hey creloise nation how do we feel about how every character in has a carefully color coded wardrobe (bridgerton blues, featherington yellows) and cressida is almost always dressed in creams and pinks EXCEPT for two scenes

the scene at the ball where she is wearing what looks like a white gown with midnight blue sleeves and silver accents which is inline with what the other girls are wearing now that they know the queen is looking for someone 'sparkling'

and then in the scene immediately after where she happily skips over to eloise and eloise incorrectly accuses her of gossiping about penelope and colin

in that scene her outfit is a soft bridgerton blue that matches eloise perfectly. is it to emphasize the line she says about eloise finding a looking glass to find the cruel one? or is it to symbolize the effort cressida is putting into putting her (pink) past behind her and aligning herself with eloise (blue)?

BRIDGERTON SEASON 3 PART 2 SPOILERS

I personally think that gender bending a character such as Michael into Michaela is a good way of putting in queer plotlines into the show as long as they can figure out how to do it smoothly. While this is the way they've approached it, not everyone is happy while some still are. It's not that Michael is gone, he's just a she now. They'll still show the love story some people want, just maybe not the way they wanted it.

I do however think that they could have done other things to have lgbtq diversity in the show with female leads.

Something to keep in mind is that you can never please everyone.

Personally, I would have loved to see maybe Creloise but not as their end game. Maybe they have feelings for each other but keeping with Cressida's need to be married off they could have her taken away to be married in another city. Leaving Eloise with complex feelings but beginning to understand romance more, the want to be with another person.

Part of her whole story is feeling alone and wanting to marry while she can do she won't be alone. I think it would be an interesting way to also show her beginning to really have an interest in other people romantically and not just settle down for the sake of things. Which is personally one of the things I'm most nervous about.

And I know, someone's queerness shouldn't just be a launching point for a heterosexual plotline but she'd still be a bi icon in the same way and it would keep with the story in the long run.

If anything, to me it would make less sense and not be as exciting if there wasn't build up and a change in character on Eloise's end before her time.

I know she's supposed to come to love him after they marry, but I just don't see how an adaptation where they focus on love matches and not just settling down how it could be satisfying. Not just for viewers but for the characters themselves.

She deserves to start falling in love before settling down and her having something with Cressida is the saddest missed opportunity I've seen.

They could've even taken Violet and had her new story be queer. It would've been an interesting take! Instead of a brother of Lady Danbury, have her meet a beautiful cousin or sister. There are plenty of people who have queer awakenings as they grow older and she wouldn't be dependent on marriage to have children or a home anymore.

I imagine having her beginning to open up and find surprise in having her garden tended to by someone who really knows their way around some violets (if you catch my drift). It could be incredibly sexy and could even be an interesting way to show how maybe people pleasured others back then. Toys wise at least. They could get really creative with it as a subplot.

Especially seeing as it isn't canonically in the novels, she never really moves on or gets remarried. But if they wanted to change things up I can only see things going well for her. It would've been a good way to get diverse and not change up main story plotlines.

.. anyways cressida could always notice eloise reading something and tries to talk to her by either reading the same book or one journey jus offering the book “emma” (LIKE IN THE SHOW GUYS?!?) as a good read before she gets off on her stop OMDS and/or eloise always noticing cressida’s fashionable-ness for a fùckin 9-5 (yes cressida would be giving office siren absolutely) and maybe if the tables are turned, cressida is reading and eloise notices this and suddenly sparks up conversation bc she simply cannot shut her mouth (and replaying all the times she’s seen cressida in new outfits like the montage scene of anne hathaway in the devil wears prada LMFAO) n every tube journey they encounter each otha on, they go back n forth on their opinions on which eva book they’re reading atm OMGGGG n maybe on valentines one of them gives the otha a rose or a book before they get off SOMEONE RESTRAIN ME MY BRAIN IS WORKING OVERTIME 😭

1. Cressida story is sad but I think they are setting it up for more in the future, we had to care about her to also feel a little betrayed when she hurts Penelope the way she does by taking credit and then bribing her, the same way Eloise does and it ads to Eloise’s story of going back to her original friend and proves she still cares about her and loves her despite her upset at LW. People that shipped creloise I’m sorry I get it but that wasn’t going to happen. This story line was making friends with the long standing enemy and seeing why said enemy makes the moves she does. We understand her. It doesn’t mean what she does is okay. It also doesn’t mean how she is treated is okay. So hopefully there is a future redemption arc for her. If there’s not then all we can hope is her life changes for the better as a character, but also having shitty parents doesn’t excuse being horrible to people the way she was the first two seasons of the show, she is still a cruel bully even if we can now sympathize with her.

2. Colins confession at the end is not him going “I don’t have a purpose at all it is just you and being with you, because you’re an icon” I believe what it’s saying is his own ego and jealousy was the thing keeping him from fully loving Pen post LW reveal. He felt betrayed but also jealous at this success. This confession is him coming to her and saying “I was jealous of you, I love you but I felt inferior and I didn’t know how to love you in that inferiority, but I see now that you are a light that can inspire my own confidence in writing the way I perhaps helped you gain your confidence. If i am to live the rest of my life won’t the purpose of only soaking up that light and getting to love someone as incredible as you then I will be happy” he understands his jealousy now and sees that it is not a competition, there’s no need for envy. He can marvel in her being as incredible as she is and also love her for it and be inspired by her to follow suite in his own passions (which we see in the end with his book being done which he states he couldn’t have done with out her) this is romantic! This is beautiful! It’s a true partnership and it’s a man getting over his own fear of being insignificant next to a successful woman which is good. Is it feminist in nature? Yes absolutely! That’s not a bad thing. That is true to this story as Colin and Pen wouldn’t work if half of that relationship was Colin disliking Pen being successful and making her stop it because of that, then wanting to publish himself. That would be such a slap in the face for all she’s worked for. So I think it’s so beautiful that he admits to himself he was envious of her success and did not know what to do with it, but realize that he can admire and be inspired by her to achieve his own dreams if she could achieve hers.

3. I really think that Portia being attentive to Pen and not the others is a HUGE taste of their own medicine. We know Pen is overlooked, she never gets her mothers attention unless it’s negative, her own sisters essentially bully her and say rude comments constantly putting her down. Portia being the one to stand up for Pen now and also be attentive to her and show her she does love her does in fact help bond them together better. We see it in how she tells Prudence to make nicer comments, to not say things like that to her sister because “feathering tons support one another” is it true? No because we’ve not seen evidence of that towards Pen, which Pen does point out in that scene, but Portia goes on to prove her statement right. And the other two sisters have their own talks and issues in which they eventually work out. Prudence realizes she was the favorite and doesn’t like it when she’s not in the limelight of her mother’s affections. Thats selfish and she had to realize that, and what better way than to have Portia focus on Pen and leave the two sisters who have had years and years of attention to the sidelines for once. In the end it makes them realize that Pen was always right there, being clever and wonderful and sweet, they just never noticed her because their own mother chose not to notice her either. This was the rebalancing. And it worked perfectly.

Nicola Coughlan is the it girl of 2024 but ruining relationships and characters in Bridgerton in order to make her character the sole focus was not the fan service move to make.

1) There's plenty of amazing posts about the absolute horrible writing of Cressida this season. It's so confusing to tell us to root for her in part 1 only to expect us to be happy at her horrible downfall in part 2 with a shitty voice over of Penelope apologizing.

2) I love the writing of Polin's relationship but the final love confession of Colin stands out from all the rest and makes no sense to me. Why would Colin tell Penelope that if he has no dreams, he will be content and happy to be her husband and to love her. What was the point?? The only reason he said that is to flip the gender roles of Portia's sentence when she was telling Penelope that men have dreams. women have husband's. Is Colin's dream being loving his wife supposed to make him a feminist icon? Pen's only wish was partnership, established by her defying Colin's "I'll show you everything" and instead asking him to "teach her". She just wants respect. She kept telling him that his writing is good, why doesn't he genuinely follow that as a passion. It's not a competition, they can both be good? Now it feels like he said "I'll publish my manuscript, and if I succeed I succeed, if I don't it's okay I have my wife." Okay, but you're allowed to keep working on it? You don't have to like, give up? Aim high, aim succeeding. Writing can still be his dream, and he can still love his wife. They can co-exist. Benedict kept saying that love is not finite. Colin can love writing and love his wife. He can work hard on his dream and still support his wife's success with no jealousy.

3) Why did Portia only focus on getting closer to Penelope and not the other sisters. It was literally up to Pen to fund their ball to finally put a smile on Prudence's face. Singling out Penelope like that to shower her with love still outcasts her from the rest of her sisters instead of forging a family bond with all of them.

Cressida losing is not a win, Colin not having dreams is not a win, her sisters not getting motherly affection is not a win. What the fuck.
