No. 4 - @bissellbrothers Our time here was definitely memorable! We hung out in the loft at Bissel Brothers, which is a cool space that can be reserved for private events! It was neat to see all of the brewing equipment from a different angle, and we discovered some fun little figurines that were hidden in random spots up there. Perhaps our biggest disappointment was that we didn’t show up hungry, because their food looked great!! But after sipping our beers we left happy! #Repost @homebrewedhero_dmv I had an extra packet of @whitelabsyeast WLP510 Bastogne Belgian Ale yeast and some extra @yakimachief HBC472 hops on hand, which I gave to a friend and fellow #homebrewer to try. And boy am I glad I did 🤩. My buddy adapted the ingredients into an extract-partial mash pale ale recipe. The result? Amazing ☀️🙌. Genuinely impressive! It’s has so much of the Trappist Orval character from the WLP510 yeast. And the HBC472 created some of that iconic herbal character and moderate bitterness. The brew is also very dry in the best way and is appropriately highly carbonated! Now I need to have him make this again but using Hallertau and Styrian hops and of course brettanomyces. 👍 . I’ve actually never used brettanomyces in #homebrewing. Subtle hoppy presence, but very fleeting compared to the malty layer. Golden and translucent. Very clean presentation with a white minimal head after pouring. Semi sweet, bready and floral.
