Happy anniversary, Coraline!

Coraline is officially 15 years old today!

I'll never forget when it came out on DVD and I first watched it with my brothers at night with the lights turned off. I was of course really freaked out by it, but my oldest brother seemed pretty calm throughout the whole film. He normally didn't get scared easily. But the very next morning, he came downstairs for breakfast and told us he'd had a nightmare about the Beldam running at him screaming.

Throughout my journey as an artist, like everyone, I was worried about whether I would one day manage to create a full-body character that satisfied me, rather than just heads. These are drawings with a one-year difference, but what stands out the most isn't the style or the color; it's the time. In the Hilda fanart, it took me two hours to sketch the character, without the background, while in the other one, it was only 10 minutes.
