(the entrance is under that overhang way up ahead there and the line continues inside)
if you're headed out to vote PLEASE make sure you have comfortable shoes, maybe water and a hat or sun shade, and ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME
#election 2024#I VOTED#the poll worker watching the line was handing out sample ballots to pass along to those behind us#bless the pollworkers#do you know in my county poll workers have to work EVERY DAY - over two weeks solid - of early voting?#when i left the line was still going strong and i got there around 2:30pm#friday afternoon post workday means some people will be choosing to come back later#because it's 93F today and the sun is beaming down brightly and that's tough to stand in#i feel for the folks in the carolinas georgia florida etc because comparatively this is easy#but i haven't seen turnout like this in ... ever#not for early-early voting#getting my stupid hopes up#like i genuinely teared up looking at my printed ballot#because there's tiniest chance to kick cruz to the curb#like the stupid ballot is holding all my damn hope for the future

It's free. Up to 100 pages per day. Per day.
You don't even need a library card.
#they also don't do late fees and have been letting me plod my way through this novel since last November#they also ALSO have free meeting rooms which is where I first met the in-person animist/folk magic group#which is how I met the person who let me hold the book#bow down before the Multnomah county library

got sooooo sad today that cars aren't living creatures
