What is the timeline for the infection like? How long does each stage last? Does it vary? (Information needed for Writing, if you don't mind answering!)

Hmm, well. Each stage lasts about 8 weeks except the last stage, which takes about 2 weeks with nonstop agony for the engine. I'm still trying to figure out how long it should last.

So I'd say roughly 2 months, depending on what month it is. The infection itself sprung up in mainly Sodor in 2019, at the 30th of December. Any services to the mainland went on lockdown and so no one outside the island could get in and anyone on the Island out. Sodor narrowly avoided the Corona virus. The railways had to stop the ship transportation as another precaution, but could still do passenger runs, shunting and hauling any remaining freight. The infection lasted for two years and a half.
