The Roswell UFO Playground
Introduction:
Hello Ghoul Friends! This week’s topic is on the infamous Roswell UFO Incident. This week, I thought I’d do a report on something that happened in July, and something other than ghosts and demons. This report might be a little different due to the topic, there will be more text in the history portion than the hauntings portion, much like the second ParaPlay report.
I would like to mention that I have started a new job, and due to some new time constraints, I might not be able to spit out a report every other week- although I will try my very best!
I would also like to mention that I’ve been thinking about making this blog available as a podcast, so you can listen to the reports on the go. This is something I’ve been considering greatly, and it will probably happen in the near future- so heads up!
Now that’s all out of the way, grab your tinfoil hats! It’s time for the Roswell UFO Playground!
History:
It’s the beginning of July 1947. Local Newspapers in Roswell, New Mexico have been running the same story since the end of June- people have been spotting flying saucers in the night sky. Could it be linked to the army base and air field nearby?
Many people still didn’t believe in the sightings, and mainly chalked them up to be fake news. However, tensions were still high- though people didn’t believe in the sightings, they still looked out for them, out of sheer curiosity. It wasn’t until July 7th, did people start believing in the news stories.
The date of the crash and discovery aren’t fully agreed upon. It is said that sometime in late June or early July did rancher W.W “Mac” Brazel found the wreckage of what he believed to be was a flying saucer. The wreckage was thought to be rubber, tinfoil, and heavy paper.
Tumblr media
(Pictured: Major Jesse A. Marcel with the debris found on Brazel’s ranch.)
In today’s terms, if I told you that I found tinfoil, paper, and rubber on my lawn- you would automatically think the debris was of a weather balloon. However, because of the recent UFO sightings in Roswell, and the coincidence of the whole situation, people didn’t buy the idea that what had landed in the Brazel Ranch was a weather balloon.
Upon finding the wreckage, Brazel reported the crash to the Roswell sheriff, George Wilcox. In turn, Sheriff Wilcox called a local Major at the local airbase. Major Jesse A. Marcel and a man in “plainclothes” appeared at the door of the Brazel family home and took the debris.
Following the confiscation of the wreckage, Major Marcel reportedly tried to re-construct the wreckage, and even tried to make a kite out of the pieces.
Yeah, I’m shocked too. The first thing this guy does is try to make a kite out of the wreckage. If I’m not mistaken, that’s damaging evidence, Major Marcel.
After the United States Government apprehended the evidence, the next day, an interesting statement was released to the public by the RAAF (Roswell Army Air Field).
“The many rumors regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the intelligence office of the 509th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disc through the cooperation of one of the local ranchers and the sheriff's office of Chaves County.”

People went absolutely ballistic when they saw the statement. Almost everyone in the state of New Mexico believed that aliens existed, and they were in New Mexico.
The day after the initial statement, RAAF releases another statement, this time claiming that the debris was from a weather balloon. They also released pictures of Major Marcel with the wreckage as proof of the weather balloon statement.
People became suspicious after the second statement. The excitement of the government detailing the wreckage of a UFO had sunken in, making it almost impossible for people to believe that it wasn’t a UFO. Releasing another statement, a day after the original one only increased the suspicion.
Recently, the United States admitted that the weather balloon story was indeed a cover. The wreckage was actually from spy technology. At the time of the crash, the United States was on the brink of the Cold War, and stating that the Roswell UFO Incident was spy technology makes quite a bit of sense.
However, many people still believe that the Roswell UFO Incident was extra-terrestrial.
The depiction of Roswell aliens is called Grey Aliens, or Roswell Aliens. Grey Aliens are what are depicted as aliens today. They have the green-grey skin, large bug eyes, small bodies, and big, elongated heads. This depiction didn’t seem to appear until 20ish years after the Roswell Incident when it was leaked that the government supposedly recovered an alien body from the crash.
In 2001, a man created a fake video that looked like the corpse of an alien from the Roswell crash. This video sparked national outrage and got worldwide attention. The creator of the video also used the Roswell Alien as the alien character.
Before the Roswell UFO Incident, aliens were widely depicted as humans in odd or funny costumes. They were also depicted as crab-like, skeleton-like, humans.

Sightings:
Today, people do report sightings in Roswell New Mexico. A website called UFOstalker.com gives viewers an interactive map to see what UFO sightings are near you. There is also a similar map on History.com’s website that details “UFO sightings taken seriously by the U.S. government.” This map also includes a few sightings in the United Kingdom, another active hotspot for UFO sightings.
Unfortunately, the sightings in Roswell today could be similar to a Bates Motel situation.
Bates Motel has racked up a large reputation over the years. The actual Bates Motel in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho is rumored to be haunted, but no one knows if this is true or not. People do report activity in certain rooms, but due to the media coverage and reputation of the hotel in the entertainment industry, the activity can be easily ruled as nothing.
This could also be the case for Roswell New Mexico. People do report seeing lights at night, but nothing like abductions, landings, and usually only a small group of people see the lights. Circumstantially, the other sightings seen after 1947 can be de-bunked. It seems that the Roswell UFO incident was more of a one-time situation, and rakes in tourism even though a large incident like that will probably never happen again.
And it’s no wonder anything like that would happen again, the world could have possibly learned of the existence of aliens, which is something the government probably doesn’t want us to know. The fame surrounding the Roswell UFO Incident could have easily scared off anything extra-terrestrial- if you believe in that.
The Re-Cap:
The Roswell UFO Playground has been deserted of kids for years.
In 1947, a family that lived next to the playground claimed that they witnessed the murder of a kid on the playground, and the remains were buried in the sandbox. Alarmed by this, government officials went out to the playground to investigate.
The official report as to what happened, or if the claims by the family were even true, was never released to the public. Many people believe the family’s claims, even though they were never truly confirmed.
The swings squeak when used.
The chief investigator did once comment that they found dog bones in the sandbox, not human bones, but no one believes them.
Years later, the chief investigator commented that the dog bone story was fake, and they had found a fossilized dinosaur egg under the sandbox instead. No one believed that either.
Media heard of the Roswell UFO Playground and spread the news of the story. The coverage made the Roswell UFO Playground a tourist destination.
Part of the playground is rotten, and kids are advised not to play on that side of the playground.
In the present day, many grown-ups and big kids go to the Roswell UFO Playground to see if anything truly did happen in the sandbox. Occasionally, people report finding small finger bones in the sandbox and buried around the field. These claims catch attention but are quickly debunked and forgotten.
In 2001, a big kid who visited the Roswell UFO Playground took a picture of a tiny, human skull, thought to be of the child’s. After national media coverage, the big kid finally admitted that the picture was fake.
The net on the basketball hoop is missing. The paint on the metal slide has been faded from the sun.
No kids have been spotted at the playground since 1947.

"Hi, love. It's day 73," You said to the camera as you stand on the top of the Marlboro Hills. "I'm here atop of the Marlboro Hills, and would very much like to share this moment with you."
"Wait here, I'll turn the camera around so that you can see the view even though you've viewed it a thousand times already," You turned the camera around so that it's facing the other way. You zoomed it in front of you, down to the beach with its clear water and white sand. You turned around showing the camera what's happening in your back. Tourists are all over the place clutching their scarves and hats just so it won't be caught in the strong wind. You laugh a little and faced the camera the other way catching the face of a man. A man, so beautiful with his curly brown hair and brown eyes. When he caught your camera, he smirked and smiled.
You quickly turned the camera away and turned it off. "Oh shit, oh shit," You muttered, quickly turning the camera off and facing the guy to apologize.
"Delete that footage of me, please and thank you," He demanded, so rudely that made you really not want to erase it just to spite him.
"I'm sorry, but if I delete it then the whole day would be deleted," You said, really guilty. But that son of a bitch just grabbed his phone and filmed you.
"HA! If you're not going to delete the footage then I'm going to delete mine," He said pointing the camera closer to you and zooming in on your face. "And what should I call you? Basco Stalker Girl? or Angry-Hot Basco Stalker Girl?"
You scowled to the camera and went to grab it, but he moved fast and ran away from you down to the start of the hill. "Hey! Give it to me!"
"No can do," He said turning to face you and walking backward but he tripped and fell leaving you to laugh at him like an idiot you are.
Seeing you laugh made Tom mad, with a glare and a scowl he stood up, dusted himself, and chased after you.
But, he couldn't catch up to you. You are already on your bike and laughing a little. You quickly drew a breath as you realize that your bike is quickly gaining speed. You quickly hanged your feet to reduce the speed and held the brakes. The bike soon stopped and soon enough, you are on the way to the hospital.
"Hey, Ang. How was he today?" You asked Aidan's nurse as the two of you met in the hallway and are walking towards Aidan's room.
"Nothing happened, really. Just a normal day checking his vital signs and stuff," She answered opening the door and letting you come in first. "Anyways, I got to go and check on my other patient across the hall. See you!"
You were greeted by the sound of the EKG machine which records his heartbeat. Nevertheless, you put your bag down on the sofa and picked up the portable DVD player from under his bed. You grabbed your bag and look for the disc containing the edited video from yesterday. You quickly found it and placed it inside the DVD player. The video quickly loaded showcasing your whole day yesterday.
"Hi, love. Here's the video from yesterday. Hope you like it," You said as you sat on the monoblock chair beside his bed and placed the portable DVD player on his stomach as the video started to play. You gazed lovingly at his face, wanting to see his smile again.
You never really lost hope when he fell into a coma. Sure, you have your guilt but you slowly learned to accept it. You, along with everyone around him never really lost faith in him. All of you believe that he would soon wake up and join you in your adventures around Batanes. That's what started the vlogs with your day and such. You would go around your day filming everything you can and showing it to him in hopes of him hearing it and maybe waking up because of those videos.
Tom, along with his tour guide for the day, stopped to eat dinner at the Esther Lie Restaurant. He walked inside and was quickly greeted with chatting guests and a cozy vibe that made him think of home. His tour guide, Paulo quickly pulled him in front of an upright piano.
"W-why?" Tom asked, confused, scrunching his face up and quickly looking around the room.
"The photographs, my boy," Paulo said redirecting Tom's gaze towards the photographs on the top of the piano. He saw old and new photographs in frames ranging from the late 50's up to the early '90s.
"Who are they?" Tom asked, his eyes gazing on the women from picture to picture.
"They are known as 'The Sisters of Basco' known for their expertise on cooking the famous kare-kare and coconut crab," Paulo explained, Tom listening to every word and nodding. Paulo then pointed to the photographs and explained each of them. "This is here, is Esther. She's the only one out of the two of them to get married. So, Esther married Stan and then they had a daughter named Cara and she married Anthony. That about sums it up, how about let's go sit and order?"
The two of them sat in a table for two, but Julie came out greeting Paulo.
"Paulo! How are you, my boy?" Julie said.
"I'm fine, mama Juls. Thank you for asking, though," Paulo said, genuinely.
"How about we go sit in a bigger table along with Anthony and Esther?" Julie offered. Tom looked at Paulo but Paulo just shrugged and moved to the bigger table. "By the way, who is this youngling with you?"
"Oh, I'm Tom," He introduced himself. "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Tom. Paulo basically grew up with us. His parents are one of my friends and he was a close friend to my niece, Cara," Julie explained, leading them to the table. "Wait. Let me call my family."
While Julie went on to call Esther and Tony (short for Anthony). Tom was comfortable sitting in the chair, Paulo across from him.
"So, you grew up here, huh?" Tom said, looking around once more with the restaurant's floral designs with its brown floorings and floral decor, it really gives off that cozy vibe.
"Yeah, kinda. My parents are really close to Mama Julie and Mama Esther," Paulo explained while scanning over the menu before putting it down. Tom scanned the menu and immediately went hungry due to the pictures of delicious foods.
"So," Julie came back and sat down along with Esther and Anthony. Esther seating beside Tom and Anthony beside Paulo while Julie sat beside Esther. "What are your orders?"
A waiter then came taking their orders. While they were waiting, Julie engaged them in a conversation about Paulo. How he is such a naughty little boy and how they thought that Paulo and Cara will someday marry each other.
"Oh, Julie. You haven't even introduced us to this pretty boy right here," Esther said pointing at Tom.
"I'm sorry," Julie sheepishly smiles at Tom and he chuckled a bit. "So, everyone, this is Tom."
"Nice to meet you," Tony said turning around and giving him a handshake.
"So, Tom, why are you here? And please call me Mama Esther, everyone around me does." Mama Esther bluntly asked.
"Oh, he's here to produce a hit show for us," Paulo answered excitedly. "One that will make Batanes' tourist population grow."
"Is that right, Tom?" Julie asked him and Tom nodded smiling a little. "Oh, how amazing would that be!" she gushed.
"What are you planning to do, yet?" Tony asked him.
"I don't know yet," Tom answered honestly.
"Oi! Give him a break, he just came here yesterday," Julie said, making them stop with all those questions.
"Well, who do you think shall be your lead? Any ideas?" Mama Esther asked, clearly not listening to Julie. Tom pondered for a moment before reaching out to his back pocket and grabbing his phone.
"Actually, yes," Tom came to a conclusion. "But, I don't know her name. Do you mind if I show you a video of her?"
"Nope," Julie said, popping the 'p' sound. Tom leaned over and showed them the video of you, scowling at him before the two of you ran around the Marlboro Hills and before Tom's embarrassing fall.
"Do you know her?" All of them had their jaws drop, while Tom awkwardly looks into their faces.
"Why! That's my granddaughter!" Mama Esther said, a grin forming on her along with Julie.
"That's my daughter," Tony finally said, letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"Any idea where she is now?" Tom finally asked. Then, Julie points her lips to his back and Tom just raised his eyebrows, confused about her movements.
"There," Paulo said, pointing on Tom's back. Tom turned and saw you entering the restaurant. You greeted the waiters and went to your grandmas' table but stopped as you saw him.
"YOU, again?" Your eyes widened at the sight of him. "I thought we are done with each other?"
"Oh, you again." Tom sighed.

Well my friend and I decided after our failed BDR debacle it was time we redeem ourselves. We set out from Riverside popped on to Hwy 38 after slabbin it on the freeway for a bit...Im buzzin along on my wee lil 450 well my buddy is cruising along on his 701 We make our way up hwy 38 for a bit and then turn off the slab to make our way through the unknown conditions of the jeep trail.. We start meandering our way up the trail through deep puddles and wet trail conditions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We come across a group of offroaders in their brand new RAM trucks powered by the Almighty cummins engine. I have the same truck but I wouldn't be drivin it like they did offroad unless it was a dedicated expo rig. Their efforts were stopped when they reached a boulder almost in the middle of the trail so let us pass. We pass them and pull over to see if we all as a group can move the boulder over. Boulder 1 Guys 0... who knew boulders were so heavy  but it worked out they were able to squeeze through
We make our way up the trail and all is well until we hit the snow..... But who are we to let some snow stop us... I mean we are adventure riders after all aren't we?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My bike doesn't have a nice easy throttle you can feather, its either nothing or a whole lot of something  The snow starts to get more and more deep and Im constantly spinning my way through it sliding all over the place trying to crab walk the bike through 20 miles of this stuff I keep spinning out and getting stuck my buddy and I are constantly trying to get the bike out of the hole I keep digging myself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you've dropped your bike 1 too many times throughout the day just take a seat and enjoy the views
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just shortly after we got the bike up and got going again I loose traction and drop the bike it was starting to get a bit ridiculous
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well at least the bikes look cool in the snow you can see my friend in the  background lowering his tire psi as did I. It did help with traction but it still was very icy.
Tumblr media
After 8 hours of riding in the snow falling down and having the bike land on me several times. I got the point where I needed a break and couldn't ride in the snow anymore. After all the times the bike had fallen the last time was the kicker. I was beat , the battery was dead (from the trailtech fan running when the bike was off) and the carb was flooded. I couldnt continue to kick start the bike so we were towing it with the other bike well I walked next to it. After a minutes of this trudging through the snow two trucks pull up behind us.... Alas a miracle... the guy asked if we needed help and offered to throw the bike in the back of his truck. I immediately starting removing all the bags off the bike. I didnt want him to grow impatient and leave us lol. with 5 people made easy work of loading the bike up in the truck. I hoped inside and was immediately relieved I didn't have to fall another time on the icy trail... who knew Ice hurts so much   ..... It was also getting dark and much colder. We make our way down the trail descending towards Angelus Oaks we come around a sharp bend and meet 2 tacomas working their way up. My new friend tries to move over but the snow is too deep off to the side and on the other side is a cliff so thats not gonna work out too well for us Since the tacomas were better equipped then us they back down the hill a little bit to a turn out and we proceed to pass them.
We talked to them for a few mins it was the same guys I saw earlier in the day. They thought we were brave for riding bikes in the snow. That was a nice way of putting it lol...jk I wouldn't have anything less then adventure on my rides. We keep working our way down to Angelus Oaks finally made it to some pavement. Alas what do I see............its a general store I hadn't had the chance to eat all day and hadn't had enough water. I pop in there and buy $20 worth of snacks and start refueling myself. The guys unload the bike while I try to warm up a bit inside the truck. I had been sitting all day in freezing temps... Not a good combination.. The guy who had the truck that the bike was loaded in got the bike fired up immediately and did a little rip in the parking lot. He grew up riding and hadn't been a few years. So rippin around in the parking put a big grin on his face. He joked that was his payment for hauling the bike downt he mountain... We talked for a few minutes and thanked him many times as I would not have not been able to get down that mountain if it wasn't for him. I offered to buy him dinner but he refused saying he was just happy to help plus they had plans to go to the casino and do the buffet. How can I argue with that... It was great meeting Tom and his wife they were very nice people. We exchanged contact info so we could ride in the future.
We parted ways heading down hwy 38 towards Yucaipa to hit interstate 10... Oh great this again on my lil 450 lol... We cruise for a bit its been a long day Im sore and my muscles are cramping. We ride for a a bit and pull off into a starbucks to get something warm and unwind for a few minutes.... Don had been helping me all day get my bike through the snow so the least I could do was buy him a coffee.... We look at our GPS and we still have a 1.5 hour ahead of us to get to our hotel in 29 palms...  It has been a long day
Tumblr media
We depart the warmth of starbucks and head east on I10 its coooold and its windy but wait once we pop on Hwy 62 to head to 29 palms it gets colder and windier lol Its about 10 pm and we finally pull into the hotel... It seems like the last 10 miles took hours to ride. A hot meal and a warm bed sound so nice but when you ride its not that quick to go to bed. We had to pull our saddle and tank bags off....finally all our gear is inside and I can kick my boots off and eat some pizza. Don and I remissness about our adventures we went through to get here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I slept very well and woke up the next day semi refreshed but very sore lol.... We head out to Joshua Tree to a little breakfast place I have been to several times... Crossroads Cafe....they have really high quality food with big portions. I ordered "Mike's Mess" a scrambled egg dish with bacon potatoes topped with Cheddar cheese and sour cream... That was a great way to start the day
Tumblr media
I pulled up my Caltopo map for the National Parks and it showed a dirt trail that goes through the park and hits I10... After charging up our electronics, body and soul we head out to Joshua Tree NP... Once we get there park ranger had some sad news for us..... The dirt road is closed due to all the rain..... So we just rode through the main road on the Park. We enjoyed the sights and make our way towards interstate 10... Once we hit the 10 I told down Don there is a road we can take that heads towards Mecca but looks like there is a dirt trail off of that road. So we start making our way to the trail head... shortly after we start Don honks his horn at me so I pull over and pulls up next to me. I wondered what happen and he says that he lost the bolt that holds his clutch perch in.... luckily he carries some spare bolts while he getting his tools and bolts out.... Don says watch your 6 and so I subtly turn around and a man appeared out of nowhere. This guy is just standing there with his arms crossed maybe 100-200 ft away from us.... The guy stands in 1 spot for several minutes and my hair is raising up on my arms I dont really like this situation... the guy starts working his way towards us slowly very slowly in a roundabout way.... finally hes very close to his and says we were like ninjas and just rolled up on him... I had a weird feeling about this guy we got geared up and go the hell outta there lol... The sad news was the road to Mecca was closed most likely it got washed out with all the rain they have been having..
Since we hadn't had an opportunity to hit any dirt today we planned to go ride on the bradshaw trail. ... We get going again on I10 and the winds are just relentless blowing up to 65+ mph and I am getting blown all over the place and have to heavily compensate with my riding posture to stay in a straight line.. We pull off the freeway to hop in the 111 to get down to the sultan see where the bradshaw trail starts...... We pull up to the light and I hear squeaking, the light turns green and I try to get going and the bike stalls.... thats weird.... we pull up to another light I hear squeaking again... I yell to Don I think my brake is locked up.... we pull off the road and guess what...my brake is locked up... we cant seem to get a break.... So its time to do some Macgyvering we try to free up the brake but no such luck... So we end up removing the brake pad and tie up the caliper against the swingarm so it doesn't hit the disc Its getting late and Don and I have responsibilities to attend to so we hit the freeway again.... The wind had gotten even worse. I rode for maybe 30 miles but I was getting blown around more and more and it was starting rain ice cold rain. So I deiced to pullover at a rest stop and that I would get the bike towed and ride with the driver because at the end of the day its not worth dying over to ride home in bad conditions. I had a great time and wanted to thank Don for helping me with getting the bike back vertical all day playing in the snow. I cant wait for the next trip. Also they are not on here but I wanted to thank Tom and the other strangers for helping us and loading the bike in his truck there was no way i could have made it off the mountain that night without them.

A low roar makes me jump as I stare over the city. I look up to see the belly of an aeroplane soaring above us. The vibrations are pretty violent, and I almost fear for the ruins surrounding me. After nearly two hours on a coach, this is the Heraklion that greets us: hot, busy, eclectic. Just one of the stops on our tour of Eastern Crete.
While I understand the need for an early pick up for this particular trip, it doesn’t mean I like it. Thankfully the air is cool at 6:30 am while we wait for our ride, and we are quick to doze off in its cushioned seats. Halfway to our destination we stop at a roadside café in the middle of nowhere. The driver grabs a much needed coffee, while the rest of us make the most of the fresh doughnuts and orange juice on offer. Tummies full and legs stretched, we quickly doze off again for an hour or so until our driver wakes us up by sharply breaking in a car park. This alerts us to our first: no trip to Crete would be complete without a visit to Knossos.
The last time I came here I was four years old. Now, after studying Classical Civilisation and ancient literature as part of my degree, it is a site I have been desperate to revisit. The Sunday morning heat is uncomfortable but the place isn’t manically busy yet; just a few guides marching groups through narrow spots like the ‘Room with the Copies’ and temporarily blocking them. The swallows that are perched and nesting above doorways do make for good entertainment though, especially when they begin dive-bomb unsuspecting tourists below. The place is certainly fascinating however. The grand staircase and royal apartments offer insight into the sheer scale of the site. My musical background draws me the ‘theatre’ where I take a snap with a well-known travel mag to try and get featured (it doesn’t work). The backdrop to the ancient palace is also stunning, rolling hills and lush green trees framing the site, adding to its grandeur. Yet I must confess myself a little disappointed: while the sheer age of the site certainly makes it impressive, there are elements that dim its raw legitimacy. Patches of red paint mark ‘re-creations’, and square windows have been added in during some points of its excavation. I may sound ungrateful, ignorant even to some; don’t get me wrong, I am incredibly grateful for the preservation of the palace, along with other similar sites across the globe. The re-painted frescos across the palace, made to look suitably aged, are very well executed. I guess I just had an image of a palace whose original architecture had been almost completely preserved, or lay in near complete ruin with its age being the focal point, not some hybrid sitting in-between. Some of the more disparaging sights created by other tourists: a man has been employed to sit a particular spot and shout at people attempting to take pictures stood on top of one of many giant urns, and a gentleman is yelled at after wandering around with a cigarette in his mouth. It is a place that I need to come back to in the low season, I feel, away from the tours and masses of tourists that come stomping through the gate just as we are leaving. Away from those that come here just because it is on some list of places to visit or a hotel excursion. And away from the heat.
Our next stop, however, fulfils any further questions I may have of the site itself; a short drive into the city centre of Héraklion leads us to the Archaeological Museum. The first three rooms immediately grab my attention, the bright lights making all the gold displayed in cabinets glitter. Our guide book states them as “luxury objects from the Neolithic settlement of Knossos and Prepalatial tholos tombs of the Mesara, as well the burial complexes of Malia, Mochlos, and Archanes”. Any grandeur the palace of Knossos may have lost is certainly compensated for within its safely stored treasures, the pinnacle object for me being the Malian golden bee pendant, displaying Minoan taste at its finest.           There is even a stunning replica of the Knossos palace, which can rival Leavesden Studios’ miniature Hogwarts in terms of detail. My favourite element of the museum, however, has to be the Phaistos disc. The earliest known example of Minoan text, the disc is believed of be of a religious nature, possibly a prayer to a Minoan Goddess (thanks to a 2014 study). In the museum though it sits isolated, both sides displayed in a glass cabinet while a single bright bulb shines above it, making the clay almost appear gold and shimmering. I manage to grab a quick snap of it (don’t worry, I’m allowed to), and smile as a little girl with a very expensive looking camera patiently waits for people to move out of the way so that she can get the perfect picture.
Walking beyond these sparkling treasures, I learn that the museum is very strict: some exhibits cannot be photographed since they have not been formally published yet, which is fair enough. It is also amusing to see grown men flinch at a woman’s bark of “be quiet!” when the level of noise in each room gets a little high, the echoing reprimand reminding me of being told off in a school assembly. Though I am glad to not be the subject of her shouts, it does not deter me from getting as close as I can to each exhibit, beautiful frescos such as the ‘Bull-Leaper’ and a stunning Gold Myrtle wreath proving yet more insight into life inside Knossos.
By the time we’ve finished in the museum, we don’t really have time to explore the city. There is a chance, however, to grab a coffee and the first slice of ‘real’ baklava I’ve encountered since being in Greece. It should seem fitting then that it is the biggest slice I’ve ever seen. Savouring every crumb I can, I’m amazed by the juxtaposition of the city that surrounds me. We’re in the old part of tow, ruins and tired looking buildings dotted around us, while aeroplanes glide low into the nearby airport, vibrations making the air buzz, and giant ferries hum in the port, destined for Athens.  Settling back in our comfy seats for the long drive back, we expect to arrive at our hotel just before dinner. But just an hour into the journey we make an unexpected stop in Réthymno, Crete’s third and ‘middle’ city.
“We stay here for a bit. No longer than 45 minutes. Go. Go wander.”
We obey our guide and step out into the surprisingly cooler air of the port of Réthymno, dark clouds above us signalling imminent rain, while a chilly breeze is a welcome breath of fresh air. We walk up a slight hill and are suddenly in the old part of town, the small harbour greeting us echoing Chania’s charm and character. We can see a maze of narrow streets ahead of us, but whether it is the early morning finally catching up with us, the extensive travelling, or the Sunday afternoon attitude in the air, suddenly the canopied bars lining the harbour are incredibly inviting. We pick one with comfy sofas right next the lapping water, old ships tethered up to our right, resting for the day before the tours of the coast begin again tomorrow. Orange juice is again the drink of choice, though the choice of food on the menu is extensive. The table next to us have opted for a fresh fish platter, which seems to contain a myriad of shellfish, squid, swordfish, and others that I don’t recognise. It looks fabulous, though the cats loitering next to the table seem to be getting the lion’s share, perhaps due to on being very clearly pregnant. The hum of a Harley accompanies our quiet drink, speeding away as we had back towards our own ride. We spot other restaurants making the most of the quiet time of day before the crowds roll in, setting up stunning displays of today’s offerings, live crab and lobster attempting to scuttle away before their claws are banded shut.
Relaxing into the last leg of our journey, I try and remember everything I have seen today, all the treasures and artefacts, everything precious and ancient. Suddenly I become very thankful for the guide book we picked up in Héraklion. Yet it is this last stop that has proved to be the most curious, a place that I have seen signposted but never thought of visiting. As we leave Réthymno the heavens open, and I decide I definitely want to come back here, for a meal at least.

Foodies tune in:  10 Best cities around the world to share some street food with the locals
Whether you are a homebody or one that delves into travel, universally we all have food in common.  Last night I conquered a food tour in Kuala Lumpur, and dined for three hours with a Malaysian man, and a couple from Amsterdam.  Although we came from different walks of life, food brought us together and by the end of the night we all became friends.  This made me realize that food is such a great symbolic gesture to promote an even playing field.  A smile on one’s face, and a good meal in front of them is something everybody can understand.  After the lovely food filled evening last night I have decided to highlight the top ten of the best cities to go on a food tour in throughout the world.  There are obviously way more on this list, and I hope throughout my lifetime to experience dozens of nights such as the one I partook in yesterday evening.  Let the feasting begin!

10)  Mexico City, Mexico- On my bucket list, and hope to get here within the next year, some of the best street food known to human kind.  World renown for Tlacoyos which are discs in the shape of eyes that is filled with blue corn masa and prepared on a comal, which is a griddle that is out in the open air! Some other greats are Tacos Al Pastor, and Tamales and Atole.  While stuffing your face, learn about the culture while you are engulfed in foodie heaven in Mexico City!

9)  Buenos Aires, Argentina-  My brother and I ventured down to Buenos Aires a couple years ago, and we were walking Empanadas by the end of the trip.  Just like coffee shops are prevalent in Seattle, Washington, the same can be said of the piping hot fresh Empanadas in Buenos, Aires Argentina.  I still dream about them on a consistent basis and hope to make a trip back soon!

8) Tokyo, Japan-  My family was just in Japan a few weeks ago, and the fish market had hands down the best sushi you will ever eat.  We also had our fair share of miso ramen, and shabu shabu, which was fresh meats prepared right in front of us.  The culture is amazing, the people are extremely friendly, and you will never have a meal that leaves you unsatisfied.  Fish anybody?

7)  San Francisco, California-  The sourdough bread bowl clam chowder is a grand slam, and you can follow it up by a stop at ghiradelli square to get your chocolate fix in.  Being right on the pacific ocean coastline, San Francisco makes for amazing scenery while eating like a king or queen!

6)  Paris, France-  Paris really could have been first on the list, but so could all of these destinations.  Homemade crepes on every corner will leave you delighted, and their croissants with coffee leave you wanting more everytime.  Pick up a bottle of wine, a block of cheese, and a famous french baguette and engulf yourself in hands down one of the most beautiful cities in the world.  The gastronomic hub of France, the duck-confit is another must try.

5)  Shanghai, China-  Where are our chinese food lovers at?  If you haven’t been to China then you really don’t know what you are missing.  From the Xiangyang Food Stalls, to Donghu Wet Market, you will experience everything from Soup Dumplings, to the best scallion pancakes ever!  Lets not forget about their famous Egg Tarts either.  You might put on a few pounds, but it will be well worth it!

4) Rome, Italy-  Pasta on Pasta on Pasta, and tons of amazing cheap wine.  The history is unmatched in the city, and while you walk off all the carbs you can learn about the rich culture, and feel like you are back in time.  Tap the day off with the best Gelato on the planet!

3) Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam-  Stop by the gigantic Ben Thanh Market and indulge your taste buds and stomach in everything from sticky rice, flour pancakes, tamarind crab, and if you are feeling like an adventurous foodie then some chicken livers and gizzards.  Wash it down with a cold beer and pat your belly in satisfaction!

2) London, England- Bacon sandwiches, Salted Caramel Tarts, Fish and Chips with Beer at famous pubs, British food could be the most underrated out there, and one of the best around the world.  Besides, who doesn’t want to check out London, the city is incredible!

1) New York City, New York-  This has to top the list because it is the melting pot of the world, and any restaurant in business must be amazing.  Whether you are craving Italian and want to venture into Little Italy, Chinese in Chinatown, or are craving a huge Jewish sandwich from famous Katz Delicatessen, New York has the pickiest of eaters covered.  You can walk anywhere, so work up and off an appetite and experience culture in the Big Apple that never sleeps!

You can find local food tour guides in each of these cities, and I highly recommend that is the first thing you do if you are traveling.  This is a great way to introduce yourself to new surroundings and get comfortable in a new setting with a full stomach in the process!

Day 22 - Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001)
Tumblr media
A giant...wooooooooooorm?!
AKA the last of my dipping into my blu-ray collection for this year. Though, this boxset of the first five movies I have is already out of date. Much like I seem to be hitting a lot of III movies this year, seems like a lot of stuff I look at just had another sequel come out this year. So it's true with Tremors as well with Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell. At least Burt is still in that one. Attaboy.
For 3 though we have the subtitle of 'Back to Perfection'. I momentarily forgot that's the name of the village. Mores sense in that than it being a damning take on the second movie. Shit, I watched the first two in the blind spots of not recapping things. Here's the cliff notes:
Tumblr media
Tremors - Giant worms things in the ground that will track the sound of your movement on the ground, pop up and eat you. Kevin Bacon is in it and my lasting memory of it has always been the first time of me hearing the term 'Pardon my French'.
Tumblr media
Tremors 2 - No Kevin Bacon and the worms now eventually become what is known as 'Shriekers'. The Shriekers eventually burst out of the Graboid and are able to move around on the surface. They're kind of little dinosaury, snapping turtle things that have heat sensors. Good, dumb fun movie overall.
Which is a summary that can easily apply to this sequel as well. As much as I do love Burt, him being the lead character does lead to the whole thing having a sort of low rent feel. It very much feels like a direct-to-video entry, like one of those Disney sequels where the focus is shifted from the princess to the talking crab side character.
Things start out with Burt returning from a Graboid hunting trip out in Argentina where he manages to take out an entire swarm of Shriekers with the AA gun he has mounted to his truck. Burt doesn't do things by halves.
He returns to Perfection to find Jack Sawyer has started up a little Graboid safari in which he drives people around and has one of his goons kick up a bit of dust to make it look like they're under attack. He literally has people wait around on rocks and sells them cold beer at $3 a pop whilst they do it. Sounds like just a small step up from paying to watch paint dry.
But when an actual Graboid does show up for the first time in years (no mention of how or why it's just showing up now out of the blue), one of the few remaining Perfection residents calls in the feds. Not a bad idea, whilst Burt is a one man army, surely the actual army is a better idea.
Or, you know, all of about 3 people. Damn budget cuts. One of the feds says this really isn't a priority in Washington. Bloody Trump's America, eh? If these Graboids were coming from Mexico, you'd have built a 60ft subterranean wall! I like when the feds do show up though because everyone starts panicking. Burt starts quoting the second amendment, Jack swears he really does have that valid business licence and Miguel is adamant his cousin already left to go back home. Calm down guys, they're just here to make sure Burt isn't hunting anymore Graboids because, if he did, he'd be going against the endangered species act.
Endangered species my ass! It's a god damned Graboid, we shouldn't really be looking to preserve this things. It's not one of the last white rhinos left on the planet or something. Last I checked, whilst a white rhino could do a bit of damage, it's not likely to cause a sinkhole under your house and kill you and your entire family.
So, everyone is under instructions to take one of these things alive so it can be taken away for study. Oh yeah, I know where this leads. This is some Weyland-Yutani shit, isn't it?
Capture Graboid ??? Profit!
There is a worrying moment where it looks like Burt has been eaten and all investment in the movie has been swallowed along with him, but he's still alive and radioing out from the inside. Albeit with a limited air supply. Luckily, Jack is able to lead the Graboid away, back to Burt's house where it literally runs into his concrete barrier he's had installed all around his compound. Jack digs and chainsaws his way to the Graboid and pulls Burt to safety.
Tumblr media
And I thought they smelled bad on the outside...
We soon come to learn of a further mutation, the Shriekers eventually shade their skin like snakes and take on a new form:
Tumblr media
And if you were curious about that webbing on their back, yes, they can fly. Well, let's call it falling with style. But how do they get into the air? Simple, they propel themselves into the sky with a fiery fart.
Tumblr media
No, really. They're butt launchers...ass blasters! You know you're taking yourselves seriously when you call the big new threat in your movie an ass blaster.
There seems to be a theme emerging here, each new sequel takes us further along the evolutionary path of the Graboid. From just plain Graboid in the original, Shriekers in 2 and now Ass Blasters. They make a point to say that the Ass Blaster has an egg in it that it will seemingly 'fly' away to rear somewhere else and it's implied that's the last phase, hatching that egg into a Graboid to start the cycle afresh. Watch them write their way out of that one though.
From there, the rest of the movie sees the gang trying to take out the remaining ass blasters...teeheehee. Unfortunately, Burt keeps losing his stock of guns and ammos and even ends up blowing his own house up as a sacrifice to take out one of the new creatures. Whilst it is a little shocking to lose such an iconic piece of Perferction, it does make an interesting change to see Burt scurrying around trying to put together makeshift weapons in order to protect himself and the group. Certainly a far cry from the big guns he was playing with at the start.
So, yeah, good dumb fun that has a mixture of your monster of the week, explosions and humour. It's a step down from the first and arguably the second but it's still perfectly acceptable. I am intruiged by the 4th movie, going by the image on the front of the disc, it has this old west vibe going on. Sort of that Red Dead Redemption, very late 1800's period with the dusters and hats.
Should make for an interesting change in procedings to stage this in such a technological dark age. With Burt especially, you do get kinda bogged down in all the gadgetry he has, the trackers, the weapons...suddenly a Graboid is a lot more formidable when you've not got an AA gun and enough C4 to level a city. Hang on though, isn’t that going to break out Burt streak?! Unless he’s got a time machine in that box of tricks of his...
But before we get to that, there is the small matter of the Tremors TV series. Not that failed comeback that would have starred Kevin Bacon again, the early 2000's one that follows on directly from the movie. Hmmmmm, interesting...

P&C
OTP QUESTIONS
Tumblr media
The Basics
How did they first meet?
They were working on Snowpiercer together. Peggy as a set designer, ad Chris as the actor, and Peggy accidentally flicked her pencil right into Chris’ eye.
How did they get together?
Chris finally got up the courage to ask her out, bailed on the date (long story) then had to ask her out AGAIN in order to convince her he was worth her time.
Who kissed who first?
Chris kissed Peggy.
What's the relationship like? Smooth? Rocky?
Rocky. Really Rocky. The relationship could become a boxer, or a range on mountains.
What do they like the most about each other?
Chris likes that Peggy doesn’t take his bullshit. She tells him when he’s wrong, and has made him a better person because of it. He also loves her beautiful creative mind, and the way she puts her passion into everything she does.
Peggy loves Chris’ easy going personality. She loves how he makes her laugh no matter how sad she is. She loves that he’s always up to dancer with her, or hold her when she feels down. He gets her.
What do they like the least about each other?
How distant she can be at times. She can get into funks and not be able to get out of them, completely refuse his help, and then the way she wont open up at all about it afterwards.
Sometimes it’s just how loud he is. When Peggy needs some peace and quiet, he’ll end up walking around the house, making every noise in the world.
What are the dates like?
The dates are pretty laid back. A trip to their favorite diner, reading to each other under a tree in the park, camping (Peggy says she loves it, but can’t stand it), laying in bed while Peggy pets Chris’ hair and tells him an elaborate story she made up on the spot. Sometimes they’ll go to high end restaurants and goof around.
What was their most memorable date?
Just them, Dodger and Isabelle on the beach playing around and having a good time. That was, until they went in the water, and Chris kept getting nipped by a crab, and then came out of the water sunburned to hell.
He looked the same color as a ripe tomato, Peggy was laughing her ass off. “How could you forget to put on sunscreen?”
Tumblr media
Domestic Questions
Who cleans the most? Contrary to that, who is the messiest?
Chris is definitely the cleanest. Out of the two of them. He’s gotten used to just picking up her trail of shoes through the house, but he still wonders how one person can use 8 pairs of shoes in a day.
Peggy isn’t messy, per se. She’ll clean and then it’ll somehow get messy again in less than 20 minutes. She has cleaning spurts where she’ll clean the entire house top to bottom, though, so I guess that makes up for it.
Who usually cooks?
Peggy usually cooks. Chris likes it that way. He can hardly cook three meals a day without running out of ideas, but he helps out. Tastes thing. (Way too often if you ask me), cuts up veggies, goes on grocery runs, washes the dishes...
Who has the best table manners?
Peggy does, but only because she’s super self-conscious when eating.
Who tends to worry the most?
Oh god. I think it’s a tie there. They both have anxiety, and worry about things and Peggy’s imagination tends to tell her every impossible way things could go wrong.
Who is more inclined to be jealous or possessive?
Chris. Peggy gets flirted with on a daily basis. It cant be worked around. When it happens, Chris often puts an arm around her and pulls her close.
How do they resolve their arguments?
Either with space or angry sex.
After a heated argument, Chris is usually the one to walk away first. They go to separate rooms, compose their selves, then try again later.
OR they end up making out, and not accepting the other person being in control, and just continuing the argument, yelling their points, just with sex mixed in.
Who remembers dates, birthdays, and appointments?
Peggy remembers birthdays... Well... the important ones.
Chris remembers appointments.
They both remember important dates. Like anniversaries.. (that includes the day they met. Not just when they started dating).
Who is the most physically affectionate?
Chris is super affectionate in private.
Peggy is a little ore risky in public.
Who has the most nightmares and how do they deal with them?
Peggy does. She has a bad past, and has nightmares relating to those. Sometimes she’ll wake up, and Chris wont, and she’‘ be relieved. Other times Chris will have to wake her up because she’s screaming in her sleep. They end up staying up the rest of the night, and Peggy apologizes, and cries, but Chris always tells her it’s okay, and he holds her, and tries take her mind off of it.
Who steals the blankets?
They both sleep naked, but Peggy hates to be cold, so she takes it all, or just the bed sheet.
Who gets cold the easiest?
Peggy. All the time. She steals Chris’ body heat like a cat burglar steals jewelry.
Who pays for the food the most, when they go out?
Most of the time they split the check, but sometimes Chris is so insistent, Peggy just gives up.
Do they enjoy dancing?
Do they? If you put some music on, you know they’re going to be dancing! In a club, at a party, in their house, in the middle of the street maybe or maybe not holding up traffic...
Do they ever trade clothes?
Yes. Peggy orders sweatshirts big enough for Chris to wear because she likes swinging her arms around and Peggy wears Chris’ Henleys and sweatpants all the time.
Do they ever go swimming together?
Chris loves the water and so does Peggy, plus their homes are often on, around the beach, or have a huge pool, so they go swimming often.
Do they ever cook together?
If you count Chris eating everything as cooking together then yeah. They do bake together!
Do they enjoy a good round of truth or dare?
They’re too old for that.... Just kidding. If you get enough of them and their friends drunk together, they will play whatever you want. Though some of the dares, no amount of alcohol could make you forget. Peggy will never look at Chris’ nipples the same every again.
Do they enjoy pillow fights?
Do they??? Peggy and Anna have woken Chris up with a pillow to the face so many damn times.
Do they ever play sports together?
Football, Volleyball, Kickball. They get super competitive.
Do they give each other nicknames?
Chris calls Peggy: Baby, Babe, Angel, Young Whippersnapper, Baby Girl,  Sunflower, Sugar Moma, Snookums, Smoochie, Snuggle butt
Peggy calls Chris: Boo Bear, Happy Feet, Darling, Sweets, Suga Daddy, Daddy, Papi, SexyPants McFireStarter, Baby Boo
Have they ever gone skinny dipping?
Shhh...
What do they like when going out for food?

Thoughts on each other's friends?
Tara and Peggy get along great as well as Peggy and all of Chris’ other friends. They love her.
Bea and Chris get along perfectly, as well as Chris and Jules, Devon, ect. Roman and Chris can stop glaring long enough to share a joke sometimes.

Yes. But Chris just has to wait for Peggy to be ready.

Yes. Yes. Yes! All the babies!!!
Chris wants two or three.
Peggy wants three or four.
Chris settles on three.
They end up having eight.
If the other had children before they met, what was their reaction towards the kids?
Peggy woulds accept it, maybe a little skeptical on why Chris and the mom separated. She’d want to know that it was nothing bad. But all in all she would be pretty chill about it.
Chris would also be skeptical coming into. What if the kids don’t like him? He would also be pretty chill about it also.
How'd they meet each other's families?
Holiday over the course of a few days so it’s not all at once.
Thoughts on each other's family?
Peggy thinks Chris and his family totally make since. They’re all loud, and love to laugh, and play around. She loves it.
Chris thinks Peggy’s adopted family is amazing, and fit exactly with her. They love to dance, and cook and sing. He loves them.
On the other hand Chris thinks Peggy’s real family are complete dicks. In a nice sense... not really.

Peggy loves Chris’ parents.
Chris loves Peggy’s Abuelita and Bea.

Tumblr media
This marks the start of the NSFW and PDA section. You've been warned.
What is their favorite way to kiss? (If confused by this question, look up '43 different kisses')
Peggy likes to be kissed on her neck. It’s a pretty thrilling experience, especially with the beard.
Chris likes it when Peggy comes up behind him, hugs him close, places a kiss on his back, then hugs him again.
Who is has a tendency to be more dominant? Do they switch?
Peggy often let’s Chris take control, but don’t be fooled. Peggy is the one with all the power. Chris pampers her, and in turn she takes care for him. He fucks her just like she wants him to. Her quiet dominate personality is just the right balance of submissive, but still in control. Some would call her the perfect Domme
How is the mood set?
It’s just the two of them going for it, but usually it’s in a calm atmosphere. Just waking up, the calm of finally relaxing after a long day.
Thoughts on sex toys?
Have you seen the army tub labeled Peggy. Jesus. There’s not that many sex toys in a sex toy factory.
What do they find most sexy about the other?
For Peggy, Chris’ beard. It turns her on. The scruff between her thighs or on her neck... god.
For Chris its Peggy’s ass. It’s so plump and jiggles just the right way... damn.
Most sensitive areas?
Peggy’s neck.
Chris’ ear.
Do they shower/bathe together? If so, how far does anything go?
They bathe together often. It’s mostly sitting around in the tub for a few hours. If they shower together it’s a whole different story.
They’ll lather the soap on each others bodies, and Peggy will somehow end up on her knees, opting to clean Chris’ dick with her tongue instead of the loofah. Same goes for Chris, he’ll have her up against the shower tiles, legs over his shoulders, holding her up as she shakes. Things get heated from there.
How do they like their sex? (Fast, slow, gentle, rough, etc)
They enjoy it any way it comes. Though, most of the time it’s on the vanilla, passionate sex, but just as often, it’s rough and heated. They both like different styles Chris being slow, Peggy being fast. They eventually find a medium, though.
How rough can the sex get before it's taken too far?
Pretty rough, hair pulling, scratching biting, screaming. Thank god they sound proofed their bedroom, and red room.
Oh yes. Some pretty medium BDSM nothing too bad. They have safe words and never have had the need to use them. They know each other’s limits.
Favorite sex positions?
The Rider
 Missionary
The Grip
The Clasp
The Cross
The Perch
The Snail
Doggy Style
From Behind
Splitting Bamboo
The Clip
The Kneel
The Lotus
If they would have a threesome, who would their third choice be?
I can tell you who’d they pick for a foursome... *cough* Tom and Jules *cough*
For a threesome it’s gonna be Elizabeth Olsen.

What Family Does Your Character Belong To?  She was raised in the Kakita Family Line with her parents.  Mayoko’s Father is family name is Ueda, her mother’s family name is Akatsutsumi.  Her husband’s last name is Fujita
Is Your Character A Bushi, A Shugenja, or A Courtier?  Mayoko is a Courtier.
How Would Others Describe Your Character’s Appearance?  Mayoko is a female of average height and weight.  Her hair is dyed white and long, often tied up into stylish designs.  She has a very attractive face that is a bit slender, with well proportion eyes (dark brown), ears and mouth, yet her nose is a bit on the small side with a weak bridge (not prominent).  She has average length limbs, with narrow fingers that are a tad on the long side.  Her skin is pale, and she appears to be one of those individuals who tries hard to stay out of the sun.  Mayoko also has slightly long toes but her feet still are in the average range.  She has a docile or shy demeanor most often.  Her voice is a bit too soft and in nosier areas it is often hard to hear what she says, and in such times she seems to struggle a bit to speak in a louder tone.  Her style of dress is impeccable, always seeming to be in the know of the highest of fashions and her application of perfume is almost like an art form in itself (always just enough of a sent, just a hint mixed in with her naturally pleasant odor.  A small breasted woman, with narrow shoulders.  She appears to be young, but carries herself like one of the more mature ladies of the court, with that air of confidence, some may refer too in her case as arrogance.  Her movements appear to hypnotize many of the opposite sex, and it is apparent that she is well aware of her admires and knows how to be seductive enough to both maintain her dignity, while leaving many a woman envious as she seems to hold the attention of the men.  No scars or other distinguishing features stand out, yet she has a small tattoo in the middle of her forehead, that her face actual pulls off admirably.
What is your character’s primary Motivation?  Mayoko’s primary motivation is to serve her liege lord to the fullest of her capabilities as one of the up and coming courtiers of the age, she knows she is an important asset for her liege and family.  Yet deep down inside she questions her motives at times as she is often worried about another “episode.”  If she could but find a cure, she is unsure if she would betray all for alleviation.
Who is The Person Your Character Trust Most in the World.  She trust Kakita Yoshi more than anyone she knows.  She has looked up to his leadership and political influence since she completed her first day of training in the Doji Dojo.  She would almost say that she loves him; but only to herself.
What is Your Character’s Greatest Strength and Weakness?  Mayoko’s greatest strength is her ability to figure out what is going to happen before it even happens.  It is a wisdom of putting things together almost like a puzzle of logic and reason when it comes to life.  Mayoko’s greatest weakness is her vanity in her own abilities and independent thinking.  She is not one to listen to the advice of others.  While, it has cost her once or twice, she just usually knows better than most and trust herself more than any other.
What does Your Character Think About Bushido?  Mayoko has taken to heart the importance of bushido from both of her parents. Their beliefs coincide with the typical Crane.  To her the most important code is Courtesy, with Duty and Honor being the codes next in the chain of importance. While she feels Courage is important outside of the Courts, she is out of her element, and so worried of any additional episodes (which has happened more often when courage was involved), it is just best for her to avoid being in any situation that may require the drawing of steel.
What is Your Character’s Opinion of Her Clan?  Mayoko feels she is privilege to have been fortunate enough to belong to the most important Clan within the Empire.  It is their clan that truly brought civilization to the people of Rokugan.  There are times and situations that she must stomach for the clan, but overall Mayoko just bares through those times.  Karma is Karma, and there really is not reason to be ungrateful.
Is Your Character Married?  Mayoko has been married for about two years to Fujita Daiki from the Doji family.  It was arranged.  Her husband is a distance cousin to the Emerald Champion.  She did not know much about her husband, until after they were married.  For Mayoko marriage is a duty, and when it comes to her husband and infant son, they are one of her priorities.  While she wouldn’t say she “loves” her husband in the romantic sense, she thinks he is a wonderful samurai, husband and father. There home is within the Doji Provinces.  Daiki and Mayoko both have proved to be great assets for their Daimyo.  Six months ago, they were given a fief.  Their home is located at Fyia sha - nogure - su mura.  They live with her mother-in law Cho.  Mayoko has a difficult time being in the house with this woman, while she is not happy at the distance her new assignment will place on her and her family, she is at least welcoming some time of peace away from her husband’s mother.
Does Your Character Have Any Prejudices?  Like many, Mayoko biases have been heavily influence by individuals within her Clan.  She really is put of by both the lion and the Crab, Don’t Trust the Scorpions (any further than she could throw one of them).  She thinks members of the Phoenix Clan are trust worthy and admires their pacifistic philosophy.  The Unicorn probably should not be samurai, and the emperor would do everyone a favor by sending them back from wince the came.  She doesn’t really have an opinion of the Dragon Clan, but she has heard they are, sort of strange and intriguing.  Minor Clans are barely above being Ronin and Ronin… well, maybe most can take a trip with the Unicorn, they mostly bandits and up to know good.
To whom Does Your Character Owe the Most Loyalty.  Mayoko thinks that the Emerald Champion is top on her list, followed by Kakita Yoshi, and finally the Emperor.  She is well aware how the order of loyalty should rank.  Mayoko just does not voice these thoughts aloud to anyone and hopes she never has to be placed in a situation, where her loyalty between the Emperor and Emerald Champion are at odds.
What Are Your Character’s Favorite and Least Favorite Things?  Mayoko loves to talk about interesting subjects and ideas to someone who also has an intellectual mind set.  She has enjoyed mental stimulation when it comes to two or more individuals having great discussions.  What she doesn’t like is having to be around individuals who talk about frivolous things and or isn’t that bright.  She rather not talk at all, and many people think she is just not a very talkative type of person, not knowing she actually can be talkative, just not with any and everyone.
Does Your Character Have Any Recurring Mannerisms?  Mayoko clinches her teeth when she is frustrated with someone.  She tends not to notice this action.  If attention is brought to her about this, like her parents do when they see it, she will close her eyes draw in a breath and release the tension from her face.
What About Your Character’s Emotions?  Being a courtier Mayoko has pretty much mastered her “Face.”  The emotion she has the most difficult time dealing with is fear, it is more from what can occur in such a state she is more concerned about.  The emotion she has the easiest time controlling on the other hand is anger.  Her sensei taught her meditative techniques for both emotions.  She, has perfected the anger techniques, but the fear is a work in constant progress.
How Would Your Character Handle A subordinates Improper Behavior?  Mayoko’s typically reaction to Improper Behavior by a subordinate is to correct address the problem immediately.  She has no problem telling or showing someone proper behavior. She is more lenient with Heimin  and Hinin, and less understanding with fellow samurai, who are supposed to know better.
How would Your Character’s Parents Describe Her?  Both of Mayoko’s parents are still alive.  They live near Kyuden Kakita.  She had the typical childhood, and has great respect for both of her parents.  Her father is nearing the age of retirement in a few years, she hopes they marry off her younger brother soon, so him and his wife can help take care of their mother once their father leaves.
What is Your Character’s Highest Ambition? Mayoko hopes that one day she will be able to have a regular assignment in the courts with Kakita Yoshi and in the presence of the emperor which would bring great honor on her and her family and perhaps greatly affect her son’s life in the future.
How Religious is Your Character?  Mayoko considers herself to be just as religious as the average samurai.  While she does not make frequent trips to the temple, she does make all the holidays and observes her ancestors and the fortunes when she can.  Religion is an important aspect of her life.
How Will Your Character Die?  Mayoko will die an an Emerald Magistrate when a group of bandits attack her entourage while traveling through the lands of the Lion.  Her escorts will be killed as she helplessly watches.  Then the bandits will kill her last.
Does Your Character Have An Ultimate Goal and If So What is it?  Mayoko’s goal is to ensure her family’s line through her son.  If their is anyone she loves it is her son.  She hopes that he will one day inherit their fief and go on to live an Honorable life.
What Is Your Character’s Secret and What Will Happen If It Is Discovered?  Mayoko’s only secret is that she had cheated on one of her last assignments as a student.  She could not complete the lore project that was assigned, and had outside help.  If it was ever discovered it would bring shame to her family, school and dojo.  She felt so horrible, that after her gempukku, she began to take her profession seriously (she had been enjoying her popularity so much that it had greatly affected her studies, and she was almost sent home as a failure of the school).  Because of her guilt, Mayoko has become one of the phenoms of her dojo’s class.  Many have high hopes for her.
What Does Your Character Think of the Political Climate in Rokugan?  Mayoko, loves the court and its accompanying intrigue.  It is almost like a game, one of the greatest games and she loves the competition.

If you don't get any action, try switching to gold spoons and targeting points with current as well as blind casting mangrove shorelines. No good?
