Domaine de Coyeux Muscat Beaumes de Venise Cuvée Les Trois Fonts 37.5cl Half Bottle

Domaine de Coyeux Muscat Beaumes de Venise Cuvée Les Trois Fonts is a sweet white wine from the from the eastern central region of the southern half of the Rhône Valley. Muscat Beaumes de Venise is a “vin doux naturel”, a lightly fortified wine whereby fermentation is arrested by the addition of 95% ABV grape spirit.

“Les Trois Fonts” is produced by Domaine de Coyeux, a beautifully located winery owned by Yves and Catherine Nativelle. It is a 130 hectare estate located in a prime location on a hill above Beaumes-de-Venise. The vines are planted at an altitude of 260 metres above sea level, where the soil comes from one of the very rare outcrops of the Comtadine region’s trias. The grapes grown are Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre and white Muscat. The Beaumes de Venise wines of Coyeux have been praised by Robert Parker as “superb,” and Gault Millau calls Coyeux “the best.”

Domaine de Coyeux Muscat Beaumes de Venise Cuvée Les Trois Fonts is produced from 100% Muscat Blanc Petits Grains grapes. After harvest, the grapes undergo cold-pressing, complete with stalks and are then fermented for seven to nine days in temperature controlled stainless steel vats at low temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees. The fermentation is stopped by the addition of grape spirit (a process known as Mutage) leaving the resultant wine at an alcoholic strength of 15.5% by volume and 110 grams of sugar per litre.

Appellation: muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise Domaine: Coyeux @domainedecoyeux Cuvée: Vintage Année / Year: 2009 Cépage / Grape: 100% Muscat petits grains blanc 🍇 🍇 This week with the group @sips.aroundtheglobe we are honoring the terroir of Beaumes-de-Venise. While many are familiar with natural sweet wines, they also produce high quality red wines. To start the week I decided to tell you about this sweet wine from 2009. On the nose it is an explosion on pineapple, apricot and honey. We are on very ripe fruit, on patinated odors, there is a very pleasant spicy side. On the palate, the sweet side is compensated by the great complexity of the wine. It is a rich wine with a nice length on the palate. Everyone can imagine associations depending on their palate, for my part it is a wine that I prefer as an aperitif, before a light meal, or during a dinner aperitif with products that blend well. I do not often have a crush on sweet wines but this one is of high quality and gives a lot of pleasure to discover. 🍇 🍇 Cette semaine avec le groupe @sips.aroundtheglobe nous mettons à l'honneur le terroir de Beaumes-de-Venise. Si beaucoup connaissent les vins doux naturels ils produisent aussi des vins rouges de grande qualité. Pour commencer la semaine j'ai décidé de vous parler de ce vin doux de 2009. Au nez c'est une explosion sur l'ananas, l'abricot et le miel. On est sur des fruits bien mûrs, sur des odeurs patinées, il y a un côté épicé très agréable. En bouche le côté sucré est compensé par la grande complexité du vin. C'est un vin riche avec une belle longueur en bouche. Chacun pourra imaginer des associations suivant son palais, pour ma part c'est un vin que je préfère à l'apéritif, avant un repas léger, où pendant un apéritif dînatoire avec des produits qui se marient bien.
