Panja is a weaving technique from Haryana in India. It is mostly used for weaving light rugs called dhurries. It gets its name from a claw-like tool called panja which is used to beat the weft threads into the warp to adjust them there. Panja rugs are famous for their lightness and portability. They are made from cotton or wool or jute. The designs are usually geometric. In the past, when these rugs adorned the palaces of Rajasthan the designs were more elaborate and resembled Persian rugs, however, over time as demands increased and rugs became common for household use, the designs simplified into the distinct geometric form they are recognised for today.

Antler 'King' Chessman, 12th Century CE, from Habrough, North Lincolnshire Museum, Scunthorpe
Chess originated in India where the king was shown mounted on an elephant. The two steps on the front of the Habrough king represent the elephant's forehead and the howdah in which the king rode.
Kindly loaned to North Lincolnshire Museum by Habrough Parochial Church Council.

Well Crafted Hop Monger Hazy IPA (Picked up at their location in Lansdale, PA). A 3 of 4. A really nice hazy IPA with a lot of tropical fruit and lemon going on in the nose, with some candy-like citrus, too. The body is decently bitter towards the finish and quite well-balanced.

Ode to Indian Culture
The land where rivers flow like a grand parade, Wisdom whispers softly, in the winds that cascade. Colors of festivals paint the sky so bright, From Diwali’s glow to Eid's crescent night.
The scent of spices wafts through bustling sights, Each corner tells a tale where history writes. Silk saris swirl in hues of dusk and brown, A dance of traditions waiting to be found.

Spring has never been this beautiful. New experiences, new places. We went to National Crafts Museum for a walk through of a Brocade exhibition. Former director of the museum gave us a very interesting insight into how museums are laid out the way they are; a 3D contemporary artist shared how she takes inspiration from the Rigveda and a celebrated artisan from Banaras told us about his craft. A serene day, amidst carefully curated crafts, us clad in sarees, with our henna stained fingers.
