Have you ever heard how foxes sound!? 📣🦊
I headcanon that Commander Wolffe and Commander Fox do this since they were tubies 🫠 Wolffe knows exactly how to get his brother to let off some steam! And Fox would never admit, but no matter how stressed he is, he plays along because it's one of the rare chances to get Wolffe chuckling! 🤩
I had this idea for quite a long time, but today I was so happy to stumble over it in this gorgeous piece of Wolffe and Fox tubies by @catawampuscorner! Your honor ✨ I had time and so that's it! 😂 Thank you for the inspiration to realize it! 🫶

Spooky art prompt: Fox in a scary alley deep in the Coruscant underworld, with strange creatures lurking in the shadows
Fox hated the nights he had to patrol the alleys of the lower levels by himself. Not because he was alone, but because his scanning equipment always mysteriously stopped working…and no one believed him

Thanks for sending a request!
This one combined with yesterday’s is making me really want something like a Corrie Ghost Stories anthology, maybe call it Horror Corries insteada Horror Stories or somethin’. Hmmm…something to think about…

more in the vein of "corries try to make leave a pleasant time for GAR troopers and GAR troopers understand the stress they're under", i like to think of some corries being a bit mischievous and tricking them into eating something that tastes super bad or something that's meant to look like an object, like edible paper. and i also like to think of GAR troopers having a small game of seeing who can convince the most corries to join in on the fun they set up for everyone else instead of sitting by and monitoring. for example, wolffe gets fox to join him in playing some sport (that the corries found civilians playing and sorta changed it to be more fun for clones), and this causes thorn to join, so several of fox and thorn's men join, so wolffe is winning. but to him, fox having fun (safely) is sort of its own win

So, according to the background lore, while growing up on Kamino, if the clones had any bouts of anger or frustration, they were put into the "retraining tank" which was essentially isolation. And at some point, this just kinda manifests in the clones in not being able to express their negative feelings properly, and either pushing them down or dealing with them by isolating themselves, because those two things are the only things they know how to do that somewhat work.
The Jedi help with this, of course. They teach their men how to meditate, how to express themselves, how to deal with their negative feelings and also let them go and not let them fester, and how the clones adopt this part of their conduct as well. Meditation becomes almost mandatory. It's not strictly enforced by the Jedi, but it is enforced by the Commanders and the rest of the men, especially when Shinies come from Kamino.
The Guard doesn't have a Jedi.
What they do have, is empty closets to go sit in quietly or maybe scream.
It's the best and the only thing that they have.

Corrie Week Day 4: Accidental Child Acquisition
Wrote this in the last hour of work because I am a horrible horrible procrastinator :D
Please enjoy!
Group Chat: “Shebs Squad Lives (despite trying hard not to)”: Woof, Coat, Fly, Socks, Bonds, and Wrecks are active.
Socks: @Coat help me
Bonds: first time we’ve heard from Fox since deployment and it’s a cry for help
                This is normal
Wrecks: are you sure about that?
Bonds: that Fox needs help? Or that that’s the only way he’d voluntarily comm us after refusing to respond for months?
Woof: someone is bitter
Socks: @Coat! It’s Important!
                and urgent!
Fly: wow
                Exclamation marks
                That’s serious business
Coat: I’m kriffing BUSY @Socks!
Socks: trying to get in your Jedi’s Obi in not busy
now how the kriff did you handle Rex as a cadet?
Wrecks: why are we talking about me?
Socks: it’s not ABOUT YOU!
It’s about how KOTE HANDLED YOU
Bonds: oh
                my
                Force
                @Socks
                Did you obtain a CHILD??
Socks: kriff off Ponds
Woof: omf he totally did
                kriff
how did Fox become a buir first?
I had money on it being Ponds :/
Fly: you owe me so many drinks, vod
Woof: hate that for me
Coat: First of all
                I AM NOT
                Second of all
                I just winged it
                he turned out fine
Wrecks: to this day I am traumatized
Coat: you are the only Captain in the GAR with Commander responsibilities
                you turned out fine
                now
                I AM BUSY!
*Coat is now marked as AWAY.*
Socks: that did not help me
Bonds: I practically raised you lot
                I have some good advice
Woof: don’t lie to yourself, vod
                17 raised us
Bonds: lies and slander
Fly: no Wolffe is right
                17 raised us
you just gave him the least amount of gray hair
Socks: whatever
what do I do with this tiny fragile child?
Bonds: how tiny is tiny?
Socks: *has sent 3 holopics*
Fly: Fox
                vod
why the kriff do you have a natborn tubie?
Socks: I DON’T KNOW!
Someone left them at the front door to Corrie command!
Woof: seems like theyre better off with you than with someone who would leve them outside on CORUSCANT
Socks: I have never in my life wanted to be a buir
this could have happened to literally ANY OTHER vod and they’d be ecstatic
instead it goes to the one who ABSOLUTELY DIDN’T WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ANOTHER LIFE
Wrecks: you are literally responsible for every Guard there is
Socks: those are fully grown soldiers who can take care of their damn selves
this is a being that can literally do NOTHING on their own
I don’t have time for this osik
I’m busy doing actually important things and not trying to get into my Jedi’s pants
                *cough* @Coat
Bonds: the shade is real
                also
I have no clue what to do with a tubie outside of their growth vat
                sorry vod
Fly: doesn’t Coruscant have foster? Adoption agencies? Something like that?
you could literally just go hand them over
Socks: …
you want me to leave my tubie WHERE?
Wrecks: ah
there’s the shebs squad’s attachment problem
                genuinely thought that skipped Fox
Socks: I can’t just leave my tubie any which where BLY
those services are dangerous and very corrupt
what if they ended up in a worse place?!
Bonds: worse than the stoop of Corrie Guard Barracks?
                didn’t think that existed tbh
Socks: stku Ponds
you don’t get to kark over my troopers just because yours can’t kriffing behave on leave
Bonds: BEHAVE???
YOUR CORRIES ARREST THE GAR FOR THE STUPIDEST REASONS!
Woof: oop
                got Ponds big mad
Wrecks: been a while since that happened
Socks: the reasons are in the Welcome to Shore Leave datapad EVERY TROOPER HAS ACCESS TO
not my Guards’ fault you GAR type can’t kriffing read
Bonds: GAR TYPE???
                VODE KRIFFING AN YOU SHEBS’PALON!
Socks: since kriffing when???
as far as GAR troops are concerned, the Guard stopped being Vode as soon as they were deployed to Coruscant
you can take your sanctimonious kark and shove it in your shebs
I’ll get someone who actually kriffing likes me to help
*Socks has left Group Chat: “Shebs Squad Lives (despite trying hard not to)”*
Woof: well kriff
                that didn’t go well
Fly: good job Pondsie
he finally got on and you made him leave
Wrecks: truly one for the books
Bonds: kriff you guys
like you wouldn’t have done the same
Woof: actually I was more excited to see Fox reaching out that being big mad about my troops ending up in the slammer
they know exactly what they did to get arrested
I made them all read the Shore Leave datapad
                they just do it anyway
Wrecks: my trouble makers would make it a to do list so I confiscated all the copies
                but I did read it
                it’s very thorough
Fly: Aayla read it then gave me a tl;dr
Bonds: kriff
--
Fox holed himself up in his office as soon as he found the tubie. Away from the noise and nosiness of the rest of the Guard. (They can’t help it, they all live on top of each other, you can’t hide osik from anyone in Corrie HQ. Not that Fox was hiding the tubie.)
“Should we give them a name?” Thorn was kneeling on the floor and looking at the tubie in Fox’s laps with eyes bright enough to put a sun to shame. It’s been awhile since Fox has seen that look.
“I think we should just call them tubie until they can pick their own. That’s what all vode do. They shouldn’t be any different.” Thire added his two credits, smiling as the tubie gargled in his direction, a bubble of snot popping from their nose.
Adorable.
“Yeah, but they don’t have a number to call them by in the meantime. We can’t just call them tubie, that’s a general word.” Stone murmured, carefully leaning over Fox’s shoulder to get a closer look at the so very small tubie.
“Maybe we should give them a Use Name? There’s a lot of cultures that have them and then pick their own when they reach majority age, so thirteen in natborn years probably.” Hound kept Grizzer close by even as the massiff wagged their entire body in excitement.
“What could be use as a Use Name though? That feels a little too like Naming them and I don’t like that.” Thorn frowned, lightly trailing his fingers down the tubies little pudgy arm, smiling helplessly when they grabbed his hand and giggled.
“Obviously it should be a variation of Fox, he did find them.” Thire looked up to Fox with a smirk and if he wasn’t holding a tubie Fox would have actually punched them.
“There are no variations of Fox, unless you want to call them Faux with the properly pronunciation, but I don’t like that.”
“What about Sox? Senth, osk, xesh? That’s a spelling play on socks. I think it fits.” Stone carefully avoided Fox’s eyes, being the only one in the room that knew his batch chat user name. Not that it mattered anymore.
“Did Cody have any advice?”
“No. He was busy.”
“Oh…well you were typing a while…were the others helpful?” Oh Thire. Ever the optimist.
“No. They were mostly concerned that I ended up a buir first, or blaming me for their troopers getting arrested for breaking the rules on Coruscant.”
The entire room echoed the patented Corrie Stank Face™ because Fox had his entire command staff whipped into the proper shape of vod that he got along with.
Competent shebs’palon’e that they are.
“Well, at least we still have Vos.” Thorn sighed, still held captive by the little tubie.
“I don’t know if Vos should count as reliable information about the care of a natborn tubie, but he’s all we have at this point.” Fox looked down into warm brown eyes and smiled helplessly at how adorable his tubie was.
“Ooooh! His Use Name should be Plots! Because that’s what Fox is the best at!”
The room filled with laughter for the first time since Fox arrived to this horrid posting, he almost forgot what it sounded like. All thanks to his little Plots.
“Ni kyr’tayl gai sa’ad, Plots.”

Uhhhh have this old draft from a long fic that will never get published or finished about Cin taking in the Corries and becoming the ultimate Guard Dad ™ with two Guard groups under his lead 🫡
A single man stood outside, arms held loosely behind his back as he waited.
At a glance, the Jedi appeared to be human and older than Prime— but definitely younger than the Chancellor. An exact age was difficult to pinpoint, and Fox can't exactly place the Jedi among the ones that he had seen before— the files only held the ‘important’ Generals who were out on the field so far.
With long hair partially tied back and robes much more streamlined than the ones Fox had seen on several other Jedi, this was not one of them within the database— not yet, at least.
Upon catching sight of him, however, the man simply bowed slightly at the waist— something that caught Fox off guard for a moment before the Jedi seemed to lock eyes with him.
Uncanny.
Fox was wearing his bucket, there was no way that any normal man would be able to lock eyes with him through it so quickly— but then again, Fox had never been in contact with a Jedi before, he had only heard stories. Which made it all the more uncomfortable.
The Jedi’s eyes were a dark shade, possibly brown, but there was something… green there too, seen only when the man straightened up and the light caught in them.
And then all at once it was gone and Fox was pinned in place by irises as deep and dark as the oceans on Kamino.
“Apologies for pulling you away from your duties so abruptly,” the man spoke, pulling Fox from his thoughts “I am Jedi Master Cin Drallig, the current Battlemaster and head of Security of the Jedi Temple here on Coruscant. I take it that I would not be remiss to assume you’re the Leading Commander of the Coruscant Guard?”
The temple on Coruscant? Were there other Jedi Temples? Other sects of Jedi? Should Fox be worried about his brothers being flung far out in the corners of the galaxy and not returning to Coruscant because they were placed under the command of a Jedi who didn’t call the Temple here on this planet their home?
Furthermore, Leading Commander? It wasn’t like it was a damn secret that there was more than one Commander Ranked Clone among the hundreds of thousands of Soldiers in each army sector, but he had never heard of anyone calling a Commander a “Leading Commander” before.
Not even when it came to ones like Cody or Wolffe or even that group of Alphas that Fordo and Stec had gathered together— and all of them were Commanders.
(Part of Fox couldn’t help but feel a curl of pride in his gut. Leading Commander. It was a good title, it held the weight of responsibility with it. Marshall Commander was fine, but there was just something about Leading Commander…)
Shaking from his thoughts, Fox simply nodded before snapping into a salute.
“Yes sir, CC-1010,” he confirmed, tensing slightly when Drallig raised a hand— only to stare at the slight flick of the wrist that was almost universal for ‘at ease’.
Drallig didn’t want him in a salute.
He hesitated, but lowered his arm— though he didn’t dare relax.
“1010…” Drallig mused, moving his hand to rest under his chin slightly, head tilting to one side. “Is there a specific name that you would prefer to be called, Commander? Granted, if you prefer to go by a number, I am in no place to judge, but, well… I’m afraid to say that you might end up being called ‘Toes’ by some of the initiates who associate the number ten with them. Humans and many others have ten fingers and ten toes, after all, Commander.”
Behind him, Fox knew that his men who had ventured out to see what was going on were most certainly staring at the Jedi General in bewilderment— he knows this because he’s doing the same thing.
No one had asked for his name before, not the senators, not the chancellor, not the nat-born soldiers or the Senate Guard who the Coruscant Guard were supposed to work alongside— none of them had bothered to learn his name, let alone the names of his brothers.
Fox took a breath before he nodded, just slightly, cautiously.
“Fox, sir,” He told him, keeping his tone even and void of any wariness, but not at all letting his guard down.
The Jedi had not been mocking, at least, he hadn’t been so openly, and if he had been mocking him at all, the man hid it well.
As far as Fox could tell, Drallig was sincere, if not a bit amused at these ‘initiates’ for some reason.
“Commander Fox, then,” Drallig repeated, almost instantly and a heady feeling began to seep into Fox’s bones.
His brothers among the Commanders had spoken about how it felt to be addressed by a Jedi, addressed by name, addressed like a person. Bly had said that it was a bit intoxicating, and Cody had mentioned something about the warmth of the sun— even the ever conservative and wary Wolffe had mentioned that his General, Plo Koon, had an effect on his men.
The Kel Dor’s mere presence seemed to relax them now, though not enough for the 104th, let alone the Fourth Systems Army, to dull their fangs and let their guard down.
Or so Wolffe said.
Regardless, Fox got it now. He did.
And such a thing was dangerous if he wasn’t careful.

so all of the fic where the GAR and Coruscant Guard don't get along because the GAR thinks Coruscant is a cushy gig and the Guard are in Literal Hell are
so fucking chefkiss
like it is a trope i will DEVOUR, i will unhinge my jaw and swallow that shit whole
but
what about an inverse?
what about a Guard that's the protecting soldier meme except real?
troopers on leave on Coruscant finally feel like they can relax from the war because they know the Guard has their back, and everyone knows that if you need a hand or an ear or a hug you can ask any Guard* and they are always the most patient helpful big brother types ever, they will listen and they will help and they will protecc
(*sole exception: fox**, who shoulders all of the pain and rage and condenses it into a tiny supernova of fury in his chest that he shoves down into a locked box of emotions, and one day he'll die
**except also very much including fox, who rages and rails and might throttle you for being an idiot but he'll also absolutely gut any aggressive natborn that even breathes in your direction)
so they still might think that Coruscant's a cakewalk compared to the frontlines but they're glad that they have brothers protecting the homefront too, they're glad that at least SOME of them can stay gentle and kind and at peace
of course then palpatine and the sith and all the corruption in the senate are exposed
(because TCW canon is for COWARDS and people who like being SAD)
and the GAR realizes all the shit that the Corries went through, all the ostracization and threats and abuse and pain
and it just
made them kind

Fox Knows:
Tumblr media
Drabble undercut!
He doesn’t know what it is when he wakes up.
Something is different.
Fox knows that. But what?
He lifts his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose (a gestures he’s only seen before when people seem stressed) and misjudges the distance slightly and pokes himself in the eyes.
Then he realises.
HE did that.
He made his arm move. That’s, new.
It’s a good job he was already on the floor, otherwise his legs would have given way from shock.
Or at lest he thinks so. (That’s a thing, right?)
For now he leans against the wall and thinks.
It doesn’t take long before tears start rolling down his cheeks.
He doesn’t stop them.
Even if he knows that he should stop them and move.
He just, sits.
It’s the first choice he’s ever made, he realises.
To just sit and digest what’s just happened.
To digest the fact that he’s, finally, free.
Eventually he’ll have to get up.
Get back to the guard or talk to his batch mates and explain what happened to him or tell all of the commanders about the chips or confront the chancellor or help the Jedi before it’s too late (can he trust the Jedi-) or runaway or join another battalion or-
Later, he thinks.
For now, he’ll sit. Think about his new found freedom. What the means for him. What that means to him.
He knows later he’ll have to deal with the aftermath, help the other clones before they end up like he was.
He knows.
But for now, he sits.
He waits and marvels at the fact he made the decision to.
For now, the most important thing to Fox is this moment. And making it last a little bit longer.
Because right now he’s ,finally, free.

Ok but here's something I think about.
So Echo's mind was forcefully hacked and the utilization of his mind resulted in countless vod deaths. But he is not to be blamed because he was forced to be used, a cog in the machine that turned whether he wanted it to or not.
I think about him being a narrative foil or some sort of parallel to Fox. And I know the argument is that the manipulations used on Echo were not consensual, but Fox followed orders and therefore acted upon his will; and yes I do agree he did do as he was told and his obedience resulted in Fives' death which leads down a rabbit hole of preventable trouble. But also in my mind whether it was through the use of the inhibitor chip, emotional/mental/physical/etc manipulations and abuse acted against the Corries, or it being Fox's indoctrination I still think he was a similar cog in the ever spinning war machine. Even if it wasn't the first two options and it was him acting on what he believed were justifiable orders, I still feel equally as bad for him. Because he was raised to be that way, programmed even to be that way. The Kaminoans and the war machine demanded an attack dog and he became it. Yes I get it, he could have chosen to act differently, but you're telling me the indoctrination and ever present enforcement of propaganda and dogmatic thinking isn't still abusive and corrupt? That in a world where troopers could be reconditioned for being disobedient and you were trained since you were the equivalent of a toddler that if you were told the world is laid out in black and white that you wouldn't believe it? Rex and Cody and Wolffe and Bly and Ponds all have generals who help enforce personhood and individuality in clones, they encourage the building of self identity and acknowledge individual uniqueness. You think the Corries get that? On a planet where it's all about politics and paperwork? If the GAR has to deal with indoctrination ideals - as shown by Dogma and his stringent obedience - then you don't think that shit is drip fed into Corrie blood streams?
I'm saying that while Fox killed vod, in what mind does he have to do contrary? Echo's mind was highjacked, and to me in a way the Corrie's were highjacked as well. Not the same, not with physical wires and screws and pods but through slow and methodical programs and placements. Echo's forced servitude can be seen physically on his person, but the same manipulations that had Fox pull the trigger on his gun which killed Fives is all internal. Even if it isn't a chip, even if it isn't out of fear, he never had a chance to go against when his entire life was built to serve and do this. The Chancelor says jump, Fox will always ask, how high?

One of the more unforeseen side effects of adopting a chaotic Jetti youngling is that apparently it comes with random equipment upgrades?
None of them are on the books of course, and they have no idea where he keeps getting the parts. But the number of times something has broken in the barracks only to be repaired and upgraded by an over enthusiastic mechanically inclined 10 year old is higher than they can count.
He can also inexplicably usually tell when something is about to break or has something wrong with it. He'd more than once just appeared, took one look at a machine and told them what was wrong before the mechanic had even pulled it apart. It was great for costs because they stopped having to buy nearly as much new equipment.
Most of the guard also possibly had a soft spot for the image of a grease covered Ani grinning up at them while surrounded by whatever project he'd been working on.

Fox's batchers want to give Bail a shovel talk.
(they cannot give one to Breha because they are not going to go to Alderaan and demand to be let in to the Royal Palace just so they can threaten the Queen. No, they like themselves a bit too much for that)
They are all geared up for it and everything, ready to corner Bail the moment they see him, and-
And the Corries roll up and arrest them all.
"For planning to harass a Senator", they say. "We heard everything. You are NOT ruining this for us all. You are NOT."
They do not let them out until their Generals come to pick them up and sign so many forms for the release. They do not talk about it afterwards.
