This one took me like days and my drawing app crashing to do this, for like 10 times and at risk of losing my progress due to the tendency for the app to crash and affect the file, that I have to restore it by replaying the speedpaint video the app had made.

The language in the Mondstadt-Teyvatian script that was shown in-game, and was made into a font by StationaryCottage from Reddit.

DISCLAIMER: the rest of this is just an AU setting! not canon-compliant + may reference SPOILERS in general for the archon quests and genshinlore

"My dear warrior, have you come to devote your voice to me?

Don't worry now! I'll make sure to put it to good use. With my help, your story will never fade from the songs of time. That is what my love can promise you. Have I ever led you astray?"

I can see this being caused by the defiled statue the Traveler found a while ago! Along with some other attempts from the Abyss to weaken the Anemo Archon's power...

Perhaps in this AU, Venti tried going against the summoning of archons to Khaenri'ah, which led to a warning/consequence from Celestia; tying the entrance to Celestia somewhere on Mondstadt, so that if their enemies were to seek it out, he would be placed under the burden of protecting them, for if not, Mondstadt would too be run down (punishing a god for his kindness... things like that)

ANYWAYS, in this case, I think if the Abyss did manage to weaken him enough, he'd probably sense his own corrosion coming and put Mondstadt into a timeloop as a last means of keeping his people safe + keep out the Abyss?

It takes the last of his power and he leaves to the outskirts, where he hides away in a hidden domain to 'rest', but of course he can't stave away the corrosion forever, and it takes form.

You're within Mondstadt during this timeloop, and are eventually led to the hidden domain because you're the only one that can hear a mysterious song calling out to you

Cue corrupted!Venti luring you in, because by now, he's not exactly himself anymore - dark purple energy replacing his previous anemo teal powers and the shade of his eyes

But it's Venti, and even if he's forgotten about his nation by now (only that they're locked away to keep them safe, in the illusion of freedom and peace), he remembers you.

...Well, he remembers his attachment to you, and asks if you'd like to stay with him there, in that domain. If you lend him your voice, perhaps he can figure out a way to keep you with him forever too! (Read: do not, he is stealing your voice as a source of power to use)

But perhaps even this is because a part of himself deep down remembers how he loved to hear you calling his name, laughing with him, and the way you used to look at him with...

"Is that fear in your eyes?" Venti hums, circling around you with lightness in his steps. He's in his archon form, wings brushing against your shoulder. You try not to think about the last time he showed you this form - back when it was a secret between the both of you, under clear skies and teal feathers that made your heart soar. The purple that cuts into your gaze sobers you. "Would you prefer if our new home was more reminiscent of old times?"

New home, as if he's already decided you aren't leaving now that you've found your way to him again. You briefly wonder if there's any ounce of the old Venti still in there, and if he was perhaps keeping you close to stop him from doing all this.

...Or maybe, he was asking you to keep him company before the world falls down, knowing that once the timeloop could no longer be sustained, even with his corrupted powers, you'd have to step up as a hero once more. Slay the monsters, free the kingdom. Save your friends.

With a lilting giggle, Venti covers your eyes with his hands. And when he takes them away, the domain has turned into...

Windrise? No, some condensed version of it, with azure skies and calming wind trailing on for miles. The tree still sits there. You remember the first time Venti introduced you to the sight.

He calls your name, and before you is Venti, still in his archon form, but with his blue glow and green eyes again. He gives you a cheeky smile, and you feel your heart ache.

"Better?" Venti cups your cheeks, stepping closer to you to place his forehead against yours. It's gentle, but you feel a foreign energy that's seeping away at yours, like it's trying to steal more away.

Like he can no longer love the same, needing to take something as a keepsake, before this illusion ends.

Maybe doing so in this form is an act of mercy to you. Venti's always been one to make sacrifices that were lost to the wind.

Just a Normal Genshin Impact Game Time... Is it?

This SAGAU fanfic was actually created like a year ago (March 15, 2023), but decided to redo this again. This was created during the time I was still Venti-less, so this one was like a story of me trying to cope at that time.

And yes, my latest fanart coincidentally fits this story too! I just stumbled on this back when I tried to scroll on my drafts while waiting for the fanart to be posted.

You were just playing Genshin Impact on your computer like any other day, just doing the usual stuff you always do every time you login like doing the daily commissions and farming domains to build your characters.

One day, after doing your usual Genshin dallies for the day, you decided to take some scenic pictures with your current team on board and explore Teyvat to look for random chests and hidden quests you may miss. You know, to pass the time and possibly scrounge for primogems to farm for your favorite character.

But as you try to explore the place while trying to find a good spot to take pictures, you couldn't shake the feeling that something is wrong, that something or someone was watching you.

You were confused at first, on why you are feeling like that. But you just shrugged, as you may think you just had too much coffee. After all, you love coffee to the bone.

As you took Kokomi to a scenic place somewhere in Mondstadt, you had noticed something strange that was hidden by a canopy of trees, few meters behind the current character. You squinted a little bit, your eyes still trying to figure out the culprit of your distraction.

There was a figure hidden behind the trees.

At first, you mistook it as a rock or something inanimate but you then noticed that it was actually a person when it moved. It was not an NPC or random animal, but an actual playable character. After all, you could recognize that outfit even from afar, as Genshin Impact characters had some unique styles that were fit for their personalities and status.

It was Venti, hiding in a tree from far away, with eyes glaring at you.

Your heart nearly burst out of your chest when you saw him as you quickly exit the camera mode, trying to find some explanation of why he was there, to begin with. Maybe there's an event that he had been with?

You checked the quest menu to check for any Mondstadt-related events that you probably never finished, but to your horror, there was nothing. You looked at some guides online, some clues onto why he was there, that there may be an event from other nations that had him as a guest, but to no avail. You remembered that you already did his story quest and the quests that he was actually involved in-game. Maybe it's a glitch?

With a shaky grip, you closed the quest menu and stared at the same spot again. Venti was still there behind the tree, watching you with soulless eyes.

You were shaking in fear as you were also staring at him.

As you were still frozen on your seat, trying to make sense of everything, the figure dressed as Venti suddenly pointing something at your Kokomi, his soulless eyes still looking at your terrified ones, like he was a rabid dog vying for attention.

You suddenly recognized what he was trying to do. He was pointing out his former signature weapon, the iconic Skyward Harp, at you.

"Wait, isn't the Elegy of the End his new signature weapon?" You muttered out as your mind had tried to remember about Venti. You were a fan of him, so it would be in your forte to remember every single detail about him.

You remember that even his weapon was already changed to Elegy of the End during his consecutive reruns due to the new bow fits his kit than Skyward Harp, the latter was still his signature weapon in lore.

In the corner of your eye, you noticed something weird once again, this time on the map.

Apparently, the map shows you that there is a second player on the map, and that player was near your vicinity. You widened your eyes as you remembered that you didn't do any co-op with a Venti main recently and you don't even have a Venti. And to your horror, even your co-op mode wasn't even turned on!

You had remembered that you always wanted Venti, but due to your impatient nature, you had decided to build pity and accidentally won Kokomi twice on the last day of her banner. You got C1 Kokomi instead.

Unfortunately, Venti's banner was next and you regretted that he never came home. You had lost your 50/50 to your very first Qiqi at 75 pulls... At the end of his rerun banner.

...this is weird and unsettling, so you decided to quit the game, but to your horror, you can't even access the damned menu, soft locking you out.

As you saw Venti's creepy smile while he was sadistically hitting your main team with his anemo-infused arrows, you were horrified at what happened next.

You watched your entire team being stabbed by his arrows, blood splattering on the screen like a grotesque painting, and your current team crying for mercy and help as they were hit by the arrows the Anemo Archon in disguise had been aiming at them and they were frozen in spot because of some twisted form of code that the game had, instead of them doing their usual lines while being on low HP or fallen down. And you couldn't even make them run by pressing the buttons to move the character you currently have because you're frozen in fear as you saw the character pleading for you to make them run away from the crazed fellow using your keyboard and mouse but you didn't. You didn't even help them survive.

You remembered that characters that had fallen down were supposed to turn into glowing white dust instead of this... bloody mess you were witnessing.

This isn't right!

It was like you were playing a horror game rather than a simple open-world RPG game.

Then while the carnage was happening, there is an in-game text that was showing up while this is happening, of Venti still happily singing his ballads while doing the unthinkable. As if he was gleefully watching you squirm.

You couldn't help but close the game in a blink of an eye after you witnessed the scene by trying to turn off the computer and decided to never touch the game again. Thankfully, your computer turned off, but it had left you traumatized.

You decided to uninstall the game after rebooting the computer. The usual uninstall window had appeared with a picture of a chibified Amber crying showed up and a message about asking if you were really uninstalling the app, as if beckoning you not to delete the game, but you insisted and still pressed the uninstall button.

You decided to leave your room while leaving the computer to do its duty to uninstall the cursed stuff, but after you went outside for some fresh air, the uninstall window that was supposed to show a chibified Klee signifying the game had been uninstalled, glitched for a second.

Venti's creepy smile was seen in a split second on the entirety of the computer screen instead of the window with Klee, with some words written in glitchy Teyvatian language then in glitchy English that was flickering in the screen before it turns normal once again.

After everything he's done for Mondstadt, how hard he fought for their happiness. Only to be tossed aside and so easily forgotten. They had their freedom, what use was he to them now, anyway?

He would show them. He would show all of them the consciousness of turning your back on your archon.

Even with the poison, he still enjoyed his trickery, but perhaps to the wrong person, those tricks could turn deadly.

Imagine if Venti had like…some type of corruption cycle or something. Like Werewolves and a full moon?

Like, you know how the spiral abyss changes every so often? I forget how many days it is…but what if, every few cycles…Venti’s corruption comes out, and he becomes a vigilante storm -terror like figure and unleashes a storm at night, and it varies on how long it lasts and the severity. Still, after every time, Mondstadt faces pollution in the form of abyssal residue, which attracts more monsters. Due to much research and assistance from Liyue, getting rid of such problem spots is possible due to lumenspar, but it’s only so limited. Thinking that it will help, Mondstadt lets in more protection in the form of the Fatui…with more Harbingers cycling through Mondstadt.

The people don’t really know what is happening-they just assume that they made Lord Barbatos angry, but when there is a routine in storms…it just becomes the new normal. Jean and Diluc know, however, that this isn’t right. Especially since Venti, beloved bard of Mondstadt, has been gone for years. They pray the traveler will come back and help…but the traveler hasn’t come around in a long, long time.

Though Venti doesn’t have the power to just…get rid of this issue obviously, his management of this curse can determine the outcome of a flare-up.

Option 1: let the cycle flow normally. Storms are naturally more frequent and come every few moon cycles, but they are typically less severe. The symptoms will worsen under certain circumstances( Aka ties with Harbingers/fatui(mainly due to abyss order control and proximity), but as long as he listens to cues in his body and mind, he can make it manageable. During this time, Venti typically secludes himself within Stormterrors lair the entire phase with wind barrier up to keep as much out of the city as he can. It typically takes him half of a phase to snap out of it, but it can vary. This way is not as taxing on him, but the guilt eats him alive that he can no longer keep Mondstadt storm free as he once was able to…

Option 2: He can stave it off for some time. But every time he does this, it just makes things worse. There comes a point when he will simply lose control, and it’s inevitable that all of mondstadt will suffer greatly. However, in a period where he is holding the abyssal buildup in, Mondstadt is thriving. There’s less danger, and everything is just how it should be. People are just happier, and Venti doesn’t want to see them upset by another storm-so he holds it in for their sake…Everytime he does this, even when the storm has passed, he will still be extremely corrupt. Hell become dangerous, and even the city will face abyssal sludge on top of a huge storm. Even after, it will be storming non-stop for another entire spiral abyss cycle. Everytime he does this, he will lose more control over his corruption, even if he follows the normal cycle again.

Venti will appear more monster-like than anything- think defiled statue, but extremely terrifying.

Idk- this is just an idea. I really can't stand the theory of Venti being corrupt all this time and it slowly taking over him in game, but it's such an interesting concept and im obsessed with it at the same time. I made this version so he can deal with it, but obviously it's gonna have repercussions.

I found a "reincarnated in x fandom" fic for Digimon where a Gary Stu person is sent back to during the Greymon/Parrotmon fight. He infiltrates the Kamiya family to get with Kari later. While waiting for Digimon Adventure to actually start, he does Tai a "courtesy" and offers to care for Kari while he plays soccer, thus avoiding the most traumatic event of Tai's childhood.

Do you know how fucking poisonous that offer is? Like, if I found a genie and wished myself into Odaiba at a certain point, I could do this. But genies don't exist. But I do have my keyboard. I could literally invent something equally simple. I could insert a "childhood friend" to take over, or make it rain that day, or make Kari not sick, or make their parents more attentive. I could make it never happen.

But then who would he be, if he didn't suffer through that? Would he still be Tai? Would he be someone else? Someone unrecognizable? Would I still love him, or would he become something detestable? My main fear is that he'll go full dudebro due to the athletics aspect of his character, and become everything I hate.

It's astounding how much of his care for others came from this incident. I even once made a post about how his behavior in tri. is an extension of it, because his trauma was never properly resolved in Adventure (this is my headcanon and I'm sticking to it).

I've ignored the epilogue before. But backstories- especially with children involved- are different. Is saying "this part of his childhood didn't happen and he never suffered" worth the price? I'm too terrified to try this experiment on Tai. But I like the general idea of it. What if you could erase your blorbo's most traumatic event? Would you do it? What would they become?

When I'm not busy with NaNo, I should write about that. Not with Tai, but original fic. Like a prompt, almost. I do want to revisit this, but I want to do it in a way that won't emotionally wound me.
