Day 311 of 14, 600 Art Meditation, March 11, 2023 ‘Ocean and the Abalone Shell Heart-Art Bundle’

Is this a piece of Synchronicity? As I sit down to write, my music is streaming a piece of music called “Anne’s Theme” by Hagood Hardy... And there are tiny musical phrases in it that sound like Kermit the Frog's song “Lovers, dreamers and me”. (Too boot.) I’m so good at normalizing things and people who are bad for me that I question the good things. Wow, that was an amazing musical moment - thank you Universe, I feel connected to my heart now …

Posting more abalone shells from my Ocean and the Abalone Shell Heart-Art Bundle - vector art and the printed pages.

I print my designs out on my desk because there is such an incredible texture from the paper - the view is different. Printing it helps me tap into my 6 senses more - I can feel, touch, see, even hear when I flip the pages together like a book. The intuition 6th sense is the way the art arrived, and how and why I expand it …

I want to collect all the abstract abalone shapes, like precious objects, the same way I collect sea shells or stones at the ocean.

Why not have many Center art pieces, aka logos ¿ — I get to make up new rules and more shells means more new art.

As I write this about sea shells, and look at some of the beach and stone photos I’ve taken over the years, I realize everything has the potential to be designed into, and create Heart-Art Bundles out of.

And that makes me so happy. Every day I get to and you get to create NEW and MORE beauty. Every. Single. Day. Anne

Redux-form handleSubmit: How to access store state?

In a redux-form handleSubmit function, which makes an Ajax call, some properties from the Redux state are needed in the Ajax (e.g. user ID).

This would be easy enough if I wanted to define handleSubmit in the form's component: Just call mapStateToProps to pass in whatever I need, and read it from this.props in my handleSubmit.

However, like a good React-Redux developer I write separate view components and containers, so my view components can be simple with little or no behavior. Therefore, I want to define handleSubmit in my container.

Again, simple - redux-form is set up to do that. Define an onSubmit in mapDispatchToProps, and the form will call it automatically.

Except, oh wait, in mapDispatchToProps there's no way to access redux state.

Okay, no problem, I'll just pass the props I need into handleSubmit along with the form values.

Hmm, wait, it is impossible to pass any data into handleSubmit using this mechanism! You get one parameter, values, and there's no way to add another parameter.

This leaves the following unattractive alternatives (of which I can verify that 1 and 2 work):

1 Define a submit handler in the form component, and from there call my own custom submit handler function passed in from mapDispatchToProps. This is okay, but requires my component to know some props from the redux state that aren't required to display the form. (This issue is not unique to redux-form.)

Or, more concisely, this can all be combined into an arrow function:

Then to make this handler completely agnostic, it could just pass the entire this.props back to the custom handler:

2 Define onSubmit in mergeProps instead of mapDispatchToProps, so it has access to stateProps. Dan Abramov recommends against using mergeProps (for performance reasons), so this seems suboptimal.

3 Copy the state properties into redux-form fields which are not mapped to any input controls in the form component. This will ensure they are accessible in the values parameter passed back to handleSubmit. This seems like kind of a hack.

There's got to be a better way!

In the next few days I am planning to create a Coffee, oil, shampoo and spritz. First I will do a Rice Water rinse, followed by a Coffee rinse, then shampoo and finish off with the Coffee oil. It’s All About Who You Know

It started with my neighbor named Cindy Jo,

whose lawn I used to mow,

who later taught me how to make flowers grow.

 I learned to plant Marigolds on my front patio,

three weeks later I had new Cosmos to show.

Jo was very impressed, she wore a great glow,

she told me I must meet her friend Lo.

Lo needed help because her business was slow.

 I had a new job, 6am I had to wake up and go.

I smiled, I worked with passion, enjoying life’s ebb and flow.

 Now 55 years old, with a shop of my own, still learning what there is to know.

Waiting patiently for Spring as I sit and watch it snow.

Thinking of the flowers that changed my life, the people that I owe.

Remembering how it all started with Cindy Jo.
