fun fact about me! I have hyperadrenergic Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (hPOTS). this means I am prone to fainting when I change positions or when I feel a strong surge of emotion, positive or negative. for me, laughing is my worst non-postural trigger.

this is a clip from playing lethal company with friends a few months ago. you can hear the eerie silence of presyncope at 0:19, and the sound at 0:23 is my face hitting the keyboard lmao. I played this for my mother and she literally pissed herself laughing and DEMANDED I show every single person I know (including my doctors, who thought it was funny to see and surprisingly helpful, especially for being audio only).

The best fics are the ones that recognize that although Luke Skywalker may APPEAR on the outside to be a normal friendly twink who happens to have cool powers, especially when contrasted with such ship partners as Boba or Din or even Han, he is arguably the scariest person alive in the galaxy around the prequel era. AND, crucially, he is also a fundamentally weird guy. This man was homeschooled on a rural farm his entire life and then apprenticed to a swamp gremlin who showed him how to tap into the cosmic power of the universe. He blew up the death star age 19, killing approx 2 million-ish Imperials. He is a vortex of Force power that can communicate with the ghosts of dead Jedi. He’s staring into the distance and mumbling to himself and doing Yoda aphorisms and casually pulling out the “yeah I could crush that guy into a paste with my mind (:” and nobody around him knows what to do with that. I think he is a character who has very little frame of reference for how a Jedi or a person in general is supposed to act and there is some thing about him that is by necessity really fucking weird and a little scary but he’s so nice that it can throw you off the scent a little bit. the attempt to try to make the ace attorney games as self contained as they can is really funny because I mean the doylist reason for edgeworth never referring to phoenix by name in aai is that they didn’t want constant name drops to phoenix wright to feel confusing or invasive to players who are playing it as their first ace attorney game.

but from a watsonian perspective it just makes edgeworth look completely insane. “ah yes that man who had such a profound impact on me and I have a deep unwavering respect for who I shall NOT name under any circumstances.”

On one hand, Young Justice is kind of neglected by the actual superheroes that should be looking out for them in a lot of crucial ways and very much failed by the adults around them

But on the other hand Red Tornado straight up hosts a parent-teacher conference where their respective legal guardians all show up, barring Batman who’s in traffic so Nightwing fills in instead because Robin’s dad does not know he’s a vigilante which is objectively hilarious

social hierarchy is maintained without violence in most cases, and after the circling stage one of them backs off, knowing they'd lose a fight. but backing off means ceding your ground & movement path to the victor. it is a type of dyadic dominance so isn't relevant in contexts where two stallions aren't likely to ever meet again or associate with one another for more than a few minutes. a quick appraisal is usually enough to establish who walks freely and who moves out of the other person's way, but in the cases where neither party will back down, they're going to fight and make it everyone else's problem. there have been several documented cases of fights breaking out indoors and someone being knocked out by getting too carried away and smashing their head into the ceiling

it's extremely rare for this to result in life-threatening injuries but it does happen; a few deaths a year is the norm. sometimes a guy just doesn't know when to call it quits, or sometimes a stray kick hits the wrong place. the victor of a fight doesn't get a blanket dominant status - this is only in the context of the two participants of that particular fight

Context: September 11 Attacks -> The Increase of Racism

Early morning on September 11th, 2001, 19 hijackers overtook four commercial airlines that were departing from three different airports; (two from) Logan International Airport in Boston, Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, and Washington Dulles International Airport in Loudoun and Fairfax counties. The first plane took off at 7:59 a.m. and was followed by the next at 8:14 a.m., the next at 8:20 a.m., and the last one at 8:42 a.m. Four minutes after the last plane departed, the first plane was overtaken by five of the hijackers and was crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Twenty minutes later, the second plane hit the south tower. The crash of the Twin Towers alone killed 2,763. The third plane hit the west wall of the Pentagon nine minutes after the second crash. Due to delay, the fourth plane passengers learned early on something was going to happen and worked together to try to overthrow the hijackers. Scared, the hijackers nosedived the plane crashing it into a field in Stonycreek Township. It is unknown what the hijackers' target was but some hypothesize that it was either the White House or the Capitol Building. After all four planes crashed, 2,996 lives were lost and thousands were injured. 

Within hours, the Central Intelligence Agency determined that the hijackers were part of Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaueda was originally formed to support Muslims who were fighting against the Soviet Union during the Afghan war but was mostly dispersed when the Soviets left. They were the roots of the Islamist network. An important coordinator of the group, Osama Bin Laden, worked with Abdullah Azzam to reform the group with a “similar” purpose in 1988. During this time it was given the name al-Qaeda which translates to “the foundation”. Their goal was a global Islamist revolution which meant to unite the Muslim world under a supra-national Islamic state which is known as Caliphate. The group was aggressive and carried out 6 major attacks, the last (and largest) one being the September attacks.

September 11th was a long-planned idea. The key operational planner, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, presented the first idea of the attacks in 1996 to bin Laden. The plan was rejected for being too elaborate but in 1998-1999, bin Laden summoned Mohammed again to talk about a new plan, a less elaborate plan. Over the next year, the two started to recruit people for the attack and selected a leader who would be in charge of everything else. The 19 hijackers were selected including Mohammed Atta who was the leader.

  Fifteen of the nineteen men were from Saudi Arabia, two were from the United Arab Emirates, one was from Egypt, and the last one was from Lebanon. After 9/11, Arab Americans experienced an increased amount of discrimination. Islamophobia was at its highest (and continues to be). Women particularly were targeted due to the majority wearing hijabs which was an indicator of the religion. Hate crimes against Muslims spiked 500 percent from 2000-2009.
