WOOOOOOO THE BASE FOR MY PILLARS HOODIE IS FINALLY DONE

#thanks mom <- the sewing expert #the hoodie has a cool lining now and specifically on the sleeves and the hood it's this soft knitted fabric that feels REALLY good to wear #the back is just recycled t shirt fabric but that's fine it's warm and colorful which was the point #also per my request the zipper was replaced with buttons #it looks SO COOL now. and it feels heavier and warmer and nicer to wear. and it also has kind of a vintage vibe bc the hoodie we used as the #base was pretty worn down and washed out #and now all that's left is to come up with a design #ngl I might keep this one lowkey because I kind of want to let the hoodie itself shine here #but we'll see what I end up wit #*with #project: hoodies

having another one of those nights where i feel the need to deep dive research into the well-known but now-defunct punk rock club in boston that my mom's great-uncle/godfather was the doorman for in the 70's-80's

#last few times i did this it was mostly about tracking down the t-shirt with mitch (my family member)'s face on it but tht has been found #(both in digital version on the website of the guy who originally designed it and also the fact that my mom literally has one which #he specially signed to her and everything it's so cool its SO cool)#so this time im looking more into the music played there. there's a whole live album! several recordings of shows ppl have uploaded!#and theres a whole ass DOCUMENTARY on the place someone made thats on youtube. so im having a fun time #grandpa max is god? i go to church now

it’s like. i love being trans. and also if there was a loving god he wouldn’t do this to me

#usually my mental illness is emotional Nothingness. when i take wellbutrin i can feel again!#and when the wellbutrin loses efficacy i keep the feeling but lose the good ones so i just unlock Regular Depression. which fucking Sucks #and a couple weeks ago i ran out of t gel and it is a controlled substance so they wouldn’t give me my refill until the full 60 days were up #which meant i had to be off t for like a week. and i was so so hopeful that it wouldn’t do anything to me.#but it restarted my cycle so i’m bleeding rn. and it is so fucking awful #it Hurts and it feels Humiliating and Wrong #cramps and stomach issues And dysphoria and bleeding. nothing more evil to do to me right now #and it’s worse cause i was done with that. i literally GOT RID OF IT. I PUT THE WORK IN. I WAS FREE.#but i couldn’t have my medicine and now i no longer control my own body. horrifying. so horrifying #wore a kind of ill fitting binder today too and it kickstarted Other dysphoria on the drive home so. messed up rn.#i just want to be able to live my life man. i want to have a body that looks and functions like me #and can feel things and do things #and doesn’t subject me to hurt in multiple multiple ways. that would be really cool.#genuinely it does not fucking matter if god loves me. cause if this is what i go through when he loves me #then i don’t want his fucking love.#i hope god kills himself actually #i want to wake up and just be able to put a shirt on and leave the house. can you imagine a fucking world #gonna try nd sleep for like five minutes and then go to dinner with my mom. i can be okay. i can be stronger than my struggles #i just need to be really fucking angry with god.#great time to be reading paradise lost #valentine notes

getting intense joy from painting my nails wasn’t an expected outcome of my day but it is definitely a welcome one!

#in todays episode of ‘oh dang cis ppl can also get gender euphoria huh’#the more this happens the more I am convinced that gender expression is rly a personal thing #bc like. my roommate would NOT like to paint her nails or wear hairbows or skirts. she doesn’t enjoy them.#but she considers herself very feminine in her own right by the colors and styles of the shirts she wears and how she does her hair #I didn’t used to think I liked looking particularly feminine at all bc I found so much of it uncomfortable #turns out girliepop had sensory issues and the ‘beautiful lace dresses and nylon tights and makeup’ wasn’t doing it for me #but when given the chance to choose how I look. I find that I actually enjoy some of the stereotypical feminine stuff a lot!#and also enjoy some stereotypically unfeminine things bc they make me *feel* more like a girl even if they’re not like that for everyone #like my Minecraft socks! and t-shirts from the men’s section at Meijer. and button ups with loud patterns! and my undercut 🩵#also a lot of it I think is just. I am expressing what I like and enjoy. and part of who I am is a girl. so having the ability to express #myself in my clothing means I feel more like me. which includes feeling like a girl. which is v cool.#like I have other nail polish but I don’t like it bc it’s smth my mom picked out for me and it’s not rly my taste.#I have a ton of jewelry but only some of it is smth I would ever actually wear. bc I got it from my great grandma. who had different tastes.#but my Minecraft socks and patterned skirts and graphic tees and hairbows are all things that show what I like!#even if it’s not super matchy or coordinated. I look like me!#and now I have nails in my favorite color and I’m gonna try and get my hair dyed again in colors I like #I just. have the agency to look like me. and I keep surprising myself by how much I love that.#instead of copying what my family considers to be ‘good taste’

My husbeast and I are childfree by choice, and my only sibling also never had any interest in procreating, so when his only sibling had a kid I was delighted. I was determined to become the coolest aunt who ever walked this earth despite not in general being particularly fond of small children.

My nephew is now thirteen and his mother tells me he brags about me to others as "the coolest". ☺️☺️☺️

How did I achieve this? Easy. The first time I met him as a sentient being -- I'd met him as a baby, but we lived in another country at the time so we didn't see him often and the next real visit was when he was about three or four, I think -- I got down on the floor with him to play toy cars for a while, and I spoke to him like an adult even when he was toddler-incoherent.

It's fun to hold a serious sounding conversation with a partner babbling nonsense, and I was playing it up a bit for laughs from my sister in law on the sofa, who was cracking up -- but I wasn't mocking or ignoring him, and he could tell. I was also holding up my end of making the cars go vroom.

And from then on, even though we didn't see each other super often, he knew I was going to treat him like a person and listen to him, and could trust that I want him to be happy more than be easy or placated. And what's cooler than that?

OK, it also helps that I make video games and can discuss that hobby with him. But still.

I know that a lot of you are banking on having little to do with your nephews/neices as children and then becoming their "cool aunt" once they become teenagers, but I think that you will find, upon analysis, that a random middle-aged woman stepping into a whole-ass teenager's life and arbitrarily declaring herself to be a "cool aunt" is, in fact, the least cool thing it's possible to do.
