It is finished!

A Little Bit of Trust, by @creatorofuniverses and @neonthewrite!

This is the first book I ever typeset, back last July or August, when I first started learning how to bookbind. In fact, the entire idea of learning how to bookbind was initially so I could have this series on my shelf.

However, due to it being a very thick book (624 pages!), I put actually finishing it on hold for a bit while I got more confident in my skills.

AND NOW IT'S DONE!

The front cover art is by @ghostlycreativeactivity, and the back cover, endpapers, and internal illustrations are by @creatorofuniverses.

The spine is hand-painted. As I expected while doing the last one, it's much easier with a teensy brush.

Because this book is my first typeset and has waited so long for me to finish it, I have learned a lot since I typeset it, and as such I'm re-doing the typeset before I make the author copies. I'm also going to make myself another copy. So this one ended up being sort of a practice book, which was rather freeing as I experimented with how I wanted to do the cover, and made a book with mull and tapes (support for thick books) for the first time.

I also decided to use the miscolored endpapers and covers for it, from when the printer ran out of ink while I was printing.

Wake-Up Call

As I am not Oscar’s mom, I didn’t feel like I could do this right with the Adopt Oscar AU, so I did it for the Shiver AU instead! Hope you like it anyways. ^^

The first thing Sawyer noticed was the cold. It was chillier than it usually was when he woke up. Especially, he remembered, since he had fallen asleep on Charlie’s couch the night before. The human always made sure he had a blanket, so why did he feel like nothing was covering him at all?

He opened his eyes blearily. Everything looked weird, and at first he couldn’t figure out why. Things were exactly as they usually were- the TV on its stand, the coffee table, the overflowing bookshelves. They just looked closer than usual.

Sitting up, Sawyer rubbed his eyes, willing everything to snap back to normal. It didn’t happen. “What the hell?” he mumbled, looking around with growing confusion. The furniture didn’t just look closer, it was closer… and smaller… and viri-sized.

That or, Sawyer realized with a bolt of shock, he was <i>human-sized</i>.

I particularly like Colfax in Sawyer's clothes. They are not remotely the style he would pick for himself, but they're the closest thing available to a properly fitting outfit, so that's what he must wear

Some doodles from the size swap AU, which… I don’t think we’ve ever actually mentioned anywhere…

Wow, awesome! Time for a new AU, everybody! Here’s the quick and dirty premise:

Size swap AU takes place in the ALMT universe, after the events of the canon story. Through some unknown, likely meta means (seriously, even we don’t know) the viri wake up human sized and the humans wake up viri sized.

Cue total confusion.

After some rough awakenings (mostly on Colfax and Sawyer’s part), the four of them wind up together at Sawyer’s apartment (thanks to Adrian and Charlie having more of their shit together, as usual). At some point it’s decided that groceries need to be obtained and, being human sized, the viri are the only ones who can go do that. Of course, they can’t go walking about in their viri clothes, so they have to borrow Charlie and Sawyer’s. Oh, and they have to ride the bus, and successfully use Sawyer’s debit card to buy food. Good thing Charlie wrote them an extremely detailed (if relatively tiny) list of directions.

Good luck, viri! Your humans are really hoping you come home soon, because they’ve realized they’re stuck on the table with no way down. Oops!

GtWAC Day 13 : 3 Different Genres

Clawing my way to catch up (We late late, but we WILL finish) 😭

Today's Prompt is Fic Recommendations in 3 different genres💕

First up is an INCREDIBLE work of Adventure Fantasy : Wick's End

@eightyuh Does an a phenomenal job taking a wild and unexpected concepted and pulling it together into a poignant metaphor. While Wick's End is full of hilarious moments, the comedy never seems to overtake the weight that the story carries. While we can laugh at Glen's expense, there is something deeply relatable and vulnerable about him as a character, making it so easy to feel for him and sympathize with his predicament.

Frankly all of the main cast has incredible premises that are both so out there, yet when shown in the context of their world they feel at home. It's something about the combination of the characters being real enough that you're able to both laugh at them, but also take their issues seriously- A dog struggling to understand human society is a fun and hilarious concept, but theres the weight of his realness?? The wanting of acceptance when others can't see him for what he is??? Like the skill to pace a story where the reader can bounce from laughing to feeling swept off their feet by the reality of their situation??

Each chapter has left me hooked and foaming at mouth for the next release- just ??? JGSFJKDGFKJ

I COULD GO ON FOR DAYS???

NEXT UP IS THIS ABSOLUTE GEM OF A OF A SCIFI HORROR SHORT- ANOTHER GTWAC CREATION TO BOOT!!! I read this a few nights back and was on the edge of my seat!! I absolute love the voice of the main character. @creatorofuniverses writes Casper in a way that genuinely makes them feel like a person I would know. They really do feel like you're everyday person got shoved into the widest job, and I am HERE for it. Without spoiling too much- I LOVED the creature descriptions, both aesthetics but also the mannerisms??? My gosh it just left me feeling so on edge??? Just such a great concept executed in a truly fun yet tense way! I would love to see more of Casper if you ever decide to use the premise as more than a short 😭💕

Finally we have the category of Dark Romance, with none other than @bittykimmy13 / @kendsleyauthor and their amazing fic The Clandestine Queen. Now this made for a wonderful read!! The premise is both so unique and also so uneasy??? There's a palpable tension throughout that just scratches something deep in my brain. Fantastic dialogue, wild premise, and a wonderfully competent female lead?? What more could a gal want? The interactions between Lorelei and the much more cold Andres are truly Dark Romance Magic (especially in the follow up piece) 😭 This just ticks every box for me and I cannot recommend this highly enough. The style of writing is captivating, the characters are intriguing, and the premise wonderfully unique!! The delivery from @kendsleyauthor as always never disappoints!!💕

Do your characters have human height equivalents? (Ex. How tall would they all be if they were the same size?)

thinking about this one with the trust boys and Bowman

at their current scales, Bowman would be the shortest, smaller than even wee Charlie, but at equivalent scales... would he be the tallest? Or just close to tallest?

Oh this would be a fun comparison. Because Bowman, on a sprite scale, is the equivalent of about 6'2". He's a tall boy for a wood sprite! Tragic that that means 4 inches tall in real life. However, if they all stood at the same scale somehow, he'd be pretty much on par with Sawyer, I think. A bit shorter than Colfax, but with more lean muscle definition. Plus his wings would be so big!

Super late to this, I know but better late than never.

Firstly wanted to shout out @creatorofuniverses Spirit of Adventure and its sequel Winter of our Discontent which I’m linking bellow

Any murder mystery lovers out there? These are the fics for you! The story follows Nettle a viri (basically a borrower) who can speak to ghosts. Imagine what happens when he gets roped into helping a bunch of cops with a case they thought was open and shut but is way more complicated than they could have ever anticipated. Add in Sheila, Nettle’s ghost friend AND BEST GIRL and you have a fun time.

Love rereading this one it’s just a fun take on the typical tiny gets found by human scenario and god I love Nettle so much. Like he’s tiny but he’s not gonna take shit from anyone, he has so much sass in him I love it. Please go read it!
