finally watching arasha's what would arasha do video and yk what i'll say. i AM enjoying it. This is kind of a terrible video specifically in reference to some of i've enjoyed about what would blank do videos before (friends/coworkers knowing each other, intuiting info based on what they know)

BUT i do think this video IS. v funny and I AM enjoying it from a comedic perspective. In large part because Arasha is playing off the lack of knowledge beautifully and with great grace. And because trevor + amanda + tommy are all very funny when struggling.

There's nothing that exactly fits "I think she's a great character and I love how she's written but I don't usually feel much of a creative urge about her" but that too. She's up there in the Hot Lady characters (not that the games have many adult women proportionally, but that's not what this is about), but I only gave a half for the "solid design" square because I don't like how they did her boobs in the sprites.

Also she's definitely my favorite out of the announced new names so far.

The "canon" in "canon isn't real" is aa5/6 ignoring and mauling his story :(

FAVORITE SMOSH CHARACTERS (an incomplete list):

First of all, I have to mention the person, the myth, the legend: Courtney Freaking Miller, celestial being and nonbinary icon. In a smart move, appearances are kept somewhat rare; which means the bit has less risk of getting old, and it adds to CFM's cryptid vibes. Also, "My prison name was Leg Ryan!" Flawless.

I was immediately impressed with Amanda's character work, and Sarah Christ is no exception; a lesser actress would make her too cartoon-y, but Amanda balances her right between ridiculous and completely believable.

Boneless is simply a banger of a character. I love Courtney, but in my opinion, she used to be the weakest link on TNTL. However, Boneless was the first of many excellent bits from her, and she's gotten even better since.

FAVORITE TNTL BITS (a very incomplete list):

POV: You Are A Lobster (Courtney) - This bit kills me every time; it's so simple, yet so absurd. My favorite is the first one, when Courtney did it to Ian, but they're all winners.

Pharaoh High featuring Teddy Roosevelt (Shayne and Jeremy) - I love the on-the-nose parody of high school movies; and Jeremy's voice slipping from Roosevelt to J. Jonah Jameson slays me.

The Incomprehensible Damien Bit (timestamp: 3:20) (Damien) - Hard to explain, but every once in a while, Damien will do a bit that both has 10 plotlines and no plot at all; this is my favorite example of that. He will usually do this to Shayne, and it always gets him.

Oh, I'm really sorry, anon, and you shouldn't feel naive. I mean, for starters, I could be wrong, and I'm being pretty speculative, but even if I'm right, the onerous of that isn't, or at least shouldn't be, on you. I think there's a lot of really great progressive things that happen in fandom, but at the same time fandom is created by People Living in Societies, and unfortunately biases and discrimination, at least in my experience, can and do seep through in ways that are both toxic and just flat out negligent.

The idea of Louis being boring is absolutely an insane and racist rhetoric too. He is so wildly interesting as a character, with so many layers of storytelling and nuance and contradiction, which I adore in him, and it makes me wonder if the people who find him boring are the same ones who want to make him the audience insert (insane given Daniel is literally right there) or to project all this 'battered housewife' narrative onto him, which - - look.

I've tried to shrug this off, but I literally just spent the entire day at a symposium on how the Australian government child support system is weaponised by abusive men against women post-divorce, so I'm a bit of a raw nerve about this topic, but it's made me even more pissed off at the Louis-Housewife arguments than normal.

Not only is it diminishing and completely at odds with his character, but what a way to show you've never, ever engaged with real survivors of, or conversations with, patriarchal oppression.

Ok so i feel like poly ships in this fandom that involve three people are kinda cursed for me to have at least one romantic relationship im not personally into??? Unless there's a specific way it's framed or handled. For Gweathney, it's the Heathney part of the equation.

I really like gwourtney and gweather's great, but i think i never got heathney. I just don't see a situation or context where they'd have positive interactions unless they both got large amounts of therapy or something. I know im saying this on the "enemies to lovers" website, but they spend the vast majority of their time on screen just flat out hating eachother, with the single exception i can think of being Heather comforting Courtney in one scene after Duncan cheats on her. Not even in a fun way i can see progressing into something else like Gweather. Like they just dislike eachother, without a different kind of tension underneath. Outside of their touchyness during world tour i don't get there being a canon source here.

With that said i like Gweathney! They just look good together in fanart, like their designs mesh well to me. All three of these girlies have been mistreated by the show in general so for them to find happiness in eachother's just nice. It also has a ton of potential for conflict too; all three of them have been in conflict directly on the show before, and their clashing personalities and backgrounds are great generators of conflict itself.

Not exactly sure how they would get together?probably needs some major canon divergence for it to work and i sincerely doubt they would get into a throuple without one couple having been established earlier (which, im nominating for it to be gwourtney) but honestly? I like weirder and more out-there ships so it really doesn't matter at the end of the day. Total Drama is Total Drama, you can just make shit up and have fun with it. Lord knows that's basically what i do with almost all my td content-

Also im assuming this involves getting Heather therapy for this to actually work so that's an automatic plus for me

I like the idea of Emma as lapis I think you could make some good parallels with that, though that definitely bring up the idea of Chase as jasper and there’s really not much in common there besides the toxic relationship metaphor. Like Jasper is also actually intimidating and traumatized herself while Chase is just a cringefail man, we cannot call them the same.

I think both Axel + Nichelle and Raj + Bowie can work well as Ruby + Sapphire. I think Axel works well with Ruby’s hotheadedness but Raj works well with her more wholesome side and I can 100% see Raj going through a Ruby Rider arc.

I love the idea of past gen contestants being the diamonds! Though it’s rather hard for me to chose characters for them so I’d love to hear more suggestions! Heather is totally a Diamond though, we can agree on that? I think it’d be fun to have Heather as yellow Diamond and Julia as Peridot.

I think Courtney as Rose Quartz is an interesting choice but I need more convincing because the only parallels I can think of them so far is how they’re very controversial characters lol. Like how at the start of the series they seem like lovely people but the farther the series goes the more conflicting the audience’s opinion on them is.

KITKAT!! have you never had to take one of those chalky/powdery pills that starts to disintegrate the second it touches your tongue and then gets stuck /to/ your tongue and you can't swallow it because no amount of liquid that goes into your mouth after the fact is going to move it from its place on your tongue and then you're just stuck gagging on the worst tasting powder-chalk combo that is going to linger in your mouth for the next 3-5 business days? anyway, that's why i do liquid first and then pill—so the pill never touches my tongue and therefor can't get stuck to it and ruin my life. i've also never had a problem with spilling water out of my mouth. i think it maybe has to do with the amount of water you hold in your mouth and the angle at which you tilt your head back? i don't know.
