Moon pulls into a driveway beside a sprawling lawn, grass sporting crooked palm trees and wavy rows of California poppies, hummingbird sage, and goldenrod. All undoubtedly gardener-maintained, but expressing wildness Yasmine wasn’t allowed as a teen.

Moon doesn’t predict the string lights hung between trees, illuminating patio furniture pushed aside.

Yasmine opens Moon’s car door in her coral pink senior prom dress—a reminder of the date they were never brave enough for.

“I’m years late, but...dance with me?”

Soft music plays from unseen speakers. Moon takes Yasmine’s hand, smiling.

IT IS TIME: Miss Universe National Costume 2023

it's here! the Met Gala for people who actually understand what camp is!

yes I'm like 3 months late, but I sat down and watched the damn thing. I put up with the horrible little rhyming couplets for each contestant so you don't have to. and without further ado:

Albania: Starting off very Victoria’s Secret this year! Apparently it’s gold for important symbolism reasons, not just because everything in this competition is blinged out to within an inch of its life. The wings do look nice in motion!

Angola has a good balance of bling, actual cultural dress, and oh hey it has surprise bonus art on the back! That will be a theme this year.

Argentina: Why is there a guy in a hat right down at the bottom edge of her cape. He looks like he’s staring at her butt. How does this represent their flag.

Aruba: This is fine. I like the coral. She thinks climate change is bad. Her parrot is clearly way too heavy to hold up and it wobbles like crazy in motion.

Australia: This is now multiple years in a row that Australia has just worn a fucking prom dress. It’s got native wildflowers on. You could have made this exact same dress with a Great Barrier Reef theme and I would have liked it 80% more.

Bahamas: This costume is allegedly based on a 19th-century doll from the Bahamas “world famous straw market,” which is already bullshit; I googled “bahamas straw market antique doll” and like. they both have big skirts? I guess? Anyway now I’m too distracted by the way she has a hoop skirt awkwardly jammed under there and hiked up on one side. Minus ten for poor construction.

Bahrain's theme is “Bahrain’s pearl heritage,” which like. I guess? The headdress and yoke are pretty. Put more pearls on the actual outfit. Kudos for getting to wear pants.

Belgium: Girl. No. Why is your theme “Latin dance” and why are you wearing a spangly cocktail dress with a totally unrelated piece of fabric fluttering behind it? (Apparently the fabric was designed by a member of Belgium’s royal family? Who is a fashion designer? This is what nepotism gets you.)

Bolivia saw Aruba’s parrot and was like, I can do that better. And she was right! It’s way less wobbly and the costume as a whole does work better. Also made from recycled materials, so we’ll see if that’s a theme again this year. The back of the cape is nice too.

Sadly, Bolivia's parrot supremacy was short-lived, because Brazil was like, bitch please. I see your sad little parrots and raise you FOUR giant parrots, and also the shoulder parrots are articulated and can turn their heads back and forth. I think Brazil wins the parrot competition that only she knew she was in.

At first when I started getting into Eddsworld again, I struggled to come up with a definitive design for Matt, so I mainly experimented how he’d look in a bunch of different outfits, and I played around with how he’d present himself. I started off just presenting him masc, but over time, I started kinda embracing how differently he’d present, and he tends to fluctuate from fem, masc, to androgynous, and often somewhere in the middle. This idea started to develop in my art and even through the roleplays I do as him too!

I thought it would’ve been a really cool way to explore representing genderfluid characters and experiment writing characters with different backgrounds. And of course, since my experience is different, if I ever eff up the representation, feel free to always let me know guys HAGSHA I’m always open to tips for improving my writing and art. :-)

I like to think his experience with gender during high school took a while for him to fully feel comfortable with it. He never saw himself as strictly male. He’s comfortable being called he/him, but there were times where, yeah, that always fluctuated. Times in high school prom where he’d wear a suit, and whenever he’d see others wear dresses, he always wondered how he’d look in them, sometimes gender envy in a way. At one point when he was calling Edd, he even considered going by a different name.

Matt today still occasionally gets called “Coral”, since her hair color reminds the others of coral. :-] She uses Matt more, but whenever she hears Coral from time to time, she smiles a big BIG grin and gets really jumpy and excited.

Over time, Matt started experimenting with her gender expression. She tried on a dress that she borrowed from her mum one night.

Matt: “Hey, mum.”

Amelia: “Huh? What is it?”

Matt: “Can I borrow a dress real quick?”

Amelia: “…??? Are you going out or something, hun?”

Matt: “………………”

Amelia: “HAHA! I mean, sure, you can, but why? I thought you hated dresses.”

Matt: “It’s just gonna be for a few minutes.”

Amelia: “OKAYY! Well make sure you put it back in my closet!” (In her mind: “Well, that’s odd! Oh well!”)

And that’s where this drawing came to be!

Nothing but absolute euphoria.

Matt never really saw himself as entirely JUST a girl. He liked the idea of wearing feminine stuff, dresses and skirts, putting on makeup, and wearing nail polish, but he was also comfortable being a dude! Maybe growing out his hair to have it dyed and slightly curled would be nice, some hoop earrings, eyeliner, and a stubble. I am totally not foreshadowing.

Over time, past high school, into college, and afterwards to the present, Matt recognized there really wasn’t any boundary or restriction holding him back from how he wanted to dress up or present himself, and we get Matt today! Over time he grew even more comfortable presenting more fem, but absolutely fuckin loves looking masc or fem or ANYTHING EVERYWHERE IN BETWEEN! She basically doesn’t really mind at all what she’s called. Whenever people ask Matt what her gender is, he usually replies “Me? Oh, I’m Matt!”

She’s grown super passionate about fashion and makeup, and loves picking out outfits for her hubbies. I’d say out of all the crew, I draw Matt with the most different outfits all the time. I rarely really draw her with her hoodie LMFAOOO

Ladies and gentlemen

Here they are:

Winx mythix redesigns are FINALLY done!

So for the main idea for all the transformations, I completely disgarded the ‚prom dress‘ ideas cus

1. They looked nothing like prom dresses

2. They didn't even look like prom dresses

3. Did I mention that they were hideous?

4. They are hideous

So I went a different way.

I asked myself "what do I see when I hear the word 'fire fairy'?"

A fairy with red hair like Bloom?

A fairy made of literal flames?

A person with molten lava as hair?

There is no right to wrong with mythical beings, everyone can interpret them in their own way. So I took that idea and made them more 'in tune' with their own elements!

I left out their wands for now since I wasn't sure what to do with them.

With bloom, I went with the idea of a Fire dancer. Her wings are similar to her mythix one. I tried to make her skin resemble lava and I think I screwed up that part but eh.

For me, being a sky Fairy, I went with a light pastelly sky warrior theme. Speedy, agile and sparkly! I also made the skin slightly transparent cus I thought it would look cool :>

Flora ofc had to be the pretty one. I made her resemble a butterfly, her feet, knees, hands and shoulders are covered with pollen, so she can even pollinate flowers!

Aisha also has a more warrior theme going on. With water hair and even webs on her fingers and ears. Her Main Accessoires are corals and tiny teardrop shaped pearls

Stella ofc has to be one with the sun and moon. I liked the flower she has in her concept mythix design so I gave that back to her. It's a little hard to see but I also gave her tiny blue star freckles :3

Tecna just had to be a robot I'm sorry. She doesn't emotionally change tho ofc. Regardless of her metallic limbs, she has a very human heart and looks badass as a traveling robot ready to kick ass

Musa and Roxy were a little more tricky.

I wanted to show off Musa's Chinese heritage and combined that with a Dirigent. I'm just glad that the combo went really well in my opinion.

Roxy was a lot harder. I eventually settled with a deer-like appearance. And yes she's freaking out the first time she sees her legs turned into that of a satyrs.

But here they are, the Mythix redesigns!

Julie and the Phantoms' Prom Dresses, Part 1:

Julie and Flynn are prom dress shopping during The Scandal, the next installment in my Season 2/Electric Boogaloo series.

Since I've spent god only knows how many hours staring at prom dresses, I thought I'd share some images. This is just Julie, Flynn, and Emma (AKA the orange candy from Dirty Candy) because that's all we see in this fic. I'll post a part 2 when we get to prom itself.

For the bodice, maybe something more like this? And I like this color better--I don't want fuchsia or bubblegum pink, but something a little more corally.

A Murder on Prom Night

Days of Horror Day 4: Chance

(TW: Violence, Language, A Sprinkle of Emotional Abuse and A Whole Lot of Monster Blood)

Prom night. Senior Year.

Mickey hefted up her crossbow onto her shoulder. The heart stickers on the corner of her eyes twinkled at Minnie as she studied her over her shades. “We’ll only have one chance to get this done so what’s our number one rule?”

“Don’t fuck up.”

“Don’t fuck up,” she repeated like a chant.

Minnie adjusted her grip on her ax. If they fucked up, they wouldn’t get another chance. They’d be dead, and Minnie did not feel like dying today.

Mickey pushed her shades up her nose and popped her gum. “Let’s kick some ass.”

They marched down the hall towards the high school gym. The whole place smelled like sweaty shorts, cheap perfume, and 12 degrees of desperation. The halls were empty, besides the couples making out in the stairwell. Minnie felt a pang in her heart as she tried not to look at them. She hoped this night would look different, but fate had other plans.

The bass of the music punched the walls, making the air pulse around them as they approached the gym doors. With Mickey’s kick, the doors flew open.

The theme was “a night under the sea.” Green, purple, and blue balloons filled the ceiling. Murals of coral reefs and a glitter blue coastline covered the walls on white paperboard. “Mr. Brightside” blasted through the stage speakers. Juniors and seniors sugar high from punch and smuggled booze crowded the floor, jumping to the beat. They were all dressed in rental tuxedos and fancy dresses of various shades of shimmering fabric. Mickey and Minnie winced in the purple and green lights traveling overhead.

Then they saw him.

Hawk Royal.

He was up on the makeshift stage flailing about behind a computer setup. Of course he was self-important enough to volunteer to be the DJ.

Mickey had him in her sights as she aimed her crossbow. When she pressed the trigger, the arrow flew and buried itself in Hawk’s neck. He let out a loud gurgle over the mic as he collapsed, taking the whole computer set up with him. The music cut off with a snap. Screams filled the sudden silence.

“That’s your cue,” Mickey said as she loaded another arrow.

Minnie was already on the move.

But just as quickly, Principal Burgess stepped in front of her, red-faced and huffing. His arms up as high as he could to break her line of sight.

“What have you done?!” he shouted with as much authority he could inject over his shock and horror. Minnie was still holding an ax, after all.

Minnie tried to sidestep him but the principal shuffled into her path, again and again.

“I don’t have time—“

“Minnie George-Bennett!” He thundered. “Did you and Miss Carmichael just execute your boyfriend in cold blood in front of the entire student body?!”

“Ex!” Minnie corrected.

But she was getting desperate. They were running out of time. The stunning poison on the arrow tip would only last so long.

But the whole damn student body was closing her in on all sides. The other adult chaperones, finally finding their bearings, took strategic positions to block her path while the police were being summoned.

She knew this wouldn’t be easy, but damn!

They were fucking up.

No sooner than that thought crossed her mind that she heard a loud wet gurgle come from the stage. Hawk’s body threw itself over the DJ table, black ooze dribbling from his mouth and from the arrow wound.

He cocked his head sharply. His black eyes narrowed on her, full of hate.

“Miiiinniiiie,” he gurgled.

Cataleya, the Gen 2 heir, falls in love.

After Cataleya’s first day of high school, she sneaks out to the bar, where she meets Malcolm. They have awful chemistry, but Cataleya is dedicated to getting to know him.

Cataleya snuck out again because she wanted to find Malcolm’s home and talk to him. Cataleya found his home (Which is in H-O-B?? After Geoff mysteriously died, I guess Nancy wanted to leave the lavish life for the countryside), They talked, Cataleya said the wrong thing, he got upset, she comforted him (in hopes of getting him to open up), he almost pushed her away, but instead he took in her presence. Later on, Cataleya popped the question of if he had tips for asking someone to prom, she wasn’t slick at all, but Malcolm was oblivious as a soggy chunk of driftwood. Eventually, Cataleya thought it was getting late (go figure, it’s nearly 5 AM), so as a parting gift, she threw a flirt his way.

While working on a poster to ask Malcolm to prom, Cataleya got interrupted… by Malcolm, he ended up (very nervously) asking her to prom as friends, she disappointedly said yes and left. 

Cataleya decided to invite Malcolm over to play games... and to mend her own broken heart (selfish a bit, eh?). They play card games and do puzzles, Cataleya indirectly tells Malcolm she likes him. At the end of a card game, Malcolm let out a rather loud victory scream. they went outside to stargaze before Malcolm left. Coral had been awoken by the scream and while stargazing, Coral secretly spied on the two.

Alexander was a good friend of Cataleya, that’s all she thought of him, but one day, he asked her out, she reluctantly said yes. The date went poorly, she tried to ask him what was wrong but he just rudely dismissed her, which ticked her off, leaving immediately after he said that.

Cataleya didn’t have a dress for Prom (which was the next day), so she tried dress after dress until she found the one that fit her the most.

The triplets aged up to teens

Cataleya started prom absolutely elated… until Alexander attempted to win her back by kissing her hands, which she didn't buy and went off with Malcolm, who had her full attention. Malcolm won prom king (Cataleya definitely rigged it for him), and she took him off into a forest. She confessed to him, and he reciprocated, decided that while they do like each other a lot, that they wouldn’t make it official. They spent the rest of the night dancing, and got their first kiss in. Going back home, Cataleya was greeted by an angry mother. After getting yelled at, the slight bit of attitude in Cataleya’s eyes was enough to set Coral off, and she slapped her.

(A.N) Malcolm randomly came over to the Meadows estate, and at this point, I didn’t wanna make up anymore story, so I left them alone, and when I came back to tend to Cataleya’s needs (specifically the bladder), she had a pregnancy test option… and ended up pregnant.

Coral suspected something was up, so while Cataleya wasn’t in her room, Coral snuck into her room and read her diary, not just her Pregnancy entry… she read EVERYTHING…

The QUADRUPLETS… are born, three girls, one boy, Philly (♀️), Thalia (♀️), Lunea (♀️) and Calico (♂️).
