People b like nooo you have covid don't sleep with an open window at night when it's raining! I hope you know how covid works, because it thrives in cold temperatures!, Well i hope covid knows how I work because i ALSO thrive in cold temperatures. I'm not kidding. I live in denmark and when i was 14 i survived an entire winter with nothing but a sweater. No gloves, no hat. Didn't wear a winter coat for 12 months straight. I can do 20 minutes of bike ride to school twice a day at -5ºc without flinching. I can survive covid, but can covid survive me is the real question here. I'm just sayin' don't be surprised if it disappears for good after trying to go through me you know?

Folks, now isn’t the time for your cynicism. Now’s not the time to mock the people actually organizing and calling people to action, telling them that it’ll never work, all for your own jaded sense of superiority
There will be a general strike on May 1st. Influential people and organizations are already miles ahead of you on getting the ball rolling for it. You won’t get to choose whether people stay home from work - only whether they get fired. You won’t get to choose whether people refuse to pay rent - only whether they get evicted. You won’t get to choose whether people take direct action - only whether they get arrested. You no longer have the choice between having a general strike or not, your only choice is between having a failed general strike or a successful one - and for a success we need your voice, organizing, and participation
We will never in our lives have a better moment than right now! You could spend the next century dedicating yourself to organizing, waiting for the right opportunity to act, and you’ll never get close to the energy that people have now. It’s literally now or never, my friends - let’s strike while the iron is hot, and forge a new world

It's a pandemic and I should understand something about contagion by now, and yet I watch mutual after mutual succumb to Supernatural in total confidence that it'll never happen to me.

Dear friends! Since when we started to build a cult aroung humanization of a pandemic? Am i the only person who thinks that this is incorrect thing to do? Is StayHome-chan worse than her? I think that it is better to spread the information about remaning the full quarantine and fighting with this infection! I am asking you to spread this information and support it. And what could be better - you can draw Stayhome-chan and help this trend! You can represent to you as you want to because the main goal now is to stay in home. Upload your StayHome-chan! Thank you for fighting with this problem. We are invincible together! ♡

Actual conversation at work:
Librarian: (sees a mom and a kid at the branch on a weekday morning) what are you guys doing here? Didn’t the schools start in-person classes again?
Mom: haha, yeah, they did, but a boy in his class tested positive so we’re quarantining
Kid: (wanders around touching things and fiddling with his mask)
Mom: just came down to the library while we’re out running some errands so we’ll have some books to read while we quarantine, just getting tired of being cooped up in the house
Kid: (sneezes, then takes off his mask to wipe his nose with his hand, then goes back to picking out books)

Chicago, IL: Occupation of Bank-Owned Building Turned Into Mutual Aid Hub
On April 1st, a group of rent strikers, residents of tent cities and community members reclaimed a building owned by Deutsche Bank in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood to house people experiencing homelessness. In light of the current pandemic and deepening economic crisis, we decided to take matters into our own hands; removing locks and dropping banners to announce our mutual aid efforts. When ‘shelter in place’ decrees are issued, those of us with nowhere to go must defy state-imposed curfews to collectively meet our needs. Together we are creating alternative models for survival in the face of widespread infection, uncertainty and social isolation.
Building on the momentum of ongoing rent strikes, we are renewing calls of solidarity to open up unoccupied homes for those who need them. In cities with eviction moratoriums, the closing of civil courts and the halting of business as usual makes squatting easier than ever before. Just as there is strength in defying the authority of landlords en masse there is transformative power in reclaiming shuttered buildings, clogging eviction bureaucracies, and moving evicted tenants back into their apartments. One is the natural outgrowth of the other. As rent strikes unmask the fundamental violence of rent, building occupations become acts of self-determination that shatter the illusion of private property.
