KHK screw gears, also known as worm gears, are a type of gear that consists of a worm (screw-shaped gear) that meshes with a worm gear (helical gear). They are known for their high reduction ratios, with one revolution of the worm gear resulting in multiple rotations of the worm. Screw gears are characterized by the high helix angle of the worm and the corresponding gear, resulting in a non-intersecting axis between the worm and the gear. They are used in various applications such as conveyors, mixers, and reducers, and are known for their high torque and low-speed capabilities. @headstrongblake said: Squeezing their hand just a little tighter while walking. / alec & o, HVH (gloved hand)
ever since they'd been rescued from hydra and strykers torture it had been a bit of a struggle trying to adapt to life outside a cage. and despite finally, after long last, being reunited with their people, that struggle was still there. after kassy had been quickly escorted away from grant and the group by the tall man who's name alec thought was nick, octavia's brother, bellamy had slowly began to escort them towards their base and mode of transportation. big blue eyes widened as they saw the huge plane appearing seemingly out of thin air and as the converyor slowly began to drop for them all to enter he felt octavia's gloved hand in his squeeze.
he looked over at her with a soft and encouraging gaze despite the anxiety he felt in his chest, assuming she felt much of the same. he didn't want to be trapped in something he couldn't leave if he wanted to, not again and if the way she was squeezing his hand meant anything, he assumed octavia shared that thought. "it's going to be okay," he reassured her, "we're with your brother now, and grant is here too, they won't let anything else happen to us." it was a promise he wasn't so sure he should make but he did anyways, if not only for octavia but for himself too.
taking in a quiet but deep breath, he squeezed her hand back as together they stepped onto the plane. he wouldn't leave her, just as she had never done so to him. "welcome to the bus," nathan announced to the two of them with a friendly, dimpled grin. alec smiled back even if it was a slightly timid smile, "why do you call it that?" he asked before nate launched into the background of their airplane. alec glanced over at octavia as he did so, offering reassuring smiles when he could. they were safe now. they weren't trapped in here, this was their new home.

Some random dreams I've had that have vividly stuck in my head:
1 - The dream started with me in a meeting with a random man who in the dream I knew was my boss. He was criticising me for apparently having drank alcohol on the clock (not something I did IRL hgfdgh), but he was doing it in a sort of informal, chatty, this-isn't-a-big-deal-but-I'm-required-to-say-something kind of way, going out of his way to inform me that sometimes he enjoys a glass of merlot. Then I was suddenly in my local supermarket, with the awareness that I'd gone out during my lunch break at work and massively gone beyond the time for lunch to finish because for some reason I'd decided to travel to the supermarket closest to my house (it would have taken me longer than my lunch break just to travel there one-way from my workplace, for context) and do a full shop, and woke up in absolute dread that the fictional boss was going to fire me for my alcohol and supermarket shenanigans. Had a vague sense of inexplicable unease lingering for the entire day.
What caused this one? Going to bed slightly anxious because I couldn't fully remember if I'd mildly fucked a specific task up at work that day.
2 - (this one's kinda gross, unsanitary warning is probably justified) I was in a factory where a bunch of young adults were kneeling down at intervals alongside this big converyor belt-like thing powered by running water (almost a mini artificial river). They were bowing their heads down and drinking the water every so often. When it came to my turn, I bowed my head down so I finally could see over the rim of the belt (it was like a trough shape) into the water itself, and it was filled with used Covid test components floating on top.
What caused this one? I don't know specifically. At one point I nearly stood on part of a broken used Covid test in the street, which freaked out my contamination anxiety to no end, so I assume the idea vaguely came from that incident?
3 - I was in a hospital room crying, because I'd just found out that Sibling J had a terrible disease that would cause him to turn into a butterfly. The fact that he was planning to willingly attempt this transformation without going into a chrysalis was going to be specifically dangerous, and I remember I was trying to talk him out of it. For a few days in a row, every time I napped/slept I'd be teleported right back into this bizarre dream.
What caused this one? Not a bloody clue lol, but Sibling J thinks it's hilarious.

Level 4
Now that I have access to the updated version of the game's mechanics [thanks Reece], I have a bigger variety of puzzles I can implement. For instance, the portals work and the paint is now decals.
The first puzzle I went about making was a concept of Reece's - the player needs to go to the handle and pull it to open a door behind them [open/shut status is indicated by a red/green light], but doing so shuts the door in the middle. The player will be unable to jump over this wall - instead, they can portal over the top and teleport behind it.
I intend on the level using a lot of these puzzles - access to portals allows rooms to be a lot tighter
This is the finished prototype with the wall doors open and shut. I'm pretty happy with this because it's simple and smooth, but this obviously isn't the whole level.
UE5 killed both itself and most of the progress I'd made on the level so I rebuilt it with a few changes
The level now goes up so it's easier for the player to see the space above the middle door and portal through. The light has been replaced by a sphere using a dynamic mat instance as seen below too.
The next thing I changed was integrating the level I had made into a wall. My reasoning for this was that I thought it would be neat, and I took inspiration from a specific Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, unfortunatley I could only remember how it played na dlooked, not where it was.
My plan for this is to copy this, move it and have the player try to get from one side to the other. The wide space on the sides will let us [Louis] experiment with fog, skyboxes and lighting and the open space will allow me to get creative with what puzzles I make.
The first things I added were a series of dangling cargo containers [VERY tempted to reuse my Shipping Delay models] on rails, then one that still moves. I added these as I felt the level should make sure to use the other paints, and I like to keep the player moving. That being said, I should consider ways of using the portal paint as a movement tool and using that in my level design
This was the next section I added. It involves Paintjumps and portalling to scale an otherwise inaccesssible wall. The player here is jumping across broken railings and the last section is some kind of foreman's office [or something similar]
I ended up not building a foreman's office - it would nescessitate too much detail. Instead, I created a pipeline, block spawner in the funnel [and block killbox as that hitbox in the distance, it's huge] and busted conveyor. The conveyor serves to give this outcrop a reason for existing [it's where the blocks get transported] and also give sthe player a direction to go. I am likely to continue this converyor in parts or give the player some indicator of where it used to be and where they need to bring the block to exit the level.
This was my code that allowed the box to be used to give the player a key. There will likely be a button or animation added later but this will do for now. This serves to work with my door hitbox so the player can escape the level
This is now where the player goes with the block. They should use a portal [now with extended range] to get up the conveyor and into the container impaled on the rail. Ideally, the above block hitbox should be added fairly soon to this so the player doesn't have to drag it with them the whole level, as it can make movement difficult.
After the level had been properly textured, filtered and lit, I finished the level. This is the last section - it involves a button triggered by the block which opens a door [the upper gate] with coloured lines showing the path the player is supposed to take and the needed paint. The door uses the redesigned code to move upwards so the player can finish the level.
However, it's occured to me that the player has no indicator they NEED the cube - and they can't go back for it if they forget. I need to add a way of telling the player they need it.

THE SILENCE SPREAD BETWEEN THEM as the paper wavered in the air. liam could tell that lia wasn't impressed. by him, by the situation, he did not know. maybe both. but she accepted it eventually, though it was accompanied with a muttered jibe. liam chose to ignore it, knowing that he deserved it and that she'd probably tear it up if he didn't. "that's fine," he promised. "i know you're probably ... you have better things to do. i won't blame you if you don't reach out." there wasn't much to say, after that. liam knew that it was a slim chance that he'd ever talk to lia again, but a small part of him was at least glad he had the opportunity to try. "take care, lia. it was nice seeing you again." he turned around, hands gripping the cart tightly. liam went through the motions of putting the groceries on the converyor belt, every beep loud and intrusive, and he left earthwave feeling slightly more scattered than when he entered.
Dahlia watched as Liam scrambled for a piece of paper and something to write with. She couldn't help but feel a pang of disbelief. Really, Liam? This is your grand gesture? A number on a scrap of paper? He held out the crumpled up receipt to her, and she felt frozen where she stood. Her fingers twitched wanting to reach out, yet actually terrified to make any sudden movements. Ball’s in your court, Lia. Her eyes shifted from the receipt to his face and back. She took a steadying breath and hesitantly grabbed the receipt out of Liam’s hand. “You’re a real piece of work, Liam Reed, you know that?” She shoved the paper into her front pocket and stepped back. The years had done little to dull the pain or erase the memories of their time together. Lia had just gotten used to going through life with echoes and phantoms of Liam’s influence on her life. She’d thought of this moment one too many times, but she’d never pictured it going down like this. Dahlia stared at his face, trying to read his expression and comprehend what was going through his mind. There had been a time when she could understand him with just a glance, but that time had long passed. “I’ll think about it. No promises,” she said, after a moment.

Advantages Of Using Conveyor Belts For Mining Purpose
Nature gives more valuable resources to humans, and all those resources are taken under the land through mining. The mining industry has involved various processes in collecting various resources like gold, copper, coal, iron, etc. In the olden days, mining was a process with some risk, but due to the advanced technology, the risk factors in mining industries were eliminated. Train tracks in mining areas are the old method, and now many companies have started to use the conveyor belt, which is the latest one. You will see some of the advantages of using a conveyor belt for mining purposes through this post:
Some of the Advantages of Conveyor belt
Increased Efficiency
The traditional method such as trucks or man-operated vehicles used to carry the material in mining areas take a long time, and the efficiency of the work will be very low. Because the workforce will soon get tired of carrying heavy materials continuously, the conveyor belt is the best alternative for increasing efficiency.
The number of materials transported in this conveyor belt will increase, and Synergies-Group will provide the top-quality conveyor belt to their customers. This belt is highly efficient in utilizing the fuel, and a large number of heavy materials will be transferred by consuming a low level of fuel. Usually, the energy required to operate the belt is less than the trucks and diesel-powered machines, which emit more fossil fuel.
Cost Reduction
The cost of using trucks is more, and you need to employ the workforce to operate the trucks each time which will also increase the expensive aspects of operating a mining company. Saudi is a popular place for the mining industry, and there you can get the best mining-related products. The demand for Synergies-Group is increasing fast since they offer conveyor belts at a reasonable price with existing features.
Some people say that buying a conveyor belt is a big investment, and yes, it is a big investment only, but the return on investment is massive. The modern conveyor belt system saves your money in various places, and it is suitable for coal, salt, and other important mining services.
Minimum Space Requirement
The space occupation of the traditional trucks in mining areas is more inconvenient for effective mining services. But the conveyor belt system is exactly the opposite, and it will require only a minimum space requirement. In addition to that, the weight of the trucks will also be nearly several tons.
The Synergies-Group suggests the owners of the mining industry buy the conveyor belt system, which is flexible. Other than this belt system, all other mining vehicles used to transport the material will consume more time, and sometimes they are dangerous to handle. However, the staffing for monitoring the conveyor belt system will be less, and it has various sizes.
Less Labor Intensive
Typically, the number of workers required to operate this conveyor belt system is very less when compared with a truck-based system. Technology has developed and so it has included the implementation of remote monitoring sensors on different parts of conveyor machinery. So automatically, it helped to reduce the workforce to operate machinery.
You don't have to fear checking parts and facing issues when installing the conveyor belt system for your mining services. Still, there is no technology for the truck's safe self-driving without labor, so less Labor Intensive is possible only in the conveyor belt.
Bottom Line:
People who have checked the points listed above understand the advantages of using conveyor belts for mining purposes. Stop wasting your time and money with trucks and use the belt system as soon as possible.

technically there's no standard by which it's the largest land vehicle (nasa crawler transporter is largest self propelled, overburden converyor bridge f60 is largest of any kind) the bagger 288/293 holds such a special place in my heart. look at this beauty
simply glorious. it can dig over 200,000 TONS of dirt a day (its not for coal, its for digging away the stuff that covers the coal). a soccer field 100 ft deep! bizarrely, its huge footprint of tracks means it doesnt exert much psi on the ground, a little under 2 atmospheres.
By February 2001, the excavator had completely exposed the coal source at the Tagebau Hambach mine and was no longer needed there. In three weeks it made a 22-kilometre (14 mi) trip to the Tagebau Garzweiler, traveling across Autobahn 61, the river Erft, a railroad line, and several roads. The move cost nearly 15 million German marks and required a team of seventy workers. Rivers were crossed by placing large steel pipes for the water to flow through and providing a smooth surface over the pipes with rocks and gravel. Special grass was seeded to smooth its passage over valuable terrain. Moving Bagger 288 in one piece was more economical than disassembling the excavator and moving it piece by piece.
its too bad its for mining coal :( well. sometimes the means justify the ends
