Nurse Rozetta 3.0 done. Well..the costume just needs to be bloody/dirtied up but other than that. 🥳 First pic was from Brisbane zombie walk back in 2015 when I had no clue wtf I was doing and I took inspiration from @alicecooper 's character nurse rozetta but due to my lack of skills and also confidence, I didn't know how to get the exact nurse rozetta look. Than came 2.0 in 2018. My confidence and skills had greatly improved but it still wasn't what Calico Cooper (@calicocooper ) or Sheryl Cooper ( @tutufoodot ) wore on-stage. Though I still took inspiration from those two woman with their hair and makeup. And finally today. A while ago I ordered a nurse costume and a wig. Boom..did a trial and error for 3.0. I like it. But I definitely need to look at how Calico & Sheryl Cooper do their makeup and practice their ways. Cause i definitely need a new-ish makeup look instead of using the same makeup look that i know how to do easily. Plus those two ladies change up their makeup almost every time they don nurse rozetta for stage. Happy anniversary to me! Today is exactly 10 years since the first time I’ve brought a cosplay to a con! I feel kinda ashamed to show my very first cosplay.. (I don’t really like my first cosplays I’ve made and don’t share them really much) I feel so ugly and fat in there.. But that’s a proof that everyone can improve! There were some nice details in accessories already but it was a long road before I made a cosplay I was really satisfied with.. Cosplay was also a reason to be better and lose weight. The learning curve for face paint and figuring out what colors look good on you and how to make certain brands work for your face is real man. . And having siblings that I paint for cosplay means I get to see how crazy everyone’s skin is so different. Skin color and tone and skin type and what paint works for me is weird on my brothers skin but what works for Mariko doesn’t want to stick to my face at all? It’s crazy! . In 2 years I’ve learned a lot and I still feel like I know nothing. I’m making it up as I go and trying different brands and paints and techniques to try and find anything that works. But I’ve come so far and honestly this is the first time we’ve been happy with the ahsoka makeup. It’s finally the bright color we wanted it to be to match the armsocks and my contouring is finally pulling its weight to make my painting jobs look like faces instead of flat skin blobs lol. . I used Cameleon neon orange for the ahsoka paint this time around . Just barely in to 2020 and I’m already changing up what I wanna do. I would like to do some more casual stuff so I can really put in the time and effort needed for my big stuff. I’m typically a quality over quantity type of person but would like to have more cosplays available to me. I’m also debating on what Monster Hunter armor I want to do, so I’ll let y’all know when I’m 100% certain. Odogaron is my favorite still but I very much want to do something that isn’t done at all or not very often. But once again these are ones either in progress, need improvements, or will be started in 2020! I saw those #cosplayimprovement posts going around and well there's no better way to join a bandwagon than publicly exposing my dark past! The picture on the left was the first time I ever cosplayed Switzerland, at Otakon 2010. The wig was Party City Atrocious because the one I had ordered online didn't arrive in time for the con, yikes. I didn't really know how to use bias tape, the shoulder boards were hot-glued on, the boots were some plaid wellies I spray-painted black... I was a Grade-A Hot Mess™ back then! Flash forward to the picture on the right... 💕 I know basic makeup! I can style a high-ponytail! I can tell the difference between fabrics and know which ones are historically accurate! I can s u f f e r over pleats! Woohoo!!! We all start somewhere. Practice really does make a difference. Try, fail, try again. Cosplay is a hobby of love, and I love how far I've come in the last eight years. It's amazing what 6 years of improvement and one surgery can do. I've been cosplaying France for 6 years...6 years...that's so long...Though I guess it's hard to call my first attempt 'France' because it looks nothing like him. It's not even the right length or style of wig.

Stole this from @catnipcosplays I wanted to see how I've grown, but apparently I still make the same cheesy faces 😂 Just my camera and my angles are better now lol No but I really am proud of how far we've come, the first pictures are from animeUSA back in 2012 😳 And although even then we were semi crafty (we painted the aqua pants and bandana and crocheted pokeballs and the squirtle) we never expected to get to the level we are now! Crocheting major parts of our cosplays and being really proud of the things we make.
