Did anyone's creeproduction box came in damaged? My operetta finally arrived yesterday, and her box was smooshed on the righthand side, and parts of the box was torn, including the piece that held up her doll stand. Since I ordered it on pre-order from Amazon, I'm in a pickle with trying to figure out who I should contact and the best type of action in regard to it. IDK if I should return it and get a new one or like.... try contacting Mattel. Because the doll is fine, but I wanted to keep her displayed in the box idk

The neck issue
So after my Creeproduction Spectra review where I mention that a lot of the Creepro dolls have much shorter necks than their original dolls, I got curious and started taking dolls apart lol Here's what I found: the reason the Creeproductions have extremely short necks and slightly deformed neck holes and chins is...the dumbest reason you can possibly think of! It's literally that Mattel is using the wrong neck peg for their newest MH dolls lol. First, the evidence (in the form of screenshots taken from Ebay): G1 Frankie vs Creepro Frankie!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Original Frankie has a much longer neck with the head sitting right on top of the 'bulb' of the MH neck, while Creeproduction Frankie's head is placed much further below the bulb and her lower head is visibly deformed and..like....puckered? Around the neck? Visibly caving in on itself.
So, I ripped off my personal Creepro Frankie's head and compared it to an original G1 Spectra body I have lying around:
Tumblr media
The Creeproductions (and if I have to guess, some collector g1 dolls but not all) have a much thicker and lower neck peg than the originals, and it is literally pushing the heads down lower than they were made to go! Resulting in a slightly deformed head and a short stubby neck. To confirm this is the cause of the short necks, let's look at my Frankie on her original body:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stubby neck Now let's see her on the original Spectra body and a G2 body (which has the same neck peg as original g1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suddenly she has as much neck as any original G1 Frankie would have had! I imagine this is more obvious on some heads than others, but it's incredibly obvious on almost every Creeproduction to the point where I have been scratching my head for weeks trying to figure out why their lower heads seemed to be caving in like that! I think some if not most Skullector character dolls are safe, and I think most new Cleo dolls are fine? I think some of the Haunt Couture dolls are safe, if not all of them? I'm just kind od flabbergasted that this is the reason why I've felt like the Creepros have sort of stubby necks and slightly deformed heads- a simple problem that could have been easily avoided if people paid attention. Luckily I already prefer to rebody my g1 dolls onto g2 bodies I guess lol

Shiver's name wasn't put on the little pop-out backdrop with a trademark like on the original boxes and the other Creeproductions, but still appeared in the reprinted diary. Was this because Mattel had a trademark lapse (would also explain why the G3 version is named Tundra) or was it a graphic design oversight?

Got them in the mail today! So glad they're not wonky from what I can see anyway. Although that hair in front of Draculaura's face is bothering me, but I'm not taking them out of the box so whatever.

It’s not a big surprise that when I opened my totally legit: “Creeproduction Werecat Twins from Walmart”that they were not what I was hoping for (it was a slim chance, but I was still hoping). I did pay fifty for them, but after I saw the lower ratings for the seller i figured they were going to be fakies of some sort and I was unfortunately not wrong.
Anyways, enjoy the pictures I took of these monstrosities. They are heavy. They don’t feel like plastic. And I got two Meowlodies.
Tumblr media
Here is a close up of the face on the goofier looking one:
Tumblr media
Honestly, her eyes are printed clearer than some of the UV printed Mattel dolls.
She her shoes are elongated to “snap into” her stand and she has a spot in her back where her stand can kinda hook into:
Tumblr media
Here is her stand, again made from the same heavy material:
Tumblr media
Heavy duty. It’s like the stuff outdoor statues are made out of.
They also came with two umm…”brushes.”
Tumblr media
Welp, that was funny. I’m going to wash my hands throughly, and send them back. I should get a refund…I better get a refund.
They remind me a lot of the much smaller plastic Monster High Magazine Figures that were released. Fun if you like the weretwins, and wanted a big statue of them.

Hey um just a warning for anyone who wants to redress their creepro lagoona. Called mattel and they don't have any more in stock, not even arms to replace these. I'm absolutely devastated. They're sending me a refund, but im still absolutely devastated. Be careful please my fellow doll collectors! <3
(For anyone that cannot tell, the ball-peg material should NOT stretch and look like that. Now her arms don't sit as tightly and I'm afraid they will fall off)

Tutorial: MH Creepro neck and Arm fix
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Posting this here because I keep getting questions about how I've been fixing my MH Creeproduction bodies to look a little less janky! Most people already have these techniques in their arsenal (and can definitely do a better job than me) but I keep getting questions on Twitter about how I manage to fix mine so I figure I'd just post a tut on Tumblr that I can link to lol This is an add-on to my previous post about the neck issue with both waves of Monster High Creeproductions in addition to another issue where the Creepro arms cannot lay flat against the sides of the body. Tutorial below!
Supplies Needed:
-Shitty creepro body
-Some sandpaper, I've been using 320 grit
-Boiling water We're going to start with the neck since that one is pretty quick.
This is the neck peg to start with, compared to an original G1 neck peg- the section we're concerned with is the circular peg right above the neck hole:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Creepro on the left, original on the right) the Creeproduction peg is significantly thicker, which is causing the head to sit lower on the neck and cause the vinyl to deform. We're going to fix that by sanding the underside of the neck peg until it's much thinner, but not quite as thin as the originals (since original g1 dolls frequently have loose necks lol)
First you'll want to cut out a rectangle of sandpaper and fold it in half; this is both to make the sandpaper less flimsy and also because the folded edge is good for sanding nooks and crannies.
Tumblr media
Now you're going to sand all around underside of the circular neck peg shown here, until that whole circular peg is thinner:
Tumblr media
Make sure not to use the folded edge of the sandpaper for this part of the tutorial, we don't want to accidentally carve into the "stem" of the neck peg and cause it to snap. I like to sand off a bit, try the head on and then sand off a bit more if it's still not sitting as high as an original MH neck would. Make sure you're heating the heads prior to removal or you might break the neck peg. And also chop off that stupid hook on the top of the circular peg, it does nothing but cause misery lol This is typically what it looks like when I've sanded it as much as I need to for most dolls:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(after on the left, before on the right) Some characters have heads that sit much higher on the neck originally (like Spectra) so I'll sand off a lot more for them, but ymmv.
Now onto the body!
So, this is the Creeproduction body as-is:
Tumblr media
This is the flattest I can get her arms to her sides. Some creepros can get them flatter, but not by much. Original G1 body arms already tend not to lay flat enough in my experience, but Creeproduction bodies are even worse lol We're going to fix that with sandpaper and boiling water! Provided below is an illustration of the general places that we are going to sand:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The notch under the ball joint of the arm, the area directly below the armpit and a tiny bit of the round area on the underside of the upper arm. We're going to sand a little off of each section.
For the notch in the arm, you're going to use the folded edge of the sandpaper to carve out the notch until it's a bit deeper than previously.
Tumblr media
No, it's not pretty! Thank you for noticing lol
Next we're going to sand the armpit area, using the other edges of the sandpaper because we don't want to dig into the arm at all accidentally:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As well as this rounded area of the arm , not too much but enough to make it just a little flatter:
Tumblr media
I left it raw to better show exactly where I'm sanding; most of the visible sand marks will disappear after washing but you can clean it up more with a finer sandpaper when you're done if you want. I'm just too lazy to do that lol
After all of that, your arm should sit more or less like the arm on the right (left unsanded for comparison)
Tumblr media
Much better, but not quite there yet!
Modern G1 bodies have vinyl upper arms that are easy to manipulate with heat, so in order to get them as flat as possible we're doing to boil and reshape them. I like to boil my water in the microwave, and then dip the entire upper torso into the water until the arms are super pliable. At this point I will pull them out, pinch the arms right up against the body with my thumb and forefinger and then run them under the tap until they set. Your final result should look something like this:
Tumblr media
And that's it! Hope that helps lol
Some shoddy before and after photos lol:
