The best thing about glass jars is that they’re versatile enough to use in a bajillion different ways. Someone asked me the other day what I used jars for, so here is a brief list of my top 10 favorite uses, in no particular order: 1. Storing bulk ingredients in my cupboard 2. Holding restaurant leftovers 3. Temporary compost bin while I’m out and about 4. Water bottle 5. Coffee cup (when wrapped with rubber bands) 6. Freezing liquids 7. Storing my root vegetables/greens so they don’t wilt 8. Wine glass 9. Holding oat milk 10. Takeaway smoothie/juice cup What I don’t use a jar for: 1. Holding 5 years worth of trash because no one needs that kind of pressure in their life (if you have one and you genuinely enjoy having it, then by all means keep it up!) • Did I forget any good uses for glass jars in this list? Fridge storage A nifty way to keep loose, package free carrots fresh is to cut off the greens & store them in a jar of water. "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."  - Theodore Roosevelt . Lowering the waste you produce doesn't have to be expensive. Repurposing things you already have is an easy way to avoid single use plastic and other packaging. ☺️ . We keep jars of all shapes and sizes and use them to: - keep leftovers - store loose food from bulk stores - carry snacks - freeze excess sauces, milk and food (just make sure you leave plenty of space in the jar) - store diy beauty & cleaning products - get a takeaway hot drink or snack on the go . It's also better for the environment than buying new products. Subtle reminder that you don’t need to go out and buy all the new #zerowaste gadgets and gizmos in order to live a sustainable lifestyle. Those fancy reusable coffee cups could easily be replaced with a mason jar and rubber bands (preferably ones you’ve been hoarding from produce bundles 😂). My boss was going to throw away some small blue glass jars so of course I offered to take them off his hands 😂 and now, instead of using up energy getting processed and recycled, they’re being used for my bulk goods like #organic corn starch. If you were to ask what my number one #zerowastetravel essential, it would probably be one of these babies: a glass jar. While I’ll often bring a regular mason jar, this one was a bit lighter and easier to transport. Jars are perfect as a last minute water bottle, for grabbing drinks to go, for holding #compost, for your restaurant leftovers, and sooo much more.
