I was a Bride once

I’ve always wanted to draw Emily from Corpse Bride, but when I finally sat down to bring her to life, I realized something was missing. While her original design is iconic, her wedding dress didn’t feel quite right for the Victorian era the story is set in. So, I took a creative liberty to reimagine her gown, aiming for something more historically accurate while keeping her beautiful, ethereal silhouette intact. It was a fun challenge to keep her essence while diving into a different design direction.

Tim Burton is stubborn when casting actors, but once he has found the perfect actors he sticks with them. e.g. Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands in Edward Scissorhands, Victor Van Dort in Corpse Bride, etc.

Now that Jenna Ortega is expected to play Lydia’s daughter in Beetlejuice 2 after the immense success of Wednesday, I believe Tim saw something in Jenna, something similar to what he saw in Johnny. The most apparent traits they have in common include both Jenna and Johnny being outstanding actors, as well as being sharp-featured.

Really hope Jenna will get to play more of Tim’s characters in the future!

Been thinking of a Corpse Bride AU between Malleus (Malleus getting the role of Emily/the bride lol) and my MC, Percy, and I need to figure out who Percy is originally intended to marry 😭. I say originally because in this AU I already have it planned that he ends up with Malleus in the end.

I've already thought of a few options:

1. Riddle, I think his mother and Percy’s mother are both the type of people who arrange such a marriage for their only children. He also just kind of fits the vibes for the Corpse Bride setting, or at least I imagine he would. I think in this case, Riddle is in love with someone else (probably Trey...), and while he doesn't want this marriage, he's not supposed to question or go against his mother.

2. Kalim, he really would be the person to worry about him and Percy liking each other. His parents probably want to get him a match and all that. He'd much rather marry for love but is probably being brushed up by everyone as it is his duty as the Asim heir to have a beneficial marriage.

3. Leona, and yes, it is purely for the shits and giggles of it. But I will stress that I don't already have a potential story for why him. I just do find it funny to pit him and Malleus against each other. Even if, in this case, Leona doesn't care much for marrying Percy, he just doesn't want to "loose" to the, well for this AU: dead lizard.
