I believe it’s common consensus that Jane Prentiss’s worms are a form of wasp larvae. I see this and raise you an alternative, Jane’s worms are wax moth larvae (aka wax worms).

Not only do they match the description given, silver/white bodies with a dark head. But more importantly, wax moths are parasites known for laying their eggs inside the hives of honeybees (and less commonly, wasp nests). The eggs hatch within the hives where the wax worms then begin to eat the honeycomb and structure of the hive. Essentially destroying the hive from the inside out.

Wax moths usually target hives that already have some sort of structural insecurity. Weakened hives that are already struggling are much easier to infiltrate. In the same way that Jane was an easy target for The Corruption.

Also I just really like wax worms.

I've been listening to TMA (just started S5) and I've seen a few people talk about fear alignment.

I am not sure if it is simply the one you like the most or the one you are the most scared of. I think it might be both. Or maybe neither. But anyway here are a few feelings I had about it :

I think the fears I would enjoy serving the most would either be The Lonely or The Eye. They seem comfortable, interesting and fun.

I've always been very scared of heights and I've had vertigo for as long as I can remember. So The Vast would have fun with me.

But I do not think that those things matter. I think the fear I align with is The Corruption and let me explain why.

The Corruption statements are the ones that are the most uncomfortable for me. I do not want to listen to them. They make me want to throw up. And yet I find them fascinating.

They disgust and scare me but I find myself wanting to know more.

But this isn't what convinced me. Mag153, Love Bombing, made me realize that this is the fear that could make me follow it.

I would listen to the Wasps nest that tells me that I am beautiful. I would fall in love with the beetle that tells me it loves me. The promise of companionship would get to me.

Not only is it the one that is the most likely to notice me since The Corruption is the most disturbing fear to me and the one that affects me the most but it's also the one that would be the most successful in luring me in.

I would fall for The Corruption, no matter how much I hate it, I would fall for it. And that might be what scares me the most.

Typing that makes me feel sick but I think that that is what it would want.

In DATV, our understanding of spirits deepens through two pivotal quests: In Memoriam and Spirits of the Dalish. These quests portray spirits as deeply empathetic entities shaped by emotions, capable of growth, distress, and healing.

The basic 'formula' can be used to figure out if a Spirit is going to become corrupted or return to the Fade: Purpose Disrupted → Emotional Distress → Catalyst Event → Mortal Intervention → Outcome (Corruption or Return).

In In Memoriam:

A Spirit of Compassion transforms into Eulogy through an act of remembrance.

This transformation highlights that spirits can evolve when guided by mortal intention.

In Spirits of the Dalish:

An 'Anxious Spirit', burdened by grief over the deaths of the Dalish, risks corruption.

Bellara observes that spirits overwhelmed by negative emotions are at risk of turning into something darker.

Spite identifies the Anxious Spirit as a Spirit of Comfort.

For the Spirit of Comfort to return to the Fade, it requires action, including: 1. Gathering mementos and 2. Holding a vigil.

This concept is briefly explored in DAI, but the encounter is so fleeting that it didn’t leave a strong impression on the creator, even after multiple playthroughs. However, it seems likely that this quest was laying the groundwork for a deeper exploration of the idea in DATV

In Burdens of Command (DAI):

A Spirit of Command struggles with the physical world’s refusal to obey its directives, unlike the fluid responsiveness of the Fade.

The spirit expresses frustration at its inability to exert control in the physical realm.

The Inquisitor aids the spirit by slaying the Rage Demon.

After receiving assistance, the spirit returns to the Fade with ease.

So, what does this tell us? Spirits are not static entities—they are deeply influenced by mortal intention, emotional states, and symbolic acts. Their stability hinges on fulfilling their purpose or finding resolution, without which they risk corruption or transformation.

1. Spirits Have a 'Threshold' for Emotional Distress

Implication: Spirits can endure negative emotions or experiences for only a limited time before risking corruption or transformation.

Significance: This suggests spirits have an internal tether to their purpose. When that tether is strained or broken, their identity unravels, leaving them vulnerable to corruption or transformation into darker forms (e.g., Comfort becoming Fear or Despair).

2. Spirits Require Resolution Through Action

Implication: The Anxious Spirit needed an act of closure (the vigil) to find peace, showing that spirits cannot simply "will" themselves back to their purpose—they require external, symbolic actions aligned with their nature.

Significance: Spirits rely on harmony between their emotional state and purpose, often needing external intervention to restore balance. This suggests they are not entirely self-sufficient and may depend on mortals or other spirits for stability.

3. Spirits Are Deeply Affected by Mortal Emotions and Experiences

Implication: The Anxious Spirit's distress stemmed from the violent, unresolved deaths of the Dalish, showing that spirits are deeply empathetic and can become trapped in emotional feedback loops tied to mortal events.

Significance: Spirits' emotional states are reactive and tethered to their surroundings, suggesting they can "absorb" ambient emotional energy, especially when it clashes with their purpose.

4. Corruption May Not Be Instantaneous, But a Process

Implication: Spirits do not immediately become corrupted when they encounter negative emotions. There is a window of opportunity to intervene, as seen with the Anxious Spirit.

Significance: This challenges the assumption that spirits are instantly corrupted by negative emotions.*

*Note: This is not including events where a spirit is bound against it's will and forced against it's purpose.

5. Action is Needed for Spirits

Implication: The vigil was not just a symbolic act for the Anxious Spirit—it was an anchor, grounding the spirit back to its original purpose.

Significance: Spirits often need ritual or symbolic acts to realign with their purpose after prolonged distress, highlighting their intrinsic connection to intention, symbolism, and the constructs of the Fade..

6. Time Is a Factor in Spirit Corruption

Implication: The longer a spirit exists in emotional distress, the closer they come to losing their purpose and becoming corrupted.

Significance: There seems to be an unspoken "time limit" during which intervention must occur. This "time limit" may different depending on the spirit as well--a more "simple" spirit, such as a Spirit of Comfort may have less time for an intervention vs a more "complex" spirit, such as a Spirit of Compassion.

So, today's episode of the Lunar and Earth show has me slightly worried. Allow me to explain...

So, we know Rez is on earth and is after Lunar and Lunar's family and he's trying to corrupt Lunar or any family members of Lunar to cause Lunar to be corrupted. That makes me very worried.

So I see one of two things happening.

1. Lunar is left without his support system.

Two of Lunar's closest friends will be gone for who knows how long... and that will leave Lunar without his best friend and without his sister. So, if something bad happens to Lunar mentally speaking, like maybe he gets attacked by Nexus or Creator or Razzle, and he's not doing great mentally, maybe he starts having nightmares or starts getting paranoid about Rez. This will leave Lunar mentally defenseless... somewhat. I mean, he still has Sun, Moon, and Solar, but they're busy with their own issues currently. (Dark Sun, Nexus, Creator, Moon's mental health) meaning Lunar might be on his own here. A perfect target for Rez.

Or

2. Monty gets corrupted!

So, we know Monty wants to marry Earth. He admitted it to Sun and Lunar and even asked for their blessings. Monty really wants to marry Earth, but from what we've heard, Earth doesn't want to get married yet.

Monty is taking Earth on vacation.... I have a bad feeling about this.

I think Monty plans on purposing to Earth during their vacation, but from what we know.... I have a feeling Earth will say no.... for right now, at least. We know she loves Monty a lot, and he loves her a lot. They both care deeply about the other, but one wants to rush into marriage, and the other doesn't.

Here's what will probably happen...

Monty will purpose to Earth, but she'll say "not right now," not a no but a wait a while. Monty will agree, but he'll probably be embarrassed and afraid he may have ruined things with Earth. He wouldn't hate or be mad at Earth, but he'll be mad at himself.

Negative emotions = Rez

Rez will use Monty's hatred for himself to corrupt him and Lunar and Earth will have to try and save Monty but the Astrals will be trying to destroy Monty cause the Astrals believe anyone who gets corrupted is just gone.... I don't think that's the case. I think there is a way to save corrupted individuals, but the Astrals just don't know that. This will lead to a

"Lunar and Earth vs. The Astrals vs. Rez" arc

And while I think they'll save Monty, I do think it will cause a lot of chaos and negative emotions for everyone cause Monty is very close to almost all of the celestial family. All I can say is

Lunar, Earth....

Nightwing!Damian would still be of the Corruption, though he has so many healthy relationships in his life that its influence on him is slipping. His swarm is smaller now than it’s ever been. His power fades day by day. He might even manage to be human again someday (he doesn’t know how he feels about that, when his swarm are so beloved & his monster side has always been a source of pride for Damian.)

Tim was always going to be of the Eye, being Oracle only doubles down on it.

Cass in the TMA AU is basically Agnes Montague, but for the Stranger. That wouldn’t change either.

Steph was only just starting out when Damian took her under his wing. She never fully got caught in the spiraling fixation on destroying her father by any means necessary, she couldn’t pursue one goal to the exclusion of all others, and as the first fully human (non-Alfred) member of the team, everyone would be doing their best to protect that humanity, monitoring her for any sign of supernatural influence and guiding her away before it could get its hooks in her (they are still Bruce’s children, after all.) Until she came out of the dirt, unsheltered & unprotected, already marked so many times over, with fear & rage boiling in her blood. Until Talia gave Steph her mind back, gave Steph a purpose again, and the rage boiled over plasmatic hate. Until Steph laughed like a roaring maelstrom, sparks crackling in her wild hair, something bordering on madness in her eyes, and Talia thought: Oh. I have made a mistake. (The storm would be leashed, eventually. Steph does have self control, she has goals to achieve, plans to make, and power alone could not do that. But in that moment, when Steph realized her killer was still killing people despite everything that had happened, in her pain & fury, she gave in. She stepped backwards off that invisible ledge and plunged headfirst into what she knew she was Becoming. She embraced it, wholeheartedly. In that moment, it almost wasn’t Stephanie Brown in that garden, but the Cataclysm itself inside her skin. Almost.)

Duke… I’m still struggling to think of a good match for, but honestly in this AU… His ability to connect, to make people listen to him, his desire to step up & save the city himself if he has to, and the fact Duke is the eldest/first batkid in this AU (giving him & Bruce even more in common when Batman had only ever fought alone) all make me want to say Web. BUT with his powers, his ability to lead a crowd, the sheer scale of his potential, I also want to say Vast? What little I know of Gnomon also says Vast, ALTHOUGH…. …we could play off their shadow control, invert Duke’s light powers for this AU, and say Dark. Which would make Duke borderline antithetical to Web!Bruce, but hey, maybe Web!Bruce wants to prove to himself just how much choice he still has—that the Web can make him as uncomfortable as it likes, but he’s still going to take care of a child in need. (Assuming he is going against the Web’s wishes, of course, and it isn’t reverse psychologying him…) (My gut says Web!Duke, though. The more I think about it, the more I like Web!Duke conceptually… but I am worried that it doesn’t fit him. That Duke’s all-or-nothing “if no one else is going to, I’ll do it myself” attitude & raw charisma is not close enough to the Web’s need for control. I don’t like it when people just assign characters an Entity for the Aesthetic(TM) or for shallow, surface-level reasons—it has to resonate with their own personal failings, or else what’s even the point?)

Jason was human when he joined the family, and they’d want to keep him that way… but I think by the time he gets back from the Red Robin arc, Jason would’ve been claimed by the Hunt.

Dick gets scooped up by the family almost immediately in this AU, and Cass does her best to temper in his early-days bloodlust. With Cass as his Batman, I think Dick would be tempted by the Vast, but ultimately chase after her by embracing his own Otherness. (Or Dick was already a Stranger when his parents fell. But honestly, I like the arc of Dick learning to love himself & following in his mentor’s footsteps so much more than making him a Stranger because Circus.)
