The various inconsistencies created by RWBY:Arowfell in regards to V7-8 Atlas.

Many various creations have the ability to grow into something bigger. Into sequels, entire series and even universes. RWBY is no different, RWBY started out as a humble web show, and yet in the RWBYverse we now have Comic Books, Books, video games, some canonical, some not.

The problem with these various works is of course the questions of canonicity when a work is confirmed to be canon to the series rather than a spin-off or an AU. Many various franchises have encountered such problems, RWBY being one of them.

And in this specific thread i would like to cover a few of the inconsistencies i noticed made by RWBY: Arowfell in regards to Atlas in Volumes 7-8.

Important notes

Before going into the inconsistencies i have noticed i first have to address some pre-emptive arguments and make a few notes.

A - CRWBY was behind the writing of RWBY: Arowfell, the writing was directed by Kerry and people from WayForward have said that their writing was approved by RT themselves. I am only doing this to prevent any of the "Well, RT did not know" kind of excuses. Arowfell is also a fully canonical story.

B - This is not a huge world breaking issue. Everyone should keep in mind that this is in my opinion a problem, but it does not break the show in a major way, nor is this a massive failure or anything of the sort. I find this a problem, but not an extreme one.

C - Some allowances will be made due to Arowfell being a game. When analyzing games and the stories they present one has to know when to and how to not talk about game mechanics. For example, in RWBY arowfell you fight against the same "people" many times, the generic humanoid enemies, that is a gameplay thing and not a story thing of there being clones or anything of the sort.

Importance of Consistent Storytelling

So, inconsistencies and why do they matter? They matter because a coherent story flows better and is more easy to follow and understand for the audiences. It also makes it so that the audience can theorize, learn about the setting and be more immersed in it, as they feel that they are learning of the setting.

When storytelling is inconsistent, all of this can be lost. Immersion is lost, things that are learned are now deemed useless because something has replaced them without reason, and the story can become weird and look forced.

One of the main things with writing is that the writer is hidden behind a curtain. Even if a work expresses their opinions, their feelings, their knowledge. It has to look like the work is separated from the writer, that it is a world of its own.

Of course, this is just but a small overview of immersion and its importance in my opinion, if i wanted to talk about it more i would need an entire thread, time to get to the actual analysis.

Mantle

Talking about Mantle, Arowfell is extremely strange with many choices. First of all, there is, as far as i remember, not a single mention of Robyn, nor the happy huntresses. Its a bit weird because the game is full of newly created OC characters and almost the entire secondary cast of V7-8 are present. But HH and Robyn are conspicuous with their absence. This is definitely a minor thing, i just wanted to mention it.

Although, Arowfell does impact the perception of the choice of Blake and Yang to trust Robyn with information about Amity. Because in Arowfall most of the people they trust end up betraying them, so them trusting Robyn afterwards after even more betrayals seems extremelly strange

The a lot bigger things are in regards to the hole in the wall plotline in Volume 7-8. We are lead to believe in V7 that Ironwood redirects supplies to the Amity project instead of fixing the wall. That is alright. The problems start to occur when Arowfell seemingly establishes an entire criminal underground in Atlas, smugglers, mercenaries some of which are probably huntsmen level. Its very strange because Robyn and anyone else could have used these resources to fix or at least mitigate the damage created by the hole in the wall, especially since team RWBY do not even arrest the smuggler that they encounter in the game.

Whats more is that this Amoncio Glass could have easily helped people like Watts, Tyrian and even Jaques when Jaques goes full evil. And yet his absence in the show is huge since in RWBY: Arowfell, Weiss herself notes that Glass is kind of a big deal.

A similar thing partially applies to the elections and the entire work system of Atlas/Mantle. We hear about the supposed abuses by the SDC and the like, and yet Arowfell establishes that Mantle has unions that would work to prevent such things. The same goes with Jaques talking to Watts about how he wants to fire his workers but cant due to wanting the votes. And once again, should an union not prevent such firings from happening in the first place? It just seems so strange how Arowfell establishes existence of unions in Mantle, and then none of that is in the main show which just ignore that.

The Faunus

What also is extremely strange and inconsistent is how Arowfell seems to bring up the whole faunus discrimination issue again with the character of Mikado Lem, a faunus civilian girl one can meet in Mantle. Who seems to be in awe of Blake being a huntress, acting as if she did not know that is possible. While Marrow is a part of the ace-ops and Neon Katt is part of the Atlas academy too.

It just seems to inconsistent to bring back the faunus abuse point when this entire scene makes no sense. Its just, it seems that Arowfell, and by extension RT still want to bring up the faunus subplot, but do so in the ways that are just so artificial and make little sense.

The cold

What i do think is the biggest miss-step is the whole issue of cold. At the end of V7 and during V8, the shutting down of Mantles heating Grid initiates massive problems for the people. In fact if i am not mistaken it is V8 where Jaune/Yang/Ren are outside the city and are losing Aura because of how cold is basically "damaging" them. Heating is shown to be a massive problem and it has even been previously established that even the Grimm did not do very well against such cold.

Only for Arowfell to put villages that seem to have no natural heating sources and seemingly only have warm clothes for protection (Which people in Mantle should also have). The houses we see in the game dont exactly look to be the most insulated and very much remind me of wooden village houses hat i have seen in my own country even. And yet the villagers live there, with seemingly no problems.

Which just raises the question of how exactly that is the case when this same cold could prevent Grimm from surviving well in the area, this same cold is strong enough to damage aura, and to put an entire city in danger of freezing.

It just seems that little thought was put into all of this. Yes, the villagers wear furs, but i doubt that would be enough to withstand colds that can literally damage aura shields.

That is without mentioning that someone, an artist if i am not mistaken who worked on the game seemingly was told that the Mantle center has no heating, despite the fact that in the show RWBY, it does have natural heating. Which seemed extremely strange to me.

Conclussion

I will apologize to those who waited for this a longer time, if it does not exactly fit ones expectations. I dont want to make a mountain out of a mole hill, in my opinion while these inconsistencies exist and are problems, they arent incredibly major, nor so numerous that i could talk about them for 4k+ words or anything of the sort.

This is simply what i feel about Arowfell. I think tommorow i am going to have my last thread with this game as a topic, covering both the sales of this game and the general trend of RT seemingly trying to attach the RWBY name to anything it can.

Wait. Something’s wrong. It’s too windy. Wasn’t he sleeping in his tent earlier? Why was he outsi-

Cardin startled as he opened his eyes, the world upside-down as he dangled from a tree branch. Even worse was that the tree branch he was hanging from happened to be jutting past a cliffside, and underneath him was the forest of Forever Fall, cloaked in the shadow of night.

The alarming thing was that, underneath the ropes tying him like a hog, he was clad only in his boxers. No weapons, no armor, just him and the very real dangers of Remnant. Seriously, he needed to get out of here and find his way back before the Gri- 

“Grrrrrrggr.”

His gaze turned directly downwards and met a pair of glowing red eyes. His throat dried up as a large vague outline peeked out of the treeline, a stalwart figure that only meant one thing in these parts. 

The Grimm. An Ursa. 

“Shit!” he couldn’t help but yell when the Ursa rose on its hindlegs, its attention clearly on him. Wiggling and flailing like a worm, he screamed to anyone that would listen, “Somebody. Anybody! Help!”

“You know if you keep screaming and moving, I might not be able to keep hanging onto this rope,” spoke a familiar voice.

Wasn’t that....

With dawning horror, Cardin lifted his gaze from the Ursa and spotted the last person he expected to see on the cliff. Peeking out from behind the tree he was tied to, Jaune waved his hand jauntily while holding his lifeline in his hand. 

No way. Jaune didn’t have the guts to do what he was threatening. This was after all Jaune, a doormat shaped like a person. Didn’t voice a complaint despite the humiliating things he’s requested Jaune to do in exchange for not telling Ozpin about the blond’s faked transcripts. Hell, even during this trip, he was always scurrying away and hiding in the most random places in Forever Fall just to avoid him. A clear bluff. 

Cardin gritted his teeth in anger and sent a sneer towards his fellow classmate.

"Jaune! When I get out of these ropes, I’m going t- AHHH!" Gravity suddenly took hold of his body, the ground closing extremely fast. His eyes closed shut as his screams rang through the night.

“Hurk.” A sudden resistance took hold as the rope around his feet pulled taut. 

Realizing he’d been given a momentary reprieve, Cardin opened his eyes once more and found the Ursa was a lot closer than he’d like. Its claws groped skywards trying to reach the tasty morsel just dangling out of its reach. A warbling discontent growl echoed from its maw as he felt himself being pulled upward towards the cliff edge and met the face of his tormentor once more. 

"I was really patient, you know. Ren said that bullies go away if you don't give them a reaction,” Jaune explained as he kneeled down to meet him eye-to-eye, the same innocent smile still plastered on - as if the blond hadn’t tried to send him to his death seconds earlier. "And well you just didn’t go away. So you thought to blackmail me instead.” The blond began unfurling the rope in his grip, Cardin belatedly realizing what his classmate was going to do again. 

“STO-!” 

He felt another jolt as he descended the cliff in freefall, screaming. Only when he felt the rope pull taut against his legs did he have the courage to open his eyes once again. He wish he hadn’t. He saw the metallic glint of the Ursa’s claws sail right past his nose, the wind of its swipes beating upon his face. He was so close to the abomination that he could smell it, a disgusting cloying mix of sugary syrup and iron. And within its eyes, he could see his brutal death reflected in its crimson hues. Even with Aura, you don’t survive an Ursa, even a Minor, without weapons and armor. "Stop lowering me Jaune! Pull me up! Pull me up! If you don’t, I’m going to-!” 

What was his stupid mouth about to say?! Threatening Jaune at this point? When Jaune was already willing to go this far?! 

“Jaune! Come on. We can talk it out! You know you can’t get away with this. I won’t say anything if you just st-"

"Oh. I am going to get away with this; I just haven’t gotten to that part yet,” Jaune grinned. “You know, I nearly died several times trying to find the most obscure places to hide, knowing that you and your team were looking for me, even after off hours." The blond rubbed his jaw with his free hand. “I even remember taking a couple punches for inconveniencing you too.”

The insane boy moved his hand away from his chin and snapped his fingers. “But now team CRDL has the reputation of being reckless explorers, breaking the rules to explore deeper into dangerous areas. Such a gunner, you. Even going out at night to prove your worth.” The blond sniffled a few times, hand wiping a fake tear, as if he were a proud parent watching his kid get an award. 

“Not a bad result from a game of hide and seek, right?” the blond looked straight at him, grinning.

How- Him chasing Jaune through Forever Fall was part of Jaune’s plans? How many steps was Jaune thinking ahead? How long was he planning all this behind his back? How deep was he in the other boy’s schemes?! He’d always thought it a joke when people said Jaune was a brilliant tactician, but....

Cardin shivered as he felt himself being slowly pulled upwards towards the cliff again. His blood turned cold upon seeing the expression that met him, Jaune looking like the very cat that’s found a mouse to 'play’ with. He wanted to say something more to Jaune, but the fear that he’d say the wrong thing and be sent plunging to his death stayed his tongue. 

“And well, as for me getting away with this...”

Jaune opened up a Scroll and revealed a screen displaying a live recording dot and a familiar blond figure talking to the rest of team JNPR at the campfire. 

Cardin could only stare at the Scroll in horror. 

"How?”

“You don’t have to ask where I got the body double. In any case when morning comes and roll call happens, everything’s going to think Cardin Winchester bit more than he can chew and never came back,” Jaune said solemnly. “Your team...well, your team will go on an ill-advised journey to avenge you and then disappear forever into the depths of Forever Fall. No one will ever find the bodies.” 

The blond held his chest with his free hand and closed his eyes, momentarily silent.

“I’m sure Beacon Academy will provide your families the appropriate remuneration.” 

This lunatic's going to kill him. And he’s not going to let off the rest of his team. His heart pounded like a jackhammer. Jaune’s seriously trying to kill him. This isn’t a joke. He’s going to die. He doesn’t want to die. No-

“Look Jaune. Jaune. Buddy. Friend. I wasn’t really going to tell Ozpin. Really. It-was-a-joke. And-”

“Yeah about that, I'll admit those forgeries weren’t my greatest work,” Jaune scratched his chin in bemusement. “They look good at first glance and even at second glance, but well it was my first time, and I might’ve overdone it when I realized it might give me a chance to meet my idol.” 

“But there’s no good excuses for poor work, and I really have a reputation to keep,” Jaune stated sincerely before looking at him straight in the eyes, expression as serious as death. 

This didn’t seem quite right. Wasn’t Jaune scared about being expelled from Beacon? When did this becom-

Jaune must’ve seen the surprise in his eyes because the blond laughed. 

“Oh. You were thinking Professor Ozpin would expel me for something like a fake transcript?” Jaune laughed, “After I made it this far? After showing I can learn and become a great tactician and leader? When there’s students from Beacon who’ve never been to any sort of combat academy at all? As far as I’m concerned...”

“He’d probably give me extra credit if he knew,” Jaune bared a toothy grin. “Cardin, the only reasons why I let you blackmail me was because I didn’t need to be known as someone who did shoddy work and that I didn’t want my peers thinking I cheated the system to get in. Even if I totally did.” 

“Wow. What a funny misunderstanding. But... well now we’re here, “ Jaune shrugged, “Though one of us won’t be shortly.”

His heart skipped a beat, alarm bells ringing in his head. His breath turned unsteady as he tried not to succumb to the growing panic and horror; he thought he had Jaune figured out, only to find he’d been provoking a complete psychopath all along.

“Look. Jaune. I won’t say anything at all. I won’t bother you ever again. I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll clean your clothes. I’ll clean your team’s clothes. I’ll pay y-”

“Your offer sounds really good,” Jaune held a hand up as he interrupted, “but I’m the type to get rid of trouble before it festers. I mean, if I get rid of you and your team now, I don’t have to worry about having my reputation smeared in the future. Don’t worry, Cardin. I’ll make sure you have company.” The blond began unwinding the rope from his arm again, “Bye Card-”

“NO! Please! I don’t wanna die. My mom and dad are waiting for me back home. Ihaven’tmade a name for myself. Please! Idonwanttodieireallywanttolive. illwalkyourdog. ill make pancak-” The incoherent blabbling wasn’t something he could help, the words forming faster in his head than his mouth could say them. The tears and nose dripped down his face and forehead as he tried everything to appease this demon from hell. Pride - who needed pride at this point -  just as long as he could stay alive!  

As he babbled continuously, the blond boy just hummed as if considering his words. 

“illbeatupwhoeveryouwant. illbeyourlackey. illfetchyouyourlocker. please don’t kill m-”   

“Hmmm,” Jaune tilted his head, “Okay.”

“and I’ll- Huh?” He couldn’t help but drop his jaw in surprise, his brain screeching to a halt at that simple single utterance. After all this talk about killing him, was- was Jaune seriously going to let him go? 

“Oh, you’d rather the Ursa have you? Well if that’s the cas-

“No!” 

The blond smirked in amusement. 

“Alright. I’ll let you go for now. But remember, if you speak a word about this or the other thing to anyone else...”

A tad embarrassing, but I did feel the urge to reread it again and I did bring it up...

Its not a soft, goofy and fluffy fanfic, its actually dark but I like it a lot with its more unique plot and execution...

It's Black Reaper by Vengfulfate over on ff.net

Its a RWBY AU fanfic, and... Uh, its kinda edgy, but I have caugh myself, in my mind, de-edgy-fying it. Like, every overly edgy moment and detail is toned back by like, 6 in my head.

But despite its edgy (and some cringy) moments... The plot of it is so interesting and I think its plot development is great - especially because theres not many fanfics like it.

So to go over the start (this is assuming that you've watched the first 3 seasons of RWBY (the only good seasons) to their ends)

The Fall of Beacon happens differently. Ruby is dating Velvet and is down in Vale instead of at the stadium, and when the Fall begins, they run into Neo, and stops her before she can use her Semblance to teleport to the ship Roman is on to break him out in time.

So he remains captive. Ruby then makes her way to Beacon and runs into Blake, Yang and Adam! That scene goes differently and Adam is captured, but not before he can throw his blade at Ruby.

This is where the fun begins, because Yang jumps to block it to protect her little sister, logical thing to do. But this isnt a cheesy happy story, so she miscalculates and gets herself impaled.

Then she fucking dies. But Ruby tried to save Yang with her Aura, which doesnt work as her own and Yang's aura turns on her

Ruby takes on Yang's Aura and Semblance. An emotion-based semblance, a semblance that makes her stronger the angrier she is.

And Ruby has no control over Yang's semblance as it is too strong for her, and she was never meant to have it. Take a Yang with a speed Semblance, an anger-based strength Semblance, and double the Aura reserves. Also make her unable to control her anger-based Semblance at all. That's Ruby in Black Reaper.

Queue Ruby getting angry at everything. Stuck in hospital? Mad. People get scared of her? Mad. Cant have a shouting match with Weiss? Mad. Getting hit in training battles? Almost kills Jaune. Banned from training matches? Mad. Mentions of the Fall or of Yang? Mad. This goes on for a year.

She keeps running off to the forest to fight Grimm to vent, until one day she instead ends up in Vale. And she kills a (likely) innocent faunus on the street, because it reminded her of when her sister died. Then she runs away from Beacon.

Months later, Neo finds her in Vale, they team up and break Roman out. And, Ive gone on long enough.

As I said! It is cringy at times and edgy a lot (especially in Black Reaper 1 *mild shudder*), but if you take a step back and look at the idea, the plot, and the storyline - its great.

Its also the one fanfic I keep wanting to reread every now and again, especially when Im feeling down. I dont know, maybe it just brings me back to the past? It was written... 6 and a half years ago? o_o

Sadly the Author got burnt out. I chatted with them privately and it was a mix of burnout due to character bloat (OC's that are pretty good) and feeling like they (the Author) had to give every single character at least a scene in every chapter.

So its abandoned... What's there is pretty good, or at least decent, I think.

As you can probably tell I like it a lot, despite how edge it can be (which I subconsciously dial back in my head. Gotta keep reminding myself that I do that if I want to try to talk about it objectively...)

The Vale Police Department had taped off the area, preventing any unauthorized personnel from entering the crime scene. In the alley between the Dust Shop and the jewelry store, a local human man; middle-aged, was murdered. There were many suspects, some say it was a hit by the White Fang, others say it was the work of the wanted criminal Roman Torchwick. Examining the corpse had confused detectives, while a visiting Huntsman, Qrow Branwen, had some ideas of who was responsible.

"This wasn't done by any of the White Fang," the seasoned Scythe-Wielder said, taking a quick sip of his whiskey. "they would've painted this place with their insignia. And this wasn't done by any of Torchwick's goons," Qrow picks up a vial of Dust, which would've likely been stolen.

"Then, you're saying," one of the detectives, a woman, gulped in dread at the third possible suspect. "i-it was done by...him?!"

"The Half Moon Killer," Qrow said, covering the victim's lifeless form with a grey sheet. "Brutal, grisly as any Grimm Attack, and the Vic," he pulls out his Scroll, "seemed to have been involved in some pretty nasty stuff."

"This is insane!" The lead investigator shouts, "This...This monster has been going around, killing people left and right! The only things we hafta go on are the gruesome leftovers and the vics were bastards! That pretty much labels any rogue Huntsman or Huntress!"

Qrow shakes his head, the mention of such people made him think of his twin sister, Raven. "Nah," the scruffy Huntsman dismissed, "even they have their own code, varyin' from person to person. Nah, we're likely dealin' with a lone wolf, someone who seems themselves as judge, jury, and worryingly, executioner."

Later that night, a grey-haired woman huffs, as she walked away from an apartment complex. She wiped the blood from her cheek, having settled some personal matters; murdering a former lover she thought committed infidelity. She didn't bother to hear his pleas of innocence, and she disregarded the fact that the 'skank' he was talking with...was his own mother! No, in her mind, retribution was in order...like always.

Delilah Deianira thought she had found the one, but it seemed fate has dealt her an unkind hand. The first was her former husband Sam, who proved to be a bit of an imbecile. Now, she had murdered her late boyfriend, Herc. Delilah huffed, as she looked at the time on her Scroll, knowing that she need to make herself scarce. The grey-haired murderess takes a right turn towards an alley, hastening her pace.

Then, she suddenly cried out in pain as her throat was slit; crimson liquid pouring non-stop from the wound. She looks down with widened eyes, horrified by how quick that was. Then, her attention turns to what appears to be a golden-furred, man-sized creature. Ocean Blue eyes gaze at Delilah with hatred, as if she was found guilty by some self-made judge.

"Murderer," Jaune Arc, The Ebony Knight, coined the Half Moon Killer by The Press said to the woman, and proceeds to pounce on his latest victim. Delilah let out a gurgled scream, as she was torn apart by the werewolf.

for the teacher/powers au what do you want the world to look like? Are ksq the only ones with powers or does everyone have a power like in rwby or bhnh?

on one hand I love the image of Karls powers being normal. Like, yeah he can mess with gravity so he became a physics teacher makes sense but the fact he can FIGHT?? The fact he's super commitment and basically a hero? (I don't think I want "superheroes" to exist as like a job in this world if everyone has powers. There aren't super villains just criminals) His students absolutely lose their minds during some where they realize or someone sees him doing good in the street or something. Imagine finding out your teacher is an accidental vigilante.

also leads to some dialogue where in an emergency with a student *grabs their face* "[Student], I understand that, as your teacher, I have no right to ask you keep secrets for me. It pains me knowing I am breaking every moral rule I have by asking you, begging you, please for the love of god," *starts using his powers to save them* "Don't tell your parents about this!"

I personally like the second one better!

I like the first one too! Students finding out he accidentally became a vigilante is hilarious to think about and sounds like really cool world building!

But, I just personally like the idea of Karl just having these powers randomly, maybe after becoming a physics teacher, and going "oh! I can use this in my lesson tomorrow about planets!"

Also, I really want to give Sapnap and Quackity powers as well! I just don't want to fall back on pyrokenises (fire control) and wings.

Maybe Quackity could have some sort of hypnosis or "silver tongue" type thing, where he can convince people to do things for him? Oh! Maybe he's a siren and if he gets wet, his skin turns to scales!

For Sapnap, maybe advanced reflexes, senses, and/or strength? Becoming a PE teacher would be too easy to accidentally reveal his powers so he went with home ec! What to expect from my crossover AUs

If you’ve noticed by now, I have 3 other AUs currently in production. They are Devils of Remnant, Avengers of Remnant and Colours of Justice. For anyone who’s new, here’s a brief summary for each:

Devils of Remnant is Devil May Cry inspired universe, chronicling the story of a Nephilim Ruby Rose and her fight against her adopted sister, Weiss Schnee.

Avengers of Remnant is a Marvel AU, featuring the Avengers training the newest recruits of Beacon Academy; the Defenders. Their mission is to protect the world from the threats of aliens, criminal organisations, demons and even the gods themselves.

Colours of Justice is an adaptation of the DCEU, mainly Zack Snyder’s original plans before the entire thing was scrapped. For the record, I don’t know what he had in mind, this more of my own spin on it.

Some of you are wondering if this is going to have any impact on Versus XV and my newly developing Shin RWBY. Well, not really. I’ll be devoting some time to each fic. One week I’ll focus on Versus, another week I’ll focus on Avengers, so on and so forth. Hopefully you guys like what I have in store.

Modern Criminal AU

Ruby Rose

She, like the rest of RWBY, is a high school dropout. She pursues a life of crime, being inspired by her sister’s. She romanticizes the idea of being a criminal though she shouldn’t.

In this AU, Summer is alive and well, so this Ruby does differ a bit from canon Ruby. She begins as a naive but very much capable girl. Though, slowly, she becomes more and more stressed with every obstacle thrown her way.

Weiss Schnee

Before the start of the story, Weiss was disowned and thrown out of Schnee Manor. She’s forced into having to survive on her own until she meets the girls.

She wants revenge against her father. She only joins the team because of it. She’s snarky and rude. Blake and Yang really only see her as a nuisance. Ruby tries to get her to come around and be a friend.

Blake Belladonna

She was originally in a different group of criminals. But, in her mind, the others don’t have to know that. She’s quiet, keeps to herself. When annoyed, she’ll lash out. She’s pessimistic as hell.

Despite her negative traits, she’s quite helpful when it comes to strategy. Their most successful jobs were because of her planning.

The others know she’s running from something. She trained and smart, she could just leave if she wanted to, but she won’t. She’s paranoid. They don’t know why. They want to ask but know she wouldn’t give a clear answer.

Yang Xiao Long

She’s always been a loose canon. She used to nag other kids on at school just so she could fight them. Summer tries to understand and talk to her. Yang can’t ever get herself to explain her actions. Especially when the reason for said actions is across the room.

Raven isn’t exactly Mom of The Year. Yang and her argue often. Because of the way Raven was raised, tough love is what she believes in.

Yang leaves home and becomes a criminal. She doesn’t even realize she’s following her mothers’ footsteps.

Jaune Arc

He’s in med school, just trying to make a living and get on with his life. Then he meets Ruby.

He gets involved in the group’s nonsense. Whenever someone is hurt, they call him to help. While grumbling “I could get arrested for this,” he patches up the girls and tells them to rest.

After Weiss, he’s Ruby’s best friend.

Nora Valkyrie

She’s an athlete in college, a social butterfly, and could kick your ass.

She also sits at the TV, watching an olympic athlete. She may or may not have developed a crush on this person she’s never met.

She was adopted by the Ren family when she was a toddler. She doesn’t know anything about her biological family, but she’s happy with her parents and brother.

Pyrrha Nikos

She is the olympic athlete Nora has a crush on.

She started out young and slowly became famous. Her neighbors growing up were the Arc family. She and Jaune became good friends. After they got older and went to pursue their passions, they’ve stopped talking as much, but they still talk whenever they can.

Lie Ren

The best friend and brother of Nora. He’s honestly so done with her shit, but he still loves her.

He’s in med school, working to be a nurse. He crosses paths with a certain blonde soon-to-be doctor. They grow closer and now Ren suddenly has this weird feeling in his stomach every time he thinks of Jaune.

Penny Polendina

Oscar Pine

Haven’t decided on much for him, but so far, I’m thinking he bumped into Qrow. Qrow was on an assignment for Oz. Oscar got so heavily involved that Qrow just had to bring him back to Ozpin. This is how he was introduced to the Ozluminati and RWBYJNPR.

He has a legitimate backstory, but I won’t be disclosing that just yet. :)

Ozpin

Also has a backstory I won’t be revealing right now! But I can share a few things about him; he’s a professor at Beacon college, it’s a cover. He’s heavily connected to STRQ and RWBY.

Glynda Goodwitch

She’s not a main character, but I think she’s worth mentioning. She’s the right hand woman of Ozpin. She is also a professor at Beacon.

Qrow Branwen

He’s the left hand man to Oz. He’s incredibly loyal to him and would do anything for him if asked to. He and Oz are in a relationship. Some would say becoming intimate like that would compromise their professional relationship, but it actually made them trust each other more. Maybe so much to the point that they’re weak without one another...

Evil Oz / Salem reincarnates AU?

I'm not super sure what to call it yet... info under the cut because I've been planning this one for awhile now.

Feel free to ask me any questions about it!

• The rules for immortality are different. Salem maybe ends up in a soul different from hers that is meant to help her learn and grow. Maybe Ozpin has to live forever to learn a certain lesson as well (trust? Honesty? Just based on something he is known for doing wrong... I'm not sure on this one yet.)

• Instead of a merge, the more dominant soul in the body will eventually gain most of the control. The other will start to struggle to be in control at all until they are just a voice in the back of the other's mind.

• Salem took control of most of her lives by force... she hated not being in control. Oscar was her youngest host, and she ended up thinking back on her children... so she is now trying to make sure he is himself, and trying to make sure he ends up the body's main soul for a change. Even a heartless monster sometimes feels bad when she realizes her next life is a child.

• Oscar can control grimm, but it takes time and practice. Salem's magic is also extremely powerful, so he struggles to hold it in now since he does not know how to control it at all. (She just really wants him to hit the point where he can control the hound.)

• When using Salem's power to control grimm, Oscar's veins temporarily turn red/black (it's a gradient of both colors)

• "Hello Oscar, I'm Salem. Now leave this sad little farm and go to my castle." "*loud screaming*"

• Hazel is the one to realize Oscar is the next Salem. He has her inner circle. She gained them in slightly different ways in her past lives.

Hazel: Ozma sent his sister into another kingdom, then staged her death and made it appear to be a murder to cause conflict between the kingdoms.

Tyrian: Salem wanted someone ready to kill and cause destruction when she needed it. So she offered him the opportunity to kill whenever he wanted (as long as he followed her orders and didn't kill any of her allies.. she always provides him with grimm or prisoners to harm) and for her to hide him away from the law.

Watts: He could make whatever he wanted and she would provide the materials, but in return he had to help her with technology anytime she requested.

Cinder: She was offered revenge. Salem explained what huntsman and huntresses truly are to her, and offered to help her become strong enough to take revenge on the ones who ignored her when she needed help the most.

Emerald, Mercury, and Neo all still followed Cinder.

Roman was actually hired by Ozma for that whole thing with the trains, along with Adam and the White Fang. Ozma chose to destroy his school like that KNOWING it would cause conflict.

• Ozma is immortal. His inner circle is not actually aware of what he is planning. He wants to watch humanity tear itself apart.

• Of course even if they learn of Salem's existence and unite, it still benefits him since they would be fighting against her, and he could use the tension to draw in more grimm and doubt between the nations

• Oz is ALWAYS subtly feeding Ironwood's paranoia. He hopes James will cause a war for him amongst humanity.

• STRQ originally, like every other huntsman and huntress, believed they were doing good. They had no idea Ozpin had been manipulating all of humanity and the academies just to do his bidding. Some "criminals" are truly innocent. They just stood against Oz in someway so they were wanted dead or alive. If he gets them alive he makes sure to make them regret even daring to stand against him... and of course he doesn't want word spreading.

• Raven left when she found out Ozma's true intentions.

• Tai just settled down with his family and is staying out of it. He figures he has time before the world ends, Ozma can't work that fast right? His kids would totally have time to grow up. (He was heartbroken hearing them say they want to go to Beacon)

• Summer actually discovered Ozma's plans, and was killed for trying to fight against him. She wasn't aware of Salem, so she stood up to him on her own.

• Qrow couldn't believe Oz was bad, not after everything he'd done for them. So he stayed around. Ozma has his inner circle tricked into believing he is saving the world.

• Oz still gave out his magic. Two watchbirds are very helpful after all. The maidens are human, the potential they have to cause chaos and destruction is amazing! Plus then the relics are hidden, so Salem CAN'T summon the gods.

• Jaune died. Pyrrha found out something was fishy when she was supposed to be getting the maiden powers, so she got out of the transfer machine with her semblance when she and Jaune realized. She started out fighting Ozpin, but Jaune ended up taking her place because he had the big shield and told her to go warn the others about what was going on.

• So after the fall the group still travels on, just now they want to get the relics AWAY from Oz and to a safe place. They join up with Oscar + Salem's crew eventually

The lamp is the reason Qrow turns against Oz. When they ask what he is hiding the backstory reveals how he began to hate humanity with time, and the joy he took in watching them fight and destroy each other. Qrow is shattered by the truth since he was supposed to be the one hunting the kids down, but he then decides he has to protect them... and apologizes for not believing them.

Oz still has the upper hand though. Salem only has the fall maiden (the one with the hardest to find relic anyway), some henchmen, and a bunch of children. Oz has humanity already starting to argue and nations not trusting one another, plus the academies at his command. Atlas is going nuts because Ironwood is much more paranoid since Oz has been feeding into that.

• Leo did actually still have connections to Salem. His family was sent to live in her castle for their protection, and in return he snuck her team into Beacon. She gave the orders in her old vessel from her castle. But she made her way there around the fall because she wanted her team out safely. It's not always easy for her to find new minions after all, and she didn't want to lose the fall maiden.

• She had a team in the school to try and figure out what Oz is planning, exactly how he tricks the students, and where the relic might be hidden.

• Leo ends up killed by Qrow (poor bird man), as he is one of Ozma's most loyal followers before he turns and considers what Leo did a horrible betrayal.

The Atlas arc goes EXTREMELY different. Penny is sent to actually hunt down RWBY and co at first, but when she sees it's them she doesn't fight them very hard. She doesn't want to take them... they get away, and encounter her again when they head to Pietro for Maria's eyes. She prepares to fight them, but Maria and Pietro quickly stop both sides. After a long explanation of everything, Pietro and Penny are on their side (since Pietro already could see something was fishy just from his work on the inside)

The happy huntresses recongnize the main cast as fugitives right away and absolutely love them. They weren't sure what these kids did, but placed more blame for the main groups criminal status on authority instead of the kids. The group was happy to have allies to stay with and work with behind Ironwoods back.

Monstra pulls up (Atlas was raised, unfortunately) and RWBY, NOPR, and Qrow are like "Yeah that... that is our ride."

There was definitely still some bloodshed in Atlas. Qrow almost convinced Clover of the truth... buuuut then Tyrian happened and Qrow had the same reaction...

Now the group can't leave Atlas because Mantle is struggling and Qrow and Robyn got arrested.

Oscar is kidnapped by Ozma. He is trying to learn what Salem is planning, where she is hiding the relic of knowledge, and where she is keeping now her two maidens. Out of Oz's inner circle, he chooses to trust Glynda to do the right thing since for obvious reasons, Hazel is not torturing him this time around.

Oscar's outfit is different this time. Orange is his main color, so he keeps the orange. Maybe he gets some sort of cape, but with long sleeves for the cold he tosses over his farmer outfit. He could be influenced by Salem since she is a part of him without realizing and maybe change the gloves to red, and have some red (or red and orange) on his cape. I'm not sure the exact colors yet. Basically though his little cape thing is a jacket that just... doesn't really go past the sleeves. It was the only thing I could think of that wasn't just another hood, and the cape seemed fitting because of Salem's subtle influence. (Oscar does not want to kill people, Salem has no problem killing people. She will forcibly take control of him if she feels he is in danger.)

Silver eyes work a bit differently here. They are basically angels, and their power works best on grimm. However, if they begin to truly believe a human is just as bad as a monster or see them in the same light (even without realizing) they can do a bit of damage to them as well (Maybe turn a bit of them to stone, blast off part of them, badly burn them, etc.).
