-knowledge, loyalty, vision, illumination, power.
Fire is used ceremonially to activate oils and incense and to release intent through burning as well as to present offerings to the Gods.
Elemental Correspondences of Fire
Fire is active, warm, dry, bright and masculine. It can be represented on the altar with a candle or a fire bowl or a blade.
Season Summer Day Sunday Moon Phase Waxing Time Noon Archangel Micheal Chakra Solar Plexus Incense cinnamon, Frankincense, dragon's blood Sabbats Beltane, Samhain, Midsummer, Lughnassadhe Zodiac Signs Aries, Leo, Sagittarius Animals lion, dragon, salamander, snakes, coyote, fox, mantids, scorpion, phoenix, ram, squirrel Alchemical Symbol Triangle with the point up Symbolic Posture Standing straight forming a triangle over the head with arms Major Arcana Tarot Card Judgment(XX) Minor Arcana Suit Wands Planets Mars, Sun, Pluto Elemental Spirits Salamanders, Sprites, Djinn Part of the Body Head Colors White, Red, Orange, Gold, Scarlet, Crimson, Fuchsia, Maroon Symbols Flame, Sun, Stars, Volcanoes, Lightening bolt, Double-headed Axe (Labrys) Gods Vulcan, Ra, Agni, Hephaestus, Horus, Atar, Chu-Jung, Mars, Aten Goddesses Brigit, Freya, Hestia, Pele, Vesta, Durga, Elena, Aetna, Yansa, Themis Magickal Tools Fire, Wand, Lamp, athame, Candles, Dagger, Burned Herbs, Requests on Paper
Fire Minerals
Minerals related to the element of fire are often protective in Nature. They are usually bright and reflective and may be red, orange or yellow in color. Those metals used in forging are sometimes said to correspond with fire, especially if they have been through the forging process. Volcanic stones also tend to be associated with the element of fire.
Gemstones Red Jasper, Bloodstone, Garnet, ruby, Quartz Crystals, Carnelian, Tiger's Eye, Rhodochrosite, Agate, Fire Opal, Lava or any volcanic stone such as obsidian or pumace
Metals Gold, Nickle, steel, Brass
Fire Herbs
Herbs that correspond with the element of fire tend to cause a warming sensation when smelled, touched, or eaten due to the presence of various chemical constituents or a sensation of pain due to the presence of thorns or spines. They are often protective or anti-inflammatory in nature. Some plants that are traditionally burnt are associated with the element of fire on that basis alone.
nettles, allspice, basil, garlic, hibiscus, juniper, onion (and all alliums), red pepper, red poppy, thistle, almond tree, cacti, chile peppers, cinnamon, mustard, tobacco (nicotiana), most nuts, seeds and pods Fragrances clove, patchouli, bay, chamomile
Fire in Dreams
In a dream, Fire can be a purifying element; it can relate to anger, to lust, passion or destruction. Its appearance signifies a major change happening.

Lair Review: Turstrigo (Part 2)
Okay here’s the rest, hope it’s okay!
@turstrigo-fr
Hikari
Tumblr media
Very simple, very cute! I love how well you’ve matched it with the Porpoise especially with the little scarf bringing it together with the red Gem or whatever the heck it is on the porpoise!
Chat
Tumblr media
HOMG YES GOOD THIS IS GOOD!!! WHY IS  HE NOT FURTHER UP THE PAGE!? LOOK HOW HANDSOME HE IS!?!? AND I LOVE ME SOME STRIPES!!!!! Actually, this one of the rare times Tiger/Stripes/Togapi doesn’t make me want to delete my eyes.
Oooh, and the shadow with the lighter brown in the jacker match the Floracat freaking perfectly! You’re so good at this LORE THERE’S LORE I FOUND LORE GIMME GIMME GIMME
Ooooh that’s really cute! And it looks like when he joined the new clan he ended up having some offspring too! CHAT, YOU OL’ DOG, YOU!  I feel like I want to see him holding one of those Baldwin’s books, or having green clawtips or something! Not that there’s anything wrong with how he looks, I just wish there was a little more allusion to his Lore.
Overall though, Chat is my favourite so far! So handsome!
Carrousel
Tumblr media
Okay, well firstly – you’ve matched the familiar well as per bloody usual… wow… REALLY WELL! The purple in the accent – the assasin’s hair, the reds, the browns, THE GREEN TINT TO THE SWORDS WITH THE GREEEN IN THE ACCENT! STOP THIS IS SO GOOD!!
And I see those sneaky, little clawtips! I’m really starting to dig clawtips, my friend! Gonna have to grab some for my own videos clan.
Anyway, really love the Pathfinders on the Maize! Also the Crimson Aviator Scarf was an excellent touch! I love this so much! I love how broken up the reds are, I love that it’s a Plague spiral! I JUST LOVE IT, OKAY!?
Nightshade
Tumblr media
HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT THE ICE EYES MAKE HER LOOK SHOCKED? THAT’S BECAUSE SHE IS! SHE CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO HER.
What is happening, here? All these ribbons and candles… this bitch is a FIRE HAZARD!
She is Nightshade, queen of the clusterfuck!
But seriously, she’s not that bad, I think I’m mostly hatin’on her because I hate Orange and BOY HOWDY THERE IS A LOT OF ORANGE IN THAT DAMN ACCENT!
Laguna
Tumblr media
Okay so Laguna seems a little underdressed but I really like these colours? How NICE is Honeydew Peridot??? This is so pretty! AND I SEE THE HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS/HUES/WHATEVERITIS MATCHES THE SAME IN THE FAMILIAR! I see that!
Pinkeye
Tumblr media
Did you…. Did you just… is this really happening!? DID YOU REALLY NAME IT PINKEYE!?!?!
Tumblr media
For real???
Okay, IDK what’s happening with this one. I can see the Red kind of matches the familiar but Red with Magenta? WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE!?
I like the Aqua with the Pistachio, though! That’s really cute!
…I just can’t get past the dang name, omg.
Rhodochrosite
Tumblr media
OKAY THIS IS REALLY NICE!!!! I would never have thought of pairing Garnet with Cottoncandy but lo and behold, this looks fantastic!! And of course you pair it together super nicely with that Scarlet tunic!
I know I keep saying it but you just match familiars really well!!
Are you gonna gene her up? I wonder what she’d look like with Butterfly!
Silver
Tumblr media
OMG! How cranky does the Headpeice make Male Skydancers look!?!?! I love it!! He’s either super royal or just rich but he seems kind of… pissed off at his own attire? “I look foolish’’ is what the impression I get from him, haha!
He looks gorgeous though, the Ghost Flame with the Silver and Royal is stunning! (AND YES, OF COURSE, DAT FAMILIAR MATCHING1)
Merryweather
Tumblr media
Ahhh, she’s so absolutely stunning!!!!!! The flowerfall looks sooo nice against her eyes!! I love the contrast between the flowerwall and Petals/Facet against the Witch’s stuff and the rigid spines! Very nice, very creative!
I’m curious about the Advent Calendar stuff though, was she a prize that you won or something?
Alright, I think I might have to stop here! I feel like I’m just repeating myself now! Hope this is okay! I really like your lair!

The Dark One Vault
Tumblr media
(x)
Where we see the symbols.
The sun. I think this is Cora’s vault and the person on the right is actually Cora. I don’t know who the person on the left is though
Tumblr media
(x)
Tumblr media
(x)
The four circles intersecting with the one in the middle, on the floor of Regina’s vault, visible in season one in a scene between Regina and Jefferson. I’m guessing it’s the forbidden fruit scene in 1x21.
Tumblr media
The pentagram. When Regina first summons Rumple she reads his name from a page containing several stars within each other. There’s what looks like a pentagram inside a heptagram.
The septagram is funnily enough called the Elven Star or Faerie star and is often used instead of the pentagram. I think in the original German story Rumple was an elf.
“The septagram, or Faerie Star, is used instead of, or with, the Pentagram by many Faerie and Celtic-based traditions. The seven points represent the Sun, the Forest (or Wood), the Sea, Magic, the Moon, the Wind, and Connection (or Spirit).
Point 1: The Sun
This point closely mirrors the pentagram’s element of Fire (creative, passionate, energetic, enthusiastic, courageous, determined, daring, and faithful, but also proud, selfish, restless, jealous, angry, hateful, stubborn, greedy, and resentful), but is more focused on the role of the Sun as the procreator of life, the spark of regeneration, and the divine spark that burns within each of us. Like the pentacle, one of the elemental spirits is the Salamander, but also included are the Dragon and the Phoenix.
Colors: Gold, Orange, Yellow, Red, Pink, Purple, Crimson
Gemstones: Honey Calcite, Sunstone, Fire Opal, Fire Agate, Ruby, Obsidian, Tiger Eye, Carnelian, Garnet, Amber, Bloodstone, Citrine, Diamond, Botswana Agate, Unakite
Point 2: The Forest/Wood
This point somewhat mirrors the pentagram’s element of Earth (practical, endurance, persevering, skill/ability, knowledgeable, reliable, punctual, stable, and wise), but concentrates on the life, fertility, powers of abundance and generosity of the Forest (undeveloped, untamed) environment. Most fae feel a deep connection to Forests and Woods in general, with trees considered as kin, cousins and brothers. The fae see deep secrets hidden in the branches of trees, and understand the power and nature of trees and woods. Unlike the pentacle’s elemental spirit of the Gnome (which lives underground), here we find the Forest elemental spirits of Satyrs, Fauns, Elves and Dryads.
Colors: Green, Brown, Black, Olive, Tan, Russet, Citrine, Gold
Gemstones: Moss Agate, Amber, Salt Rock, Granite, Holy Stone, Picture Jasper, Emerald, Jade, Malachite, Hematite, Amazonite, Jet, Lodestone, Peridot, Serpentine, Turquoise, Labradorite, Black/Banded Agate, Chrysocolla, Red Jasper, Kyanite, Rhodonite, Smoky Quartz
Point 3: The Sea
This point closely mirrors the pentagram’s element of Water (loving, imaginative, compassionate, forgiving, sensitive, easygoing, modest and flowing, but also moody, fantastical, without boundaries, indifferent, depressed and unstable), but concentrates specifically on the Sea (which is Water combined with Earth (salt)). The sea drives the weather of the world and, as the birthplace of life on earth, its waters represent the waters within the womb and the blood that flows through our veins. It is from the Sea that dreams, intuition and emotions arise, and we find the Sea elemental spirits of Mermaids, Selkies, Oreads, and Naiads. The Undines of the pentagram are not included as they are the fresh Water elemental spirits of forest pools and waterfalls.
Colors: Sea Green, Aqua, Turquoise, Silver, Grey, Blue, Green, Indigo, Purple
Gemstones: Aquamarine, Ocean Jasper, Pearl, Moonstone, River Pebble, Amethyst, Fluorite, Geodes, Beryl, Lapis Lazuli, Limestone, Rose Quartz, Shells/Abalone, Sodalite, Albite, Granite, Larimar, Mother of Pearl
Point 4: Magic
There is no corresponding point with the pentagram. The fae are believed to be not just users of Magic, but Magic in and of themselves, which includes everything from the simple but profound Magic of a snowflake to the more complex but natural Magic of crossing through the veil, immortality, shape-shifting, granting boons and wishes, cursing and hexing, and such. It is not a matter of understanding Magic, but of living Magic. There are no elemental spirits associated with this point.
Colors: Purple
Gemstones: Amethyst, Fluorite, Apatite, Azurite, Charoite, Copper, Corundum, Desert Rose, Geodes, Hawk’s Eye/Falcon’s Eye, Herkimer Diamonds, Infinite (Light Green Serpentine), Iolite, Snowflake Obsidian, Rutilated Quartz, Sugalite, Tanzanite, Tourmaline
Point 5: The Moon
There is no corresponding point with the pentagram. Here the Moon represents the Goddess, the bringer of light and giver of life to the Sun God. She lights the dark night skies and creates the tides. The Moon governs the Goddess mysteries, women’s health, the home, children, prophetic dreams, reincarnation, sleep, and emotional healing. When she is waxing, she governs growth and sensuality, including increasing things such as good luck, money, and love. When she is full, she governs emotions and the psychic, such as divination. When she is waning, she governs the spiritual, the underworld, death and transformation, including banishing, binding and eliminating things such as negativity, bad habits, disease, and obstacles. There are no elemental spirits associated with this point.
Colors: Silver, Blue, White, Gray, Tan
Gemstones: Moonstone, Labradorite, Selenite, Silver, Opal, Pearl, Carnelian, Milky Quartz, Amber
Point 6: The Wind
This point somewhat mirrors the pentagram’s element of Air (logic, justice, discrimination, wonder, imagination, laughter, music, joy, humor, communication, intelligence, intuition, and diligence, but also thoughtless, judgmental, critical, impulsive, frivolous, boastful, gullible, gossipy, spendthrift, untruthful, selfish, fickle, and inattentive). However, Wind as an elemental encompasses constant movement, while Air is both movement and stillness. From light, playful breezes to cruel, punishing hurricanes, Wind elementals are never still. We find here not only the Air elemental of the Sylphs, but also the Wind elementals of the Gryphons, Gremlins, and Pegasus.
Colors: Yellow, Light Grey, White, Ice Blue, Sky Blue, Violet, Pastels, Clear, White, Blue
Gemstones: Blue Lace Agate, Celestite, Lapis Lazuli, Topaz, Sapphire, Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine, Mica, Pumice, Larimar, Prehnite, Rose Quartz
Point 7: Connection/Spirit
This point closely mirrors the pentagram’s element of Spirit (unification, change, transformation, alchemy, divinity, infinity, timelessness, and spacelessness). This is the point where heaven and earth, spirit and matter are conjoined, where Nature, the fae and ourselves are the embodiment of divinity. Nature and the fae are our greatest spiritual teachers, showing us how we are all interconnected and how accessible deity is–in the world around us and within us. Along with the pentagram’s elemental spirit of Angels, here we also find the elemental spirit of the Sphinx.
Colors: Iridescent and Brilliant White, Black, Clear, Violet/Purple
Gemstones: Rhodochrosite, Clear Quartz, Diamond, Jet, Black Onyx, Amethyst, Angelite, Apophyllite, Chiastolite (Fairy Cross), Chrysoberyl, Chrysoprase, Elestial, Kunzite, Lepidolite, Moldavite, Petalite/Castorite, Phenacite, Tanzanite
An alternative set of definitions rests upon use of the Faerie or Elven Star as a gateway to the Otherworld; each point of the star is one of the entrances to the Faerie Realm, a pathway, or the 7 rays of manifestation of the Higher Self, as follows:
1st point – Power, Personal Will and Determination 2nd point – Unconditional Love, Wisdom and Growth 3rd point – Knowledge and Intelligence 4th point – Harmony and Tranquility 5th point – Powers of Mind and Science 6th point – Devotion and Honesty 7th point – Magic
The points blend with each other, nurturing and joining us as one with the Universe, bestowing personal and spiritual transformation.”

It’s interesting because I can assign a OUAT character to almost all of these “points” with
The Sun-Cora/Regina
The Forest/Wood-Snow/Zelena/Robin?
The Sea-Hook
The Moon-Ruby (Just because she is a Child of the Moon)
The Wind-Emma
I wrote this 5000 years ago and just never posted it. I think I meant to add to it, but now I don’t remember what, exactly. #LeSigh
It was supposed to be a follow up to another post I wrote (that I think and hope I did post) which also talked about the Dark One Vault and Lily’s symbol and how it connected to religion, I believe. But I think it was this post that talked about a lot of things. Like a lot of my posts do, because one thing tends to turn into another as I make new discoveries. Oops.
