Who put the world on my back and not in my hands?
Resident Ava Donahue came to the neighborhood of Country Club about one year ago. She's currently 26 years old and was born in Columbine Valley, Colorado. She makes a living by acting and model for Bold Talent Agency. Her neighbors often compare her to Madelyn Cline, but she doesn't see it.
ABOUT THEM.
Ava was born on September 16, making her a Virgo, according to the chart.
She's been described as captivating, independent, and personable. She's also been noted to be guarded, stubborn, and impulsive.
Her dream growing up was to be an actress.
Ava suffers from anxiety and has severe panic attacks. Her panic attacks occur frequently and unexpectedly. Ava has been struggling with anxiety and the reoccurring episodes since sheâs been a Junior in high school.Â
Ava was snatched from her family at the age of twelve, gone for an entire year before escaping. She found herself subjected to the horrors of life, forced to participate in heinous activities, Ava quickly became numb to the cruelties of the world.Â
Two of their favorite ways to relax are by cooking and drinking a whole bottle of wine.
Two bad habits she has are digging her nails into her hands when feeling anxious or overwhelmed and hitting her vape.
She can be found on all social media by the handle @sourtimes
A RUMOR FLOATING AROUND ABOUT THEM IS....
A rumor going around about Ava is that she fell off the rails due to the pressure and popularity she was recieving. Being that she couldnât handle the fame she fell into drugs.Â
THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.
The interaction her father walked in on with his business partner/director of an up and coming movie was not consensual. The man had been obsessed with Ava since she was a teen, and despite going for women his age and older, his energy was rancid and prevented her from giving him the time of day. Entitled, he decided to take what he wanted, and when Ava saw the look of disgust in her fatherâs eyes after he walked in on what he assumed was Ava being Ava, she knew her reputation and plethora of mistakes ensured no one would ever believe her. She accepted her punishment. Feeling absolutely distraught, she decided to quit acting all together, so no. The rumor is not true.

Charles leclerc x reader, your his assistant that He has been pinning over forever and drops hints and like a lovesick puppy to you but your oblivious and innocent to it? Know you can do this rlly good lovely â F1driverszona đ€
i love f1driverszona so much!! hi bae this is for you :)
comments and replies are always appreciated!!
When you accepted the job, you knew the challenges you'd face wouldn't be easy. However, you never anticipated your boss being one of those challenges. Charles was never a difficult person; he was always easygoing and well-spoken. He only became difficult when he had his eyes set on a specific targetâor in this case, a specific person. His last assistant had left for another job, leaving Charles with a significant position to fill. Interviewing hundreds of people day in and day out was exhausting, and he was honestly on the verge of promoting any random intern. But then, you walked inâhair flying, papers everywhere; in short, you looked like a hot mess. Yet, he couldnât take his eyes off you.
Your looks werenât the only thing that impressed Charles. Your CV was more than impressive, showcasing all the hard work you'd done. The sudden decision to hire you had tilted your world upside down. You went from living in a small apartment in a rather miserable neighborhood to residing in the countryâs best penthouse. From day one, it was clear that your boss had a soft spot for you. You often got away with things others didnât, like showing up to work late, leaving early, and skipping those horrible meetings. You were given all the liberties in the world, yet you never took advantage of them. This habit of yours often left Charles scratching his head, wondering why you never took advantage of his kindness and leniency.
Charles knew he'd had his eye on you since day one. Each day you walked into his office made him smile wider. Everyone around you both knew how captivated Charles was by you, yet you remained oblivious. It was hard to ignore the feelings you had for Charles, but for the sake of professionalism, you often suppressed them. It was challenging, especially considering how kind and handsome he was. His smile had you weak, and the veins in his arms, especially when he flexed, had you wondering how his hand would look wrapped around your neckâanyway. Charles always kept you on your toes with how he handled you. His hand would always find its way comfortably to the small of your back, or he'd always be hands-on, even for the smallest tasks.
One specific incident genuinely made you wonder if your boss had feelings for you. Charles never bothered you after work hours, as he was a gentleman. So when you picked up his call one evening and heard the blaring music from a club, you knew something was up. Before he spoke, you heard a very drunk Lando yelling, âLook at you, Charlie! Canât even stay away from her for more than a couple of hours!â His reply would have made you swoon if only you understood French: âMon bĂ©bĂ©, je jure que je ferai de toi ma femme un jour, mon amour. J'aimerais pouvoir dire ça sobrement.â When you asked him the next day what he'd said, he simply brushed it off, saying heâd tell you when the time was right.
You had made the mistake of talking about Charles to your overly enthusiastic best friend, Eli. You'd always felt something odd when you were around Eli but brushed it off since he'd been in your life since you were five, and you weren't one to think poorly of people. Eli, who was oddly against your feelings for Charles, proposed a plan to get you two together by showing up at the Italian Grand Prix as your boyfriend to make Charles jealous. Though you had a bad feeling, you reluctantly agreed.
Monza was always magical, especially since you worked for Ferrari. You loved seeing how fans adored Charles and Carlos. You even joined the locals in praying for a Ferrari win, secretly hoping it would be Charles. When Charles qualified P4, everyone assumed it was because the car lacked pace. However, Charles was distracted by seeing you with Eli. It wasnât the fact that you were with another guyâit was how uncomfortable you looked. Eli insisted that pretending to be your boyfriend meant he could touch and hold you as he pleased, making you so uncomfortable you wished you could disappear. He justified it as "part of the plan."
Race day was the first time you spoke to Charles again. His responses were curt and had an edge to them, which was unusual. All he wanted to do was pull you into his arms and kiss you before the race. Instead, you exchanged a meek, âGood luck, Charlie.â He simply nodded, determined to win for both of you.
When Charles miraculously won the race, his first thought was of you. He couldnât wait to see you and planned to pull you into his arms and whisper the same words heâd said while drunk. This time, though, he was sure you would understand, as you now knew some French. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. The strange feeling you had around Eli turned out to be justifiedâhe was trying to drug you, hoping to manipulate the situation to drive Charles away and take advantage of you himself.
Eli had been slipping drugs into the water you drank. He knew you didnât drink alcohol and had to be creative. Midway through the race, you began to feel dizzy, struggling to focus. Around lap 45, you sensed something was seriously wrong, and luckily, Rebecca noticed too. When Eli left momentarily to fetch more "water," you encountered Rebecca, who saw how pale and clammy you were. She informed Andrea and took you to the medical center, where you eventually collapsed.
When Charles crossed the finish line, he was on an emotional highâuntil he heard what happened to you. Charles never saw himself as a violent man, but when he heard about Eliâs plan, he couldnât hold back his fury. He confronted Eli, who confessed to his scheme. It was a stupid plan, one intended to tear apart two people who clearly belonged together. Charlesâs only concern, however, was you. Seeing you quiet and still made him realize how much he depended on your presence.
You had been unconscious for eight hours and were taken to a nearby hospital for safety. When you finally woke, you felt a rough hand over yours. Charles had stayed by your side the entire time, his eyes tired yet softening as you stirred. Slowly, your memory returned, and so did the panic of recent events. It took Charles an hour to calm you down. A week later, Eli was arrested for his crimes, and Charles barely left your side. Later that week, he finally asked you out.
He wasnât the smoothest, but he composed a song on the piano for you and played it as he invited you to a high-end restaurant youâd always dreamed of. Toward the end, he finally said the words in French that heâd kept close to his heart: âLa derniĂšre fois que j'ai eu le courage de te dire ces mots, j'Ă©tais ivre. Cette fois, je suis sobre, et je suis complĂštement amoureux de toi. S'il te plaĂźt, sois mon amant?â
You simply replied, âJ'ai toujours Ă©tĂ© Ă toi, Charlie. Tu m'as juste fait attendre." And thatâs how, against all odds, you two finally found each other.
French to English :
"My baby, I swear that Iâll make you my wife one day, my love. I wish I could say this sober."
"The last time I had the courage to say these words to you, I was drunk. This time, I'm sober, and I'm completely in love with you. Please, be mine?"
"I've always been yours, Charlie. You just made me wait."

love love love the rafe cameron x weirdgirl!reader au!! imagine reader at the country club overhearing some mean boys making fun of her and how rafe is crazy to date someone like her :(( she stays in her room after hearing this and rafe catches her biting herself and crying (she normally bites him but after hearing this she feels like she canât) oh my heart-
No bc this is like sooo perfect. This is literally so her. Iâve been having a lot of fun coming up with lore for her so Iâm so glad youâre liking her so far!! Warnings: (Iâd like to note that weird girl is autistic coded bc I am autistic), Reader gets her feelings hurt, protective Rafe, biting 18+MNDI!! Part of this AU
âYeah dude, sheâs like so hot until she opens her mouth.â Your footsteps come to a sudden halt, your shiny black Mary Janeâs squeaking against the polished wooden floors of the country club. Thereâs a group of guys about your age standing around the corner in a circle all snickering to each other.
âNo, yeah, like she says the fucking weirdest shit in that creepy little monotone voice. I have no idea how Rafe puts up with it.â
âThe pussy must be out of this world or some shit because I would never be able to handle that. I saw her last week on the beach collecting animal bones or some shit bro. Bet she went back to check on her kill.â The entire group starts busting up laughing just as you feel hot tears start to stream down your cheeks. You just want to leave but they are blocking the only path to the door so you suck it up and high tail it as fast as you past them.
You were waiting for Rafe to be done with his game of golf but after that? You really didnât want to bother him with wanting to leave early so you decided to just walk the mile and a half home. If you were lucky maybe youâd run into the neighborhood cat you befriended and he would walk part of the way with you.
When you get home you rush up the stairs and into your room, slamming the door behind you. Your head is swimming with negative thoughts. You were always scared you were too weird for Rafe, too much, too different from him. So when you hear guys he hangs around saying things like that about you? Itâs hard to not let it get to your head.
You kick off your shoes and practically tear off the cute outfit you spent over an hour putting together. You grab your pink fuzzy robe, and walk over to your bunnyâs cage, smiling down at her with watery eyes.
âI think youâre the only one that really understands me, Lydia.â Your bottom lip wobbles as you pick her up and walk over to your bed. You rock back and forth slightly as you caress her fur, trying to self soothe. Youâre realizing in this moment that maybe you really are too much for Rafe because you hardly remember how to calm yourself down without him.
You wish so badly that he was here. You know he would hold you tight and let you sink your teeth into him until your tears stopped flowing. It seems to be one of the only things that truly calms you down so you decide to bring your own hand up to your mouth and bite down on it. It soothes you a little, but it isnât Rafe. Heâs called you a few times but you just let it ring, heâs probably worried, but youâre too embarrassed to pick up.
âBaby? Are you here?â The minute you hear Rafeâs voice you want to run to him, but the words of the boys at the country club playing in your head on repeat in your head cements you in place. âBats?â
When he opens your bedroom door and takes in the sight of you his heart sinks.
âBaby girl, whatâs going on? What happened? Where did you go? You scared the shit outta me.â He rushes over to you, coming to sit next to you on your bed. He rests his large hands on your calves and rubs soothing circles on your skin with the pads of his thumbs. You whimper and shake your head, your mouth still latched onto your hand. âBatty, youâve gotta talk to me, okay? Tell me whatâs going on.â
âI wasâŠâ You pull your hand away from your face, resting it on Lydiaâs back as you pet her softly, the feeling of her fur grounding you. âI was coming back from the bathroom and I heard Jake and those guys⊠talking about me.â
âWhat about you?â Rafeâs voice takes on a protective tone, especially when another fit of sobs erupts through you. He hooks his arms under you so he can pull you and your bunny softly into his lap. âPrincess. Tell me what they said.â
âThey said - they said that they donât know how you put up with me because Iâm so weird and that youâre probably only with me because the pussy is good.â You sniffle as your tears continue to fall and if Rafe didnât know you needed him right now he would be on his way back to the club to beat all of their asses until they couldnât walk.
âHey, hey, nah, none of that.â He cups your face in his hand, wiping away your tears. âYou know I love you, all your weird shit and all. Iâm not âputting upâ with you, I fuckinâ love your weird little ass.â
âThey also⊠they also said that - that I probably kill animalsâŠâ You start sobbing again and Rafeâs entire body tenses. He knows how much you love animals, how important they are to you. He wants to fucking rip their throats out.
âPrincess⊠Iâm so sorry they said that. They just donât know you, aight? Youâd never harm a fly. Donât let that shit get to you. I know itâs hard, but fuck em, they donât know fuckinâ shit about my baby.â He gives you a reassuring smile as he wipes away some of your remaining tears. His hand swipes past your lips and you turn your head slightly to sink your teeth into it. He chuckles, leaning in to kiss your forehead. âThereâs my weird girl.â

Enemies to lovers would just be majestic for the plot in my opinion đ€. Anywaysssss thank u sm and remember to drink water đ«¶đ»
Art by: Kimmy_art0912 Pairing: Mob Boss Miguel x Wife reader Warnings: Mentions of blood, very mild violence, no use of y/n Summary: You and Miguel come from different mafia families, forced to be married in order to form an alliance as threat from an outside. However, you and Miguel can only tolerate each other, at best. A/N: I swear I scratched and rewrote this like five different times.I am sorry it took so long. I am slowly making my way back into writing. I do thank anon and everyone else for their patience as I slowly make my way back to life and I will be writing more Miguel fics soon. I may do a part two to this, depending on interest recieved. I have been getting into mafia books so I am going to be looking into those for inspo if I do make more parts to this. Also, very very light editing was done. Word Count: 4.6k
Your family and the OâHaraâs have been enemies since your ancestors set foot into this country. Both immigrating from nothing but the clothes on their backs and pennies to their name.Â
Your family started working in the food industry. Working in restaurants, bakeries, etc. Anything that had to do with food. Seven days a week. Working from twelve to fourteen hour shifts just to make ends meet. Your great great grandfather worked at the local deli as well as a restaurant. When he wasnât cutting up meat, he was in the kitchen making food. Your great great grandmother worked at the neighborhood bakery as well as the tailors. Her dream was to make clothes- dresses. She wanted to be a fashion designer. She started taking classes at the local college once they saved up enough money to invest in her studies.Â
Eventually, with their hard work and sacrifices, their dreams came true. Your family soon owned several restaurants as well as luxury boutiques. Everyone did their part in keeping the family businesses growing and going.Â
At first, it was all simply honest work. Your family stayed humble and grateful for their dedication. Then, with your great grandfather, things took a slight turn. He wanted to expand and turn into construction. Nueva York continued to go and grow, with more people coming to try to make a living and a name for themselves. And in that mix, people with bad intentions also tagged along. The family businesses were in jeopardy of being taken over or shut down completely by these power-hungry thugs. He did not want that. So, he and the rest of the family banded together and began hiring people who would be willing to work for them and protect them, whether they were military vets, criminals, or even cops. Anyone who was willing to protect the family.Â
Allyship with other mafia families also aided in the growth and protection. However, there was one family that yours always butted heads with.Â
The OâHaras. They immigrated from Ireland around the same time your great great grandparents did. They built their own businesses, casinos, hotels, and clubs- and wanted their own power and a spot with the elites of the criminal world.Â
At first, things were neutral between the two families. At one point, the two families were almost allies. However, one night, there was commotion going on at one of the OâHara nightclubs. Members of your family got into a tussle with the OâHara group and ended up being a blood bath, with both sides losing men.Â
Ever since then, things were tense, and the bloodshed continued to grow as oppositions rose.Â
No one really knew what it was that started the feud that night. Some suspected it had been over a woman. Others thought it was simply because some members were drunk and careless words were exchanged.
Either way, the rivalry continued on. Until a new threat entered the city. And there was no choice but to come together.Â
â
Itâs been six months since you moved into his house. Six months since you lost your freedom. Six months since you got married. To Miguel OâHara.Â
It all happened in an instant. First, you were out abroad, having recently gotten your first major job as a fashion designer in a luxury clothing company, wanting to be as successful as your great great grandmother, and now you were out on a little vacation to celebrate, when you received a call from your father, ordering you to come back home.Â
You shouldâve relished that Mediterranean breeze as long as you could, because once you got on that flight back home, your world was about to be flipped on its head.Â
âIâm sorryâŠWHAT?!â You screeched at your father, you only looked at you with his calm, cool, distant, expression as he inhaled into his cigar.
âYouâre getting married to Miguel OâHara,â he repeated.Â
âI heard what you said! But, why?!â
âThe OâHaras had agreed to a truce. Kingpin is gaining on both of our families. We are losing men and traction left and right. We agreed by aligning our families together, we will gain strength in numbers and influence.â
âAnd you are shipping me off into an arranged marriage! This isnât the medieval age or whatever!Â
Plus, with Miguel?! At least have me marry Gabriel. Heâs not an asshole like his brother.â
âMiguel is to become head of the OâHara family as he is the first born. Plus, his determination has been promising.â
You let out a groan. You could not believe this was happening. You never wanted to get sucked into this life. Thatâs why you went off to college. To try to get away and make a life of your own. Your efforts were proven to be futile as you felt the rug be pulled from under you and you were being dragged along with it to the same life you were trying to escape.Â
Your fatherâs eyes softened. A hint of sorrow filled them.Â
âI know, sweetheart. This isnât what I was hoping for you, either. But, it is the only way. We are running out of options. I am sure Miguel will take care of you, and you will be able to fulfill your dream of following your great great grandmotherâs footsteps. I am sure she would be proud to have someone actively expanding her fashion legacy..â
You still shook your head. It was just too much for you to take in. Plus, wasnât Miguel in a relationship with someone? Xina? No..they broke up months ago. Thatâs right. But, wait..he was seeing someone else? Ugh. The guy has a new girlfriend every other day.
Besides, you two did have a thing going on in the past. It wasnât serious. Mainly the occasional hookups. You two were of rivaling families, after all. You both did have your reasons for disliking each other. So, the sex was pretty much hate sex? If that made sense. It wasnât out of passion. Unless you could call hatred a passion.
Never did you think youâd actually be getting married to him.Â
After the news broke out that you and Miguel were to be wedded, everything went by in such a blur. Preparations for the wedding. The actual wedding. The honeymoon- which was hardly a honeymoon because neither of you actually spent any time together. It was just too awkward, and you knew that he wasnât happy with this arrangement as much as you were.Â
When you first moved into his house, you wanted to sleep in a separate room from him, and he agreed. However, when both of your parents found out about this, they were all livid.Â
âHow will you two get to know each other more and become intimate with each other if you are sleeping in separate beds?â Your mom cried one day when she came to visit you. You assured her there would be other situations where you and your husband would bond. Public situations where youâd be surrounded by other people and talking to those people rather than each other.Â
You two simply avoided each other as much as possible. And during the times when you two were together, your company was either met with silence or bickering. And sometimes even being at each otherâs throats.Â
He would call you names like âimmatureâ âwildâ ârowdyâ and so on, simply because you refused to listen to him whenever he demanded something from you.Â
Youâd retaliate and tell him that he was controlling and a perfectionist. Because well, he was. He had to have things done a certain way or it would ensue chaos. And while he was right about you being a little more rowdy and wild, it was simply because you had the luxury of growing somewhat more normal. Your parents did not drill the life of the mafia into your head the same way it was drilled into Miguelâs. Which is why you both clashed when trying to communicate with each other.Â
Right now, you were at home in the library. You spend a lot of time there, and while Miguelâs taste in reading wasnât usually to your taste, youâd sometimes find yourself reading some of the novels that he was currently reading, as well as reading some that youâve been purchasing and adding to the collection.Â
Which reminded you, you had to head over to the mall and purchase the next book of a spicy romance series youâd been reading. As well as look for an outfit to wear at the next charity event you and Miguel would be attending.Â
One of the few things you liked about Miguel was that he was very generous and active in the community, helping those less fortunate.
Placing the book down, you rubbed your bag and keys and decided to head out for a bit. Saying goodbye to the house staff as you walked past them, you made your way to the garage, which housed Miguelâs collection of cars, ranging from vintage to sporty and modern to big black suvs that youâd use whenever a bodyguard was transporting you somewhere, like parties. You never understood why someone needed so many cars but, whatever, as long as it wasnât your money being spent.Â
You made your way over to your car, glad that you were able to bring it with you when you got married. It was your baby. One of the few things you were able to bring with you.Â
Glancing over at the clock on the dashboard, you bit your bottom lip. You should have enough time to purchase some books before heading off to your parents for a bit. You did promise them you would show up. They were planning lunch for you. It was your birthday today, after all.Â
â
Miguel stood in front of the battered man that kneeled before him, hearing the groaning of pain coming from their mouth as blood pooled around the cement floor.Â
Miguelâs knuckles were bleeding. But, it wasnât his own blood, but the blood of the poor bastard that withered before him. Miguel didnât like to use violence. He thought it was a primitive way of negotiating with his enemies. However, there were times when a little violence was necessary to get his point across. And to send a message.Â
Why was this man being battered like a sack of potatoes?Â
The man spat blood, a tooth or two flying out with the glob of blood as he remained strapped to his chair. His face was covered in blood. Beat up and mangled by the hands of the tall, brooding man before him.Â
Miguel slowly knelt down before the man, taking a fistful of his hair, forcing him to look up into his almost amber eyes.Â
â Eres un demonio! (You're a demon). Not even the devil himself will want you!â the man spat, a glob of blood landing on Miguelâs cheek.
Miguel let out a hum of disinterest. His eyes lacked any life in them. However, this was when he felt the most alive, seeing his enemies cowering and crumbling before him.Â
He took out a handkerchief from his breast pocket and cleaned the blood from his cheek before tossing the now soiled material at the manâs feet.Â
âI take that as a compliment, you know. Maybe I want the devil himself to fear me.â
Miguel took out a cigar from his coat pocket and lit it before giving it a deep inhale and exhaled a heavy cloud of smoke at the manâs face. He couldn't believe that one of Kingpin's goons had infiltrated his circle and posed himself as someone who could've been trusted. Miguel was definitely going to send that fat son of a bitch a message, by killing this guy and sending his corpse back to Kingpin's front door.Â
Not only that, but it also meant that they were going to have to redo background checks on everyone working for the OâHaras. That was going to be a pain in the ass.
"Gabriel! Hand me my gun," Miguel called out to his brother.
Gabriel, Peter, and Ben were all standing several feet behind Miguel, all watching as their boss beat and battered the man before them.Â
Gabriel was Miguelâs right hand now that their father had stepped down as head of the OâHara family. Many thought Gabriel was going to take charge, however, Miguel was much more brutal and cut-throat than Gabriel. It made sense for Miguel to take up the mantle, despite him being an illegitimate son.Â
Plus, Gabriel preferred being on the sidelines instead of making the decisions.Â
Gabriel made his way over to his older brother, handing him the gun before stepping back to his original spot.Â
âNow. We can do this the easy way. Where I ask you a couple of questions and answer them. Or, we can do this the hard way, when I ask you said questions and if you refuse to answer them, I get to shoot you anywhere I want.â
âI would rather you just shoot me! I will never answer to you!â The man croaked.Â
âYou never got shot before, have you?â Miguel hummed as he removed the safety from the gun and cocked it before pulling the trigger, shooting the man on the foot.Â
The man let out a screeching howl as he thrashed on the chair, letting out a series of curses.Â
Miguel simply nodded his head. âThatâs what I thought. So..shall we begin?â
The whole ordeal took only a matter of minutes, as Miguel wasted no time in trying to get his questions answered. The man was not sitting lifeless on the chair as bullet holes decorated his body.Â
Kingpin had sent a lower ranked grunt to spy on them, trying to scope up any valuable information to report back to his true boss. Unfortunately for Kingpin, those in the lower ranks didnât really get to be part of the action and behind-closed door discussions, so, this manâs life was unnecessarily wasted.Â
âSend his body back to Kingpin. Just leave him on his doorstep,â Miguel said as he examined his suit, letting out a grunt when he saw small splatters of blood. He was going to have to go home and change. âWill do. You should start heading back home. I am sure you wife is waiting for you,â Gabriel said as Peter and Ben began placing the body into a black body bag and carried him out to the waiting pick-up truck.Â
Miguel pinched the bridge of his nose. He didnât hate you, but he knew that you hated him. And you had every right. You got married to him out of force, and while that wasnât necessarily his fault, he didnât blame you for holding a grudge on him.Â
âKeep me posted on any activity. I need updated background checks on everyone working for us. We canât let anyone else slip through the cracks,â Miguel stated as he made his way over to his car, with his brother following behind him. Gabriel nodded his head as he watched his brother leave.Â
He had to make sure no on in his inner circle was actually working for Kingpin. Is someone indeed was, might as well just shut everything down then and there.Â
No. Miguel wouldnât give up just like that. He would just have to work harder and steer Kingpin off track.Â
But, for the time being, his main goal was to get back home and get to his wife. It was your birthday, after all.
â
You spent the majority of the day with your parents. You had gone over to your former home- which you still miss deeply. It was such a stark contrast from where you lived now. There was just so much character, so much history in this house. It was the same house your great great grandfather had bought as a gift to his lovely wife, your great great grandmother, once their businesses were booming.
It had twelve bedrooms and sixteen bathrooms. A library where your mother would take you to read. When you were young, youâd pick out a book for your mother to read to you in bed. Mainly a fairy tale story.Â
You always thought your life would be a fairy tale. You always imagined yourself as the princess or heroine, going on adventures and falling in love. However, the universe was not like those in the stories. Maybe in an alternate universe. But, not in this one.Â
Instead, you were forced to marry the enemy in hopes of forming an alliance. Which, depending on how you looked at it, couldâve been seen as a fairytale. It didnât feel like it. You werenât in love with Miguel. You tolerated each other at best. Plus, you guys had shared history which made things pretty awkward at times.Â
â-
You were back home, waiting for your darling husband to come home and wish you a Happy Birthday. He also supposedly promised to take you out to dinner. It was really an attempt for you two to get somewhat closer together. But, you werenât sure how well that would play out. You both liked to push each otherâs buttons. You were sure it would occur tonight. And honestly, you wouldnât want to have it any other way. You wanted to be a thorn on his side. He was always so full of himself. Always thought himself to be this bigshot. Untouchable. Unweavered. You loved proving him wrong.Â
You continued to wait and wait. The house staff had left for the night, including Miss Cheryl, your personally favorite housekeeper. She was an older woman, possibly in her mid-fifties. You never cared to ask her- mainly because you didnât want to be rude and you actually liked her.Â
Looking up at the clock in Miguelâs office, you saw that it was already seven thirty in the evening. Reservations were supposedly made for eight. Miguel had thirty minutes to get there.Â
A part of you didnât really care if he had forgotten or just waved it off. You didnât want to force yourself to be nice with him, because who knew, you might just throw a glass of wine at him just as you did during your wedding reception.
You could hear a chime coming from the Alexa that rested on Miguelâs desk, signaling that someone had entered the house.Â
Finally. You honestly thought he wasnât going to come.Â
Raising from his chair, you decided to go ahead and greet your husband.Â
He was making his way upstairs as you made your way down the hallway, both of you making eye contact.Â
âYouâre late. I thought you werenât going to come,â you said, crossing your arms over your chest.Â
As Miguel stepped closer, you could notice blood splattered on his white shirt.Â
âI know. Let me get changed real quick,â he replied as he walked past you.Â
You knew Miguel had a way of dealing with those who wronged him. You have seen his blood-stained knuckles, bloodied shirts and a dangerous look in his eyes. Itâs pretty much like in the movies. Some poor unlucky soul gets tortured to death by the boss or someone higher up. Youâd like to think that Miguel isnât simply killing people just because of blood-lust. While it wasnât your business to judge, you didnât want to be married to someone who is a little too eager to get blood on his hands.Â
You made your way to his room, standing by the door as you watched Miguel slip on a fresh pair of pants and button-up shirt, something more suitable for dinner. Once he was finished, he took another look at you, furrowing his brows a bit.Â
âWhat?â You questioned.Â
âWhat are you wearing?âÂ
âWhat do you mean âwhat are you wearingâ?â You asked, looking down at your dress.Â
âDonât you think thatâs too revealing?â He asked.Â
âWhat? Revealing? Where? Donât tell me showing a little leg and shoulder is prohibited. Come on! This is the height of fashion right now, as well as demonstrating body positivity.â Miguel simply gave you a look as if in disgust. Not for the body positivity part. But rather your fashion choices. He was aware of your familyâs success in the fashion industry. He even applauded it. But, he was also a man with much simpler tastes. Tastes that you would sometimes groan over.Â
âWell, Iâm not changing, so letâs just get going,â you said as you grabbed a shawl to compliment your dress, and to shut Miguel up.Â
The ride to the restaurant was quiet, save for the music that was playing on the radio. You two had very different music tastes. Not surprising. Sometimes youâd change the station or hook up your phone to Bluetooth. But, you tried to sit back and let him listen to his music this time.Â
When you two managed to get there, Miguel stopped in front of the valet and got out. The valet driver in-waiting opened the car door for you to help you get out as Miguel rounded the car, handing the keys over to the young man who then took the sleek black suv to the parking garage.Â
He gave you his arm to take. It had become routine. Show some sort of display of affection while in public. You never knew who could be watching. Sometimes cameras would pop out in front of you two.Â
The proposal was rushed. The engagement. The wedding. People grew suspicious, and rightfully so. Your families quickly came up with a story of how you and Miguel were seeing each other in secret despite the rivalry of the families. The alleged secrecy of romance and hurried marriage gave you two the the title of Romeo and Juliet. Two star-crossed lovers who went against all odds just to be together despite your families and their differences. But, unlike the story, your ending didnât result in a double-suicide, but rather acceptance, wedding bells, and peace between the two families. Everyone bought it. Well..almost everyone.Â
As you two made your way inside and were greeted by the hostess, you were taken to a more secluded area of the restaurant. There, the table had been set up especially for you. A bottle of wine rested over a bed of ice, candles were lit on the table, as well as around the perimeter of your area. It would have been romantic, had you actually had romantic feelings for Miguel.
Still, he was a gentleman and he did go out of his way to reserve a nice place for you.
He pulled a chair out for you to sit and scooted you in before taking his seat across from you. The music from a live pianist in the main dining hall still reached your private area. Had it not been for them, the room wouldâve been dead silent as you and Miguel silently looked through your menus.Â
âCan I pour you a glass of your wine?â A waitress asked onceshe approached your table. She was young. Tall and thin with big blue eyes and blonde hair tied up in a ponytail. And wearing way too much makeup. At least for your tastes.Â
You could see how she was looking at Miguel, batting her fake eyelashes. You thought they were either going to fall off or send her flying away. Either way, you simply rolled your eyes. You didnât care if Miguel got hit on, but come on, at least not while you were right there to see.Â
âYes, thank you,â Miguel said, giving her a charming smile. It made you roll our eyes again. Yes, he was being polite and all, but you could see right through him.Â
âCan I offer you both an appetizer to start?â She then asked, still looking over at Miguel.Â
Miguel then looked over to you, giving you a nod. âWould you like something to start with?â
âYes, actually. Some bread for the table. they usually bring it out at the beginning,â you started. Which was true. You were just trying to be a little petty.Â
âAnd how about some crab cakes and a salad for the table?â
The waitress nodded her head, her smile now a straight line. So straight, you could swipe your card through it like a card reader.Â
âYes, of course. I will put those in for you and bring you your bread,â she said before leaving the table.Â
You simply rolled your eyes once again as you settled back against your seat.Â
âHow was lunch with your family?â Miguel then asked, trying to make conversation.Â
âIt was fine,â you responded. Usually, your responses would be short, and Miguel wouldnât entertain the topic further. You knew you should at least try to get along with him, giving that you are married and that you will be spending the rest of your life with him. You simply assumed that it just hadnât kicked in yet. You were going to try, though.Â
One day.
âAh, Mr. OâHara! Mrs. OâHara! A pleasure to see you two here tonight!â Someone behind you exclaimed. You could hear their heavy footsteps before turning around and seeing the owner and head chef of the restaurant. âJavier. A pleasure to see you,â Miguel said. âWe were just celebrating my wifeâs birthday.â âAh! Of course! Happy birthday, Mrs. OâHara. You look as stunning as ever,â Javier exclaimed. The man was five foot three, a mix of tan to sunburned skin, and all round. He kind of reminded you of the Pillsbury mascot. He looked so squishable and jolly.Â
âActually, Javier. Would you mind me having a word with you, real quick?â Miguel then asked, scooted his chair back from the table and stood, easily towering over the man.Â
âO-oh! O-of cours! Of course! Come, come! Letâs step to the side,â Javier stated, now looking a little nervous as he led Miguel out of the room, leaving you alone.Â
All while Miguel was having his private conversation with Javier, the waitress came back with the bread and appetizers.Â
âWe are going to need a couple of minutes,â you stated as she placed everything onto the tables.Â
âOf course! Iâll make my way back around in a few minutes,â the waitress said, giving you a tight-lipped smile. Â
You tried your best to not roll your eyes at her again as she left. Letting out a sigh, you decided to dig into the bread and appetizers. You sure werenât going to wait for Miguel to come back to start eating. You never waited for him. Not because you didnât want to, but because you knew youâd be waiting forever for him.Â
â
Soon enough, you were back home. You were still slightly curious about the conversation Miguel had with Chef Javier. But, you didnât think you should press Miguel about it. Some things were meant to be kept in private. Besides, you wanted no part of this whole mafia stuff. It had stolen so much of your freedom already. You wanted to remain ignorant of what goes on behind closed doors as much as possible.Â
You both made your way upstairs, neither of you speaking as you made your way to your rooms for the night.Â
Tomorrow you were planning on heading over to the boutique. Your cousin was currently operating it and sometimes youâd go to help her out. It helped you get out of the house every once in a while. Plus, you were usually filled with inspiration when you were surrounded by your familyâs clothing. You were still working on your portfolio to give out to various companies, in hopes they would hire you.Â
You were confident that they would. You were talented. Plus, you have your familyâs name to back you up. Now, all you had to do was to make sure you get a good nightâs rest so you could get up refreshed.Â

Ë âș â«ŸââGB 7.2k+ words .
JING YUAN CANâT help it. He doesn't know what drives him to do it; to stare at you until holes are burned in you or touch you carelessly or talk about you like you're a piece of meat, he can't help it. It's akin to a primal urge, or manly instinct that makes him defile you disgustingly and unapologeticallyâand it makes him feel like a gross teen boy whose dick grows hard at the simple mention of women, but it's something about this aura of naivety and peace that swarms you that brings this carnal desire out of him. Youâre the perfect prey, helpless, unsuspecting, and trusting of the ill-intended, hungry predator. Everything makes his heart flutter and his stomach gnarlâhe turns into a different man because of you.
Friendly, neighborhood, retired Army General and current Xianzhou Police Chief Jing Yuan was a mask to cover perverse, snobby, and icky pervert Jing Yuan; the one who got a kick at making you do silly tasks so he can stare up your skirt and who always told you to take a seat so he can press up on you and grope you indistinctly. He sees you and immediately a deviant fire is kindled in his chest, his cheeks heat up and his skin runs cold. It's nasty, but he can't help it.
He needs you selfishly. He can't stand to watch you talk to other men and tend to their needsâsure, it's your job to pour them lemonade and escort them to the spa and guide them around the country club for a look at all the activities, and he respects that you're a hard and diligent worker, but seeing you with other men boils his blood. It's as if the lines between reality and his fucked up fantasy world have blurred, and you belong to him, you're his woman and he stakes his claim on you like a wild animal. Jing Yuan likes how you don't question how he suddenly needs your assistance, and that it's impossible for anyone but you to do it, because it lets these other men know that you respond to him. He's never felt this way about a woman before, not even the mother of his own child, so it means you're special. You mean much deeper to him than you could ever understand and all he wants is your company and to love you down into the cage of his heart.
It's not a crime to have a crush. It's not a crime to be in love with a woman you barely know. And it's not a crime to imagine her stuffed with your kids after watching her interact with yours. A crime? No. Weird? Maybe; but Jing Yuan does it anyway.
On the occasion when he brings Yanqing to the club, he gets on his best behavior. They play friendly games of golf and lounge about in the garden area, and eat up a storm in the illustrious dining hallânormal father-and-son things. Nothing out of the ordinary, people wouldn't even know that all Jing Yuan could think about was you and how sweet your pussy must taste as he eats ice cream with his son. He stays on his best outward behavior, trulyâyou wouldn't have even known he was in the bathroom jerking off because something about you today set him off.
He walks into the dining hall, looking around to see you. Yanqing had run off to the pool ages ago, so Jing Yuan had some time to himselfâŠor, rather, time for you and him. He thought about how he would take you and claim you for far too long now. He thinks about it too much, actually. And thatâs insane; considering the fact that you only started working at Stargazer Navalia Country Club two months ago.
He goes to his usual spot: against the wall on the northeastern side of the hall. It's slightly tucked away, the ceiling lights on that side are dim and the roaming eyes of others are limited. It's perfect for him when he touches you and even more perfect to convince you to have a seat and chat with him. You always listen, always fall for his lonely old man act, even though you've seen him with his snob friends Luocha and Dan Feng, and he's more than well-known around the communityâheâs far from lonely, but his lips utter such pitiful deception that you can't help but spare him some of your company.
Jing Yuan has been doing this for a few weeks. Heâll invite you over for a refill of the house's special lemonade, sipping the juice as soon as you finish pouring, letting his lips smack obnoxiously, his tongue running across his top lip, and muttering out an âAhh, so sweetâŠâ, keeping eye-contact with you. His plump, rosy lips will break into a smile at your widened eyes and flustered expression, and that's when he asks you to stay. âWouldnât you give me a moment of your time? CâmonâŠcall itâŠcustomer service.â
Usually, heâll sit across from you and ask about your day. Heâll listen to your short spiels about your coworkers or your university and even your extremely personal information about your family and friends. It's cute how you open up with abandon, and he likes how apologetic you get when you feel like youâve spoken too much. Heâll reach across the table and tap your pouted lips, âItâs okay, sweetheart. Keep going,â and he stares at your lips as you talk his ear off. But todayâtoday, Jing Yuan is pushing the limits.
He invited you over, and instead of you sitting across from him, he pulls the chair next to him. Your proximity is close, no closer than ever before, but close enough that you feel like he can hear your heartbeat. He drapes a buff arm around the back of your chair, the pads of his fingers just barely ghosting over your biceps. He takes a deep breath, presumably to settle into his seat but actually to breathe you in. You smell sweet. He wonders if you taste sweet.
âHow was your day?â the man starts. It's okay, it's fine, itâs just Jing Yuanâheâs fine! You nod your head, âOkayâŠnot too eventful but umâŠkind of busy.â He immediately replies âYeah? Tell me about it.â
Your shift started at eleven o'clock this morning, and you clocked in slightly late earning your managers, Ms. Yukong, mouthful of scolding. âAgain? This is the third time in a rowâŠâ She was a strict woman. Yukong was adamant about running an establishmentânot a job. In her mind, there's a distinct difference, a fine line that separates Stargazer Navalia Country Club from other leisure resorts, and that line was drawn by poise, professionalism, and punctuationâthe three Ps. You essentially lacked all of that. Youâre always late, and if youâre not late, youâre just barely making it, you run around a lot and don't collect yourself. Oftentimes, you take on too much than you can handle and overwhelm yourself, making a fool of yourself before the very opinionated eyes of the patrons. And you were clumsy. The country club was your first service job and your first job ever. You wouldn't have gotten the job if your parents didnât force independence upon you and you complained to your friend, Tingyun, about your unfair predicament, and she promised to put in a good word for you to her boss. That good word was a basket full of fabrications and exaggerations. Yukong told you that you were fortunate to be allowed to work at the club, but it was hanging in the balance if you didnât step up your game.
Jing Yuan hadnât expected a full rant, but he was glad that you felt like you could talk to him. He wants to hold you, tell you that Yukong is a miserable bitch and she doesn't know what the hell she's talking about. You can't do any wrongâthat woman wouldnât know poise, professionalism, and punctuation if it slapped her across the face, so who was she to criticize perfection?
He gets even more upset when your chest starts to heave and youâre blinking back tears, explaining how you cried after leaving Yukongâs office and felt so useless and stupid. And you made it your mission today to do your best. No overworking, no clumsiness, and no more strikes earned. Your head was on a dart board, and Yukong was aiming at the bullseye.
You told him you just wanted to be good. To be worth something because you aren't incompetent. If only you knew how he saw you.
Tears run down your warm cheeks and your frowned lips curve into a sad smile, a laugh escaping as you pat away tears from your eyes. âSorry, I donât mean to cryâŠâ
ââŠI should be getting back to workâŠâ You move to get up but Jing Yuan stops you, his big hand on your thigh. This isn't new, but your eyes meet and you almost burst into tears again. Your lips frown up again and quiver and your eyes gloss overâoh, you poor thing. He squeezes your thigh as if to tell you youâre okay, but when that doesn't seem to stop the tidal wave of tears from beating at the barrier of your blinking eyelids, he pulls you in.
It's a hug. You've hugged people before. You do it all the time. Even to himâyouâve hugged Jing Yuan before, but this? This is different. He cradles the back of your head as you rest your cheek on his shoulder and he kisses your hair softly. Heâs warm, like the summer heat, and your body feels like itâs on fire. His fingers stroke at your hair as if he was trying to soothe your feelings, and it works, you sniffle and softly whimper, curling your fingers against his thighs. He's taking care of you and if only you could understand what youâre doing to him. His cock is slowly growing stiffer and heat lights beneath his skin as it does yours. You feel so weak and small in his hold and God, is it doing something to him. Your breathing brushes your tits against his side and he wants to feel them pressed against his chest as he pounds into you. Your sniffles and tears that form small puddles on his shirt make him think about how you would cry from overstimulation and his big cock stretching you out.
He needs to get a grip. To stop his gross thoughts but it's no use when your entire existence is an aphrodisiac to him. It was a short hug, no longer than a minute, but it felt like it lasted a lifetime. When you pull away, Jing Yuan can't look at you. He can't look at your flushed cheeks, glossy eyes, clumped lashes, and pouted lipsâhe canât look because he wonât be able to contain himself. You clear your throat and sit up, wiping your eyes and smudging your cheap mascara. Heâs slightly upset that youâre leaving already, so before you go, he pinches the hem of your shirt, pulling you back.
âIt's gonna be okay, little one. Have a good day.â He pats your head and smiles at you. You get flustered and quickly nod, running off as if to disappear.
You find it hard to have a good day when youâre wrapped up in your head, thinking about Yukong, yourself, and Mr. Jing Yuan. He was a nice man, sometimes too nice and you were unsure if that was a negative or a positive.
His touches feel like theyâre burned into your skin. When you think about his tight, warm, and world-erasing hug, your skin tingles and births goosebumps to the surface. When you think about his deep, reverberating voice praising you and denying the existence of imperfection in you, you run hot. Itâs a dangerous juxtaposition that left you an unfocused mess, productivity being the last thing of your concern. How bothered your body felt was in big bold letters in your brain, and it was hard to not prove Yukongâs harsh words about you right. You needed to get it together, but it was hard when Jing Yuan lingered in your mind like a deadly plague.
You catch Tingyun up during your dishes duty, scrubbing the dirtied plates, bowls, spoons, and forks and passing them to the girl to be dried. She laughs at you, shaking her head as she spins her hand around the inside of the porcelain bowl. âCan I be honest with you?â You nod at Tingyunâs question, âhis intentions are less than pure. Heâs nice and all but I think you should create boundaries. I don't like how every time you tell me about him he's grabbing on you and stuffâŠâ
You have an issue with seeing the best in people. You canât see anybody as evilâtheir actions donât define their character in your mind and that's a fatal flaw. You shake your head at Tingyunâs words, smiling, âI donât agree. Heâs justâŠI donât know.â you shut the water off, and set down the plate in your hand. âI think heâs just lonelyââ
ââHe has friends. His golfing budsâŠ?â She points out. You sigh and shake your head. âYeah, but they don't come to the club often.â
Tingyun rolls her eyes. âCan you be for real? What company can you provide to a man whoâs nearly double your age?â
On that front, Tingyun had a point. Youâre still in college, barely coasting your way through your third year and Jing Yuan is in his mid-to-late thirties, pushing forty. He was a dad and you were a student. He lived his lifeâheâs on his second career, and youâve only just barely begun working your first job. You never knew what to talk to him about and you never understood what he talked about. There was a disconnect, but you felt like that didn't impede the slight friendship you had. âHe just needs someone to talk to!â
âDidn't know talking included his hands on your ass but okay.â Her snide remark makes you frown. He wasnât all that bad. Tingyun didn't get it.
Her eyes immediately meet yours and she softens. âSorry.â You nod to her apology, cutting the tap back on and resuming your work. You didn't like to be judgemental and you wanted to give Jing Yuan the benefit of the doubt. He wasnât all that bad and you liked himâfor the most part. She pats your shoulder softly. She does mean well. âJust be safe, okay?â
âYou never know whatâs going on in someone's head.â
Itâs so hot. The weather forecast called for unbearable heat and ungodly levels of humidity. The sun was angry at the world, shining down harshly and roasting your skin. Surprisingly, the club had seen the most members today. It was filled to the brim, bustling and condensing heat at every corner that you couldnât escape.
Your uniform was dripping in sweat and it was sticking to your skin. Your hair, pulled away from your face, felt like it was dripping onto your shoulders. You were hot. And luckily for you, Qingque had taken off from work today due to the heat, leaving her shift open. You swooped in and took the role, slipping off your uniform when the clock hit 2:30 and sliding into the lifeguard swimsuit. It was tight fitting but comfortable and paired with the visor blocking the mean sun from your face, you felt fine.
Lathering a security layer of sunscreen onto your skin, you make your way to the pool, reciting Yukongâs words in your head. You had met with her at the beginning of your shift where she told you this was your last chance. Lifeguarding wasnât some fun easy-money task. Screwing around the way you usually do could be at the cost of someoneâs life and she wouldnât put anyone at risk. At all. So you go with your head up and a warm smile, climbing up and sitting down with a hawk eye on the pool.
The water was clear blue and rippling. Bare flesh and bright swimsuits are blurred and hazy under the surface of the water. Itâs a nostalgic scene, sweet chatter and giggles from the playing children, splashing water, and pattering wet feet on the hot pavement work together to induce peace upon you. This is a scene you could get used to, especially when Jing Yuan emerges from the water.
He looks divine. His upper body is exposed, large muscles flexed as he lifts his body weight from beneath the water, resting on the edge of the pool. His water-darkened hair slumps heavily in his ponytail, flipping over as he shakes his head, ridding of the water. And the water spills down his skin deliciously, thick droplets pathing down his body. Itâs a sight to behold and you can't help but stare.
Jing Yuan wonders if this is how you feel. Ogled and objectified down to the bone. Your shade-hidden eyes bore into him when they should be watching the children. But he likes it. He feels like today is going to be a good day.
He comes to the pool often, usually just watching Yanqing show him his âtricksâ, but he notices the order. The lifeguards cycle every forty-five minutes. He noticed it the first time when one of them took off immediately after jumping in after a panicking Yanqing, but today it was going to come to his aid. Today was the day. Heâd waited too long, thought about it too hardâŠJing Yuanâs fantasy world was going to pour into reality. That in itself was a terrible horror.
He waits patiently for forty-five minutes. Splashing water with his son occasionally, stepping out of the pool for a rest, or waving at you as he floats atop the water. Forty-five minutes. Tick tock.
He stops you on your way inside. His towel was thrown over his shoulder and his wet hair slung up into his fixed ponytail. Youâre so enthralled by his state that you aren't taking into consideration the lazily fabricated lie that he needed your urgent attention to. You were no dummy. Jing Yuan is an overly attractive man, but he was out of your league and the father to a boy only seven years younger than you. Your lives were incompatible and frankly, he wasn't what you were looking for. Attractive? Yes. Boyfriend material? Not so much.
Regardless, you follow him to the locker room to look for his supposed missing watch. You ask him where his locker is located and he points around the corner, â125D.â His locker is tucked off around the corner, deep in the row and far from anyoneâs initial line of sight. You see his golf bag resting against the wall and Yanqingâs goggles on the bench and make your way to it, âWhere did you last have the watch?â
This was way out of your jurisdiction, and, besides, he was the police chiefâwhat the hell could you do to help him find a missing watch? Nonetheless, you listen intently as he provides the details: he took it off to go swimming, placed it on the shelf in the locker, and came back to find it missing. You nod slowly, diligently looking through the slim locker. Thereâs not much in it and not much space a watch could slip through, so youâre confused. It's clearly not here. âI don't think I can be much help for you, youâre better off checking with whoever was in here last.â
And then his body is close to you. Your proximity thickens with the chlorine and sandalwood scent he carries, and his broad form towers over you. Your breath hitches and your body tenses as a large hand lays against the back of your thigh, running up your bare skin until it meets the curve of your ass. He doesn't say anything. Neither do you. You feel like youâre frozen, stuck beneath him, and that only urges him further.
His other arm wraps around your waist and he pulls you in, resting his chin on your shoulder and breathing you in with a deep breath. You can feel his exhale on your neck and you shudder, pushing away to create distance. Jing Yuan only tightens his big grip on you, âI want youâŠâ he murmurs, leaning into your neck. His lips ghost over your skin and you squirm, trying to wriggle out of his grasp. This can't be happening. Not here. Not now.
You try to tell him that but it's futile. He presses his slightly chapped lips against your neck in fluttery kisses, wrapping his lips around nips of skin every now and then and leading a path to your collarbone. He steals a look at you from the side, âTell me you don't want this and I'll stop.â
He now frames your body beneath his, pressing you against the cold lockers. You wince at the harshness of how he handles youâhow his hands incessantly run up and down your body and gropes your assets and how he grinds his dick against your ass. He breathes heavily against you, grunting and growling in your ear as he edges himself closer and closer to the brink of losing control.
You try to speak up. To tell him you can't do this and that here is not the place. But you part your lips to object, only for a whimper to escape in its place. Youâre shaking your head no but it opposes the sounds that leave you and the subconscious grind back of your hips. Jing Yuan uses his right hand to cup your pussy with a hardened gaze watching your reaction: your eyes widen and then squeeze shut, and you roll your lips inward, pressing them shut. He feels a slight throb when he presses his fingers against your sex, and the heat that radiates from you is all telling. âStop fighting itâŠdonât deny itâŠyou need me to take care of you.â
Kisses on your neck resume as he rubs your clothed clit, using the way your knees buckle as leverage to slightly bend your over, grinding into you rougher. âCan't you feel how hard you make me, baby? Fuck,â he whispers, his grinding now turning into desperate rutting. âIndulge me, just a littleâŠsay yesâŠâ
Youâre shaking your head no, fighting his words. You think that if you close your eyes hard enough youâll wake up in the real world and this will have all just been in your head. The sight of the lockers in front of you dispels that thought instantly. You fight against your own body, swallowing down the sounds of pleasure that rumble in you at his touch. You promised Yukong you would do a better job. You liked working here. If she found out you had sex with a customer during work hours in the public locker room, sheâd have your head on stake. But God, he knew what he was doing. Itâs like Jing Yuan knows how to get into your head. All of his innuendos day in and day out, his flirtatious banter, and his wandering eyes the past few months have been test runs on you that heâs conducted for his fucked up memory log. So he could prepare for this moment. So he knew how to make you weak and make you succumb to his advances. You were a nice girl with a hard time saying no. You always indulged his requests and always did what was told to you. His constant âSay yes, baby. Say it. You know you want this,â in your ear was persuasive enough for your weak resolve. Soon enough, youâre quietly parroting his words.
âY-yesâŠIâŠI want it,â you huff out, and he stops.
Jing Yuan lets you goâpulling off of you and spinning you around. Then, heâs swiftly pushing you against the lockers, caging you in with his big arms on either side of you. His golden eyes are richer, darkened with fantasy and lust as they bore into yours. His rosy lips curve into a sinister smirk, âLook me in my eyes and say you want me to fuck you.â
Your eyes meet, locking with each other softly. Youâre telling yourself in your head that you can say no, but your mouth moves first, âI want youâŠtoâŠâ you grow shy at the words, and Jing Yuan smiles at you. He steps closer, grabbing your chin softly and your waist with his free hand, pulling you in. âSweet girlâŠâ he mumbles, brushing his lips against yours and bumping your noses.
Your kiss is sweet. It's the type of fairytale kiss, the type of wonderful kiss that whips the air out of you and has fireworks blowing in your pretty little head. Your lips mold and work together, and he takes his time getting acquainted with your mouth. He waits until you part your lips on your own to invade your mouth, and even then, he tenderly explores the cavern. He kisses you with dominance and experience. He kisses you with passion and desire. He kisses you like heâs in love with you.
You wrap your hands around his neck, pulling him into you, chasing his kiss as if he was trying to leave you. It begins to heat up. Impatience grows like mold between the two of you, you begin to want and need each other more. His hand gripping your chin wraps briefly around your neck to pull you closer, and his hand around your waist moves to your ass, cupping a cheek in his palm and roughly squeezing. He sucks on your tongue, moaning deeply into your mouth. Teeth start to clash and tongues start to bump and spin, spit dribbling out of your mouths. He bites onto your bottom lip as he pulls away, and then catches the drool running down your face with his tongue, running back up on its path to your mouth. With your saliva on his tongue, he kisses you harshly one last timeâa kiss that makes you lean your head against the lockers behind you, giving him access to the expanse of your neck.
He admires the hickeys he already left, kissing them tenderly before leaving a few more. His teeth drag on your neck, and he's pulling the straps of your swimsuit down your arms. It's agonizingly slow and you look away, not able to face him as he unveils your body to him.
It's like a dream. Even better than. All of his fantasies and perverted thoughts haven't done any justice to how you lookâthe most perfect, pretty boobs with hard nipples that are begging to be played with, the most gorgeous frame that pops even more without your clothes, your dips and curves begging to be filled by his grip, and your pretty pussy, which he takes his time getting to and unveiling. He gets on his knees, kisses your soft thighs, and slowly pulls your swimsuit down to your ankles. You try to hide, feeling vulnerable and anxious in your fully naked state but he pulls your legs apart, kissing the inside of your thigh. âYouâre beautifulâŠâ
âPrettiest thing I've ever seenâŠâ he says, trailing up your legs. He doesn't give you time to fall into your mind. He exhales deeply, letting the air from his nose blow against your pussy. You squirm but he pulls your legs apart again, looking up at you as he places a chaste kiss on your slit.
Youâre already wet, susceptible to his touch, and fragile. You slightly leak past your labia and his lips shine in your slick. Eye contact remains as he licks your arousal off his lips, swallowing your taste with a satisfied hum. âSo sweet, too. Better than I ever imagined.â
Something about his admission flusters you. You knew he enjoyed your company, but you didn't know he put thought into you this way. It flatters you, to say the least, and your body responds in a very telling way: your clit throbbing and hole clenching in need.
Jing Yuan smiles at how you can't hold eye contact with him and how you look down at him with urging eyes. Your body gives him the okay your mouth fails to do, and he dives in, wedging his tongue between your folds to lick a thick stripe. You gasp loudly and slam your palm against the locker behind you, seemingly caught off guard by his action. And then he does it again. This time, making his way to your clit slowly, only to circle around the bud but not pay it any attention. And again, this time only lightly flicking your clit with his tongue and ghosting over it but ultimately focusing on collecting your sweet juices, slurping it down with an obnoxious volume.
Your position is fixedâyouâre stuck. Your legs are draped over his shoulders as you basically sit on his face, and he holds you tightly by your soft thighs. Your gaze is filed unto each other, unmoving, and he watches with glee at how you react when he finally gives your clit attention. He wraps his lips around the bud, sucking it into his mouth and swirling his tongue around it. You practically burst into tears. You moan out, immediately threading your fingers in his white locks. âOh, fuck,â
He abuses your clit until your voice goes hoarse. He doesn't care that people could probably hear you. He wants them to. He wants them to hear his name flow from your mouth like syrup out of a maple treeâthick in lust and fatally sweet. Your moans sound even prettier in reality. Jing Yuan has come to the conclusion that you are one of a kind. No wild or active imagination could do you justice. He could eat you out for daysâyouâre just so sweet and so easy to please. Your clit getting sucked on sets you off and when he runs his thick tongue through your sloppy folds to collect your stream of arousal, you whine even louder, competing with his slurping and licking noises.
âI want you to cum on my tongue, pretty girl,â he says, pulling away from your folds. âWanna taste all of you,â and he presses a kiss to your clit. You suck your bottom lip between your teeth, nodding rapidly, âPlease! Wanna cum so badâŠâ
Heâs determined now. Like a man starved, he practically feasts on you. His tongue is everywhereâlicking and swirling from every direction and it drives you insane. You can feel the burning tension in your gut churn and to egg its release out of you, you toy with your nipples, resting your head against the lockers as ecstasy overcomes you. You whine and whimper out meek little âYes!ââs and âOh, God!ââs like those are the only words you know, feeling your orgasm so close that it heats your skin to the touch.
Your back arches and eyes blow wide, your body fighting against itself. You trap his head between your thighs but push his head away, damn near screaming at the top of your lungs that it's too much and you can't take it. This pushes Jing Yuan to do more, to tighten his hold on your thighs and suffocate himself in your pussy. Knock the tip of his nose against your puffy clit and probe your clenching hole with his tongue. His jaw hurts but he keeps it up well, humming and moaning endlessly to send warm vibrations through your skin. His name breaks off of your tongue so weakly and your head feels light. It's like something in you snaps, like all composure and decency melts off of you in an instant. You could care less about Yukong or anybody else for that matter. This entire room could cease to exist and it wouldn't matter because Jing Yuan has blasted you off to cloud nine. The feeling of his tongue swimming through your folds is pleasure in its purest form and it pushes you to the deep end, drowning you in overwhelming ecstasy.
The grip you have on his hair tightens and you pull the long locks as if itâd stabilize you from the wreckage your pending orgasm was bringing upon you. A silent moan falls from your lips, followed by an airy plea, âJ-Jing Yuan, please..!â Your voice falters and falls into another broken moan. Your back arches yet again and your hips buck into his face, and there it is. That tight band in your stomach snaps and your orgasm wracks through you roughly. Your thighs shake and your chest heaves heavilyâyou feel like you can't breathe. And he doesn't let up, wrapping his lips around your sensitive clit for the harshest suck of the night, humming happily as you squirm and spasm in his hold.
You come undone, dripping down his face like a rushing waterfall. He cleans you up with his tongue, continuing to help you come down from your high even as you whimper and sniffle from overstimulation. With peppery kisses, he pulls away from your pussy, licking his lips clean and rolling his eyes at your taste. âYou did so good for me, baby.â
A carnal glint shines in his eye as he takes your waist in his hands, pulling you into him for a kiss. Your lips connect with fervor. He immediately establishes dominance, invading your mouth with hunger and greed. Your teeth clash and knock and your tongue is bullied by his. Your taste on his mouth is strong and it's hard to ignore it, and on him, it tastes wonderful. Your legs are jelly, useless. He holds you up with his hands but ultimately decides to press you against the lockers once again, grinding his painfully aching hard-on onto your thigh. No. This can't happen. The longer you're in the locker room with him, the more risk that's run. People are going to start leaving the club soon, and you don't know what youâd do if they caught you like this.
You try to push him away but he only presses into you more, rutting against you more desperately and aggressively. You gave him an inch, and now he's going to take a mile.
He growls against your lips before pulling away, resting his forehead on yours. âGotta have you, baby,â he starts, pulling down his swim trunks. His hard cock jumps out, leaking and hard and so thick it makes your eyes bulge out of your head. You can't do this. You open your mouth to protest but he just kisses you again, shutting you down instantly. He takes your hand in his, bringing it down to his dick, and forces you to hold his girth in your hand. He's heavy and hard. Two prominent veins bulge and throb and his angry tip spills milky beads of precum into a pool in his slit. He makes you jerk him off, groaning into your mouth deeply, âFuck. Need you so bad, little one. Need your sweet little pussy wrapped around me, need to feel you, to fill youâoh, fuck. Let me? Give me that, please.â
He practically begs you. He ruts into your hand and speaks into your mouth like a bitch in heatâyouâre finding it hard to deny him. And he keeps begging. Keeps nipping at your lips and swiping your jaw now and then with his tongue. He's desperate. And you feel like you have no choice. ââŠOkay.â
Jing Yuan doesn't notice the uncertainty in your tone. He nearly jumps for joy, kissing you so passionately and hooking his hands on your ass, hoisting you up into the air. You squeal and he laughs, kissing you again as he properly positions his tip at your entrance. âBeen thinking about this since I first laid eyes on you,â
As he starts talking, he slowly slides you down on his length. You gasp and winceâheâs so fucking big. Your nails immediately dig into his shoulders and you try to brace yourself, but good God, itâs like heâs splitting your body into two. He slowly sinks in, kissing your cheeks and mumbling praises that don't do much to ease the burn of the stretch. You almost want to stop, but he's like a brick wall. Impossible to get through.
âYouâre so tightâŠâ He feels like heâs breaking you in. Like youâre untouched and not prepared to take him and it sets him off. Your whimpers are sweet and the way you hug him like you're scared to let go ignites that all-too-familiar carnal flame. He wants to ravage you. It takes a few moments but he finally bottoms out with a deep groan. âSo tightâŠso wetâŠfuck, it's like youâre made for me.â He does an experimental thrust and his heart swells at how you moan into his ear and clench around him tighter. âTaking me so well,â
This starts a rhythm of slow thrusts, the two of your bodies getting to know each other. Jing Yuan is so big and he feels even bigger inside of you. Your cunt feels like it's being reformed in its shape, stretching around him widely to accommodate every bit of him. And your pussy around him was so worth the wait. Your gummy walls welcome him with a tight, warm hug, and you leak down his length unabashedly. The combination of your arousal and his slow thrusts get you two acquainted quickly, and he steadily starts to pick up the pace.
Jing Yuan has shortly found his rhythm. He thrusts up into you while simultaneously maneuvering your hips down and youâve never felt anything like this before. He pounds you. Hard. Rough. And slowly gains speed. His heavy balls slap at your ass and your puffy clit kisses his pelvis and it all makes you weak. You bury your head into his neck and pull him closer to you, feeling enveloped in his strong hold. How he's easily able to hold you up and fuck you the way is he makes your stomach churn and knot. There's a rhythmic slapping that coordinates with his grunts and your cries and it's so loud and lewd, youâre sure the whole country club knows what you're doing. But it doesn't bother you. Because yet again, Jing Yuan works your body like an expert, plunging into your depths so well that you can't do anything but clench and drip around him like a broken faucet.
His hands are on your ass, squeezing and slapping your cheeks to make you squeal out, practically yelling his name for the masses. It all feels too good. He knows what he's doingâhow to angle his hips and find your G-spot almost instantly and abuse it until you feel like your brain has melted into mush, how to mix the pain of his calloused hands slapping your ass sweetly with the pleasure he bestows upon you, how to sweet-talk into your ear and flatter you so well that butterflies are born in your tummy and your hole clenches even tighter around him. He's experienced. He's taking your body on a trip it's sure to never forget and never replicate, and you wish you knew how he did it, because heâs only been thrusting into you for a few minutes and you feel like you're about to explode.
He's now pounding into you more furiously, and you chalk that up to his orgasm approaching him as well. âI'm gonna cum againâ!â you announce, voice low in a broken whisper. His thrusts get sloppy and he grunts to concur, âMe tooâlook at me,â
Your eyes meet and this might be the rawest moment you've ever had with Jing Yuan. There's nothing but passion and adoration in his golden eyes as he looks at you. And as he kisses you for the nth time this evening, it's soft. Kind. A complete one-eighty from how desperately and angrily he bullies his thick cock into your drooling cunt. âCum with me.â It's more of a demand than a request, but you nod in understanding anyway. You want to feel him throb and empty out his balls inside you. You want to hear his voice crack and break as he moans out your praises. You want to feel him give it to you until he can't anymore.
He snaps his hips into you, hard and one at a time. He goes as deep as possible, making your eyes blow wide and spill tears. He's so deep in your stomach it's almost like he pops the bubble of your orgasm himself, and you're spilling all over him in a matter of seconds. It was unexpected and you drawl out a whiny moan, grinding your hips back onto him subconsciously. Your orgasm makes him follow suit, and soon enough, you're filled to the brim with his semen. Warm ropes mix nastily with your own release and it drips out of your hole as he continues to thrust through your orgasms.
âOh shitâŠâs good, little one.â He kisses your cheek and carries you to the bench, laying you down. âOne more for me, âkay?â
Your mind is lagging behind. You didn't even catch his statement until he was sliding into you again, pressing your hands against your stomach to feel him inside of you. âSo deepâŠâ
âYeah? Feels good, doesn't it?â He wastes no time, not sparing a second to waste. You're still so sensitive, and so is he, and everything is so sloppy. So messy. Your eyes roll to the back of your head when he finds your sweet spot again, and fuck, it feels so good. ââM not gonna lastâŠâ
Jing Yuan basically crushes you against the hard bench, closing the proximity between you two and harboring the flame between your chests. His head in the crook of your neck shakes, âMe neither. Want you to keep it all in.â His pathetic rutting elicits the wettest sounds from your pussy, and the empty locker room echoes it around with bass. He runs on and on about stuffing you full, fucking his kids into you and you don't know what at what point that started to sound good to you. Your belly rumbled in that all-too-familiar wait, your orgasm wasted no time in building.
Your eyes start to tear even harder and white blotches soon cover your whole line of sightâbut not before Jing Yuan stills inside of you, dumping his second load inside of you with a guttural groan and clench of his abdomen. He rubs rough circles on your clit, murmuring about how you can do it until you clench around him, squirming beneath him as your orgasm hits you again. He doesn't pull out. He keeps you plugged up with his cock, forbidding his cum from leaving you. You didn't expect this to happen. Ever. But Jing Yuan? He always knew. It was just a matter of when.
So when your sight returns and you open your eyes to see him leaning over you, you smile happily. It was almost like you're Cinderella and he's Prince Charming, coming to rescue you from your hellish job in the most unconventional way possible. But unconventional feels good.
He won. No matter what he had to do, he won. His fantasy came to fruition and he would rather nothing else. This moment will be forever cherished, even if the distant opening of the door sounds off, and footsteps rapidly approaching bring you back to reality. He won. And nothing, or nobody, can change that. Youâre all his now.

THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.
The rumor however is only half of the truth, Emilienne was in fact kidnapped as a young teen during the carnival fall festival with friends and cousins, however it was completely by random and not actually because her parents survived the Bayou Ripperâs first attack â since many did survive that incounter. They were just rich kids in the wrong place at the wrong time so to speak, so they were on the front news cover when they couldnât catch him the first time. This time however, they saved Emilienne before the end of her fateful demise. However it is unknown about the Bayou Ripperâs whereabouts and if and when he will resurface.

busywoman!reader meeting toxic!rafe
warnings: nsfw-y, bunny boiler reader, no smut this reader is inspired by busy woman by sabrina carpenter :) i read a lot of books about women who are considered 'crazy' or 'unhinged' and i just love that trope sm and i really wanted to give it my own try. check out the moodboard for her!
you didn't get why people thought you were overdramatic; yeah, you sometimes had strong reactions, but come on, that happens to everyone. yes, you keyed a guy's car once or thrice, but they were little rich boys, they could afford a new coat of paint. they had it coming.
guys were cruel, no matter the age, always leading you on and then ghosting you when they got what they wanted, you just called your revenge karmic intervention. like they say, sometimes karma just needs a little push.
but still, when you found yourself fascinated by a guy, you couldn't resist the pull you felt toward them, falling for the sweet nothings they told you, telling you they were different than the rest that hurt you. then you'd end up burning every picture you got with them, along with all the clothes they left at your house, and the smell of a backyard bonfire was almost normalized in your neighborhood.
by this point, the word about you and your 'crazy antics' (eyeroll) had gotten around the island and most guys left you alone; sometimes someone who 'wanted to see if you were really how people said you were' would try to get with you, only to prove to them right when they found the words 'SMALL DICK' spray painted on the sides of their car after you found out they cheated on you, accidentally letting it slip near every girl they were interested in that you heard they weren't... clean. even a few clueless tourons got a taste because they just didn't know any better.
there were even insane rumours about you that were totally not true, about how you purposely took a guy to a place with quicksand and let him sink (where can you even find quicksand?) or that one of your neighbors saw you standing outside smoking while covered in blood (you didn't even smoke.)
really, you preferred being alone; you noticed you were calmer when you didn't have someone constantly running through your mind, your... quirks going away, and you could focus on the fashion line you were designing, your sewing machine the best company to have at night.
honestly, you should've seen it coming when rafe cameron started showing interest in you. he had a similar reputation on the island as you did, not when it came to women, but when it came to everything. people often called him 'batshit crazy' and honestly, it appealed to you.
one night you were happily sitting with your girlfriends at the country club, wearing one of the dresses you'd made yourself, sipping on a strawberry mojito, telling them about how you had an a-list actress's assistant contact you about one of the dresses you had made.
rafe saw you, leaning against the counter while pretending to listen to whatever topper was rambling about to him and kelce, his eyes trailing up and down your body, the way your tits bounced in your low-cut pale pink dress as you motioned excitedly causing him to lick his lips as he slowly took a mouthful of bourbon.
"bro, what are you looking at?" topper asked when he noticed he wasn't paying any attention, the two other boys following his eyes to you, cheerily talking to your friends. "rafe, no."
"what?" rafe grinned, looking to his friend.
"you do know who that is, right? you know her reputation?"
"she's batshit crazy, man." kelce piped up.
"god, you two are such drama queens." rafe sighed, rolling his eyes as he took another sip of bourbon, "she's smoking hot."
"dude, i heard she stole someone's car and drove it into a lake."
"and stole 10k from james."
"i heard she straight-up murdered someone."
rafe just shook his head. yeah, he'd heard some of those rumours, but honestly, you looked way too sweet for that, with your pretty bows and short skirts. he tsked, looking to his friends with a grin as he turned to them, "well, you know what they say about crazy girls."
"that they'll kill you in your sleep?" topper raised his brows. rafe simply chuckled, clapping his friend's shoulder, "that they're fucking freaks in bed." and with that, he started walking towards your little group, his ice-cold eyes set on you.
"hey." he said in his usual cheeky tone as he cocked his head to look at your sitting figure, fully ignoring the group of friends surrounding you.
you turned your head and looked up at his face, before sizing him up, cocking your head on the other side than his was, a small chuckle leaving your glossy lips that he already desperately wanted on his.
"hi."
and as you looked at each other with similar grins on your lips, rafe and you were both so blissfully unaware of the disastrous consequences one greeting could have.

The Health Club Aura.
When I was working at my local country club, I had a member tell me that I had a health club aura. She told me that every time she saw me, I always looked refreshed, my hair was always perfect, my makeup stayed on point, my nails were beautiful, and I had an aura of health and wellness around me. I wore entirely white outfits, and she told me that sheâd seen me at the end of long shifts, and I always looked like Iâd just started. I always smiled, and I was an island of relaxation in an otherwise fast paced club and course.
Hydration, skincare, losing weight, and proper nutrition played the biggest roles in getting this aura. I completely changed my diet and started drinking the cucumber, lemon-lime, and fruit infused water that was available in the club. I lessened the amount of processed food I was eating and started watching what I ate, and I was obviously walking and putting my back into the classes I would take in the health club area of my country club. I started Pilates and Barre and would take 2 classes per day, 5 days per week. Immersing myself in that world, following the lead of my friends, and spending time in that environment really improved me and helped to shape my mind.
As for looks, all of the girls who were working as Bev Cart Girls or Front Desk Girls had a rule. We could wear the colors of the club, lighter colors, or bright white. Because I would rotate between my cart and the front desk, Iâd wear white exercise sets. I thought they popped on my skin; I kept my hair long and loose; I wore white tennis shoes and visors; and I always had natural makeup and French tips. I grew up in a high-income neighborhood, and this club was known to tip well, but on my best day on my cart, I made around $2,100 in cash tips. Physical beauty wasn't huge and weight was ânegotiableâ, but fitting the part and conveying a vibe of relaxed luxury absolutely was.
My personality was absolutely what carried me. Iâm definitely extroverted; I love being social with people and getting to know my peers, and I think that having a good personality and being willing to spend time getting to know people absolutely changed things for me. As soon as I started putting an effort into getting to know people, I found that more and more people wanted to get to know me. An integral part of the job was just sitting up front, taking names, checking people in and out, and asking how their day had been before they came to see me. It wasnât just men; it was women and teenagers too. This job and the social skills I learned from it completely how I view the world now.
The most important thing that the job gave me was the health club aura I had. I learned so much from women who came from high-profile families in my city and worked alongside their daughters; I made some of the best money of my life; and I made connections and met people who elevated me to better jobs, gave me more opportunities, and played their part in my life. It's really just a jokey nickname for the way people view me; I think that it's a play on the fact that my home club had a group of young women who called themselves the Health Club Girls. Life is about putting yourself in proximity to privilege in order to level up with less difficulty, and for me, that meant working somewhere where I could watch and learn.
TL;DR: Sometimes you have to apply to jobs that will give you access to the life you want and use those jobs as stepping stones to a connections and a better life. Itâs working smart, not hard.

How Taylor Swiftâs Eras Tour Took Over the Entire World
By Chris Willman
By Alissa Gao for Variety
On the morning that Taylor Swiftâs âEras Tourâ is about to begin a three-night stand in Dublin, the older gentleman taking charge of my passport at airport customs has clearly had his fill of Swifties, probably processing them by the hundreds already today. When I reveal myself to be one too â despite being arguably the wrong gender, inarguably old and lacking a telltale âLoverâ mascara star over my right eye â his disdain is palpable. Suddenly, Iâm getting way more screening questions than anyone not on a watch list should. âWhat do you like about her?â he sneers, peering up over specs.
This is probably the wrong time for me to point out Swiftâs Irish heritage, or to assert that she is this generationâs James Joyce. (The original king of the Easter eggs, right?) I wouldnât really go that far â Iâm only on record as doing my best to certify her as this centuryâs Beatles. Trying to figure out how to answer him, the past 18 years of extolling Swift in print flash before my eyes. I end up murmuring the bare minimum: âUm, her songwriting.â This seems to disturb him further. He snaps back: âArenât they all the same songâ â a slight pause, and I know whatâs coming next â âabout her breakups?â Then, abruptly, he stamps me through, sparing me a detour to Interpol for more grilling.
In the cab into town, the driver is blasting a local talk-radio personality sharing his dismay about the fans of an awful superstar taking over his country. The host reads an email sent in from a hater who says, âA year ago, when tickets went on sale, my partner and I made a reservation to take our kids out of the country this Friday morning. ⊠Thank you for creating a safe space with your show.â I start to wonder if Swift might have met her match at the Cliffs of Moher.
But from my drop-off forward, the next three days are like living in a Swift-topia. The mile and a half to Aviva Stadium each night is like Disneyland when it shuts its doors early for an affinity group. Whether stopping in the pubs or walking through the charming neighborhood of Victorian brick homes adjoining the fancy new stadium, thereâs that warm feeling of people who are united by one quality: They are all super in touch with their feelings â or else they wouldnât be Swift fans. And they all are happy to stop on the street or over pints to talk about poetical expression. (Well, except for the occasional taciturn, invariably straight young male who has signified his supportive-plus-one status by wearing a jersey bearing the name of Swiftâs Super Bowl beau, Travis Kelce.)
So it is that I end up chatting with a middle-aged gay man in a sequin-covered shirt whose female companion whispers to me, while he steps away to trade friendship bracelets with a 10-year-old girl and her mum, that Swiftâs music just helped him through a difficult breakup. The girl then runs off to trade her homemade bracelets with a pair of high-helmeted Dublin policemen loaded up to their own elbows with friendship swag â unexpected accessories for long arms of the law.
All the stories about American Swifties swarming overseas to catch âThe Eras Tourâ turn out to be true: You couldnât swing a neon golf club around here without hitting a Yank. Approximately one out of every five fans I approach is visiting from the States â and the jubilation theyâre feeling about the nightâs impending concert is compounded by the fact that nearly all of them financed a European vacation and a concert ticket for roughly the same amount they would have paid on a secondary ticketing site for a typical four-figure ticket to one of last yearâs predatorily repriced U.S. shows.
Remember the venerable stereotype of the Ugly Americans, brusquely trampling over refined Europeans in their travels? Thanks to Taylor Swift, who has a gift for laying out global welcome mats, this is the summer of the Spangly American.
At the stadium on night one, just down the row from me are a group of millennials from New Jersey, several in glam unitards inspired by the âLoverâ or â1989â portions of the career-spanning show and looking like they were costumed by Swiftâs own designer, with fake jewel-encrusted microphones to match. I ask how many hours went into perfecting these nearly pro-grade outfits.
âAbout 80 hours for mine,â says Megan McLaughlin. âHers probably longer,â she adds, nodding toward one of her sisters, Margo Steinberg. âShe knows all the glues and the best gems.â Indeed, confirms Steinberg, âI was working on mine since January. And, yes, I did quit my job to finish it!â She adds, when I ask if she cares to share any secrets to a particularly good look, âYou have to use the B-7000 glue.â (A third sister, Amelia McLaughlin, admits she resorted to buying her spangly dress off Etsy â âI was doing a PhD, but I had to match these girlsâ enthusiasmâ â while a fourth, Carolyn McLaughlin, skipped the glitter and went for a red dress that matches Swiftâs from the âI Bet You Think About Meâ video.)
Certainly, there is an element of cosplay to many of the fansâ outfits. Some have seen footage of the new segment Swift added to the tour beginning in April 2024 â devoted to her most recent album, the 31-song âTortured Poets Departmentâ â and have managed to manufacture gowns that look like theyâre made of paper and feature lyric excerpts printed on them in script, Ă la Swiftâs custom-made Vivienne Westwood dress. I meet a group of American women who became friends as literature majors in college who have âTortured Poetsâ-themed outfits, one duplicating the Westwood dress and the other with handmade printouts of the latest albumâs lyrics pinned all over her black dress, as if she were literally pulling pages out of Swiftâs playbook.
Itâs the devotion to lyrics, even more than glitter, that is most impressive about the bespoke outfits fans have concocted for the occasion. There are scores and scores of Swifties wearing homemade T-shirts â sometimes singular, sometimes matching with a friend, like walking Burma-Shave signs. Some of the messages are obvious, like the dozens of laddies wearing âItâs me, hi, Iâm the husband/boyfriend/father, itâs meâ shirts. (Bet that seemed really original at one time.) But a lot of them refer to more obscure songs or stanzas, as if every nearby street or stadium loge section is full of human Easter eggs, begging to be unpacked. Itâs hard to think of any other superstar in the history of stadium tours who could have inspired as much fan-crafted clothing rooted in the power of words.
Combos of middle-aged mothers and their teen or 20-something daughters abound; some of them have seized on Swiftâs mentions of her own mother, Andrea, to come up with their T-shirt ideas. On Lansdowne Road, I talk to a mum whose red-on-black shirt says, âHad to listen to all this drama,â accompanied by a daughter bearing the legend, âAnd hereâs to my mama.â (This is a reference to Swiftâs song âThis Is Why We Canât Have Nice Things.â)
Later, in a stadium Guinness line, I chat up a pair of thirsty locals, the daughterâs shirt reading âI call my mom, she said âŠ,â with the momâs shirt completing the thought: âIt was for the best.â (Damn it, I had to Google to recall thatâs from a â1989â Vault track that came out last year.) I ask the daughter if she had to explain to her mom what she was wearing. âSheâs 52,â she replies. âI donât think she knows.â
Age is really no guarantor of not getting it â the popular #SwiftieOver50 hashtag on X proves that. Although outnumbered, plenty of older people are unaccompanied by a minor, or by anyone who has been a minor in the past 20 years. I approach a middle-aged couple, Jean Sebastian Conley and Natasha Gagne, again bidden by their matching shirts â âWhoâs Taylor Swift?â and âWhoâs Travis Kelce?â They turn out to be French Canadians who found their 206-euro SRO tickets to be a steal compared with the extravagant resale prices they briefly considered back home after being shut out of the initial on-sale. I ask what attracted them to Swift since, unlike so many others here, they didnât grow up with her.
âI really fell in love with her with the âFolkloreâ album,â Conley says, referring to her low-key Grammy-winning album recorded during the early months of the pandemic. âI think different audiences and older audiences found her through that and âEvermoreâ because they were more singer-songwriter, a little bit rougher indie music, and thatâs what we like most. So thatâs how I got hooked.â For her part, Gagne says, âI like everything she represents. And when she redid all her masters, thatâs where I thought she was a lady boss.â
Itâs a reminder that, for however many mini-narratives Swift packs into the three hours and 20 minutes of an âErasâ show, there are really four or five years of backstory that feed into the audienceâs shared awareness. When she sings the ominous ballad âMy Tears Ricochet,â accompanied by a coven of stone-faced dancers, at least some fans will understand it as a distant reflection of her very public feelings about the men she considers her business bĂȘtes noires, Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, who bought and sold (respectively) the rights to her first six albums, spawning much vitriol as well as four âTaylorâs Versionâ rerecorded albums to date.
When the dancers put their grins back on, Swift plays an ebullient excerpt of a very recent âPoetsâ bonus track, âSo High School,â which every person in the crowd will know is inspired by Kelce. There are some breakup songs of recent vintage too â yes, Mr. Customs Man! â like âThe Smallest Man in the World,â which may or may not have cost Matty Healy, the 1975 frontman and former Swift paramour, a night of sleep.
The whole tour is themed around not just the newer records but the rerecordings that have made every older album in her catalog feel improbably fresh. It was, quite possibly, the single most baller move in the history of the record industry ⊠and led to the career-retrospective concept for what is already unquestionably the biggest tour in the history of popular music.
Any discussion of the charms of fandom isnât meant to forestall discussion of âThe Eras Tourâ as big business. The numbers are fuzzy because Swiftâs camp does not release grosses from her shows, unlike nearly every other artist at the stadium or arena level. Even when the tour wraps after 20 months on Dec. 8 in Vancouver, it seems likely those numbers will continue to be guarded with a zeal on par with the government of North Koreaâs. Many industry experts believe the gross will approach or even surpass $2 billion.
What is known for certain â even without a confirmation from Swift World â is that she broke the all-time tour-gross figure when she hit the $1 billion mark, whenever exactly that might have been. The two trade publications that specialize in the touring industry have slightly differing estimates: Billboard calculated a cumulative gross of approximately $900 million when she took a break at the end of 2023, figuring that she would crack $1 billion shortly into the tourâs resumption in April, while Pollstar estimated that she had passed $1 billion by the conclusion of last year. Any way you guesstimate it, Swift took less than a year to break the previous record of $939.1 million, which Elton John grossed with his âFarewell Yellow Brick Roadâ tour across nearly three years of shows.
One source close to the production said early in the âEras Tourâ era that her average gross each night is $14 million. Others believe that is a highly conservative estimate, with a possible total that on at least some nights edges closer to $17 million. One remarkable aspect is that this does not include the revenue from any inflated resale tickets â which, as anyone who has tried to get tickets through Vivid Seats or StubHub knows, mostly have gone for several times their face value. It was little publicized, but Swift had âdynamic pricingâ turned off for her ticket sales, possibly to avoid the controversies Bruce Springsteen encountered when the face value on some of his tickets leaped to the four-figure range upon their first sale. Swift left money on the table by not participating in the scalping of her own tickets, which had an average price of around $230 and topped out at $499, excepting VIP packages, which zenithed at $899 â all well short of what some other superstars ask nowadays. Of course, neither Argentina nor anyone at Wembley Stadium ahead of Swiftâs opening night performance in June will be crying for her when sheâs in reach of $2 billion without the resale inflation ⊠not to mention the hundreds of millions of dollars in merch.
(This is extraordinary also because Swift hasnât done any press to promote the tour, except for when she was selected as Time Magazineâs Person of the Year in December. But she doesnât need to â the tour is constantly being celebrated on social media with every outfit change. And itâs also become so huge, itâs featured more A-list sightings than the Oscars, from Julia Roberts to Tom Cruise to Stevie Nicks, who had the surprise song âYouâre on Your Own, Kidâ dedicated to her in Dublin.)
Benson Boone, whose âBeautiful Thingsâ is the most-streamed song of 2024 in the U.S. and the world, says he felt dwarfed when performing as the opening act at one of Swiftâs seven shows at Londonâs Wembley Stadium. He has forever committed to memory the exact attendance figure he was given for the night: â89,497,â he says. âJust her stage alone is bigger than anything Iâve ever seen â 300 feet of it!â he says. âI took in every moment. It was cool for me to experience another artistâs world and learn from it. I want to work that hard and be the captain of my ship.â
Although itâs maddening to a media that likes official box office reports and canât get them, itâs easy to see the wisdom in not flaunting those figures if youâre a superstar artist who counts on being seen as relatable. Swift certainly is proud of breaking records â she posted a tweet when âThe Tortured Poets Departmentâ spent its first 12 weeks at No. 1 on the album chart, one of only three albums in history to do so. But sheâd rather count fan impressions than dollars. By the same token, she doesnât publicize or confirm acts of generosity that leak out, like the sizable food-bank donations she makes in every city she tours, or the $100,000 bonuses that the tourâs 50 truck drivers reportedly got for Christmas.
An addendum to all this is how the âEras Tourâ film â released last fall, less than halfway through the actual tour â grossed just over $180 million domestically and $261 million globally, beating the records set by Justin Bieberâs concert film in the U.S. and Michael Jacksonâs globally. Massive big-screen spoilers only heightened, rather than diminished, resale demand for the shows yet to come on the 152-date tour and helped precipitate the movement among Americans to head overseas, to make up for the supply found sorely lacking at home.
âShe is the torchbearer for the live industry,â says Andy Gensler, editor of Pollstar. âItâs nothing weâve ever seen before, and itâll be a long time before we see it again. Her timing was exquisite: The pandemic created this yearning and hunger for live entertainment like nothing else in our history, so she couldnât have picked a better time to go out.â Pollstar called last year a âhistoric golden ageâ for touring, as the top 100 global tours collectively surpassed $9 billion â up 46% from 2022 â with Swift obviously contributing a significant chunk of that total. (This year, the trade reports that overall tour attendance is down, with flat grosses, representing a slight reckoning for the live industry that, obviously, isnât impacting âEras.â)
âWhat my partners and I talk a lot about is how itâs one thing to have a big tour in North America. Itâs another thing to have an equally big tour wherever you are in the world and to do doubles and triples in these markets,â says Bernie Cahill, an Activist founding partner and manager of acts including the Grateful Dead and the Lumineers. âItâs an anomaly. Itâs not normal. And donât forget, youâre going into what I call asymmetric venues, which are venues that are not really built for music; these are venues that are built for football games or soccer games and can be very challenging to do music. And they get it right every time â Louis Messina [Swiftâs tour promoter since her earliest days] and his team are world-class.â But for all that globe-trotting, he notes, âthere are some artists that you see do a show and you know they donât even know what city theyâre in. I always feel like Taylor knows exactly where she is. She has a relationship with that city or that market and those fans and sheâs connected to them in ways that are very authentic, that you canât fake.â
The one big snafu in the rollout of âThe Eras Tourâ occurred in November 2022 when the Ticketmaster system melted down after too many North American dates went on sale at once, causing thousands of fans to experience long delays. The on-sale broke the all-time record for tickets sold in a single day at 2 million, but it also nearly broke the worldâs largest ticketing platform. Swift herself was Teflon in this situation, as the blame fell on a ticketing system not capable of handling so much of the Swift-loving world at once. And although most of the problems people have with Ticketmaster are different from what fans faced in the âEras Tourâ debacle â mainly, hidden fees and monopolistic practices â it could have big legislative consequences anyway. Dean Budnick, co-author of âTicket Masters: The Rise of the Concert Industry and How the Public Got Scalped,â believes that the Swift hullabaloo was the main catalyst for Congress enacting reform. âThereâs no question that perhaps thereâs gonna be some meaningful change in ticketing as a result of what people experienced with that on-sale.â
That sense Cahill spoke about of the singer making it clear to an audience she knows exactly where sheâs at is in full force in Dublin. Swift introduces the âFolkloreâ/âEvermoreâ segment by suggesting that she had a spiritual locale in mind when she started writing that more intimate material, locked in during the first part of the pandemic. âIt keeps me up at night all year long: Which era is the most Irish?â she half-jokes to the crowd. âIâm gonna make a case for it being âFolkloreâ ⊠This albumâs imaginary world had a whole aesthetic â like I lived in this cabin in a really green, nature-y, moss-covered landscape. You see where Iâm going?⊠Another thing that I think makes it more Irish than the other eras is, âFolkloreâ was all about storytelling. And I know you hear this a lot, but you guys are naturally gifted storytellers, right?â
Later on, Swift will cement the local connection by playing, as a âsecretâ surprise acoustic song, âSweet Nothing.â She doesnât have to give the crowd any explanation for that: From the first notes, Irish Swifties will immediately recall that the lyrics reference to the coastal town of Wicklow. The real cherry on top of the show for locals at any international Eras Tour stop, though, comes with a customized moment each night during âWe Are Never Getting Back Togetherâ when the spotlight is put on backing dancer Kameron Saunders for a couple of seconds, as he blurts out something locally appropriate, and cheeky. One night in Dublin, itâs the Irish catchphrase âthe neck of ye!â; on another, he yells out âpog mo thoin,â meaning âkiss my ass!â; the massive, knowing laugh that inside joke gets makes it clear this isnât entirely an audience of American tourists after all.
But the basic theatrics and emotional currents remain consistent from show to show. If Swift is surprisingly reticent to make her âEras Tourâ numbers public, that may be, in part, her desire to keep the focus primarily on a personal fan connection. Music industry veterans are taken aback by Swiftâs ability to be giant and intimate onstage. âSheâs a master marketer of herself â and she is not afraid to be vulnerable to her fans,â says Michele Bernstein, who runs a consultancy that works with stars like Drake. Bernstein could almost be quoting the lyrics of âMastermind,â where Swift describes herself in almost comically omniscient terms, then dives into a bridge about how no one would play with her as a little girl.
People like my guardian of the customs gate may complain about Swiftâs songs centering on her romantic splits, but that subject matter magnifies her own insecurities and weaknesses, expressed in genuinely eccentric wordplay, in ways that keep the audience in thrall to someone they perceive as a humble underdog as well as a veritable cage fighter. She could do a $10 billion tour someday and still keep the crowd enraptured by how she measures up to, or rallies to exceed, the smallest man â or men, or Kardashians â in the world.
This plays out in the âErasâ show in all sorts of symbolic ways, like the new segment in the âTortured Poetsâ section where she seems to have fainted from the vapors of failed romance. Dancers in tuxedos try to revive her while a swing version of âI Can Do It With a Broken Heartâ plays over the PA. A pair of women dressed as nurses fit her with what looks like a majoretteâs uniform â or, with all its off-white stripes, is it really meant to resemble a straitjacket? The resemblance is probably not coincidental. Swift fans know thereâs nothing like a mad woman.
The most exhilarating moment that has been added to the show this year has her gliding down the ramp on a platform, appearing to anyone at floor level like she is levitating like the witch she makes herself out to be in âWhoâs Afraid of Little Old Me?â Taylor Swift: She was Agatha all along!
Yes, there is much to unpack. But in Dublin and in every other city where âErasâ has alighted, there is also pure inspiration for those who maybe havenât always felt like theyâve had a voice, whether itâs her LGBTQ+ fan base or, well, women. Itâs a modern transmutation of Beatlemania in which Swift manages to be all four Fabs, and a mirror, as well as object, of that gaze. You donât have to be a woman to experience the explosion of pure female joy that takes place on a mass scale at an âErasâ gig, but for men, it doesnât hurt to have a healthy sense of where you might sit on the female spectrum.
Outside Aviva Stadium, two young Londoners have formed their own two-woman straight-gay alliance: One is wearing a shirt with the hand- drawn words âYouâre obsessive and crazy,â and the otherâs shirt has the phrase âYouâre gay,â each with an arrow pointing to the other. This echoes the original lyrics to Swiftâs 2006 oldie âPicture to Burn,â which was rerecorded after some were offended by âgayâ as a possible teen epithet. âI am obsessive and crazy, and she is gay,â laughs Zoe Gibson, pointing to her friend, India Day. âWe want to bring back the original lyrics. We never found them homophobic â we want to reclaim it.â Day adds, âWeâve listened to her since we were 4 years old, so obviously thereâs the nostalgia factor. But for me, she speaks on quite a lot of issues like gay rights and feminism, and all of her songs perfectly sum up the experience of being a woman.â
Some of the shirts are apropos for Pride Month. Seeing a boy of no older than 15 or 16 wearing a homemade âBut Daddy I Love Himâ shirt (the title of a âTortured Poetsâ fan favorite), itâs easy to imagine some courage was required to don that apparel. Along the same lines, I spot any number of women making their own statement in shirts with the modified exclamation âBut Daddy I Love Her.â
Gay or straight, 6 years old or 60-something, female or just female-allied, the crowd inside gets its sway on early in the show, with the arrival of the gentle, waltz-time âLover.â Itâs not one of the big set-pieces of this nonstop Broadway-style production â the spotlight is just on Swift and her acoustic guitar â but it might be the one where the entire audience feels like itâs at a four-minute campfire. No wicked witchiness here, just winsomeness.
Down on the floor, Iâm seeing what amounts to a Taylor Swift mosh pit: gangs of two or three or five young women, ignoring the fact that Swift herself is just yards away from them on the ramp. Theyâre singing and acting out every last line to each other, as if the superstar isnât even towering right over them. A waste of their euros? Hardly. Swift will capture their full attention again as the show proceeds, but in the moment, she isnât just a superstar â she might be the worldâs greatest community organizer.

Hi! I'm probably not intersex, and recently I've been trying to educate myself as much as possible on the intersex experience, entirely through reading posts from intersex people here on Tumblr.
I was wondering if there was any chance I could get some guidance on how I can best be supportive of intersex people both online and out in the wild! I try a lot to reblog everything I see on here and in general just treat everyone the same way, no matter if they're intersex or not, but I can't help but be worried I'll say something wrong out of being still on my journey to being educated.
So I thought I'd come here and just... ask?
What can I do to be the best ally I can?
In the same vein, do you happen to have any suggestions on sources I could use to educate myself further?
Thanks in advance!
Hi anon! Thanks for wanting to be a better ally.
I would recommend checking out the sources shared in this post.
I'd also specifically highlight that I think it's really important for allies to learn about intersex justice. Intersex justice is a specific movement and framework created by intersex people of color from the Intersex Justice Project that looks at intersex justice as a part of collective liberation, understands the important of cross-movement organizing, and recognizes the way that systems of power based on white supremacy and colonialism shape and enable intersex oppression. The seven principles of intersex justice are:
Informed consent
Reparations
Legal protections
Accountability
Language
Children's rights
Patient-centered healthcare
These are really important values to center your intersex allyship around.
I'll also share some miscellaneous tips for things to think about in your intersex allyship:
Listen to intersex people about our experiences, not doctors! The medical system plays a huge role in our oppression, and is not the expert on our experiences.
You're going to have to unlearn a lot more biases and myths than you might think you have to. Intersexism/compulsory dyadism shows up in a lot of small ways, like the fact there's only M and F boxes in forms, jokes about micropenises, beauty standards about body hair, and more. Keep an eye out for all these ways our society props up the sex binary, even though it's a myth.
Avoid DSD terminology, referring to "male" and "female" bodies, calling intersex a "third sex" and never use the h slur. Other terminology that isn't always bad, but often gets misused that can be good to keep an eye out for: AFAB/AMAB, biological sex (when people say that gender is socially constructed but sex is biological).
Research if there are intersex organizations in your country and join their email list! That's a great way to stay informed about if there's any current initiatives, protests, legislative proposals, or other forms of activism you can get involved in.
Speak up when you see intersexism in every space you're in, whether that's people advocating for normalizing surgery, using the h-slur, or otherwise talking in ways that dehumanize or isolate intersex people.
Figure out a way to bring intersex awareness to the spaces that you're in! Whether this is putting up posters for Intersex Awareness day in October in your neighborhood, work, and community spaces, hosting an event at an organization or club about intersex topics, watching an intersex film with your friends, even something like making intersex pride stuff for the Sims if that's a hobby of yours--those are all great ways to introduce more people to intersex topics.
Listen to the intersex people in your life about how to support them! A lot of intersex people have a lot of very different experiences, needs, and wants. We don't have universal experiences and there are many different opinions on things in the intersex community. A lot of us are also multiply marginalized and our intersex identities are shaped by that.
If other intersex followers have tips, please feel free to add on!

"How will people get healthcare?
(...)
During the Spanish Civil War, Barcelonaâs Medical Syndicate, organized largely by anarchists, managed 18 hospitals (6 of which it had created), 17 sanatoria, 22 clinics, 6 psychiatric establishments, 3 nurseries, and one maternity hospital. Outpatient departments were set up in all the principal localities in Catalunya. Upon receiving a request, the Syndicate sent doctors to places in need. The doctor would have to give good reason for refusing the post, âfor it was considered that medicine was at the service of the community, and not the other way round.â[40] Funds for outpatient clinics came from contributions from local municipalities. The anarchist Health Workersâ Union included 8,000 health workers, 1,020 of them doctors, and also 3,206 nurses, 133 dentists, 330 midwives, and 153 herbalists. The Union operated 36 health centers distributed throughout Catalunya to provide healthcare to everyone in the entire region. There was a central syndicate in each of nine zones, and in Barcelona a Control Committee composed of one delegate from each section met once a week to deal with common problems and implement a common plan. Every department was autonomous in its own sphere, but not isolated, as they supported one another. Beyond Catalunya, healthcare was provided for free in agrarian collectives throughout Aragon and the Levant.
Even in the nascent anarchist movement in the US today, anarchists are taking steps to learn about and provide healthcare. In some communities anarchists are learning alternative medicine and providing it for their communities. And at major protests, given the likelihood of police violence, anarchists organize networks of volunteer medics who set up first aid stations and organize roving medics to provide first aid for thousands of demonstrators. These medics, often self-trained, treat injuries from pepper spray, tear gas, clubs, tasers, rubber bullets, police horses, and more, as well as shock and trauma. The Boston Area Liberation Medic Squad (BALM Squad) is an example of a medic group that organizes on a permanent basis. Formed in 2001, they travel to major protests in other cities as well, and hold trainings for emergency first aid. They run a website, share information, and link to other initiatives, such as the Common Ground clinic described below. They are non-hierarchical and use consensus decision-making, as does the Bay Area Radical Health Collective, a similar group on the West Coast.
Between protests, a number of radical feminist groups throughout the US and Canada have formed Womenâs Health Collectives, to address the needs of women. Some of these collectives teach female anatomy in empowering, positive ways, showing women how to give themselves gynecological exams, how to experience menstruation comfortably, and how to practice safe methods of birth control. The patriarchal Western medical establishment is generally ignorant of womenâs health to the point of being degrading and harmful. An anti-establishment, do-it-yourself approach allows marginalized people to subvert a neglectful system by organizing to meet their own needs.
After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, activist street medics joined a former Black Panther in setting up the Common Ground clinic in one of the neediest neighborhoods. They were soon assisted by hundreds of anarchists and other volunteers from across the country, mostly without experience. Funded by donations and run by volunteers, the Common Ground clinic provided treatment to tens of thousands of people.
The failure of the governmentâs âEmergency Managementâ experts during the crisis is widely recognized. But Common Ground was so well organized it also out-performed the Red Cross, despite the latter having a great deal more experience and resources.[41] In the process, they popularized the concept of mutual aid and made plain the failure of the government. At the time of this writing Common Ground has 40 full-time organizers and is pursuing health in a much broader sense, also making community gardens and fighting for housing rights so that those evicted by the storm will not be prevented from coming home by the gentrification plans of the government. They have helped gut and rebuild many houses in the poorest neighborhoods, which authorities wanted to bulldoze in order to win more living space for rich white people."
