Going to the Moon Palace was nothing short of a terrifying chore in Shift's opinion. But even they are not so foolish to ignore the call of the highest god in all of Creatia for too long.

They appear on the screen of Moonbeam's phone, smiling that wide jackal like smile of theirs. "H H HEllO. MooNBEAM."

It stares down at its phone, one long tentacle turning it over thoughtlessly. It speaks in turn, "Make your presence fully known, little god."

Although Shift does not want to leave the safety of their little digital realm, they nod and send themslef into Moonbeam's computer, an old thing that barely works but works just enough for them to crawl out of it. Their tail lays flat against their legs. They bow their head as they approach it. Slowly, it forms into something slightly more palatable, though, like Shift, it will never fully be able to take on the form of a native Creatian.

It is taller than Shift is, towering over them and staring down at them with swirling blue eyes.

"You play with fire, little god. I do hope you understand how your actions may affect you later on down the line." It says, passively, though whatever it truly feels is all but indistinguishable to Shift. They look up at it, but don't meet its eyes.

They know better than to look in its eyes.

"I would like you to understand something, little one." Moonbeam says, crossing over to them and wrapping an icy cold hand around their wrist. It makes their skin crawl, and they have to resist the urge to pull away. "I will tell you this, and I advise you to remember it."

Moonbeam smiles, a mouth full of too many teeth that stretches well beyond what any normal mouth possibly could.

"Not all gods are created equal." It dissolves into harsh laughter and allows their wrist to drop. It laughs harder when they grab their wrist and rub at it, trying their best not to scowl at him. When it speaks, its tone is sharper. "Put those emotions to the side, little technology god. Your face betrays you. If you wish for power, you will learn to control that part of yourself. You have not the power enough to pick fights. Now go. And think about what I've told you."

Shift grits their teeth and then they bow to it. "Ye YES MOONBEAM. TH THA THANK YOU FOR YOUR. ADVICE..."

They walk back to its computer and press a hand to the screen and pull themself back into it and travel to their version of 'home.' It only takes about six minutes for them to break every single plate they have against the ground.

Deserts are... Mm. Where am from, they exist but have never been to them. There is other land, called Barrens, actually. They are more severe, ah... Very. Dusty. Something to do with over farming the land, though am not educated much on these areas other then they are dangerous for Creatians.

One might begin to wonder if life is there too. Just unseen or unrecorded.

Also since most Creatian gods come in pairs I've been trying to figure out who the opposite of Lytchi (goddess of luck) is. She reigns over both good and bad luck, so I've been struggling.

But I guess the opposite of relying on luck would be relying on strategy maybe? Maybe a war god? Or smth like that. Idk! Feel free to lmk if you have any ideas!

Shift and being the youngest god, autism, and poor socialization.

There's a lot of nuance when it comes to Shift, more than they like to let people in on. Shift is 219, which, for a god (especially compared to the others that are more or less ageless), is quite young. A human equivalent to it would probably be about 19 or 20. Dipping their toes into adulthood but still immature, especially when you consider their socialization or... Lack there of.

While, as a deity, they aren't exactly bound to human, or creatian in this context, ideas of neurotypicality it should be noted that the way they are written (by me, also an autistic person), is meant to not shy away from their autistic traits. They struggle a lot with things such as misophonia, self-harmful stimming and aggression. They are also more easily influenced by outside sources than your "average" neurotypical person.

Their actions or more often reactions to stimuli that is distressing to them often makes people consider them to be extremely immature or even downright childish. This isn't to say that their actions should be excused, especially when they harm other people, but in order to be able to find better coping mechanisms and grow as a person they shouldn't be demonized, either.

Bringing their lack of socialization into the conversation, Shift spent very little time with other gods or with other creatians. They had no model to look to on how to behave, and kind of had to make it up as they went along. The government of Creatia denies their existence, half the gods want them contained somewhere and the other half ignore them outright.

Although in more recent years they've managed to start sort of... Well, infohazarding their way into the lives of more Creatians, rarely are they able to really make any sort of meaningful relationships with them because... Well, honestly? They get very overstimulated very easily because of that lack of socialization as they "grew up." Without learning proper coping skills to learn how to deal with things such as their misophonia or aggression or lack of understanding of most social cues, when people act in ways they don't understand or do things that they find upsetting they just melt down because... They were never taught how to get a better handle on their emotions.

Shift also has speech difficulties, another thing that makes people take away their agency! They stutter, repeat themself, and talk a little too loudly. Many people find this off-putting from the get go, even if it's entirely harmless.

To close I just want to say that if your muse has thought that Shift is immature or childish or annoying or ANYTHING... That's totally fine! I'm not trying to attack anyone in this post, ic doesn't equal ooc, and I'm not offended if even ooc you don't like Shift! We're all just playing elaborate pretend on the internet! I'm just posting this because I think it's interesting to explore Shift as a character not as like, a callout haha.

Nolis was born in The Wilds, shortly before they were effectively shut off from most creatians. When he was seven, his father died of the Pestilence and when he was fourteen, his mother died in much the same way. Nolis was taken into Noveau, the capital city of his territory of Creatia.

Eventually, he went to college and met his wife, Saylin, who was actually the one who pushed him into applying for Surgeon's School. He was accepted and shortly after his acceptance, they found out Saylin was pregnant.

After their daughter was born and Nolis was taught what a government surgeon also does outside of transplant surgery... He tried to escape with his wife and daughter back to The Wilds. He was caught and forced to perform harvesting surgery on Saylin, killing her in the process.

He tried again one year later to get just his daughter out, but was caught again. This time, he didn't have to kill. Instead he was forced to give up his daughter to The Official, the highest government official, to raise instead of raising her himself. He agreed so she would be allowed to live, and now lives with the constant threat of if he were to go against the system again... Well, it might be his daughter's blood on his hands.

some of the gods are better at taking on human appearances than others. the celestial gods, Moonbeam and (RIP) Daybreak are/were by far the worst at it because they are so disconnected from Creatians.

Fauna, the God of Animals, is the best at it, given that Creatians are animals, of a sort.

The other nature based gods are decent at it, but there's always something uncanny about them in some sort of way. Except for Fauna, if you don't know they're a god... Well, you could very well be surprised. :3
