we don’t acknowledge enough how dee used to be a pageant winner when she was a kid and how much damage it did to her. she worked her ass off and got recognition for being pretty and talented at a young age and it was the only source of self esteem she could garner in a family that constantly berated and talked down to her. she sought after that external approval because it was the only way she could prove everyone around her wrong. her dream of being a performer didn’t come from a self-aggrandizing delusion— she genuinely showed a lot of potential when she was younger. but she went through an unflattering puberty and her spinal condition got worse and that natural talent she had as a kid plateaued way too early. the “former gifted kid” dilemma. she slowly lost the thing that promised her that she was good, but she was so desperate to keep holding onto it that she tried anyway. again and again and again no matter how much people made fun of her because it was always about proving them wrong. but after a while she couldn’t jump anymore without anticipating the way it feels when she hits the ground face first. self-sabotage became her way out, choosing to rather live in the fantasy of her own unrealized potential and blaming those around her for her lack of success, than having tried and crashed again. she’d rather buy lottery tickets over and over and never scratch off the numbers than to see that she lost. that self-sabotaging behavior bled into other aspects of her life too, from friendships to relationships to therapy. her own short lived success is what made her grow into embodying the cycle of failure.

I think Curly being fired a long with the rest of the crew even with the recommendation still invokes he did not get what he wanted through that.

Curly was feeling unfulfilled at work and in his career, yes. He was considering quitting along with sticking it out cause it’s what he’s known and feel secure in, even if not satisfied. You think getting fired would be a great thing for him, that’s a part of Jimmy’s scathing thought process and twisting of the cock pit conversation. However, the most important aspect is that Curly got to make that final decision for himself.

Curly does not get to decide if he’s actually ready to take that step and branch out and it likely worsened whatever was spinning in his head into a spiral because now he has to think of what he’s gonna do. It can’t wait and I believe his misplaced idea of curtouy in telling the crew was his way of not invoking the same feeling within them. For him to be able to sit on it for months while they couldn’t, it was not fair the same way it isn’t fair to assume he would wanted that as an excuse to leave piloting.

It’s good to note that no one really got to fully choose what they wanted to do. Just a whole lot of reactions…. And inactions.

Why JP!Cyril's reaction at Hilda "violent Almyrans" or just, lolcalised "fierce Almyrans" was nuked?

He tried to bring nuance to Hilda's assessment, maybe as a throw back to their support convo where she realises Cyril is "one of the good ones"?.

Imagine if, in her native route, we later learn that this axe was someone who was slaughtered and who is still in semi-sentient state?

That'd make the comment about that someone's remains not being "cute" kind of assholish, right? I wonder if this is why Pat erased the "cute" mention, maybe to preserve and salvage Hilda's character and likeability for the fandom? Just like Cyril casual "it's not they're almyrans that they're all violent" reminder?

Chapter 2 Beta Update~

--Nearly all of Ch2 is available, EXCEPT: The "America" backstory when talking with Lottie (it's just half finished). Overall around ~22k words added, and a few thousand to Chapter 1.

--Reworked the Sex/Gender/Gender Presentation System.

--New and Revised MC Dialogue to Ch1, depending on what Occupation you choose. Not all has been changed, more planned later in the month.

--Various typo fixes, small re-writes and bug fixes.

I wanted to get more done, but alas ><;; 🙏🏽 some IRL came up that i really need to deal with. BUT! I managed to get Ch2 from beginning to end! I hope yall will enjoy the last half of Ch2, I'm very happy with it overall! :"))))

I am def not overthinking that Bellara's Vallaslin is supposed to honor Dirthamen.

Which (her quest spoilers)

Dirthamen's tale involves him being separated from his brother. His brother that got sent to the fade and thus was unable to follow him.

Cyrian's Vallaslin looks like Bellara's but different. It could be a personal flourish based on a similar design, or it could be to honor Falon'Din.

Would be an echo of the twin gods separated by the fade. One that went there and returned to their sibling.

I'm definitely overthinking this.
