Cosmere femslash febuary is over, but I still have some things from it to post. Marasi being impressed by MeLaan's storage power and Khriss and Jasnah giving themselves an earned rest from a ll that heavy researching. 💕

Day 4: Doomed by the narrative
Rated Teen, Veil & Tyn, RoW spoilers
“Where am I?” Veil asked. One minute, she'd been asking Shallan if she had done well, and the next, she'd found herself fading…and now, she was at a darkeyes tavern?
She stepped forward tentatively, looking around. The other people seemed…indistinct, except for one person sitting at the bar who looked deeply familiar, despite the fact that Veil had never met her.
They could never have met, because it was the woman whose manner, fashion, and history Veil had stolen whole cloth.
The woman glanced down and to the side, tilting her ear towards Veil as if she could hear Veil’s thoughts.
“You gonna come join me, Veil?” Tyn asked. “Always room for one more in the Tranquilline Halls.”
“You’re not even Vorin,” Veil chuckled as she sat beside her, her confusion drowned in the sheer excitement of meeting the mentor she’d never actually met. “Am I dead?” she asked, as Tyn gestured to the barkeep for a round of Horneater White. “How do you know me?”
Tyn offered a cheers. “First, to the woman who finally killed me,” she said with an easy smile. She didn’t seem to have taken it too badly.
“To Shallan Davar.” They clinked glasses, and Veil drank her small cup in one go. It didn’t even burn going down. It just warmed her belly, leaving her feeling as indistinct as the rest of the tavern looked. She shook her head, as if to shake off the fuzziness.
“What a woman. I had no idea what I was getting into when I met her.” Tyn smiled again, looking Veil up and down. “She really liked the outfit, huh?”
“She liked a lot about you,” Veil said, and spun her empty glass on the bartop at what looked like an impossible angle. The trick was simply to do it confidently. “Because of you, I could do what she felt she couldn’t do. I had the skills she didn’t have, or didn’t want to have. Because of you, I was free in a way she thought she couldn’t be.”
Tyn narrowed her eyes. “She even took my advice about blending in as a darkeyes. I like that. You know, I’ve been watching ever since she ran me through with that storming Blade.”
The idea that she’d been watching them brought up some acutely embarrassing memories, and Veil winced. “Even in Kholinar?”
Tyn laughed, loudly and freely. “Yeah. You two were a piece of work out there. Nah, I'm remembering that cursed place with the beads.”
“Shadesmar?”
“Yeah. And your time at the tower city. You earned that hat and coat, girl, the way you can flip those cards. The way you can talk yourself out of trouble. You earned your reputation. You were based on me, Veil, but you grew out of me. You did things I was never capable of. Putting someone else first. Loving someone. Protecting them. After a while, I realized I was rooting for you. I want you to know that. You were…” She wiped her eye. “Storms, you’re the closest thing I ever had to a daughter. I…”
“You don’t have to say it.” Veil’s breath caught between embarrassment and longing.
“No, don’t you see?” Tyn said. “That’s why I’m still here, hanging on. I have to say it. I was a conwoman all my life. This is my last chance to say something honest in this Heralds-forsaken life.”
Tyn reached out, taking Veil’s freehand in her uncovered safehand. She had stayed behind for her. For Veil. The touch was intimate in a way Veil had never known, and it moved her deeply.
“You did good, kid.” She squeezed Veil’s hand, and Veil squeezed back, treasuring the warmth of it. She reimagined those same worst moments knowing that Tyn, her never-mentor, had been cheering her on. Her throat swelled with emotion, and she could feel her eyes watering.
She looked up to find Tyn’s eyes were also sparkling with barely-suppressed emotion. They both quickly looked away, wiping their eyes in a symmetrical series of motions.
Veil ordered the next round, and lifted her cup. “To learning from the best.”
“If I’d been the best I wouldn’t have gotten stabbed by a seventeen-year-old,” Tyn laughed.
Veil grinned. “Fine. To the woman I tried to become.”
The older woman lifted her cup. “And to the woman you actually became.”
They clinked their cups, then drank. Veil felt this one hit harder. She started to feel a bit dizzy, disoriented. The tavern around them started to swirl and fade. “I am dead, aren’t I?” she said, half in awe. The air seemed to sparkle with an electric energy.
“No, just me. It’s my time now,” Tyn said. She had stood, and she leaned back against the bar casually, looking upwards as the scene faded into a soft, warm light. “Go back to Shallan, kid. Things’ll be different, sure, but that’s life, and you’ve got a lot more living to do.”
The light brightened until Veil couldn’t see Tyn anymore. “Goodbye,” she whispered, as finally, she felt herself floating in the back of Shallan’s mind again. She stepped forward, feeling her former consciousness fade and change into a bright new awareness.
She had done well.
"Yes," Shallan whispered. "Thank you. Thank you so much."

What Your Preferred Femslash Cosmere Ships Say About You
Happy Femslash February! I've done these "what your preferred ships" say lists before, if you'd like to check out the old ones: [Kaladin ships, Navani ships, Jasnah ships; also Moash ships by @cosmereplay]
But for now, let's judge you (yes, you!) based on your favorite femslash ships.
Vin x Shallan You are bold, inventive, daring. You don't play by the rules--not of canon, not of time, not of space. You don't let anything stop you, and you are all the happier for it. Good for you, tbh!
Navani x Ialai You may have complained in the tags that I left this ship out of my previous Navani ships post and you know what, you were right. Let these two old ladies fuck!
Marasi x Moonlight You may write fanfic where Marasi joins the Ghostbloods after all, or maybe you have Moonlight leave them to be with Marasi. Either way, you saw the sparks between them and you're running with it.
Ranette x Jaxy It's not like you can let the only (?) canon lesbian ship not get love! Not when it's gun lesbians!
Sarene x Eshen You look at an early, barely-any-women work of Sanderson and you think, "You know what would fix this? Gay sex."
Shallan x Veil It's about the longing. It's about the inability to physically exist in the same space together. It's about the self-acceptance.
Cord x Rysn You've either read Dawnshard or you've seen literally any art of these two.
Raboniel x Navani You don't need your femslash ships to be "sweet" or "loving" or "healthy." You see some twisted devotion and erotic violence and say "Sign me the HELL up."
Transfem Kaladin x Leshwi You have a brilliant and beautiful mind.
Yumi x Shallan I don't know that the shippers for this exist...but now that I've said it, you're thinking about it, right? They're gonna sit on a bench and talk about the beautiful women they see. They're gonna talk art. They're gonna be bi4bi. You see it now. You're welcome.

Day 9: In the shadows
Rated General, Evi/Sja-anat, Oathbringer spoilers
“He won’t answer my letters or spanreeds!” Evi grumbled to herself in a huff as she entered her bedroom. She was walking easily again, a scant few weeks after the baby’s birth, her second. “I will not have a nameless child!”
Sja-anat slid upwards, looking through a tall mirror inlaid on a stand, placed in the room facing Evi’s bed. She may have missed her husband while he was away, but she was no longer lonely, for Sja-anat kept her company, taking her secrets. These days, though, she kept more than she passed on to Odium.
The sun-haired woman, her only worshipper, sat on the edge of the bed facing Sja-anat. She had the infant tucked into a wrap dress, nestled close to her chest. She looked down, pulling open the top of the wrap to peek at her nameless child.
The baby awakened. He twisted, then let out a soft cry. He was still so very new to the world, and the present-ness of it caused Sja-anat to pause. Even now, he grows. He will never be this little again. She considered the nature of the passage of time as Evi removed her wrap, then tried unsuccessfully to feed him.
“He won’t latch. Why is this so much harder this time?” Evi cried out eventually, on the verge of tears. “I can’t even feed him. Those whitespines will take him away and give him to a nursemaid. He doesn’t need a nursemaid. He needs me. Why can’t I do this?”
Sja-anat watched and waited, knowing that sometimes Evi spoke her thoughts out loud, and could be startled if Sja-anat answered her. As she had already learned, it was possible to scare the human’s milk away. She floated between worlds, waiting for the perfect moment to speak, a time that would bring comfort rather than fear. She was certain it would arrive, just as certain as she had been that the child would arrive safely.
Evi rocked and kissed the infant, but he continued to mewl. She looked up, then, as if only just now noticing Sja-anat.
“I need to calm down,” she said. “I need a distraction. Spirit, please help me.”
There it was. The perfect moment.
“Name him,” Sja-anat said. “Name him tonight. His father has not answered for long enough.”
“You are right, of course, dear Spirit,” Evi sighed, and looked down at the baby. “The Alethi like to choose names that speak to the child’s identity. We should choose a name close to his father’s, so Dalinar won’t forget it.” She laughed, but it was sad laugh. The mirth couldn’t lift the heaviness of that truth. The Blackthorn had barely been aware of her pregnancy.
“The baby is of you,” Sja-anat countered, an anxiety urging her on. “He was made from your essence. He should be named for you.”
“He will know he is of me.” Evi cuddled him in close. “I’ll always be there for him, but his father won’t be. His name should be a reminder that he is of Dalinar.”
The words brought pain, but of course, Sja-anat kept her own knowledge close. She had her own favourite name. Re-lin, meaning ‘born unto darkness’, for the futures she saw for the boy were grim.
And yet, together, they might create something wonderful. They could be family.
“You wish his name to be ‘Son of Blackthorn’?” Sja-anat asked.
“Yes, well, not quite so directly,” Evi said, and her lips turned to a thoughtful smile. “Dallin,” she said. “Dal-lin. Born unto Dalinar.”
“I do not like it.”
Evi chuckled. “Well it must be a name you approve of, dear Spirit. How about Narin? Nar-in, born unto Dalinar.”
Sja-anat considered. “If you insist on naming him after the Blackthorn, add a part for you. His older brother is named only for the Alethi. Let this child hear some of your language.”
“We Rirans give our children their own names, as a new perspective for The One,” Evi said, then sat and thought, absently patting the baby, who had settled again. “Though there are favourites. If he were to have a Riran name, I might give him a more popular name, so he could hear himself as a part of Rira. Yah, for Yaysi? Yadallin? Hm, it sounds too similar to Adolin.”
“I do not like it.”
“Kei, for Kellai?”
“I do not wish for him to be named after a Herald.”
Evi looked at Sja-anat for a long time, thinking. “Re? It is a good name, and not from a Herald. I have known a few Res, all good people.”
“Re. For Rira. Yes.” Sja-anat hoped she had not answered too hastily. Re, for darkness, for secrets, for Evi.
“Redallin? No, I don’t like the sound of it. Renarin? Hm, that might be nice. Renarin.”
Re-Narin. Just as Re-Shephir was the Mother of Shadows, Re-Narin would be the Son of Shadows. Born unto the darkness of the days of the Blackthorn. Born unto Odium’s champion. Born unto death. Born unto long, hard days and longer, lonelier nights.
“Born unto the Blackthorn and Evi. Born unto Alethkar and Rira. Let him know he is of two people, two worlds,” Sja-anat said.
"Thank you, Spirit," Evi said, and stepped forward to touch the mirror reverently. "I will burn incense and seal the name in the Riran way. I will tell the Vorin ardents. And I will seal my promise to name him with your blessing." She touched her forehead to the mirror, and Sja-anat could feel the warmth of her intention.
To keep him safe from Odium, Sja-anat would never be able to show a hint of interest in the boy. He would be born unto shadows, born of the love of those who could only watch from afar. In the future, she would do her best to hide him from Odium. Until then, this would be the only blessing she could give.
“Then it is sealed. His name will be...Re-narin.”
If you are thinking, hey, I would like to know why Sja-anat thinks that Evi worships her, you can read my fic Of Me (Rated Mature, 3000 words) and find out how they met in this AU

Hey followers! What's a low-hit Cosmere fic that you think deserves a read?
I'll go first, here's one of mine that I think is pretty good, but probably got lost in the shuffle during femslash february:
Partners in Crime, rated General, 1500 words, Rushu & Venli, 30 hits. Rushu misses her eating window, but Venli refuses to let her go hungry.
people are really looking at stats to determine if a fic is worth reading? no wonder fics that never got popular at the first drop never had a chance 💀

femslash february drabble 4 for @kogiopsis
one, I can’t believe you sent me six of these, two I can’t believe I’m on the fourth already, three do I even remember how to write Shasnah gosh it’s been a while sorry for any oocness?? idk?
Shasnah 21
21. Over your shoulder
Shallan sat comfortably on the edge of one of the terraces in Urithuru, her legs dangling down the wall, her drawing pad held tight in her lap as she charcoaled in the landscape around her. It was a stunning panoramic view, and it had been too long since she’d drawn anything that wasn’t a portrait or a new species of plant. She’d forgotten how relaxing landscapes could be.
“Please don’t fall off,” Jasnah said from behind her, and Shallan let out a hum of surprise, half-turning to see the princess leaning in the doorway that led to this balcony. She smiled at the concern in Jasnah’s eyes.
“I’ll be fine,” she said. “I’ve done much more terrifying things for the sake of my art. Once, I dangled off a ship on a single rope, underwater, to get a better image of a santhid.”
Jasnah nodded wryly. “Of course you did. I just thought you’d be more cautious now. That I would have taught you some caution.”
Shallan arched an eyebrow.
“Ah, yes, the woman who traversed the Cognitive Realm on her own to appear, bandaged and torn with a sword in hand? Truly, you set the example as the height of caution.”
Jasnah gave her a withering look. “Well, the sword was a precaution against danger, so surely that proves there was some hesitance against recklessness.”
Shallan laughed, turning back to her drawing. “I love you,” she said over her shoulder, “and I promise to take your cautious example to heart. As soon as I finish this drawing.”
She felt more than heard Jasnah leave the doorway and approach her, footsteps the practiced quiet of one who had grown used to trying not to be heard. The princess’ hands gripped her shoulders lightly, steadying her as she bent and dropped a light kiss on the top of Shallan’s head.
“Thank you,” she said. “We should not trust that the stormlight can fix all of our injuries.”
“Fair point,” Shallan admitted. “I will be careful.” She leaned back against Jasnah’s legs, pressing her back into her skirts. “But you must promise to be just as careful,” she said, suddenly serious. “I do not think I could lose you again.”
Jasnah’s grip tightened on her shoulders, reassuring.
“I promise I shall strive to never be lost again.”
“Good.”
