Completed
One morning, Severus Snape wakes up with a furry visitor snuggled under the quilt with him. As he pulls back the quilt, two glowing eyes lock with his, and everything is turned on its ear.
As the rest of his visitor crawls out from under the covers, he realises he has a problem. There is a Nundu cub in his bed, and for some reason, she's bound to him.

One of my favorite time travels, and I believe it won a writing award.
Severus Snape/Hermione Granger (with a little Lucius and Hermione at the beginning)
While Harry and Hermione are reminiscing about the past at Grimauld Place, a very angry Ron shows up. He's pissed off about a lot of things, but mainly how close Hermione and Harry are. Harry and Ron get into a physical altercation, and during it Hermione is thrown into the wall and cuts her head, bleeding on the Black family tapestry. While she is down and unable to defend herself, Ron wishes that Hermione Granger had never been born and sends a curse her way.
The next thing she knows, she is in Grimauld Place, but as an 11 year old and is the twin sister of Sirius and older sister of Regulus. Hermione Ankaa Black is her name.
Now Hermione must navigate a new life with her knowledge of the future.
There is A LOT going on in this fic. This is not the Orion and Walhburga we are used to. Yes, she is stern and formidable, but not abusive. And Orion cherishes his children, especially Hermione. He calls her his "little chick" and you'll find out why later.
Tons of characters that might have been mentioned in passing are central players, especially when the truth about Hermione's time-traveling rebirth comes to light.
This is about found family, shunning house rivalries, and taking down not only the Dark Lord, but one fucked up Albus Dumbledore who has done some atrocious things himself.
There is romance, but it's a slow burn and it's actually quite sweet. Lucius is smitten when he first meets Hermione and they do court. Unfortunately, his father and Narcissa's mother will not let Lucius tie himself to some freak.
Severus and Hermione is endgame, and they go from best friends to lovers.
Don't let the pairing throw you off. They are the same age and Hermione has basically been reborn. She even looks like a Black.

Thank you for one million views!
✨ ONE MILLION ✨
There's a million things swirling in my head right now but I'd just like to say how over the moon I am to have crossed over a MILLION hits on my fanfics on ao3!
It's surreal, honestly, I wouldn't be here had it not been for my readers' constant love and support towards my fics. Even when I had my moments of self-doubt and couldn't update for months, it was your support that kept me going and got me to this milestone, and for that I am so utterly grateful. Your support means more to me than I can ever truly express - it feels like more than I deserve. 💌
There are so many incredible writers on Fanfiction.net (where I got my start!) and ao3 that are an inspiration to me - Perry_Downing, tm_writes, ReyloTrashCompactor (NextToSomething), crochetaway, SageMcMae, forthelongestday, EricaNoelle180, ohwise1ne, blueenvelopes935, SouthSideStory, corvusdraconis, Red_Lily_Wine (Lilia_ula), Avdal, Simaril, TearoomSaloon, HollyDB, Ever-so-reylo, FlamingMaple, Janina, BelleMorte180, avidvampirehunter, Elywyngirlie, Hormonal_Trashbag, and countless more.
I was 15 when I started sharing my work on fanfiction.net, and I'm about to turn 25 (in just a couple of minutes...!). It feels like a character arc in itself haha; the journey from losing my mind over a hundred views to now over a million! Thank you all so much - I hope that you continue to enjoy my work in 2024 (and yes - Curious Girl will be updated!). 🥂💖

FIC REC: Looks can be Deceiving by corvusdraconis
If you love a BAMF, unbelievably smart Hermione Granger, this fic is definitely for you. It is a Viktor/Hermione pairing, with a found family trope. You will laugh, cry and want to rage at the world. I could not stop reading it once I started. There are OCs and revisions of canon characters. The plot line, character development and trope are A+.
Some common themes:
HEA
Found Family
Mild Ron bashing
Severus Redemption
OOC Draco Malfoy
Pack dynamic (but not A/B/O)
It has 100 chapters, 436k+ words, and it's completed!!

The Scheduling au - pt 6
Yes it’s a day late but I fell asleep at like 8:30 last night after having two drinks and technically it was a public holiday in NZ so I’m justifying it.
Anyway the next part has finally arrived and it’s probably my favourite and so to start a little bit of ✨lore✨
So Vampires. In the show there was a throw away line about there being some vampires that had been there for decades.
My headcanon explanation for this is theres a difference between born vampires and turned vampires.
Born vampires age normally until their body’s decide they like the age they are weather that be in their early twenties all the way up to their late sixties.
However turned vampires are slightly different they don’t really age beyond when they are turned unless the are under 21 in which case they only really age maybe 10 or 15 extra years as their body settles into vampirism. There are also laws against turning anyone under the age of 16 because consent reasons. Those who are turned before then are put down because they are basically fuelled by bloodlust. (Yes this idea is inspired by @corvusdraconis)
So the turned vampires go to nevermore for a few extra decades to get a handle on their new society and how they factor in to it and to also help them blend in with normies when asked where they go to school. All the elder turned vampires also tend to do night courses and internships if it looks like they are a touch too old to be in school normally. (This is the reason why I implemented the night-school hours.)
And now the fun part as told with bullet points:
Larissa made friend withs few of the turned vampires in her school days and would keep in touch with them while she was studying to become a teacher.
During her years as a teacher at the school she would shapeshift back into her 20 year old self and have get togethers with her vampire friends
She mainly changed her looks so they wouldn’t fell weird hanging out with a teacher
As a present one year one of her friends gave her a pair of sunglasses so she would blend in more
They nicknamed her Issa
At some point the new students just assumed she was a vampire student in her last years and on internship because they only really saw her once or twice a week
They think she an albino vampire because she always wears her glasses when shes pretending to be a student
Yes she wears the uniform
She helps the younger years with homework and sometimes just helps out with life things
As Issa, shes well known for stopping bullying and harassment
The other teachers are only somewhat aware of the fact that she is Issa and tend to just let her be
Some of the students have figured out that she is their teacher and later on principal, but those who figure it out never out her because they find it reassuring that she takes their interests to heart and helps out on occasion
Well thats all for now cause it’s almost bedtime and I’m tired but I think up next is extracurriculars

Tumblr media
Hello Friends! In previous posts about growing our audience and brand, we have talked about the importance of the time of day you choose to post and the (apparently) growing utility of Twitter in increasing your reach.
Today we are talking more generally about social media and the importance of engagement.
Obviously, the first thing you need is awareness. You need consumers of what you create to be aware of you as a creator of what they consume.
The first point of contact you can rely on is the window of time your works appear on the front page of the various fanfiction platforms when people search for your pairing. To maximise the number of people seeing your work you should post when your fic will appear on the front page during the peak time for visitors to that site.
From there is something I assume most of us are already doing which is self-promotion, where we search out Facebook groups (or similar) that are dedicated to the types of work we make and advertise whenever we post new work or update. Again to maximise awareness of you and your stories, choose a time to post when the maximum number of your audience are likely to be online.
Something else you might not have considered is to create a “pin” of various snippets of your works on Pinterest and tag with the various characters’ names, the pairing portmanteau as well as the title and link this to whichever platform is hosting your story. It sounds weird but if people are looking for pictures or other bits and pieces for your preferred characters on Pinterest they may well enjoy your story featuring them (believe it or not, this is exactly how I fell into Snamione in the first place, I stumbled across a pin taken from Chasing The Sun by Loten and the rest is history.) The other benefit is an additional search result for your work on Google.
Beyond that, we have less reliable ways for people to become aware of us and our work through things like our readers choosing to recommend our stories to others or for our stories to be put forward when random people in these same groups ask for story suggestions and ours fit the bill. There is little we can do to increase the number of people finding us this way.
Once you are doing everything you can to create awareness you need to make that next critical leap - engagement. You need people who see your story on the front page or promoted on Facebook or Pinterest or Tumblr or Twitter to click through and start reading or to click on your profile and learn more about you. In short, you need people to buy into what you're selling.
From the front page, that means things like a killer summary (and an eyecatching thumbnail on FFN), on Facebook groups, it means also having a great graphic to draw the eye of people scrolling and get them to pause and read your summary. Moreover, when using social media it can mean having a way for people to engage with you directly, whether that is a Facebook account in your pen name, a Fan page, a Tumblr or Twitter account.
In spaces where consumer choices are high - such as a fanfiction platform where there are tens of thousands of authors there are many factors in how consumers make their choices and some of that will be their perception of you and your “brand” of fanfiction. For example, CorvusDraconis is a prolific and popular creator who is primarily known for “creature fic”. It is their trademark and now established, it is a drawcard for people in the market for it. In your case, it might be your unique narrative voice or a recurring theme or device that appears in your stories.
“Branding” as a means of driving engagement is not new and here are a few key dot points about how branding impacts consumers (your audience):
Consumers use brand to distinguish an author’s offerings from those of other writers. It allows people to make efficient judgements of quality and suitability will help prompt a quick click.
Consumers use brand to create and display self-image and identity. This is true even in a space as nebulous as fanfiction. People might think of themselves as “A sucker for Time-Turner fics” or “squicked by Marriage Law fics” or “Into this type Dark!Hermione” and this is displayed in their favourites and follows and comments both directly on your fics and on threads about fic in general.
Consumers can interact with the brand and even co-create it. By that, I don’t mean yahoos telling you “you should have this happen in your story”, I mean the people who leave comments like “Oh this was AMAZING I really hope you write more Soulmate stories!!” The difference is if it happens you have another soulmate story idea or find yourself inspired you have the opportunity to let this reader know. They feel heard and validated and their personal investment feels returned upon and are far more likely to both continue being a fan and to recommend your work to others.
Consumers for relationships with the brand (in this case your pen name’s vibe/persona) from which they derive satisfaction.
Brands help consumers establish and maintain social relationships - well, this is clear, you're HERE, aren’t you? An HP fan turned author who then formed online friendships with other people doing the same?
All these points matter but points three through six are where brand engagement really shines.
Fans don’t instantly become fans. It takes time and growth. One small reading experience matures into something more meaningful and lasting. While this can happen purely organically, you’ll find more consistent results if you guide your fans through an engagement process. Think of it as a funnel, taking your audience deeper into your brand to have more significant emotional experiences.
The levels of an engagement funnel include the following stages:
Discovering the brand
Consuming content
Making small shows of support
Participating in conversations
Championing the brand
Being present
Creating brand content.
Let’s briefly review what happens with fans at each level of the engagement funnel.
Discovering the brand. I feel like I covered this above so we can just skip ahead.
Consuming content. When you publish content, the fan consumes it. This is mostly passive, but it matters a lot!
Make small shows of support. A "like" on Facebook, a Kudo on AO3 a retweet etc. is a small action for a fan to take, but it is an interaction. That fan had to make a choice to do something.
Participate in conversation. Your fans add their voice to your self-promotion efforts through actions like comments and reviews. The scale and frequency of the dialogue matter, but any dialogue at all is a sign of deeper engagement.
Champion the brand. Your fan’s passion has grown to a point that they share your updates and content within their own network. That might mean hitting the share button or posting positive reviews and links to your stories on various Facebook groups. When you see even a small championing occurring, those actions are significant because they require much more investment from the fan. (risking their reputation in some cases)
Being present. In normal real-world branding, this would mean attending brand events like product launches when it comes to fanfiction however this might mean coming to a live stream of a fic reading or a Q&A session. Getting someone to show up, even virtually, is a big deal. Their presence may be virtual but they still had to arrange themselves to be present to view your content at a very specific time which all by itself is a meaningful commitment.
This is the Holy Grail of content marketing, the point where your fans are so passionate that they create content for you. These are fans who write blog posts about your stories, create fan art and manips for you or create TikToks or Youtube content featuring your work.
As with any marketing initiative, you’ll see better results if you work toward well-defined goals and map out a plan for reaching them. To create that plan, here are the steps you need to take to move fans into deeper levels of engagement:
Model the behaviour
Prompt the behaviour
Incentivize the behaviour
Reward the behaviour
Suppose your goal is to have more fans participate in conversation about your brand/stories for instance.
To model this behaviour you might leave a thoughtful, useful and positive review on a work you enjoyed recently which you then mention in an authors' note on your own work. Something along the lines of; “I just finished reading The Example and had to let A.N. Author know how much I loved it! The “prompt” aspect could be in a follow-up sentence; “It got me thinking how much reviews really help me stay motivated, I’d love to hear what my readers thought of this chapter/story etc.”
The “incentivize” and “reward” parts are a little more cloudy in fanfiction (where there is no marketing or promo budget) but could be as simple as making sure to reply to those readers who do comment and review right up to things like creating a “gift” fic for the author of your favourite review or your most faithful reviewer.
In conclusion, when you start to think about your social media fandom presence as a brand engagement funnel, you quickly begin to see how you can use your activity to move fans into increasing their participation (which in turn creates a sense of dynamism which draws new fans). Each level of the funnel supports the others, and while it may take time initially to build the kind of momentum that’s an obvious success, remember that every increase in engagement matters.

As I’ve said many times before on ao3, corvusdraconis is one of my *favorite* fic authors! 💙
Their sevmione stories are everything you could want - passionate, tender, and one of the few stories that consistently portray a healthy dynamic between Severus and Hermione, without making them seem OOC. They always handle Snape’s relationship with Lily well, and Hermione is never his second choice.
(Usually, she’s his first and only choice.)
I also adore the sheer magic that corvusdraconis weaves into their work! With every story they upload, they make the very world that JK Rowling seem far more complete, and well, magical. They’re so creative and lovely.
With over seventy works for Harry Potter, it’s so hard to choose a favorite! I adore all of their work, yet if I had to choose my favorites, they would be: A Wrinkle in the Plan, Siren’s Call, The Impossible Cure, and In the Darkness in Which We Are Made (their only explicit work to date).
If you have some time and want to read some sevmione, check out their work for sure! 🤍💙

What is your fav hg/ss time travel fic?? I have been trying and trying to find some but I’ve had absolutely no luck!!!
One Step Forward, Two Decades Back by Corvus Draconis is very well-done and a nice, long read too.  It can be a bit cracky at times, but in the very best of ways.
